  Just to follow up with you on that, that very well may be the cause. Especially when it comes to mobile phones, the real cable you use is very important to have all the features when it is plugged into a computer. Where you can try a new USB cable yet, I hope that whoever is completely compatible with this phone.

  How long have you encountered this problem?

  Did you of recent changes made to your system, before having this problem?  (installation/uninstallation software/hardware)

  What version of Windows XP and SP are you currently using?

  What anti-virus software are you currently running and when you ran a full scan last?

  When I get my laptop connected via usb, the system constantly charge the phone when the pc is asleep. Have you tried to uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the Control Panel/Device Manager/USB controllers/Properties tab, but the ports still off.   I read your post on how the USB ports on your computer constantly power when the rest of your system enters mode 'sleep', and you need to avoid this. I'd be happy to help you in this case!

  In order to maintain your USB ports power while your computer sleeps, your office should be equipped with a High Powered USB port. It also allows to load when your office is completely turned off.

  According to the Specifications of the product from your desktop, High Powered USB is not available on your system.

  In your case I would remove all the USB ports on the Device Manager and restart your computer. The ports will be recognized again, and then test you its operation.
