Nighthawk R8500

Do not buy the router R8500 Nighthawk. He does not live his expectations of covering 4,000 feet. He will not even a good signal at 30 feet with only half of the walls and hallways. It was the most expensive and I don't have any lucj with her or the Gearheads support group. they keep just change channels, it was very disappointing.

Thaks for your answer. I agree now that a single unti will not cover 4,000 square feet. NETGEAR should re think their marketing and they present on their packaging. I paid more than $400 and I expected much better performance. I added a Netgear Access Point WNDPA620 and two Linksys R6500 extensions and I now have a little coverage at very high load. I hope that the new Orbi or routers to come Google change the WIFI coverage.

  • Nighthawk R8500, USB 3.0 Flash drive not recognized USB 3.0 Port, Port of only 2.0

My Nighthawk R8500 router with the latest firmware, V1.0.2.54_1.0.56, does not recognize my SanDisk Ultra Fit 128 GB USB 3.0 Flash drive when it is connected to the router USB 3.0 Port. The Ultra Fit is formatted in FAT32 and works fine when plugged into USB Port 2.0 router or my laptop.

At first, I thought maybe USB 3.0 Port on my router wasn't working at all, but it recognizes my SanDisk 16 GB Cruzer USB 2.0 Flash Drive that is also formatted FAT 32. Unfortunately both my laptop have USB 2.0 Ports, so I don't know if the problem is with the router or the Ultra Fit Flash Drive. Everyone knows about this problem of their Flash 3.0 player is not recognized in USB 3.0 Port their router, especially with a SanDisk Ultra Fit? This problem can be resolved through firmware? I'd really like to take full advantage of the speed of USB 3.0 as I like to share files through my router via ReadyShare and ReadyCloud.

  • The GS324 supports 802.3ad Dynamics?

I am looking to buy a Nighthawk R8500, and a switch of 24 ports of GS324 for my home network. However, I have found no information to indicate whether or not the GS324 supports double AD ports on the router R8500. It would really cinch the purchase for me, otherwise I'm on the fence.

Does anyone know if the switch supports? If not, what switch would be recommended to get that extra bandwidth?

    Hello DasMainframe,

    Welcome to the community!

The GS324 switch is only a (silent) switch passthrough and I do not think that it supports the LACP Protocol. It is not configurable, since she does not have any user interface or management software. If you want a switch with LACP (802.3ad) you have to go with our Smart Switch (PROSAFE series) models.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

What is the difference between the R8300 and the R8500? Both seem to be Nighthawk X 8 tri-band wifi routers. I ask you if the firmware for the R8500 updates will work for the R8300.

    Hello @seattleracer

    Welcome to the community!

    R8300 has 1 single USB port and WiFi speed is 600 + 2166 + 2166, while the R8500 have 2 USB ports and WiFi speed is 1000 + 2166 + 2166.

You can see more comparison here.

  • Nighthawk D7000 - address DHCP reservation does not

    Hello

I bought a Nighthawk D7000 AC1900 a few weeks ago to replace by BT Home Hub 5 which I use with 1 BT infinity. A few days ago, I decided to try to book a number of IP addresses that I need this so that the Port Forwarding works properly but no matter how many times I tried woudn't work. I don't know if this has been affected by the new firmware or not.

    Did anyone else experienced it?

Well I ended up coming back to the 1.0.0.32 firmware and guess what it works perfectly.

  • Nighthawk R7000 stopped working after 4 months

My Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi R5700 model stopped working suddenly after only four months. I went through all the troubleshooting steps in the manual, but I still get the amber lights which, according to the manual, indicate that the router is not working properly. It was working fine before yesterday. It's quite frustrating that all of our devices, including our printer and the TV programs, such as Netflix etc. rely on the wireless. And if I want to use all my data on my phone our House is pretty much dead in the water. My old modem took more than 4 years it's just simply unacceptable. Has anyone else had problems with this model? And did you have to replace or was there some kind of fix

There will missed the point on the question of 4 years - which was the modem being replaced, but it lasted 4 years. It is totally not helpful to comment. What was useful was my son - an IT Director for a school system in MN. He diagnosed and repaired it - works well... the first two replies, thank you!

  • Common Nighthawk America X 4 performance drops

I have known random performance problems with my router Netgear Nighthawk X 4. I have very fast internet speeds (160 + mbps) but if I load multiple Web pages at once (for example, 5 at a time), they get stuck loading and finally have no response. This is via a 5G wireless connection. I have to wait a few minutes and reload all custom again. I disabled QoS, WMM and have the latest firmware, but it makes no difference. I must say, it's pretty frustrating. I expect more than a router of this award and the supposed calibre.

    Any suggestions?

I am now using to AC1200 D6200 Moden router model, with Netgear genius installed.but as my ISP change over fiber, I bought a Nighthawk AC1900 D7000 model

Question: Is Netgear engineering the same for all models of routers so that I can include the use of one installed for AC1200 or I have to download a new version for the new AC1900?

It has been my experience. The autonomous genius, if that's what you want to say rather than the little genius of the web interface, is a generic package that supports a range of hardware.

I don't know if the application supports everything, however. Some kit may be simply too old for his magic.

  • ORBI replace DSL Modem and router Nighthawk?

I have a Nighthawk AC1900 R7000 router and a Netgear DM111PSPv2 Modem and I was wondering if the system ORBI would replace both of them and give me greater coverage. Anyone?

  • Nighthawk D7800 and BT Infinity 2

My first time here so apologies for any errors of Protocol.

I bought the Nighthawk to replace my BT Homehub 3 and a modem to connect to broadband Infinity 2 (fiber).

I managed to connect to the internet via the BT modem so I know the system works. What I want to do is to connect the modem to the Nighthawk directly to the internet. I don't think that this can be done unless someone can tell me otherwise.

I, the tongue in cheek, contacted BT and confirmed that they use a system of wiring on the telephone connection to connect to fiber (FTTC) via the copper to the home line, which is unique. The phone connector uses only the Center contacts both in the plug, connected to which wires I don't know, while the Nighthawk uses all four threads, it seems. BT does not use a filter on the line because it is built in the area of incoming phone line. So the Nighthawk can only connect directly from the VDSL Jack to the telephone line. The internet connection on the Nighthawk decision-making only connects to the BT modem.

So, is it possible to connect to the fiber using the Nighthawks modem? I've conversed with support from Netgear and in their described wisdom and got sent - the manual method of Nighthawk, which I already explained did not have what I wanted. I'm still waiting for a further response from support, but not holding my breath.

It seems that I bought a very expensive router!

    Michael,

    Popular sympathy.

My Nighthawk played happily with internet provided that I have connected through my BT modem. The reason why I got the D7800 was because I wanted to use it a modem not BT proposing to connect to my fiber (sic, English).

I don't think right now that Netgear has a modem that is able to connect to the infinite fiber BT service.

I think I'll draw a line under this thread and concede defeat.

    Thank you

  • Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 Smart WiFi router prevents access to Internet

Yesterday morning I lost the internet connection. After a day of trying to solve the problem, it has been determined that the Nighthawk is not only not allowing Internet access, but it stops it completely.

If I plug the computer directly into the modem provided by Midco, I get a perfect connection.

The minute I try to access Netgear genius to solve the problem, I lose the internet connection.

If I try to use the Wi - Fi connection, instead of cable, I lose the internet connection.

If I connect the modem to the router and the router to the computer, I lose the internet connection.

My router $ 199 is barely 6 months. The cables are in good condition. Of course, it would start to have problems after the free 90-day warranty/help from Netgear.

Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

After that four days back with the company support Internet technology, they kept swearing that the router has gone bad. I went out and bought a new one, and it is same thing. They said they would have to call a technician to come to the House because they didn't know that their modem is not the problem since I could not in direct line with the modem to the computer. On a whim, I went out and bought a new modem, plugged into the router and the ethernet socket worked perfectly. If it turns out that something was going on with their router where it would not go to the modem to the router to the computer. When I tried this way, with the old modem, both the old and new router would not recognize the cable from the modem to the router, any cable, we used. But the new modem with router old and new work took over the old modem to the company and they told me there might be a short circuit in the modem, otherwise they cannot explain why the problem happening.
