No update of Windows from KB976902

So as the title says, I didn't only update since I installed this. 17 jan was my last update. Someone can tell me if there was a new updates published or will I be paranoid?

You are being paranoid.

Security updates are usually released on the second Tuesday of each month (for example, 08 Feb-11).

  • Vista SP2 enterprise. Updates to Windows from 11 August caused the system hang after starting.

Œuvres of mouse pointer, but the catch systems when I click on any element of the bar of tasks or office. OK works in safe mode. System Restore to a date before the updates does not help. I've eliminated all unnecessary programs in menu start, including NVIDIA drivers, but the problem persists.  Any suggestions?  Thank you!

    Hi Mathew and Imran;

Thank you.  After several reboots, add and remove services, I believe a solution to the problem.   It seems that McAfee Total Protection disliked among updates August 11... or the update did not like 'total Protection '.

After much frustration, I removed any trace of McAfee, first using windows uninstaller, then running the downloaded program to uninstall McAfee. I then installed Microsoft Security Essentials and downloaded and re-installed McAfee Site Advisor.

I don't think I have the same level of protection as I had before, but the system is faster and I think that I have an adequate level of security.  I'll leave it as it is for now.

I don't want this post as a blow against McAfee, they are an industry leader in computer security and 'Total Protection' provided exactly that.  We have a second PC in our House... material of identical office however, but under Vista Home Premium, whereas this one is running Vista Business.  Home Premium system runs 'Total Protection' and has not experienced the same problem, as the system of the company.  What's up mind dat?  It runs more slowly, probably because of McAfee files analysis procedures.

If Security Essentials works well in the coming months on this system, I can install it on the other system, as well as on my laptop.  In more than 10 years (from Windows 98 to Vista), we always used McAfee products and have NEVER had a viral infection.  Is it because of MCafee or our own due diligence?  Assume that this is not serious.

Thanks again for your help.  You got me on the right track!  Best regards... TeeDubTW

  • software update of Windows from an unknown source

I just got the same phone call, I let me have control of the computer, but as soon as they began to ask for a small fee upgrade my windows

software, first of all, they asked £149, then £89, then £19.99, then I was very concerned after having started to wonder how I could afford, I then stopped my pc control engineer, and as soon as he noticed that he let the engineer to take control again, I said no, asked what they called the company that he worked for so I could search online and when I told him that I was doing this, he sounded like he was trying to beat around the Bush and then hung up.  do I need to worry that they had control of my computer and I used my bank details online before and have an account of catalogue and then go and do things for themselves, and we have charged for it?

It's a scam.  You must inform your financial institutions and credit card companies, change passwords and consider reformatting and reinstallation of the operating system on your computer.  You must read the following links:

    Hello yousef Quran,.

I suggest you to create a restore before fixing Point was first the corrupted files. Open the Control Panel command (Windows key + X and then select Control Panel) and then in the search box, type restore point. Then select create a restore point. Click create and name the Restore Point.

Then, open the administrator command prompt. As the sfc/scannow can not fix the corrupted files, use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) Inbox by typing the following command: /Restorehealth Cleanup-image DISM.exe/online
You might see stuck at 20% for a while but just let it run.

For more information about the DISM tool, here is the link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947821?wa=wsignin1.0

If the DISM tool was able to solve the problem, run the sfc/scannow again. After issues are resolved, restart your computer.

Then try again, if it's the Control Panel Windows Update tab is The Problem, Try updated through change PC settings. Open the bar charms by sliding in from the right or press the Windows key + C. Press or click settings. Then select change PC settings. Scroll down the page until you see Windows Update. Press or click, and then select install. If it's the modern change PC settings that is the problem, try Control Panel via .

  • 8.1 Windows Pro update the problem (from Windows 8 Pro) on Envy 23 TouchSmart all-in-One...

    Hello

I have a HP Envy 23 Touchsmart all-in-one that I bought a year ago (12/2012). It comes preinstalled with Windows 8.

    System information:

    (a) Intel (r) Core i7 - 3770 S CPU @ 3.10 GHz

    (b) 8192 MB of RAM

A few weeks after that I had bought the system, I've upgraded to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center that I bought through Microsoft upgrade program.

Last week (19/10/2013), I saw the option upgrade to Windows 8. 1 in the store and decided to upgrade.

After a few minutes, I got a prompt asking me to restart the computer, and I did.

However, I noticed that the screen has turned white, but it restarts not really - I have seen that the hard drive light was still flashing and I waited for about 15 minutes. I know it does not restart because if that were the case I would have seen the HP logo on the screen of the BIOS. A little later, the system entered into mode 'sleep' (at least the light blinked slowly as if it was the sleep). As it was late at night, I decided to leave the system alone and decided to check on it the next morning. The next morning, he was still in mode 'sleep' (as I feared) - when I tried to wake up from her sleep by moving the mouse/hit the return key, he did the exact sounds as if he were to wake up from its sleep (as it always does), but the screen is still blank. The light power button lit up constantly indicating he's awake now.

At this point, I decided to turn off the system by holding the button for a few seconds. To restart, I saw the HP logo on the BIOS boot screen and the screen went white and nothing came.

So I decided do a system recovery using my Windows 8 recovery CD and turn off the system with the CD in its niche. This time, the system came and began immediately to restore my OS to a previous version.

After connecting to the system recovered, I received the following message:

"Could not update for Windows 8.1.

Sorry, we could not complete the update Windows 8.1. We have restored the previous version of Windows on this computer.

    0xC1900101 - 0 x 40019.

I tried to reinstall Windows 8.1 a couple of times after that. Once to disable all non-Microsoft services and disabling all startup programs. Always the same result.

I have no antivirus software on my other system protection of Microsoft default system software.

    Any help, greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

I have disabled active secure boot existing starter and the update worked.  Now we get the error of watermark "secure boot not configured correctly.  But I have re-enabled secure boot and the error disappeared.

  • Update for Windows 7 for x 64-based systems (KB976902) is originally the majority of my X 86 and some current applications for Windows 7 to stop working.

    Original title: Updates

The last update update for Windows 7 for x 64-based systems (KB976902) is originally the majority of my X 86 and some current applications for Win7 stop working. This includes IE8, MS Office10 and a few others. Whats with THAT! I have updates blocked for now, until the writers get it sorted.

    Hello

The article mentions that this update cannot be uninstalled. This software update is a prerequisite to install a service pack. In addition, this update improves reliability when you install or remove service packs and updates for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/976902

Since you have problems with Internet Explorer 8 and Microsoft Office 2010 after installing the update, I suspect the involvement of a third party software conflict. I would like you to put your machine in aclean boot State in order to eliminate conflicts of third party software.

Note: Follow step 7 to restart the computer as usual.

    Hi Allan,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    Update installation?

All updates are installed correctly on your computer?

    Method 1:

You can check if all updates have been installed successfully on your computer. To check

    1. click on Start Orb

    2. in the start menu search bar type Windows Update and press ENTER.

    3. in the left pane, click view update history and check if all updates are installed successfully or not.

    4. If updates failed, then uninstall it and try to install manually and check if that helps.

    Method 2:

If this does not help, you can try to start on the last good known Configuration and check if that helps. Starts Windows with the last configuration of registry and the pilot who has worked successfully.

Steps to start last good known Configuration

    Follow these steps:

    1. Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer by clicking the Start button, clicking the arrow next to the shut down button, and then clicking restart.
    2. Do one of the following:
      • If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by stopping and restarting your computer.
      • If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start, and then press F8.
    3. In the display Advanced Startup Options , use the arrow keys to select last known good Configuration (Advanced), and then press ENTER.
    4. If your computer has multiple operating systems installed, use the arrow keys to select the operating system that you want to start using the last good known Configuration, and then press ENTER. Windows will then resume starting normally.

  • How to upgrade all the updates of Windows XP from a single package?

    Original title: Windows XP updates

Is there an SP4 or a package that contains all of the updates of Windows XP after SP3 is released?  It would be extremely useful to update all of the XP machines that do not have access to the internet.

There will be a version called SP4 update by private parties. This update has been treated since September of 2012. Currently, they are still working on it. You can access this information to

    http://www.RyanVM.NET/forum/viewforum.php?f=5&SID=3058537efee42c994a4945a016f82cc3

Hope this helps, they recommend you to read the info from the beginning. With files and information, you can create an ISO file that can be used to create a version of XP from microsoft that you can use in the future. I do not recommend to use a good firewall and antivirus program to protect your system like back up your system regularly.

Personally, I'm going to build me a new computer.

  • Change the path to the updates from microsoft updates vs. windows

    Fully updated, xp pro, ie8

When you click Start, all programs, windows update, go to the updates of microsoft with the compatibility view

which connection online for microsoft updates gets updates microsoft without compatibility view

can I change the path for my start, all programs, windows updates to be updated from microsoft without view compatibiliy?

Edit: have reinstalled os with a sp3 slipstreamed cd.

Edit2: no sites are not listed in my compatibility view settings.

There is no need to uninstall/reinstall MSE.

    1. open IE (only!) to Microsoft Update . Click change settings in the left pane. Scroll to the bottom of the page. To stop using Microsoft Update. Disable the Microsoft Update software and let me use Windows Update only (check).

    1B. Reboot for good measure.

    2. your shortcut on the start menu should now be updated to Windows . [1] use it (not the Tools menu pull-down option) to go to http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate. Assuming that it does NOT open in compatibility mode...

    3. "Flip" your source of default update appropriate Microsoft update by clicking on the option / link on the main page of Windows Update (IIRC).

3B. reboot for good measure & test to see if the Microsoft Update shortcut on your Start menu will however open IE8 in compatibility view.

PS: I don't have a WinXP box handy to test myself, but the last time I used the Microsoft Update shortcut on one of my client computers, it has not opened in compatibility view. As far as I know, MS may have changed something since then so YMMV.

    =============================================================
[1] If you persevere with Windows Update as a source of update by default, MSE will always be 'auto-update' [even thought that Windows Update will offer more optional updates Defs] but will offer no updates to the ESM (e.g. new versions MSE) program or updates for MS Office, Silverlight, or Skype .
