No WWAN antena

Hi all

I recently bought a new laptop T400 (number 2765 - 51G of the product). According to the lenovo page, this notebook is upgradable WWAN. I have SIM card built-in player, free PCIe slot for WWAN card, but I don't have antena cables (red and blue). I wasn't able to find the good email contact for the support of the Slovakia, so I give a first shot here. I don't know what to do now. I want to put a WWAN connection for the operator of mobile and finally in three months, it is both a duty to solve this problem. Card PCI-express 3 G modem is not solution, in this niche will soon be a smart card reader.

Thank you to

  • ThinkPad Twist WWAN antenna?

I'm sure that many people will ask that, so I think that we need a clear answer from Lenovo.

For those who have not ordered a WWAN card in their original config is the WWAN antenna pre-installed on the screen or not?

My model came with the SSD, so the location where it is usually an mSATA cache is empty and there is the possibility to install the WWAN card. I took the keyboard and can see the empty slot, but there are no cables to the WWAN antenna only those for the WLAN that are already connected to the wireless network card.

So the question is: is the antenna WWAN missing or hidden on the screen?

    @ciuvak...

I can understand the configuration of my X 220.

MPCIe slot which would be installed the WWAN card is empty, and as you describe in your turn, there is no only antenna cables in the region. My machine has been configured and sold as no WWAN-extensible, to my knowledge, which means no antennas. Configured and sold as WWAN-stretch models have wires installed and went into the appropriate area near the slot (not hidden in the screen), so that all that is needed is a WWAN FRU approved card.

I would say, that if you do not see the son, they have not been installed.

    I'm sorry.

Edit: You would like to take a look at the Manual of Maintenance of equipment. Pages 63-65 installing the card and pages 86-88 the antenna if you consider installing the wires. Please do not forget that LCD assemblies on shelves are considerably more difficult than on the shelves. At least in my experience. In addition, the LCD screen Assembly is not a task for the end user. If something bad happens while it is open, warranty service may be questionable.

  • WWAN card and wire antennas for E7440

I bought a couple of computers Latitude E7440 and I need to install a Verizon 4 G WWAN card in one of them. In the past I have bought from 6430U and have bought and installed used DW5800 (Novatel E362) and they worked very well, even if I had to do some monkey business to get the drivers installed.

Now, I try to install the DW5800 (Novatel E362) of cards in the E7440. The strange thing is that there is no antenna cable to connect the WWAN card, even if it doesn't seem to be a small channel in the chassis. Antenna drivers only I see go to the Wifi card.

I called in parts of Dell and the associate said "the list of parts shows not all antenna son so he need not". I'm pretty skeptical of this.

The map recommended for the E7440 is the DW5808 and he indeed ports antenna on this subject. I didn't found any E7440 to sell broadband installed with network cards. Either they are not available to the general public on the Dell Web site, or maybe they simply do not exist.

So, I'm just trying to understand what card I use and how I am supposed to connect any wireless antenna.

I opened a case of pension guaranteed with Dell and they came out to replace the backcovers by those who would have included WWAN antennas. It turned out that the backcovers were the same as those that I had (Dell part number F9Y55) and does not include the WWAN antenna. More research indicates that the backcover G3D2K is one that includes a WWAN antenna, but it also seems to be able of E7440 the high-resolution LCD and Wi - GIG, which mine does not.

I called Dell sales department to see what happens if I tried to buy an E7440 with WWAN and they told me that currently none of their configurations would include WWAN option, but they gave no explanation for this.

I think the obvious answer is that at the time now by using the WWAN in the E7440 probably is not an option. If you wanted to buy that with the support of Wi - GIG you might at least find some wire antennas and could try to install one of the DW580x cards and see what is happening at your own risk.

  • The T400 2768 L 35 WWAN is ready?

Hi, I bought a T400 2768 L 35 (impossible to find this serial number in the standard list, but that's what it says on the bottom plate of my laptop) my university IT shop a couple of years. I have a 3G compatible SIM card and I would use it on my laptop to surf the net. I found SIM card but did not see any WWAN card in Device Manager. Is there a way I can go online via WWAN? Or am I doomed to rely on wifi

    Welcome to the community.

as long as it has not changed, this is the hardware configuration for your machine:

    ThinkPad T400 (2768-L35): T9600(2.8GHz), 4 GB of RAM, HD 500 GB at 5400 RPM, LCD 14.1 in 1280 x 800, 256 MB ATI Radeon HD3470, CD-RW/DVD-RW, Intel 802.11agn, option WWAN, Bluetooth, Modem, 1 Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure Chip, reader of fingerprints, camera, 4 c Li-ion, Win7 Pro 32

the key word above is option. because you do not see a device WWAN in DM, you have probably no card installed. you mention you location SIM, then you probably also have the WWAN antenna, but for sure, you can check if you are comfortable pulling the palmrest and keyboard. Please see the hardware maintenance manual here:

    http://download.Lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/43y6629_04.PDF / pg100-101.

If you find the sons of antennas not connected, all you need is a proper map and drivers. the important thing to consider is that the card must be on the BIOS 'white list' trusted network devices. If you scroll down to pg150 of the HMM, you will see the map in the exploded views as ex. No. 25. scroll further down to pgs273-275 who see there are 3 cards listed with their #s FRU. While you are looking to buy, be sure to get a genuine FRU role, rather than a generic/universal model.

Finally, you can get the driver of the pilot matrix, here:

  • Details on the modem Helix WWAN mobile broadband?

I buy a propeller for more use in Africa. I'm curious if the included modem works on the bands out there. There is not much details given on the order page. The country that I will use the GSM 900 frequency band. I'm guessing that their 3G networks could be on a different band?

In any case, any ideas if the mobile broadband modem will work abroad?

    Thank you!

    Seth

My modem is not locked to any medium.

Just be very careful, if you buy a non 3G model, it will probably have the WWAN antenna and no slot for sim card. And then you can buy a Lenovo modem, otherwise it will not work if it is not on the whitelist.

I could call a sales representative in the United States and see if you can buy a version with unlocked modem.

  • dm3-1105ea WWAN ready or not?

Hi, I have a dm3-1105ea with SIM card (on drums). I know this model not including wwan card, this feature is opcional and each DM3 model, including the SIM card.

I have now, I want to buy a modul WWAN gobi 2000 (it is good add-on?), but the problem is, I don't see the antenna cables. I know that the antenna is inside the screen lcd, but I'm not sure that this is true, because I do not see the antenna cables. This model is WWAN ready or not? When ready, where the cables? Otherwise, and I buy a WWAN card, I need thing an antenna, but I can't fix the antenna on the lcd screen.

What type of solution is, if I want to use the WWAN card?

    Concerning

    So, it's not about WWAN!

But you can change the material. I bought a un2420 Gobi 2000 card and drove a WWAN antenna. After that I downloaded the service manual and the laptop dissambled. After that, I have fixed the WWAN antenna and leads into the cover. Put in the card and the connecteg leads from the antenna. After, I downloaded the Gobi WWAN driver from HP support. Install the driver. Open the HP Wireless Asistans and turn on the WWAN connection. And work!   We are lucky, because the SIM card is attached to the motherboard.  And as GPS working as well!   All price: 38 pounds (WWAN card antenna + on eBay).

    Kind regards!

As shown in my X 1 is a model 3444 do not have in front of me to the final sequence of the model number. There the 3667U i7 with the 256 GB SSD. Can I install a WWAN card in this model to allow Mobile broadband through my operator ATT?

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_AU/

Enter the full model number in the QUICK ACCESS path, that will tell if you machine is expandable WWAN or not. If this is the case, then you have the 2 WWAN antenna and all you need is to do is to get the correct WWAN card.

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_AU/product-and-parts/detail.page?&docid=PD025329

This parts list you the required number of part of the WWAN card, you can get the part with parts of IBM. Don't forget the ThinkPad X carbon 1 and carbon Touch uses a non-standard mPCIe WWAN card.

If your machine is not extensible WWAN, this means that you are missing the WWAN antenna. You can get and install it yourself, but requires disassembly of the LCD too, which can cause damage to the machine and is not recommended (warranty does not cover these services free and damage).

If you are convinced that you are skilled enough to do the update of the WWAN card, you can study the HMM, that shows you all that to do the upgrade.

  • WWAN ready / able

    Hello

I'm looking for laptops with built-in WWAN.  However, I don't see this option when I'm shopping at the official site. In the wireless section, the only choice is related to the Wifi / bluetooth, WWLAN No.

Is it possible to eliminate all the ThinkPad team WWAN?  or does show anywhere if the model is ready WWAN or WWAN capable?  Thank you!

    Hello

where are you looking for mobile shopping? Look at this page and you will find an example of x 230 configuration with or without built-in 3 g and even the modem LTE (Yes, for the United States only).

My skills and supervision tell me any new generation of ThinkPad (x 230 including) are wwan ready i.e. resume adapter card wwan antenna kit and sim (of course, if they have free mini pci-e slot). But the statement - "WWAN ready" or 'WWAN Option' - is now missing in the description of the laptop on the Lenovo support site as we have seen earlier. And you can adapt wwan card yourself later.

Also, look at the options to display Type on the page of my link above. You see that all screens are made up of antennae kits, i.e.laptop is ready wwan in all cases.

  • My Netbook Mini has the WWAN capability?

    Please forgive my ignorance lingual...

    I have a HP Mini 110-3130 NR Windows 7, 1 GB

My daughter is in the Corp of peace in South Africa and only has a cell phone connectivity.

This particular Mini will allow Internet, using a cellular connection. There is no Wifi available.

If so, how? Is there something that plugs into the USB port, a card or what?

    TIA!

A laptop needs more of a slot for sim card.

I bet you that the laptop of the OP has a sim card slot.

What it doesn't have, is a WWAN card, nor the antennas that the WWAN card has need to get good reception.

Without a WWAN card and WWAN antenna, the SIM card slot is useless.

  • Pavilion dv4-2155dx and WWAN

I'm looking to pick up a Pavilion dv4-2155dx to replace my Pavilion dv4-1435dx.  Does anyone know if the 2155dx comes with the built-in WWAN antenna?  I know that this model is not more product, and everything I find says that WWAN is an option, but it could simply mean the WWAN card, with antenna already built into the screen.  I just want to assure you before I pull the trigger.

If this is not the case, this model, can anyone recommend one of the Pavilion would have integrated WWAN antenna?  I already have the WWAN card, I don't want to just not had to disassemble to install the antenna.  In addition, it must be a former Pavilion dv model because I use the HP xb4 Docking Station Media and do not want to give it up.

    Thank you!

  • Pavillion DV4 - add WWAN - Possible card?

Now, before it all goes further: Yes, I know , I can simply add a USB WWAN solution and I thank those who might suggest that, but this isn't what I want to do. Don't mean to be rude, just want to go to the essence of what I seek to do and get answers for this purpose only.

I am interested in adding a WWAN card on my laptop Pavillion DV4.  I opened the compartment where the card should go and see that the location is available.  What so I'm looking at?  Is it really that [relatively] easy, adding just the card, or is there something I'm missing here?

I watched the maintenance manual for the DV4 and see that it mentions the WLAN and WWAN antenna under the screen.  Network card wireless antennas attached to it, but in the compartment where the card WWAN would go there is no antenna that I see.  Does this mean that he is no antennas as part of the screen, or just simply not visible from the compartment?  And, more important still, actually kills any possibility of using WWAN via this minimap (except rewiring the frame of the screen, of course)?

Want to play mad scientist with this project and I know that I can make it work, but I could use some answers from someone who has a knowledge of this machine.  I can take it from there.

Thanks in advance for any feedback/input; We appreciate it!
