None of my U.S.B.ports work. all the drivers are up to date. Everything else on the laptop works OK

I'm not an ACE computers, handyman just around learning I. My mouse stopped working, my computer is a multimedia laptop Medion I had since 2009. My H.P.deskjet d5500 has been added printer wants to print but cannot read ink levels, so does not print. And I discovered that I can now import images. My camera is hard to connect to the computer. Made a finder driver scan and all drivers are up to date.  It happened all at once. Everything else is working O.K. My computer is analyzed viruses once a week. None were found.  I don't know I just pressed something I shouldn't have.
I would be very grateful if someone could answer this beginner.   Lyn.

[Moved from comments]

I opened the Manager of design, seems to be an error on the legacy of the basic systΦme.
This problem is recent.
Tried to use the system restore. I'm in areas I'm not really sure, so at this point, I think I'll let it go and ask someone to come to the House and show me what I did wrong.  I thank you for your help and have a nice day.

If you have loaded and installed DM, it loads the appropriate drivers to put the USB ports. You are well.

  • Choice of the COM ports without disturbing the user

I am writing a LabVIEW application that uses at least 2 COM ports.  It will compile to run on different computers.  Now, I expect that to any one machine COM ports will remain fixed, but there is no way I can wait devices series that I use to make it appear in the same COM port on all the different machines (especially since some will have legacy RS232 ports, any other USB RS232 converters).

It is a problem that I solved before when programming in 'C', by putting a text file on each PC, which, in the spirit of a name of INI file which COM port is used for each of the devices, I need.

It occurs to me that I can do exactly the same thing in LabVIEW, open a text file and parse to see which COM ports are named, then use the number that results as the selector of a structure of MATTER, in which each case has a constant (VISA resource) COM1, COM2, and so on.

It of crazy, or is there an easier way?

To try it out, a problem occurs, and it is that I can not create constants for ports that do not exist on the computer I developed it on (I use 2009).  Well, I can go in the WIndows Device Manager and do a reallocation to finally get a full set of COM ports for my CASE structure, but I can trust to LabVIEW to not change because ports disappear?

    Thank you

p.s. I think that this is my first post, came here often before but always found the answer without affectation.  My apologies if this point is already covered, but it seems a little too "woolly" to lend itself to the research without getting tens of thousands of results.

You don't need a deal structure for each port.

You can use the variant data to convert a string into a VISA reference name.

Attached is an excerpt from one of my programs, I retrieve Comport settings from a configuration .ini file.

There are a few things of special on this subject.

    1. I used a typedef had enum that designates each of my interest com ports.

    2. I have stored reference to the port com VISA in a global variable functional so I can use them elsewhere.  Typedef enum is important as part of the selection to get the correct reference to the FGV.

    3. I used a public OpenG function get strings to enum so that my string name that I use for the value of the key and enum are cross referenced.

    Hello

Check the status of the device in Device Manager. Follow the steps for the same thing:

    a. click on start

    b. click Run, in the Run dialog box type devmgmt.msc

    c. in the Device Manager window, locate the USB key and expand the drive, double-click the sub element to check if an error message or error code is listed.

If there is no error message highlight Bus USB controllers and then click Action select check for material changes.

  • My headphone port works not

the headset I tried to work on any other device, but not this laptop. even, the lap top does not record that the headphones are connected. I tried all the stuff I saw this site to recommend. None of this has worked. This is a fairly old laptop, and this has been a problem that has persisted.

    Hi Ncleknt,

1 when was the last time it was working fine?

    2. the internal speakers work well?

    3. did you of recent changes on the computer?

I suggest that you connect other headphones to the port and check if it works.

If using the internal speakers, then the ports do not work and you will need to get in touch with the laptop manufacturer for assistance.

You can remove the hard drive and put it in a USB Enclosure.Plug USB port, another machine, where you should be able to go through it and copy your photos off on the hard drive of the host computer.

  • Satellite L - a single USB port works

    Hello

I've had this laptop for a few months and I could not do all the USB ports work, the system recognizes all the but work alone. If I check the system it says ports are working properly and that it has the latest driver but when I do anything, a mouse, USB KEY, connect headsets to listen nothing, only one of the ports to recognize hardware.

    Can someone help me?

    Hi alecarrill63,

It would be interesting to know what laptop you have exactly and what operating system you are using.
Can you post this important information?

In your case, I will try to update the Web from Toshiba site chipset driver

But theoretically, if only a single USB port works, the other ports may be defective and therefore, it would be necessary to replace the motherboard. :(

  • USB ports work very strange on my new Satellite L650D-100

Hello, toshiba loaptop users and professional!

Last week, I bought toshiba L650D-100 with windows 7, 64 bit. Everything is good, but the USB ports work strange:

USB mouse works ok at a port and does not to another. It is not in the windows Device Manager, but if I connect or disconnect the device, it sounds "ding".
With USB storage there is another problem: it appears in Device Manager and it is shown that drivers are ok and the device are working properly, but if I try to open it in Explorer, it crashes, green progress bar grows and stops at the end. This problem appears in the two ports.

If I reboot laptop with usb storage pluged, it can start to work correctly, but if I unplug and plug again the problem reappear.

Usb storage and usb mice work well on another computer. I've updated the bios, but it does not help.

Help, please. Maybe I should try to reinstall the chipset driver? If so, where could I get?

    Hey,.

    > This may somehow worry about supply management food or feeding issues?
In my opinion it has nothing to do with the power supply, or you may notice that the problem appears not on battery mode?

In my opinion, you should follow the instructsions posted by Akuma. Recovery facility will show you if it s a hardware or software problem. ;)

  • Satellite 4100XCDT: how the IRDA port works under DOS

I have a Toshiba Satellite 4100xcdt. How do I assign a COM port to the IRDA (infrared) port in the BACK so I can use programs such as Winsamp
    http://www.veg.Nildram.co.UK/remote.htm

The BIOS assigns COM1 and COM2 serial port to the built-in modem. However there is not a single option for the IRDA port not found.

How can I make the IRDA port works under DOS?

In my opinion it of not possible to use the IrDA DOS, because drivers must be installed and initialized.
The IrDA port driver is a common Windows driver and the irda connection works only when windows was loaded

  • How to get USB ports work on Portege M400?

I'm not able to get the memory card flash, cameras and iPods recognized when plugged into the USB port of my M400.

I've updated all windows software and all the drivers that I can find.

When a device is plugged in the found new hardware dialog box sometimes - but of course a driver is never found.

I explored the forum extensively and tried to remove the USB driver in the hope that to restart the drivers would be reinstall correctly - they don't have - in fact the system doesn't seem to be able to find the USB driver at all and now I get a lot of error messages and unknown hardware tries to install.

I have a backup from 1 day - an image made using real image Neil - trying to restore what I ought to be able to boot from the CD ROM - this certainly does not happen with my current set up - how do I do - no doubt, I have to change something in the BIOS - how to access the BIOS - the manual is particularly short info here.

So how do the two fundamental problems - I get the USB ports to work - it is certainly a problem with the computer everything works fine when I try these devices on other computers.

And how the CD ROM is configured to boot from a bootable CD?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions - this has been a persistent problem that is starting to become quite frustrating.

    Ian

    Hello

First of all this isn't a hardware problem, but simply the software problem.
I see that you have tried to install different external USB devices. Most of these devices require special software which is always supplied with the product.

I put t know what you have installed and removed from the system, but it looks like you've ruined the whole OS.
In this case I recommend installing the OS from the recovery CD.

To boot from the CD, you must insert the CD in the CD/DVD drive and press the F12 key immediately after switching on the laptop. This procedure should allow the start menu, from which you can choose the right boot device (ODD).

Notes; USB drivers are provided by the Windows operating system.

In addition if you want to use your iPod, you need to install iTunes software! Without this software, the iPod does not work!

    Good bye
