NSLU2 Dead - no lights, power seems to be OK.

Hi all

My long in the tooth nslu2 (2006?) has abandoned - he was out of the network this morning and won't start at all.

No light, no sound - nothing.

Food seems to be dishing out about 5.3V - so I don't think that.

What are my options?

Thank you

Tony Jewell

Has taken apart - if two jumps of the electrolytic capacitors. All is well again.

I hope that this is not part of electrolytic defective batch - if our slugs could be reached end of life.

There must be a serious problem with electronic power (motherboard) so I guess there is nothing you can do about it. Bring it to the Toshiba service and ask for help.
In such cases mainboard needs to be replaced, so it can be very expensive for you.

Maybe it's time for the new laptop computer.

  • M100 - flashing light power supply (ac or battery).

    Hello
I just bought a laptop M100 a few weeks back and it was fine. The other day I was playing with the password Toshiba utility I ran into XP. I put a password on it for I think has the power on function. I then rebooted the machine and now it initializes more.

When I turn it on, the power led (2nd from the left, between the AC-in and battery) lights green as usual for a split second, then flashes orange in a balance on ground. There is no display, no hard disk activity, and it will not power off unless I have the button for 10 seconds. The fan also seems shot at high speed right away, which does not occur normally.

I have tried with and without battery, without hard disk, without RAM or battery cmos. Same problem every time! I can't even start up TOSHIBA start screen.

Someone pleeease help me. I'm at a loss as to what it could be. Also, it seems that no one on the net have reported this problem before.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

More details: the capslock button light does not answer, but not the light of the FN key. By pressing any button on the keyboard results in a beep slightly delayed.

    Hello

Well, firstly the password of Toshiba utility allows you to set two levels of password security user password and supervisor password. This function prevents any unauthorized access to your computer.
    What password do you have?
As far as I know there are two ways to start the computer:
Insert a password token before turning on the computer. The computer will boot normally, without displaying a prompt of password or enter the password manually.

In addition, the second light on the left side is a power indicator. It lights up green when the computer is turned on. If you turn off the computer in recovery mode, this indicator flashes in orange (a second to two seconds) while the computer shuts down.

Well, I put t know why you can boot the unit t, but please also check password settings in the BIOS. Here, you can try to remove this password.

  • No satellite A60-173 no light power - adapter ok

    Hi guys.

The A60 were to be driven out by removing the battery. Now it does not start and the power light does not even come. What is a good guess (hope?) does it blow the FUSE on the motherboard? I guess the power light comes almost directly from taking - and the adapter has the right voltage.

Based on this - it seems to me - just a fuse or an electronic breath could stop the power light on?

    Any thoughts?

    Hello

I agree with the previous user, and I really think that you can not do anything. The laptop must be disassembled. There must be a problem with the power port on the motherboard. Contact the service and let them check your laptop.

  • Y410p dead. No power.

With the help of my Ideapad Y410p this morning (six months), the computer suddenly crashed and without warning of any kind. Directly to the black screen and the lights went out. I thought that maybe it has overheated and shut down as a kind of security measure, like my old Dell used for this. The laptop was hot, but I saw him become warmer and continue to exercise.

Now I can not be able to come back. By pressing the power button don't get any sort of noise or lights. Tried to disconnect the battery and AC power for a while and still does not. Held down power button / stop several times see if it would hand over to zero anything. He opens the lid and thrown a shot look but don't see anything wrong. Jumps to the RAM cards. He's just dead in the water.

All this experience and know a fix? Or do I need to deposit? I hope it can be fixed without losing everything on my hard drive.

You may need to call Lenovo to repair.

  • NSLU2 dead?

    Hello world

I got my NSLU2 for a few days and had no luck with it, I can't be seen from the network. I'm on the edge to return it, but it of a nice camera and hate go back if I could get it to work again, but just something miss me.

Out of the box, I followed the instructions to the wire, but to step 8, where it says "you are about to change the settings... "I click OK, and then waited. After a few minutes, it gave an error saying that it could not communicate with the device. Since then I have never seen back on the network.

I flashed with the latest firmware from Linksys (06/07/2005, ver. 2.3R63) using the program upslug2 (after some difficult Windows login with the updater series I used a Ubuntu live disk). This flash has been a success, but the nslu2 behavior is exactly the same.

I hit the button to reset for about 2 seconds and waited 30 minutes

I hit the button to reset for 10 seconds and waited..,.

I unplugged for about 10 minutes, and then back in and waited.

I also realized my 192.168.1. * network used instead of 192.168.0. *, but I am that too without a change in behavior after either type of reset.

Behavior seems normal from all the forums and the info I've read, it starts flashing the light within a few seconds of being powered and stops just never.

I missed something? What can I try now? The flash to an older firmware... ?

    Thanks for your help,

    Brett

All I had to do was set up my router to not auto-negotiation ethernet settings, now all is fine! Who built a device these days who can not handle auto... weird!

Okay, I guess I don't have to worry about that kind of thing in telnet. Now on what I wanted to do there are days, using the disk hard network!

    Thanks for your help.

  • (Redirected) Alienware is unresponsive and the power seems to fade in and out

I have an Alienware Aurora R3 of 2012 desktop computer running the updated Windows 7 which will randomly have issues (sometimes after 2 hours, sometimes after 5 minutes) where the keyboard and mouse stop working (although light on the keyboard remains lit, the light on the fades of the mouse in and out) , and I can hear one of the fans in the computer running upward and slowing down repeatedly.  The Alienhead also of the cycles of its normal color to yellow, then rehearsals, in sync with the fan turns at the top and bottom.  The computer does not seem to stay active with programs still running.

I tried to replace the power supply with a different dell power supply (exact same model) and after a few hours, the problem started again.

I blew all the dust out of the computer twice with no success.

I would appreciate any suggestions and help.  Thank you!

I have a Toshiba 32D1334B LCD TV, it used to work perfectly well and then all of a sudden, it will not activate.
When I plug in the TV, the power automatically light flashes red and green permanently. There is no way to turn on the TV; the screen remains black.

I had to take off the back, watched and deleted all the parts, but can not see the obvious problems. I also a multimeter and power to the various sections of the TV is, but that's as far as my electrical knowledge goes!

I don't really know what else to try, but I am very reluctant to throw away the TV that I know it's probably a unique piece that needs to be replaced to fix it. I searched online and others have reported the same problem exactly, but it had not resolved there always. Unfortunately, TV is more under warranty... If anyone has any suggestions or can provide any help, then it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

  • My HP dv4-1145go is dead - no lights, no video, nothing.

A few months ago my dv4 has stopped working. It is a device I want to make it work, in order to prevail on the TRIPS Agreement and use it for email and web browsing.

My diagnostic skills are limited and a multimeter is the extent of my test. I don't want to spend money on the wrong parts, but I'm willing and able to replace the motherboard if it is the right solution. Given to nine are available on the Internet within my price range, which is around $100, as the machine is 5 or 6 years.

Your experts can help me greatly in commenting and suggesting steps that I take to diagnose the problem. Here's what I've done to date.

During the inspection, I first noticed that the power jack led was, so I traded the power adapter external with another one of HP brand and nothing has changed. I tried the power dv4 adapter, also with a label of HP, on my HP dv6700 and it worked correctly. So for now, I think my adapter is good.

Then, I removed the motherboard from the folder and it inspected for burnt components or other signs of deterioration. Nothing is obviously broken or burned, but I found a "fist" full of dog hair that I removed the fan. Don't know if it was enough hair to stop the fan and the overheating of the device. I worry about the processor is damaged, but do not know how to check. Any comments on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

To be on the safe side, I ordered a power supply and cable for a modest sum of money. He is yet to come, but seems to be a wise investment.

That is the measure of my efforts, and I hope that an expert will take my fate to heart and make comments and suggestions to help me find the cause of failure of the laptop. Then, I can better decide on the right solution.

    Thank you.

Thank you very much for the compliment and the suggestion to move forward. I'll do what you suggest. Look at this post for updates, but I can take the time in all this is done. Thanks again.

    Hello

Your product this talk of power management:
    90W AC adapter
    6-cell Lithium-ion (Li-ion)

Here is the product manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02968997.pdf

He said that these are appropriate:

Battery Li ion 6 cells 2.22Ah 47Wh (reference number: 593553-001)
Battery Li ion 6 cells 2.55Ah 55Wh (reference number: 593554-001)

When it comes to longevity & durability is I suggest you go the real HP battery, but it depends on your situation, I guess!
HP does not recommend generics of course!
With regard to the properties of the battery, I think just capacity means more time he'll support the power. Voltage must match.

Turn on/off with adapter / CC only leading to stop suddenly cause your whatever data to lose I think, RAM and cache memory gets erased unless it is stored in the HARD drive.

Here are a few online shops selling both those generic/original:

  • OK my programs seem to have understood copied and pirated my light money seems to be the entry door

How can I remove silverlight without having to do a full scan is a stripper

That info seems good enough and it prevents a bunch of other questions later if you can get all the information in a single message.

Why do you think that your problem has something to do with Silverlight?

Have you started having problems after you installed Silverlight?

There are several types of malware that will pop up messages saying that your system is infected (theyare the infection).  Sometimes, they try to scare you by going to their WWW site and pay for help (which you won't).  No legitimate program you won't change your passwords, so try not to be fooled by their disappointment.

Since there is a lot of different genres, trying to describe what the messages say it best you can since sometimes there are specific instructions to eliminate some of them.

If you can still boot, you may not need a CD quite yet - maybe you can make a copy of one from a friend later.

Try not to use the power switch, protective of surge or draw taking if you can help that might complicate things and you will need a CD.  Ineterruptions of power are the last resort and the most unpleasant.

Next we make a point of departure known for malware:

Do a few scans for malware, then we can fix any problems:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/

    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans by operating clean, then to solve any problems.

Do not guess what the problem might be - understand and resolve it. I need YOUR voice and the points for helpful answers and propose responses. I'm saving for a pony!

  • WRE54G dead - no lights on

I have a WRE54G and yesterday I noticed that my connection was very poor, so I checked the Extender and the two blue lights was on but I decided to hit the button Configure and see if this helped (have done it before).  When I did the two blue lights exploded, I tried pushing the reset button but it did nothing.  I have a second extension, so I plugged it in and it worked fine all day and night but this morning I had a blue light and a red.  Yet once I pushed the button set up and all the lights went dark, ideas, that can bring this back to life?

    Try this-

Press and hold the button of reset for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your Expander, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable...

1 connect your Expander to a computer, click the Start button > settings > Control Panel > network connections - right click on the Local area connection icon and go to properties - in the "Général" tab select "TCP/IP Internet Protocol" and click on the button properties-select "Use the following IP address" - IP address: 192.168.1.5, subnet mask - 255.255.255.0... Click on the Ok button to save and click 'Close' in the main window of properties - provide...

    2. now, open a page of wired Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.240.
Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase... It should open your Expander installation...

    3. Once you get to the configuration page, you can follow this link to change the settings of Expander...

NOTE: The link also says to check the settings of your router wireless...

    4. While changing the Expander settings, please make sure that the Wireless Settings(SSID/Network Name and WEP/WPA Key) are identical on the two devices (router and Expander)... Also be sure to change the default IP of the Expander to match your network and gateway address must be your router address... e.g. Expander IP address: 192.168.1.240(assuming adresse IP par défaut de votre routeur est 192.168.1.1) subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: 192.168.1.1...

    5. After configuring the Extender, you must disconnect from the computer and go to the Local network connection TCP/IP properties and set it back to get automatically the IP addresses... Disconnect the Extender from the computer and the two devices (Expander and router) power cycle... Your extension must be configured...

In case if you do not get the Expander set up just to leave connected to your computer and reset it for 30 seconds and follow step 2, step 3, step 4 and step 5...

    I hope this helps.

  • Difficulty in the light on the AC adapter and the power light power on after connect you to the laptop

HP Pavilion dv3t notebook. Each time get adapter connect to the laptop, it takes at least 10 minutes to get the AC adapter and power indicator light on. Sometimes it does not light on all day.  It always happens any with the battery or not.

If I start the laptop with the light on the AC adapter and the power light, no matter how I move the power cord, it maintains support, works very well.

But if I start the laptop without the light on the AC adapter and the power led on even with the, i.e. start with the battery as power, no matter how I move the power cord, the led on the AC adapter and the light, i.e. no charge. He stops until the battery drain.

I believe that the AC adapter is good. But I have no idea why he has trouble in the light on the AC adapter and the power light on after to connect to the laptop.

Dv6 had a somewhat similar problem that was treated with a BIOS upgrade. I watched the latest BIOS for your laptop and there is nothing about a problem of load, however. If it works very well and also a long time that you turn it on with the AC plugged in but only has a problem with loading when you connect the adapter Windows runs, I'm tempted to say that it is a software problem as a problem with Windows power management. Maybe if you remove the hard drive, power supply, switch it on with battery only, then plug the adapter when you run in a pre-Windows environment, we can see if the same problem occurs. If it was my cell phone, I would also like to do the update BIOS level, just to see if maybe it would affect something. I could also try to run it from a Linux Live disc any and see if the same problem occurs in another operating system. Last resort I would begin focusing on the issues of possible material, as a module of taking bad AC, which is an other replaceable part that requires no welding.
