I added a shortcut by clicking with the right button on a website, thinking I'd get a hot key and what I have now on my desk is the website home page. I want to remove it but I can not understand how to stop going to my office, please can some help me remove this direct shortcut.

I really don't understand how a web page can take over your desktop.  However, you should be able to use Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) to remove the web address or shortcut of "thugs."

You are able to open Windows Explorer from your own Win XP "user account"?  If so, follow the Instructions to remove at the end of this post.

Otherwise, each Win XP "User account" has its own customized desktop.  Desktop computers for all other user accounts should be affected.

Are there any additional "user accounts" with administrative privileges on your computer?
If Yes, sign, using a different user account.
Then, open Windows Explorer and follow the Instructions to remove at the end of this post.

If there is any additional "user accounts" with administrator privileges, start mode safe mode (no network).
Sign in the built in Administrator account.
(Unless you have already added a password to the administrator account construction, leave the field blank password)
Then, open Windows Explorer and follow the removal Instructions.
REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS
Open Windows Explorer and enable the display of files.
Then, expand the folder hierarchy.
Navigate down the tree of folders in C:/Documents and Settings / [name of your *] / Desktop
(*
Your name is the user account with the problem).
Look for the shortcut 'rogue' or the web address in the list of files.
On the assumption that the web address or the "rogue" shortcut is present, right click on it.
Click on delete - to delete the shortcut or the web address.

Then restart your normal user account.

  • Office shortcuts that open web sites no longer work after the update

After the last MS update for office my desktop shortcut icons that go to Web sites do not work... they open MS FrontPage? The shortcuts that installed programs work very well... only those who are open to something on the internet are affected and open the front cover.  I did a system restore and the shortcuts work now but I can't install updates.  What happened twice with the two latest Office updates... I have office 2010.  Updates did not affect my laptop that has the same programs installed, just my counter top.

Thank you... problem fixed... Here's what happened... After reading your instructions, I realized that http, https and ftp even not included in ther Protocol extensions below or anywhere?  After some research, I learned that this can occur after you uninstall Chrome that I recently did, did not chrome at all... so I put IE as default browser and these three extensions have emerged then I reset the Firefox browser... the problem is solved... these 3 extensions were not in the protocols causing my Office to open in first page shortcuts... • Vista - accounts - how to remove shortcuts from office (shortcuts to programs!) for an account without removing the program for another account.

    Help Cher,

    (1) I have the following accounts on my Vista Premium PC (Quad Core). Dad, Dad & mum, kidA, kidB. Some programs have a shortcut on multiple accounts, but these accounts do not have. It makes the overworked office. So I go to their desktop computer, press the shortcut and choose Delete. But it seems inevitable not to delete the program anywhere.

    (2) another point not clear to me, is that I expected to find items on the desktop to the C:\users\accountname or the D:\users\accountname. However, Dad's account is not present. Instead I find in the two readers on these posts my old account 'Eddy Kunnen', only in drive D the appropriate shortcuts are present under the desk. And the EddyKunnen account is also the only one on the D drive. I should find all items on the desktop under player: \users\accountname\desktop? And if so what could be wrong that Ii this account is not renamed to Dad. Is it possible to get all the C:\users\ accounts. Without doubt, I did something wrong in the past?

    Thank you in advance,

    Sincerely,

    Eddy

    Hello

    (1) desktop shortcuts are related either to the user or to all users. This means either:

C:\Users\\Desktop (where is the name of the account)

    or

    C:\Users\Public\Desktop

If a shortcut is located in the first folder, then it is specific to this user account. If in the second, it is common to all, so any action taken on this subject will apply to all accounts. If you don't want it in all accounts, copy it to the desktop folder corresponding to for those you do and remove of that Public.

    (2) you can change the name on an account, but it will not change the name of original in C:\Users. In other words, if the user creates an account, he will be under C:\Users\UserA. If subsequently, they changed their name to UserB, the real profile will always be under C:\Users\UserA regardless of the change of name, you cannot change this file name, only the friendly name of associated account. Thus, you cannot "relocate" the user account record without breaking a lot of things.

  • Probs Office: shortcuts and hot keys

I don't know if this is specific to Windows 7, but do not know where else to post it.

I just noticed that at least 3 shortcuts missing from my office (ago 50). They were placed not one so I don't know why these 3, or when or how. I don't have not find them in the trash.

So I recreated them. We had a shortcut key sequence are entrusted to him. I can't reassign that shortcut key sequence. When I press the keys, the window flashes, loses focus, and no error message appears. Pressing this shortcut key to see if there is something happening causes no apparent.

There is another shortcut with a keyboard shortcut that has not disappeared. This keyboard shortcut works very well.

I would like to re - assign the hotkey for the shortcut recreated. Does anyone have experience or a good thinking about it?

Operating system is windows xp sp3 32-bit

home page is currently "My Yahoo", although it doesn't seem to matter which is my home page.

    browser is IE8

    Three options.

1: take the corners of the window and drag it to the format full screen. Do not use to expand. Close all other windows first via the taskbar and the latter. Windows will remember the size of the last closed window the next time that you open the program.

2: any shortcut you use to launch the window, right-click, and select Properties. Under the 'Run' drop-down list, choose "expanded".

  • Why some of my website in my office shortcuts appear as "generic"?

I've read so many posts on this problem... my head is spinning!  One thing I hear is that it is not a question of MS, but a Web site.  I'm certainly not a computer genius, however, I have lived a little MS and IE remakes and I've never had a problem of creating an icon of office from a Web site that visually represented the site he has created.  Never had a problem, that is, until I downloaded IE8!  Half of my icons now appear as either the generic IE icon, the planet or a white 'piece of paper', with a small icon in the middle.  Most of them is all the icons I had on my desk for a long time.  Despite the fact that those who are kind enough to offer their wisdom and advice freely insist that this is how it has always been, a website, not a MS, problem, I disagree.  The common denominator almost people who have posted about this or similar questions, seems to be ie8.  Although several workaround solutions have been posted on other forums, the problem remains... that there is a problem!  A solution is what is required, and it's a shame that Microsoft has so little recognition for the source of their success, they continue to ignore this issue!

  • Desktop shortcuts won't open firefox after an update of the player software "shockwave."

I can go to my email and click on the links to web pages open firefox, but not the office shortcuts. This happened after being invited to install this software while trying to watch a video on facebook.

The URL bar is also known under the name of the address bar and the address bar, and Firefox he calls the "Awesome Bar" when combined with the search bar.

None of this is complicated - you enter the address of the site you want to visit, for example, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/in the URL bar. Firefox actually fills the http or www for you. If you want to know what URL, you enter "URL" for Google or similar search bar to search for this term.

  • How to create a shortcut on the desktop to window 8.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE A BOOK CAN BE PURCHASED FOR WINDOWS 8 BECAUSE I CAN'T FIND SIMPLE WAYS TO CREATE SHORTCUTS IN XP.

    Moved from feedback

Original title: OFFICE SHORTCUT WINDOW 8

IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND SIMPLE WAYS TO CREATE SHORTCUTS IN XP.

What kind of shortcut?  FWIW I just click right on my desk, new > shortcut and it gives then the shortcut Wizard:

    cmd.exe /c echo hi & pause

    Then he called Test.

It seems even easier that I remember XP.   For example do a right click of my new Test shortened reminds the complexity that someone just starting to create a shortcut could face.

  • I have 2 Mozilla Firefox on my desktop. They are both version 41.0.2 - in my installation and delete I find only one. How can I delete one of them?

I tried to update to Mozilla Firefox and I had another icon on my desktop. Now, I have Mozilla Firefox 2 and they are both Version 41.0.2. They are both exactly the same thing when I open the. I see only one on my add/remove program location so I won't delete it because I could delete them both. Can you help me?

You can remove one of the office shortcuts if both point to the same firefox.exe in the same Firefox program folder.
You can keep the one with the correct version information where the other is an older version of Firefox.
Note that Firefox 42 will come out next week (Tuesday).

  • Microsoft 2003 installation/reactivate/activation

    Dear Microsoft Answers:

This is regarding the Microsoft Answer sent/replied on June 21, 2012 from Dan at IT Associates.  Dan to associate IT recommended/suggested that I do the following:

From an account with administrator privileges:

    1. go to c:\documents and settings\your_user_account\desktop and either:

    (a) copy / paste the desktop shortcuts in this folder on matching funds to the other two accounts records

    OR

    b cut-and - paste the Office subfolder and/or shortcuts in this folder at c:\documents and settings\all Users\Bureau

    2. go to the menu c:\documents and settings\your_user_accounts\start and either:

    (a) copy - paste the Office subfolder and/or shortcuts in this folder on the corresponding files for the other two accounts

    OR

b cut-and - paste the Officesubfolder or shortcuts in the folder c:\documents and settings\all Users\Menu.

Sign out and then sign in as each of the three users to check that the start menu has the same Office subfolder and/or desktop shortcuts that had your user account, and that the Office shortcuts to the Office programs that were on the desktop of your user account.

On my other accounts two user, the yellow folder with the following shortcut for WI... is displayed.  On my user account, the big W appears within a white square inside a blue border.  On the Start Menu shortcut to WI... words appear next to the Microsoft Word icon.  Why the same does not appear in the Start Menu on my other two user accounts?  On my user account, Microsoft Word appears on the display both ways.

    Sincerely

Shortcuts tell you the actual file is elsewhere and the actual file information is shared.  You can create your own copy of the shortcut (for example, the shortcut for send to) and delete the shortcut and your menu send to this user will be considerably different from the others.

When you want to change the Start Menu, it is possible to navigate to "programs" and locate the shortcut that you want to display on the Start Menu. To add Microsoft Word from the start menu, try this: using your mouse, right click on the shortcut in the programs in office - says Microsoft Office Word - and select the "Pin to Start Menu" or the same way, "Pin to the taskbar.

    The menus are highly configurable.

  • Internet Explorer and Firefox immediately the accident

I have a Windows XP computer that has problems with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox webbrowser.

Neither one will open the office shortcut menu or anywhere else.  When you double-click the icon of the hourglass will be pop up for a brief second or two, then stop.  If you try to double-click the icon of Firefox the second time, it evokes a crash report.  The pc has internet connection, I know this cause, we were able to get updares for Microsoft, Antivirus and a Malwarebytes program.  I also ran a virus and malware to see and both came back perfectly fine. It seems to me that it's an admin setting, as if the admin did not give other users rights to use, but it has begun since Monday and last Friday, they were able to use it normally.  They are on a field, at first I thought that this might have been a connection problem.  I wanted to remove the pc of the field and back, but did not know that the domain password and none made the worker.  Apparently they have a crew of tech OK but they never come down and they always use remote access to their problems (if you ask me which is pretty cheap).  So, without being able to check if it's an issue of domain, rights user programs or else I couldn't fix this pc last night and since then I'm going crazy to explain why this issue is not solveable yet.

As I told my client last night, "I must get home and meditate on this one, it's a bit confusing... »

But my question: is there a way to bypass the admin to check the settings of other users access rights to the programs?  Or is there a fix I could use to temporaily give rights to the user?
