OfficeJet 6500 disconnects... Help! Boring

OK, had an earlier version of the 6500 and it worked very well, buy a new a month ago and I want to pull out my hair.  Whenever I want to print wireless it says that it is offline.  Then I have to go to the printer through the wireless configuration, enter the password (like my comcast router doesn't have a reset button).  It's a major pain in the nerve.  I turned off the option to save, I changed the address IP etc... nothing works

Another thing you can think of to help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm not a huge techie pretend if you ask a child of 10 years!

Thank you very much!!

What is a 6500 or a 6500 a?

This may be caused by your router.  Provided by the ISP routers are, well, unusual and sometimes they don't play well with printers.

We will set a static IP address in this way:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you don't know what it is, on the last set of numbers something comme.250
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the bridge and the first DNS. Let the second white.
-Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • OfficeJet 6500, need help to connect to it wirelessly!

Help! I somehow found like the guy from the 'IT' to my business even though I'm not really a computer guy, I'm just a guy. We have an Office Jet 6500 e709n, and I need two laptops to be able to print to it wireless.

I have read both of these threads that cover the same subject,

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/PSG/board/message?board.ID=networking&thread.ID=3366

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/PSG/board/message?board.ID=networking&thread.ID=3064

but this still does not work for me. Both the printer and the laptop are connected to the same wireless router. When I try to print, I just get no response from the printer at all and just the document in the queue.

Another obstacle is that when you run the install disc, I get a message saying "the specified service does not exist as an installed service."

Oh, I should maybe mention that the printer works fine when the USB is connected.

    Sequip,

My problem was solved just in the other forum.  It had to do with the netdevicemanager is not loaded on my system.  Check out the following thread and see if that solves your problem.

  • OfficeJet 6500 E709N Continously disconnects!

Does anyone have a solution to this problem.  If I only use for a while and try to print wireless, I get the message that the printer is offline!  It's getting to be a pain in the booty!  If I wanted to get up and click on the button to put it online whenever I print, I would have bought a wired printer instead.  Help!

I suspect it's the PING you send print that causes our SW to re-establish contact with the printer.  Define a static in the printer IP address, while a good idea for these PC running, probably did not help in your case.

There is one more thing to try if you're interested - manually install to the queue of the printer and work around the HP Solution Center.  Here is the sequence to XP:

    1. Click on > start > Control Panel > printer.
    2. Click the "add a printer". The "Add a printer" dialog box opens.
    3. Click 'Next' in the dialog box "Welcome to the add printer" Wizard.
    4. Select "local printer" in the dialog box that are local or network printer.
    5. Under Select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and choose "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next".
    6. In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port Wizard" make sure that the printer is enabled and configured. Click on the button "next".
    7. Under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the IP address of the printer (since you have a static IP address, otherwise I would have you set hostname of the printer).
    8. Now, select HP (Hewlett-Packard) in the list of manufacturers, select Officejet 6500 the printer models list and click the button "next".
    9. The name of the printer is highlighted in the next window. Click on 'Next' button.10. It will ask you the name of the printer - leave the default value.
    10. Click 'Yes' to make it the default printer. Click on the button "next".
    11. The Page of Print Test box.
    12. Select 'Yes' to print a test page.
    13. Click on the button 'Finish' to complete the installation. Given that HP services knows of this queue, it will not try to disconnect.
  • Does everything except officejet 6500 still won't print black not - help!

    Hello

HP Officejet 6500 E709a, purchased in June 2011, stopped printing in black ink one day last week.  Quickly, I ordered new ink and replace the cartridge.  When he wouldn't even print I started troubleshooting and followed all the steps.  After cleaning the print head, a few letters of a printed page, but no more than that.  This gave me hope so I ordered a new print head, which was installed today.  No improvement, so I replaced the color ink cartridges and reinstalled the black cartridge, which all appear to be properly ventilated.  Still no improvement. only a few shadows black letters.  It is by generating messages "alignment" or "ink system failure".  So now, I replaced all the ink cartridges and the print head.  It prints color but not black.

Really, I love this printer and have had no problems in the past.  It's only a little over a year and I do not use it too.  I didn't do a new printer and now that I have invested $100 in ink and Geraldine Chief I would like it to work.  Help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

  • With the help of printer wireless HP Officejet 6500 with Windows 8.

I have a HP Officejet 6500 wireless all-in-One printer and a laptop from Samsung with Windows 8.  How can I select print all, selection or Pages (option) when you print a document online or on my computer?

I use a printer-E709n and thank you and all the others to try to help me with this problem, but I found the solution to my problem.  It seems that not all e-icons are not created equal.  I have internet access of the e icon on the start page of Windows 8 when I should have access through the e icon on the office page.  They take you to two different pages.  Open Web page through the e-icon of the start page has no internet tool gear symbol in the header (the symbol of charm tool gear does not bind to the printer either) and clicking on Ctrl-P does not bring to the top of the window to print even as in previous versions of Windows.  My spirit guide was able to get this information for me.

  • Need help: Officejet 6500 E709n wireless installation

After a month of successful use of the Officejet 6500 from my laptop (running XP Professional SP 3) wireless I suddenlly lost the connection. I have recently added a new software. I couldn't add the printer because it is not visible, even by using its IP address) to attempt to reinstall the drivers. I tried the original CD and both the full and scan and print install download options, both hang on to 94% full.  I used the HP help nothing works cat. The HP network diagnostic utility sees the printer and the fine network and does not indicate any problem. Yet, no installation or the HP Print diagnostic utility programs can see the printer.  I tried each facility several times, including repeat downloads. I am able to access the wireless printer from a Vista desktop and another laptop running Windows 7. The printer (and functions) works very well.  However, the XP laptop is my machine of the company, and I need it to work.  Any suggestions? Is there a way to install all the drivers without all the other stuff?

If printing is all you need, then I can help you.

    1. Go to the printers and Faxes folder, and click Add a printer.
    2. Now select "Locally connected printer" and UNCHECK "automatically detect the device.
    3. Now on the next screen, choose to create a TCP\IP port for the IP address of the printer.
    4. On the next screen, you will be asked to select the driver. Click on the 'Disk' button, then browse and select the file "autorun.inf" of the printer installation disc. Now the printer driver appears. Go ahead and select it.
    5. Complete the add a Printer Wizard and try printing.

I would like to know if it works.

All proposals/solutions.  Am disappointed right now with the Hp Printer.  Online tech solution was to place shortcuts to scan ap and says the printer works perfectly like her without the Center as well as the fax, but cannot fax from word doc.

In addition, I don't have the help files to set up the printer.  Any help on that would be great.

    There could be two questions

    1. your computer does not have a more recent version. Please download and install. Now reinstall the hp software

    2. if above does not work. disable the firewall (including the windows firewall) and check the solution Center.

    A few ideas

If you have not done for awhile, you may download and install a new copy of the software full functionality.  Reference: install the full features software - printer

If the printer is located where you can do so, you could try a wired connection to the router.

You could try the printer of the assign a static IP address.

Make sure that there is at least 1 meter / 3 feet between the printer and all wireless devices you want to connect.  Too much is as bad as too far away...

Paw through all ideas / suggestions / information in the exceptional User Guide of this printer - network setup Section starting on Page 222.

  • HP Officejet 6500 E709n: HP Officejet 6500 E709n - ink system failure error message.

I have a printer HP Officejet 6500 E709n.  I get the following error message when I turn on the printer:

'Ink system failure.  "Please turn printer off, then on.

I then do as instructed and turn the printer off, but then the whenever I re - turn on the printer, I get the same error again.  The printer is now fixed to the top and none of the buttons on the printer works except the Power button on / off.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

    Hi @recooke,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I see that you can not use your HP Officejet 6500 Wireless. You get a printer fault to "turn printer off and then on again" you did without success.

    Please perform a hard reset:

    1. disconnect all cables and cards of memory in the printer.  Unplug the power cord, directly from the back of the printer when the printer is still on.

    2. unplug the other end of the power cord.

    3. If there is a power supply on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.

    4. at the end of 60 seconds, plug it directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or battery backup).

    5. connect the power cord to the back of the printer.

    6. the printer should automatically power back upward.  If not, turn it on with the power button.

    7. try to make a photocopy (if your printer is an all-in one) before you connect the cables from the printer.

    8. connect the other cables needed to the printer.

It is recommended that the printer is plugged directly into a wall socket to ensure a uniform level of power.  Sometimes, when plugged into a surge protector or battery backup, the quantity of electricity is not received by the printer.  Power problems can cause printing problems.  It is particularly important to be plugged directly into a wall outlet with wireless connectivity problems, "sleep mode" and other power problems.

    Any change?

If you still see the error, please check your Inbox. I sent you a private message on the Forums.

Response with the result. I hope this helps.

  • Apple Airprint for HP Officejet 6500 has more via a wired connection to the router

    Hello

So I did a considerable amount of research in this through the internet and this forum and I still struggle to find a satisfactory solution.

I have a HP Officejet 6500 a more connected by ethernet to my BT Homehub 3.

It is I understand that even if there is a wired connection, as long as my iOS device (iPad 2 or iPhone 5) is connected to the same router, I should still be able to see this Officejet thanks to ease of airprint.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. I get the message "No Airprint Printers Found" on both devices. The only way I managed to get my Mac Pro (Mavericks) to connect has been add to mannualy by using the IP address of the printer.

Can anyone provide guidance on what I might hurt? Certainly, the printer must connect internet I can print from my iOS devices using HP ePrint app for iOS.

Some might say, well, what's the problem, just use the HP application, but is not the point. I think that if something has been set up to make things easier, then use it. I chose this printer specifically for this feature is a bit frustrating for her so difficult to get the desired results.

Hope it is something simple and anyone can help you.

    Thank you

    Steve

Following this request and reading the many more similar questions, I think I may have solved this.

I'm not 100% sure but I read a few threads suggests that there are issues around BT Homehub 3 and Hello so this can be a problem.

I tried the following in the past two days...

    (1) completely don't reset my router (wiped all settings and started)-no luck!

    (2) I tried changing to WPA2 to just WPA security - no luck!

    (3) tried to convey the Hello to the printer ports - no luck!

    (4) turn off the router, printer and all the devices iOS then fed back router, printer, then iOS devices - printer appears on iOS devices, but when printing was selected iOS device returned on several occasions not connected printer error.

Finally, what seems to have made (at least for now) has been...

    (1) disconnected the Officejet ethernet and set up as wireless.

    (2) off voltage router, printer and all iOS devices then propelled upward in the order listed previously.

    (3) so far, I tried to print a mail and a web page of my iOS devices, and both have been successful.

By the way I've been struggling also to airplay from my iPhone / iPad until I started messing around with the settings above, and now this question also seems to be resolved.

Due to the variety of combinations (different printers, routers, etc.) people will have, it seems to be quite difficult to find a solution that solves a single problem but I hope some of my experiences and findings could help others in some way.

  • OfficeJet 6500 wireless mode ensures no wake upward

I have a wireless 6500 newly installed.  Once he falls asleep for a while (on the order of hours), he refuses to wake up.  The power button and not another button on front of it will bring to life, is not accessible via radio.  Only a restart of power switch it will bring back to life.

Running Linksys WRT150n locked mode 802.11 g, WPA PSK TKIP, DHCP, uPNP disables, MAC filtered.

    Disconnected USB, DSL Frontier, filter.

Talked to the Helpdesk for more than an hour.  Talk to the cat is about as effective as the help I received.  I was told that I should not plug the printer into a commercial surge protector; I should just plug it directly into the wall.  I learned that the power of 9 button # reset sequence.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Don

A side effect, we noticed with latest FW upgrade Apple their Airport Extreme wireless routers is that our printers is no longer a default gateway IP address.  This should only affect printers that make outbound connections to the internet, as some of our printers.

When you set a static IP address in our printers, you need to set the (usually 255.255.255.0) subnet mask and the default gateway IP (usually IP address of your network which is the IP address of the printer with the last byte to 1).

I don't know if it's what you see with your Officejet 6500, but affecting a static IP address does not hurt as long as the printer is still on.
