Ok recovery disks to reinstall?

I use win7 HP, 32-bit. Impossible to update. Get error 80072EFE. Was advised to reinstall. Is not a DVD, but have two recovery disks that I made when I downloaded win7 (had Vista). These recovery disks will work instead of the Win7 DVD on a reinstall?

Yes.

Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows.  Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!

HOW to do a clean install of Win7: see "using the custom installation option" and formatting the hard drive section of http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

NOTE: If your computer came with a set of disks, there is also a hidden partition restore (not to be confused with the restoration of the system) you would use to do the clean install (AKA a "destructive recovery"). Contact the manufacturer's assistance team.

After the new installation, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of EVERYTHING on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external drive to the computer otherwise:

NB: No matter what Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free AND download/run the removal tool appropriate before installing updates or IE upgrades AND BEFORE installing your new anti-virus application.

    Hard drive of my Satellite Pro A300 failed. It has now been replaced. I ordered a recovery disk.
    This will allow me to reinstall Windows Vista OS that is installed initially?

    Also, I get this message "BOOTMGR MISSING". The recovery disc will fix this problem too?
    Thanks in advance!

    > I ordered a recovery disk. This will allow me to reinstall Windows Vista OS that is installed initially?
    Yes. Without a doubt.

    New HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS settings?
    If so avoid any problem.

    Moreover, A300 works perfectly and much better with Win7 32 bit.

    If Vista is preinstalled, you will have problems with recovery of a manufacturer Disk/Partition as drivers for the old Mobo will be loaded.

    And you have also found in problems of licenses if you upgraded your Motheerboard, unless you have a license of Vista retail.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Forget this Option in your case.
    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
    They will tell you how to do this.
    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • Got the error using recovery disk to reinstall Windows 7
    I write this cause maybe it could be useful to someone in the same situation I was.
    After the events of my Z930, I decided to reinstall my laptop to the State of Out-Of-Box. In my first time I got an error, that I didn't understand, so I did on the second attempt:
    1 extract in the Bios and set the COMMAND SATA COMPATIBILITY MODE
    2 erase all SSD, data, partitions, sectors... etc ALL
    The second attempt was successful!
    Usually if the problem is option SATA solution should not be the BIOS option change but load SATA driver before Win7 installation begins. With SATA option enabled (no compatibility mode) HARD drive works correctly and with maximum efficiency.
    Your solution is just solution and a sort of temporary solution.
    Hi all
    Could someone tell me where to download or get a copy of the OEM Win 7 for my L750 Pro Satellite recovery disk? The laptop has a new HARD drive without a job recovery partition and I don't have the recovery CD.
    Help please.
    > If you have not done some recovery disks, toshiba very kindly will give you some... for $66!
    Of my knowledge in Europe you can get it for 30
    However, as you say, there is an option to create recovery disk _For free_ and this must be done on the first day of the purchase. In case something goes wrong with the HARD drive, you can use these recovery disks to reinstall the _For free_ system.
    By the way: the license at the bottom of the device key belongs to the version of Windows OEM preinstalled on your laptop. Its share of the recovery image.
    You can use the only recovery disk to reinstall the whole OS!
    This means that the use of the recovery disk will format the whole HARD drive and will set the laptop back to factory settings!
    If you want to use the recovery disk and then insert it into the ODD and the start-up of this disc.
    Then the installation of the OS should move forward and you should follow the instructions on the screen.
