'Operation Timed Out' when cloning a VM

Hello

I'm trying to clone a virtual machine through virtual Center and I get the following error after only a few seconds.

Impossible to duplicate * NAME * server has expired.

ESXI 4.1.

VSphere Server 4.1.0

I am cloning to the same host

Cloning of virtual computer works fine.

Would really appriecate any help/troubleshooting advice, not even sure what log file for check but below is a part of the file server VCentre {vpxd-974 Journal} log log if it helps.

Thank you

Hi kilicool,

Welcome to the community.

Have you tried to reboot the VC Server? If Yes

In turn, before adding the host ESX VCS try to restart the management

The agent that is running on ESX.

CLI: service mgmt-vmware restart

If this does not work I would say adding VC to the host, but I think that the

above command will help you because it's just VCS

  • vSphere high availability 'Élection' fails at 99% 'operation timed out' to 1 of the 2 hosts

    Hello

We had a system with 1 host ESXi 5.1 with local disks.

Now, we install redundancy by adding a 5.5 U2 ESXi host and a device of vCenter 5.5.

After having installed and any addition to vcenter, we went the ESXi 5.1 to 5.5 U2 ESXi. The SAN works correctly (vMotion works on the own NETWORK card).

Now, if I try to activate the high availability, both servers will install the HA Agent and start "Election".

All the warehouses of data (4) on the SAN are chosen for the HA heartbeat, response of isolation is "keep it turned on" by default.

A server will always be this process done, and the other will keep "elect" until it reaches 100% and errors on the operation "election timed out.

I've seen this problem on both servers, so I think that the 'master' elected does not have the problem, only the "slave".

I have checked these items and executed, but not worked:

VMware KB: Reconfiguration HA (FDM) on a cluster fails with the error: operation timed out

    -The services were running

VMware KB: Configuration HA in VMware vCenter Server 5.x does not work, error: Operation Timed out

-All the MTU has been set at 1500

VMware KB: VMware High Availability Configuration fails with the error: unable to complete the configuration of the ag of HA...

-the default gateway is not the same on the two hosts, but I fixed that. There is no itinerary changes. HA the setting is "leave power." After correction and deactivation/reactivation HA, the problem is always the same.

VMware KB: Check and reinstall the correct version of the VMware vCenter Server agents

-J' ran "Reinstall ESX host management agents and HA on ESXi" agent of HA, and I checked that it was uninstalled and reinstalled during the reactivation of HA.

    CP /opt/vmware/uninstallers/VMware-fdm-uninstall.sh/tmp
    chmod + x /tmp/VMware-fdm-uninstall.sh
    /tmp/vmware-FDM-uninstall.sh

I did this for two guests. This fix makes the problem of the election and I was still able to run a HA test successfully, but when after this test, I turned off the 2nd Server (in order to test the PA in the other direction), HA has no failover to 1 and everything remained low. After pressing 'reconfigure HA', the problem of the election appeared again on 1 hosts.

    Best regards

P.S. I had problems with cold Migration during the implementation of the SAN. After setting up all (vMotion, ESX upgrade), these problems have disappeared.

When you search for this error, I came to this article: KB VMware: VMware vCenter Server displays the error message: unable to connect to the host

And this cause could make sense, since the server vCenter changed and IP addressing has been changed during the implementation.

However, in the file vpxa.cfg, the < hostip > and < serverip > is correct (verified by using https://< hostip > / home).

Tried this again today, no problem at all.

P.P.S. I have set up several of these systems from scratch in the past without problem (if it is an 'upgrade').

OK, so the problem is solved.

I contacted Dell Pro Support (OEM offering the license) and they checked the logs (fdm.log) and found that the default IP gateway could not be reached.

The default gateway is the ip address by default host isolation, used by HA.

Because it is an isolated production system, the front door provided proved only for future purposes.

Now, I've changed the default gateway address of management on the switch plugged into both hosts, namely the ping requests.

    This solved any problem.

  • ESX Server timed out when I try to enter the license server in the CR

    Hi all

I have a problem with the addition of two new ESX servers in our virtual Center.

Let me give you a brief overview:

We have 5 servers ESX and virtual Center Server.

All servers are in a single Cluster (Cluster 01)

Now, we want to use Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and for this reason, we bought another 2 servers (blades).

I installed from scratch with ESX 3.5 Update 4.

I did a second Cluster in our VC (Group 02) and add the two.

I configured the network settings and storage, everything went very well, shoot when I want to point to our license server, whenever I get an error message from our VC. Operation timed out and my settings when not accepted. No matter if I get the IP address or FULL domain name. BUT I can ping our server to ESX Server licenses, so I'm not sure if this is some sort of DNS issue or not.

Another note: our first 5 ESX servers where ESX Server Standard license.

Our new ESX servers where an ESX Server VDI license. I used the CD to install ESX normal, because I have not found any VDI install special files.

I see all licenses in the Administration view in our VC, so I think our license file is not corrupted.

    Things I've done so far:

Renewal of license, start stop server, esx Server license installed twice from scratch

I have no more ideas, I hope someone could help me with this problem.

According to your image, you have 0 agent licenses virtual centre-left to allocate to new hosts.  What might happen, is that the agent is not properly installed on the new servers.  Connect to ESX servers.  Make sure that you can test the virtual Center by domain name server FULL and hostname, not only by intellectual property.  From your RESUME, ping your esx server fqdn and the host name.

Also, check the file/etc/hosts on your esx server and make sure that the entries are tiny.

  • Mainenance mode - operation times out when VMs powered - HA question?

    Hello

I want to update our two guests to esx server 3.5 with Manager running on vCenter 2.5 update. (Mamaged through the Infrastructure Client 2.5)

On the two hosts vm is turned on. When I start sanitation on the single host an error occurs (operation timed out). When I set up the answer for the failure to "Power Off and try again" the powers of the host in the broad all VMs and update work.

My question is: shouldn't the host use HA to turn off the virtual machine, move them to another host and turn it on again? Or vMotion is required for this operation?

I forgot to ask you one thing, you play with setting HA? (Leave the machine market, stop, stop). This could be a different result!

Should move the virtual machine automatically with vMotion & DRS

  • Operation Timed out - vSphere API

    Hello

This follows the validation of my colleague Tony Gent on Snap Mount LUNs will.

I've coded successfully a routine to call queryunresolvedVmfsvolumes in a few test environments and to manipulate the result for the host will, but critical on-site routine returns with a message 'operation timed' out after 100 seconds.  I tried the navigation to the CROWD and call the method and does not return the expected results but takes a little less than 4 minutes.  I don't see the value of operating time is configurable anywhere and the method has no parameters and is not the task.  I looked at the box VC that I sign too and also the host I use the method on.

Does anyone know if the value of timeout is configurable (I think I'm screwed, if it isn't!)

    see you soon

    MikeL

The problem is that cmdlet Get-View creates a new instance of VimService as parameter values of Id are not owned by the customer.

But if you change $view_object. Property of Client.VimService.Timeout and immediately after that call the $view_object method, that works too long, it should work.

    That is to say:

    ...
    $hostview = Get-VMHost myHost | Get-View
    $dsmanager = Get-View $hostview.ConfigManager.DatastoreSystem

    $dsmanager.Client.VimService.Timeout = -1 # Infinite timeout
    $dsmanager.QueryUnresolvedVmfsVolumes()

  • Host does not switch into maintenance - Operation Timed Out mode

    Hey all.

I'm putting one of my hosts in the mode of maintenance and get an 'Operation Timed' error Out. All virtual machines have been moved outside the host so I know that's not a problem "CD in the drive.

I tried to do this in VC and the command line using vimsh - n EI/hostsvc/maintenance_mode_enter

When I run the command line, here is the result:

    # vimsh-e - n/hostsvc/maintenance_mode_enter

Something tells me that the "file not found" is not a good thing. If you can think of to try please let me know.

I changed the first [to one - for purposes of formatting

Unfortunately, this happens from time to time.  The work around is simply restart the host as it is, and then maintenance.

  • Operation timed out. Cancellation...

I've had this problem now for 3 versions of DW, more recently, with CS5.5x

I have changed the settings and increased the Prefs/Site: FTP timeout to 180 seconds. (Verified) 180 seconds via FTP transfer options.

    I use:

    • FTP over SSL/TLS (explicit encryption);
    • port 2121 (on the advice of the host);
    • Authentication (none) - could not get a connection.
    • Passive FTP mode
    • FTP performance optimization is checked.

    I use DW CS5.5 [11.5 construct 5344] on a Mac running 10.6.8.

I am able to download successfully via FTP, using the FTP Transmit (v 4.1.6) program, so there is something in DW himself that causes this problem.

Any ideas out there?  I'm going crazy!  My host is unable to understand the question either, and since all the works in the show, it must be a matter of DW.

    Thank you

    Peter

I am happy to say that my host has been able to solve the problem.

In case it is beneficial for others, here is their explanation for what was wrong:

"Our servers use iptables for their firewalls, this is not automatically pick the port assigned to a passive FTP connection when the connection is encrypted." The port range configured on the FTP server for passive mode data channel has not exactly match the range of ports that was explicitly open in the firewall for that purpose, which gives only a 1 in 3 chance to get a passive FTP connection encrypted work. »

  • Recompose the vmware view 4.6 error "error:-customization operation timed out."

    Hi all

In my organization I have deployed automated floating pool. Yesterday, I refreshed two offices of problem which is locked with the service account, we have in the organization. The workstations are still locked with the service account after refresh. So I recomposed the two workstations, but the re-composition not is not finally made. The personalization state is there for around 40mins. After that the status is "error:-operation of personalization exceeded

Please help me on this. Why recompose is not done. It occurs usually within 10 minutes.

Take a look in the composer-journal on the desktop and vCenter, should give you some clues.

I suspect the AD account or dns/vSwitch port problems.

  • personalization operation timed out VMware View 4.5

I'm quite new to Vmware view and this is my first time setting up, please bare with me.

I get the above error when trying to automatically create a related pool.

I also spent review the previous post that says abot ensuring that:

    • DHCP is enable on the master image
    • VMware view agent is installed
    • VMware tools is installed
    • The firewall is disabled

The new virtual machines are created and when I connect to Vsphere is to see that they connect to the field, receive IP from the DHCP server. But I don't see their name in my DNS.

I hope to have provided enough information and you will appreciate any help.

    To the first just nslookup query, and check whether or not the host of clones name is resolved. Also select al virtual machines to see the Administrator page and perform a reset and see<--  if="" both="" these="" actions="" resolve="" your="" issue="" then="" it="" was="" due="" to="" a="" minor="" network="" outage="" happened="" during="" the="" provisioning="">

    Otherwise,.

    1. If the DNS server is a server active directory integrated one or not? If this is not the case, check the permission to register for this DNS server.

    2. the question of whether the DNS entry received from the DHCP server to clone is directed to the right DNS server? and same DNS / domain name cannot be resolved vcenter server?

    3. have you used Sysprep customization? If Yes, be aware that the domain setting is not levied custom specification but DNS settings will be taken from custom spec. In this case the definition given in the spec custom DNS should resolve the field added in vcenter configuration Admin display page

  • AMT: operation time out when you try to debug via vs2005 Server Explorer

    using v110621 of ODP.net

I have a valid connection to an oracle 9i DB. If I set a breakpoint in a stored procedure then click right sp in Server Explorer and to "start debugging".

    the immeadite window reads: -.

    The PL/SQL debugger starts.
PL/SQL Debugger is listening on the port 49152.
The database cannot connect to the PL/SQL debugger.
    Ends of PL/SQL debugger

I get the following popup error message

    Server Explorer

An error has occurred during execution of the procedure/function:
ORA-30683: failure connecting to the debugger
    ORA-12535: TNS:operation expired
    ORA-06512: at "SYS." DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP', line 68
    ORA-06512: at line 1

So im not sure what I should be specifying where to the debugger attaches?

found this on the cshays blog, but I still don't understand if its something that I need to define locally or on the server?
    http://cshay.blogspot.com/2006/10/debugging-PLSQL-from-ASPNET-and-Visual.html

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    See you soon

In my case the problem was caused by multiple NICs on my development machine.
ORA_DBMS_JDWP has been set at ip_address of wireless adapter which was on the other network segment as the oracle server.
Rotation of the wifi adapter and then restart visual studio solved the problem.

If you are using vmware workstation that ora_dbms_jdwp can also be assigned to the IP address of the virtual map of vmware.

  • I'm getting "connection timed out" when I try to connect to a specific Web site. I can connect to the site using Internet Explorer. Help?

As suggested by Firefox, I've cleared my history and cache. Also, I downloaded and run one of the programs malicious applications recommended Firefox. I also deleted Firefox my firewall and then added it back as suggested by Firefox. I have no problem accessing the site using Internet Explorer.

HTTPS Everywhere makes it easy for you to move site to a secure connection. It's something that you can yourself on the sites where you are displaying sensitive information, so it automates this for you, but I think that it is not essential.

If you love the comfort, the extension has a function to create your own rules, as described on https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere/rulesets. It sounds a little complicated...
