Overheating and decommissioning

I mostly work stuff - Rhino 3D and 3DstudioMAX - my problem is that the Satellite cannot simply make the scenes without materials - after that 2-3 min rendered my laptop automatically shut down... I can't show my models at all: (...)

(1) how to improve the ability of rendering on my laptop?
(I put on a 20cm above the table books to increase airflow coolong but result is about the same :()

(2) yesterday, a full range of pixels becomes dead - can I replace the monitor only?

Concerning

I put t know which model of laptop you have and how old it is, but it is perhaps time for professional cleaning. After this the laptop can catch its breath and it will be cleaned properly. Place the laptop on the books is a good idea.

If the display is faulty, it can be exchanged but I think it is good idea to do it alone. I recommend you contact the partner of service authorized in your country.

Good luck!

  • Satellite C660 - overheating and decommissioning

I have a computer laptop satellite C660 and in recent weeks it has been overheating and switching of. The fan and the heat sink is free of dirt and I bought and installed a new processor, but the problem persists. Actually the only way I can get the machine to run must go into the BIOS and run it in a slower mode which is unacceptable for a normal performance. I think I may have one problem material but another CPU change don't know what to try next.

I can provide details if someone need help and I thank everyone in advance for any advice they are able to provide.

    Hello
do you have a thermal past when you installed the new processor?
No idea on this model but have you check if any other component (for example the video gpu) add thermal paste on him?
You use the laptop on a solid surface to allow the bottom of the laptop breathe properly for better cooling?

  • Satellite Pro A30 overheating and decommissioning

I found some comments dating back to March of people facing the A30 laptop random extinction. I am eperiencing the same thing.

Thinking that it might be a virus I downloaded Norton AntiVirus which caused my laptop to blue screen. I had fixed by a professional and removed NAV. He continued to turn to then find another guy from support for PC...

I worried overheating so he cleaned the fans. I was then able to run spyware without it if overwrite... everything seems fine (NB it is running on battery power at this point). However, this morning due to low battery, I plugged it to the adapter, the adapter, and the laptop has become extraordinarily hot and it stops!

Someone at - he found no concrete solution to this problem yet? My laptop is only 18 months old and it has been for about 3 months. Aaaahhh!

    Hi Vicky,

First of all, overheating of the CPU is the cause of power offs unexpected majoir where no error message or blue screens of death are displayed. There is always a very high rate of activity just before fan cooling break (unless the cooling fans do not have of course).

If your second PC support guy has properly cleaned the CPU heatsink and fans, then we have to assume that the problem relates to low airflow through the fan grids.

You stand your A30 on a hard flat surface? It is very easy to block the gates of fan cooling by standing the laptop on a soft surface (carpet, upholstered furniture, same pants/skirts etc.).

Secondly, given that you had problems with Norton antivirus, you have any other software anti-virus/spyware running. If this isn't the case, it is possible that you picked up some malware that is causing excessive CPU activity which, of course, will produce much more heat from the CPU. Check your active processes in the Task Manager and also run an antispyware application appropriate (like AdAware or SpyBot) to ensure that your system is clean.

Finally, it is quite normal that the adapter get indeed very hot when she is driving the notebook and charge the battery, especially if you are running heavy CPU or graphics applications. Similarly the battery warms up noticably while he is in charge.

  • Satellite A60 - overheating and decommissioning

    Hello

As "[email protected]", I have similar problems with my Satellite A60.

After about 10 minutes of normal use on a hard, flat surface, the laptop starts to become very hot and turns off (obviously overheating). He started only when working with heavy editing workload, but is now it does all the time.

Is this a common fault with the A60? I've had mine for a little more than 12 months and had no probems, and now all of a sudden I can barely use the thing! (of course, it's just out of warranty)

Any suggestions would be very appreciated,

    Thank you very much

    Mike

    Hi Mike,.

That strangely resembles the typical issue of overheating that can infest the laptop users. Laptops use a metal matrix (similar to a car radiator) cooling to dissipate heat from the CPU when using, and if the airway through the matrix of the clogging of dust and debris, then a thermal trigger will be used to turn off the power to the laptop.

Air suction fans act like small vacuum cleaners and pull ambient air dust in the matrix where it gradually accumulates and blocks the air flow.

Try to use a hose of vacuum cleaner against the aspiration air grills to pick the accumulated debris. I do this with my laptop on a monthly basis.

    Kind regards

  • Qosmio G40 - graphics card keeps overheating and crashing all at stake

My nVidia 8600GT card in my laptop Qosmio G40 overheating guard and crashing when I m gaming.

It works all the games that I put on it fine, but overheating then crashes and me kicks off the games I play m.
Is it just because it s a laptop and it s inclined to do?

I tried to increase the fan speed with riva tuner and precision, but no program allows me to access the utility of fan speed.
I presume this is because it s a specific card from the laptop... I also can't find the driver for this card from nVidia updates.

    Help, please... James

    Hello!

Are you using the Toshiba display driver? This is important because the pilot factory don t have protection against overheating and the graphics chip can be damaged.

In addition, this could also be an overheating problem. If you need to clean your laptop with a jet of compressed air that you can buy at a local computer retailer.

Last but not least, I would not try to change the speed of the fan or something else. This will be controlled automatically.

    Good bye

  • CPU is constantly overheating and freezing Satellite Pro A30

    Hi guys,.

It seems that my CPU is constantly overheating and freezing of the PC.
(is - what happens when a CPU is overheating?)
    Fans are turn eratically.
The radiator seems warm enough but still palpable - even if it's just.

As a trial, I would change my CPU clocked at 2.6 Ghz for
a slower, cooler to see if it solves the problem.
Can I just swap, or do I have to change something
to ensure the new processor running at slower speed?
Is there anyway I can say that the current of the processor to run
    at a slower speed?
(I can not even installed on windows
the PC hangs before the end)

    Thank you
    Ray.

As noted by James energy saver controls the speed of the CPU and cooling method.
You can change the settings and check if it will help.
But a question; How much time do you use this laptop or how old is?
Sometimes after long use, that dust and debris could have a bad influence on cooling and fan modules.
For the most part a cleaning cooling module would avoid overheating. But I would not recommend to clean the laptop yourself if you have no experience.
In my opinion a technician should do.

  • Satellite A30 303 overheating and random stop.

Well on this laptop, it came out over a period of 20 months ago, the last year I had an overheating problem, I temporarily delayed by buying two desk fans to him but this summer I sent him far from being 'fixed' then after 1-2 months to be fixed the problem slowly began to re-occuring more often most of the time when I run the games.

Then I talked to some friends and they said on the incompatibility of the RAM somehow another ram of 256 in and it was not compatible with the original so I removed it and purchased a new 512 to go with 256. ALWAYS the laptop turns off, so RAM incompatibility was not the cause. I also bought a cooler laptop yesterday, that actually made it worse my computer now turns off a few seconds of a game being loaded.

I went into a store model, and they said to the ventilation systems for laptop as if they were defective when creating, they will continue to be faulty even when 'fixed '. What can I do about it? I'm looking for the cause.

I also had the computer under warranty for a year, but now the problem that was supposed to be fixed reappeared, but im now out of warranty, can't that ask something since the same problem they're supposed to difficulty is still there?
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi Bill,

Overheating and random power offs are surprisingly common on this model of laptop. The problem arises because the debris and dust is sucked into the grilles of the fan on the bottom of the laptop and is then trapped in the heat sink CPU effectively blocks. A thermal cut-out will work when the CPU temerature becomes too high and turns off the phone to avoid any damage.

Regular clearing of debris in the heat sink is necessary (I do mine a week). Usually a domestic pipe against the bars of fresh air fan will be sufficient, although in severe cases, it may be necessary to remove the radiator (accessible by removing a panel of access at the bottom of the laptop) and manually clear the debris.

  • Satellite Pro A60 - is overheating and shuts

    Hello

I have a problem with my A60. I start and everything goes OK. I put in a temporary monitoring software because it works for awhile and then just stop. What I see happening now, is that it will heat up to 65 then the fan comes on and at 55 it stops. This can happen a few times, and then he forgets turn on the fan. After that he climbs slowly until she happens to 85 when he cuts. I bought a stand 3 fans and now it stays on as long as when it goes on the fan circuit anointed, gets it to 77-80 and stays on. The problem is if I USE then overheating and stop again.

What control actually (and fails to start) the fan cut in the process. This part of the function of the BIOS? Updated BIOS ver 1.7 to ver 1.9 will make a difference? I'm afraid that this update will not end before overhearting and I'll be left with an unusable machine.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    >.. .a finds a way to fix it properly.
This type of hardware components are not fixed but replaced so if you think that the cooling fan is defective exchange it.

One more thing, the vacuum cleaner is OK, but you can't wait to clean up your laptop to look like new. I disassembled my Satellite M70 and was surprised how much dust was inside.
Just after the withdrawal of the ventilation openings, I was able to clean it properly.

  • Satalite Pro A60 overheating and crashing

My satalite Satalite A60 Pro keeps overheating and crashing. It says something about an ati driver.

I downloaded a bios between bios-190trad of this Web site.
I burned the iso to the disk, but I can't get the laptop to boot from the disk in the read me file that comes with the bios it says to press F12 to start the laptop. F12 doesn't do anything for me. How to boot from the CD I am using Windows XP Service pack 2.

    Hello

First of all if you want to boot from the CD, you must change the boot order in the BIOS. To get into the BIOS, you can press ESC and then F1.
Another possibility is the C key immediately after starting the laptop.

If the laptop overheats so I guess the fans don't work properly. In this case, you should try to clean the fans. (use the vacuum cleaner)

  • My Satellite keeps overheating and turning off

My laptop satellite keeps overheating and stopping when doing hard CPU work. The thing is if I open power management and keep the reset of the method of cooling performance max speed up the fan and it cools.

It does not seem to adjust the speed of the fan if left only you I have to keep changing it and in a minute or two, it slows down again and then have to change once again at the speed of the fan to the top.

No idea why this is happening and how to fix it? Grateful for any help. Thank you arran

  • Qosmio F20 keeps overheating and stops after 4 h

My F20 is 5 months old and keeps the unit from overheating and stopping. It does when it worked for about 4 hours. I use a cooling and support to the recommendation of the support line, I've updated the bios.

They also suggested it works without the battery attached unit, but when I removed the unit from the battery and it ran on the sector it would not pass.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

First of all, please check the energy saving settings.
The cooling method must be on "Maximum performance".
Also change the method of control of the CPU on 'Auto '.

In addition, you should check if there is enough room around the laptop.
It is very important because of the airflow.

In addition, you can check the ventilation openings. It is possible that the cooling fans may not work correctly because of the dust and debris inside the ventilation openings.
I read a lot of comments here in the forum and it seems that fans of cleaning might help. You can try to use the vacuum.
But if you do, be careful!

If the laptop overheats after this procedure so I would recommend contacting the Toshiba service partner in your country. Your laptop should be covered by the warranty at the moment.

  • Satellite L300D-10B - overheating and will not recognize adapter

    Hello

I recently encountered problems with my ac adapter when I plug, there is no green light on laptop (its loading sign) and I need to unplug plug several times up until the green light appears. In addition, laptop is overheating and won t work if adapter isn't plugged in, if I unplug the device, it turns off.

    Any help?

BTW, laptop is 4 years old

    > Also, laptop is overheating and won t work if adapter isn't plugged in, if I unplug the device, it turns off.

This happens even if the battery is charged and connected?
This means that the battery is dead. This would also explain the question why battery does not charge.

I think that the battery needs to be checked at the beginning.

    Regarding overheating:
I guess that the laptop has not been cleaned in the past.
This could be the reason why don t cooling fans work as it should. Dust inside the cooling module prevents the fans run at high performance. I think that's the reason why there is a problem with air circulation.
Then try to clean the fans with a jet of compressed air. This allows to remove dust.

  • Satellite L350D-213 repeated overheating and shuts down

    Hello

Recently had problems with my Toshiba laptop Satellite L350D-213 of the he repeated overheating and if off, any suggestions as to prevent overheating would be greatly appreciated

    Hello

There is a lot of advice about the overheating problem.
First the laptop stops automatically to avoid that the pieces of equipment from damage, the higher temperature may affect parts and this is the reason why the laptop stops.

Why the temperature is too high?
Well, maybe the cooling modules does not t run with the best performance because of the dust and debris inside the modules?
It is mainly the reason why fans do not twist and cannot cool the laptop.

I recommend to check this and remove dust and debris from cooling vents using a jet of compressed air.

I do from time to time, and it helps to clean the fans

  • HP Pavilion DV4-5110TX overheating and thermal shutdown problem

    HP Pavilion DV4-5110TX under Windows 7 Ultimate x 64

I had problems with this computer from the beginning, to be honest.  But now the situation is unbearable.

I can't go even 30 minutes making the slightly intensive tasks involving the graphics card
(Like the game in low detail, do a rendering/CS/CAD work) without thermal shutdown due to a problem of overheating as a result of misplaced fan. and the fan on this thing is very very strong, even in low market (another downside of this model, but it's not the point).

SpeedFan shows average at 90 c CPU and GPU Temp about 65 ° c temp. Even when doing absolutely nothing (like now). What does really serve to accumulate all these heat? solve the world huger?

I tried to clean the vents, use the Compressed Air used an expensive Cooler Fan, reinstalled Windows and other drivers HP and demand several times now. and I exhuasted.

    Then. Help? Anyone?

Hello Opscsd.  I understand you are having some problems with the closing of overheating and/or random downs.

How long have you had this laptop?  It is still under warranty?

The fan makes a noise of rattling sound similar to what you would expect if the fan was loose or is it simply "strong"?

You have ensured that you have the latest version of the BIOS?  You said you updated the drivers and applications so I assure you.  I think it's the latest BIOS for your laptop.

I would also make the built in Diagnostics for hardware (RAM and hard drive because they both can cause similar symptoms).  This will help narrow down the cause.  If you don't know how to do these tests take a look at this document.  Be sure to view the results.

I will keep an eye out for your answer.  I wish you a great weekend!
