parameters of the BIOS E5530 Latitude

Dell Hi, my name is Hamza... I ask how can I change the settings of the BIOS on my Dell latitude E5530 laptop because when I check the many BIOS settings is not editable. Thank you

No, there are no manual assignment for video RAM.  If you have games that show errors about insufficient video RAM, the problem is that Intel Integrated GPU is not to play - in other words, they really need a system with dedicated video memory and a nVidia or AMD GPU - not the GPU from Intel you have.

  • Update the Bios on Latitude D630?

I just upgraded my Latitude D630 by installing Windows 7 Home Premium and increase the RAM to 4 GB. The installation went well and everything seems to work well. I notice that the version of the BIOS is currently A04, but the latest version of Dell's A19. I would win anything performance update the BIOS to version A19, or am I better leave well enough alone?

It is best to leave it alone. BIOS updates must be made before the hardware upgrades, but extra memory is not new material. If it all works, you are fine. Some updates to the bios are problems that you don't have, or you don't need improvements. Given that your model is of 2008-9, there rarely need a bios update.

Dell says this about this bios which is 2010 with an update in 2013.

Dell recommends the customer to review details about the update to determine if it applies to your system. The update contains changes that impact only certain configurations, or provides new features that may does not apply to your environment.

  • Can not enter the parameters of the BIOS on my Qosmio F30-112

    Dear lovers of Qosmio,

Since I have updated Bios version 3.60 - winning, I'm not able to access my BIOS. I turn on my laptop while pressing ESC I get SYSTEM CHECK. Press [F1] to enter the bios. I press F1 , nothing happens, I pressed it several times the same thing. It's not like my Qsomio f30 - 112 made problems or anything else I want to be able to access my bios, who knows.

Can you please help. by the way I tried 100 times > _

Dear Hamid is very strange and at the same time stupid situation. I don't really know what the problem is here. Computers laptop Toshiba usually have 2 different BIOS versions. One is defined as Toshiba BIOS and secondly is Phoenix BIOS. Your Qosmio definitely has this version of the Toshiba BIOS and you can enter the BIOS settings using the keys F1 ESC.

If possible try to call the service authorized in your country. If you can not enter the BIOS settings you need of some explanation expertise. If you will get some info useful please share it with us.

  • Inspiron 15 and Ubuntu 14.04: parameters of the BIOS change removes partion "ubuntu".

    Inspiron 15 3551

    BIOS Rev A00

    14.04 Ubuntu preinstalled by Dell.

My laptop is brand new. I went through the initial setup in 15 minutes approximately. This has worked well. I rebooted several times without problem. At this point, the boot options are (if I hit F12 at startup):

Tittle: Startup Mode is set to: UEFI with legacy OPROM: secure boot: off

    THE LEGACY OPTIONS:

    Hard drive

    UEFI OPTIONS:

    PEBOOT

    Ubuntu

    HDD1 - OS UEFI (TOSHIBA )

Please note that I never really used the start menu. I just use the default value.

After a few days, I tried to change how the function keys worked, so I restarted and is gone the BIOS, change this setting, then choose 'save changes and "Reset". Restarted the laptop, but couldn't find the good disk (or partition, or whatever - not sure of the exact terminology). A flashed on the screen error: couldn't open '\EFI\BOOT\fallback.efi': 14

Then the only choice I give myself is to boot from the recovery partition, forcing me to do a reinstall full - 15 minutes more loss of all data.

If I hit F12 at startup while the laptop is in this State, the boot options are as above, except lack the "ubuntu" option, as follows:

    THE LEGACY OPTIONS:

    Hard drive

    UEFI OPTIONS:

    PEBOOT

    HDD1 - OS UEFI (TOSHIBA )

I ran the ePSA assessment system, and it shows no problem.

This problem is reproducible. I've walked through the entire sequence 3 times.

So, what gives? How can I change the BIOS settings without losing my OS partition?

    Thank you

    Joel

Today I received my 3551 Dell with ubuntu.  I am facing a similar situation.  If inherited boot mode, then something happens to the boot process for the uefi firmware.  I'm trying to understand uefi starting the process as well as the Partion of EFI (ESP) system works.   A good place is-

    www.happyassassin.NET/2014/01/25/UEFI-boot-how-does-that-actually-work-then/

Once something bad happens recovery dell comes into play and reinstall everything.

Another problem that I face is that the process to create a recovery on a usb flash drive media fails. I used different usb pen drives but runs aground with each of them.  The recovery flash drive me would be useful if the computer is required to be returned to factory State.   Please inform your experience with it.  I wonder what partition used by the dell recovery program.

Also inform if drivers for Windows are hidden somewhere on the hard drive.

    Thank you.

  • What PCI - E parameters in the bios I put?

I was just in the Bios in Advanced tab and view the graphics settings is set to PCI-E x 1. my video card is dead and now I'm running on the chipsets integrated video card. I set this parameter to 'onboard' or leave it to PCI-E x 1? When I buy a new video card to change too PCI-E x 16?

the PC seems to run very well on PCI-E x 1 on the onboard video in 1920 x 1080.

Leave the setting as it is now... also when you install a new card. Install a new PCI-E card will automatically disable the edge.

  • Cannot get into the BIOS on my Sat A30

    Hi all

I have problems to enter the BIOS. I heard when I want to get into the BIOS I have to press the ESC key when Toshiba logo is shown in the startup.

    But nothing happens!

    Could someone help me?

    Sammy23

    Hi Sammy23
That is right. It's actually the ESC you press. But there is more to know. During the time where appears the Toshiba logo, that represents about 1.5 seconds or so machine "listens" for the ESC at the beginning.
Means that you have to be quick like a cat to press ESC. I usually press ESC several times all the way to the market (until the Toshiba Logo is displayed). Try this. Another way to get into the BIOS uses Toshiba HWSetup (looks like a key any) in the in the Windows Control Panel. You can access almost all the parameters of the BIOS from there.

  • NB200-110 won't start or allow the configuration of the BIOS

    Hello

I am new to the forum and this is my first post.
I help my father with the diagnosis of its mini notebook.
    Model is NB 200-110.

In recent months, the laptop had a hard time to start.
But after several tries, it would normally be finally start and run normally.
Two weeks ago, the laptop won't boot is no longer at all.
When turn on/off, you can hear some noises (HD or fan?) then the 'Toshiba Leading Innovation' screen will be displayed, but it won't pass this point.

On the lower part of the screen, you are prompted to press F2 to enter setup BIOS or F12 to change the start-up devices, but it will respond to any key (as if no current keyboard).
I guess that some of the material is a failure, but y at - it a way of knowing what part exactly?

Thanks in advance for your help.
    Jean-Christophe

    Hello and welcome

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here, and it is not easy to offer the exact diagnosis. Unplug the power plug, remove the battery and press the power button for about 20 seconds.
After having done that connect the power supply only and try to start your machine. Watch carefully what happens.
Try again with F2, F8 or F12 at the beginning upward.
You can also try is to remove the RAM and HARD drive modules and test what happens when you do this.

You know it's strange, if you can enter even the parameters of the BIOS, this first stage where mobile of first hardware.

  • ThinkPad L460, cannot get the BIOS through WMI settings

We used the official instructions and VBscripts Lenovo to set up the BIOS on the laptop ThinkPad T440, T450, L440 and L450 via WMI. It worked well for a while now.

A few weeks back, we received our first batch of portable computers ThinkPad L460 (with 10 of Windows), and I went to check and update the scripts of BIOS. The first thing I tried was to get a list of all the BIOS settings, the use of the ListAll.vbs script (available from the link above) and then through the PowerShell commands listed in the PDF (skl_deploy_01.pdf).

On previous models of ThinkPad the ListAll.vbs script would return a long list of avilable BIOS settings (or "configuration items") as well as their current and possible values. On the L460 that it returns nothing, not even an error message:

    C:\temp\Script>cscript ListAll.vbs
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host versjon 5.812
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. Med Enerett

    C:\temp\Script >

This isn't the same performance you'd get if you run the script not elevated command or on a non-Lenovo computer. In these cases, the output looks like this:

    C:\temp\Script>cscript ListAll.vbs
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host versjon 5.812
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. Med Enerett

    current value =
    possible settings =.

    C:\temp\Script >

I found an old net on the forum describing a similar problem and suggesting it was caused by a third-party software or a customized image of Windows, but the issue is present on both W10 Pro portable computers L460 stocks provided with images, a clean install of W10 Pro version 1511 (ISO downloaded directly from Microsoft) and images of company W10 custom of my organization.

I tried upgrading the BIOS to the most recent available (1.13). That did not help.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be the cause? We received a pretty low amount of laptops L460 so far, so it's kind of feasible to configure all the parameters of the BIOS by hand, but I prefer not having to do once the laptops start to arrive in large numbers. It is both a waste of time and error compared to the configuration script.

    clint341,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft Answers forum.  We cannot guide you more precisely by changing the BIOS settings that the BIOS settings are specific to your motherboard.  However, most (if not all) parameters of the BIOS have an option to restore the default BIOS (sometimes called "default opitimized").  It may be an option in the menu that you highlight, then press enter or it can be assigned to an F key and States at the bottom of the screen, press F? for the default settings.  I hope this helps.  If you are still not able to reset, check with the manufacturer of PC for more information about the BIOS. • 4730 proBook s: what version of the BIOS allows the activation of virtualization technologies?

I use Oracle VirtualBox with 7 VM Linux on my ProBook 4730 of s (OS is Windows 7 64 bit). Somewhere around the BIOS update F.20 my machines virtual Linux no longer works, because of virtualization technology has not been enabled in the BIOS. I tried to enable it in the BIOS settings, but he refused to be activated. So I followed the instructions to return to the correct known copy last BIOS on the recovery partition, and yet I could not enable Virtualization Technology in the older BIOS revision.

Then I went the drivers and software from the HP Web site section for my ProBook and downloaded the revision of BIOS Feb 2011 (apparently the earliest possible review of BIOS for my laptop model) and then flashed my BIOS with this revision. And virtualization technology setting STILL refused to activate it.

I've seen in this thread in HP forums:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and/HP-ProBook-4730s-BIOS-cannot-enable-virt...

anyone else with the model of my laptop had the same problem and the same symptoms: VMs worked up to a point in time and at that time there the Virt. Technology implementation option in the BIOS could not be reactivated.

    So my two questions are:

Any available for this model of laptop BIOS revision allows the activation of the option of setting of virtualization technology?

    and,

In the event of a revision, which one is it and can provide you a link where I can find a downloadable copy of it?

    LTW

OK, after you call the tech support of HP, I found the answer to my version of this problem. When I tried to activate the virtualization technology in the BIOS, I was logging in BIOS using my account in the BIOS. At least for me (and probably for others too, since it is advice from HP support gave me) it was bad. You must log in with the account Guest User of the BIOS BIOS, and when you do, a lot of parameters of the BIOS, including virtualization technology, can be turned on/off. So my problem is solved.
