Pavilion 15-p158sa: Bios is not updated

Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help.

I just bought a computer laptop HP Pavilion 15-p158sa and when you use the HP Wizard it says I have a few updates including bios, so I chose all of them and let run, after awhile it restarted and went through the steps of flashing the bios.
When I get back to the hp Wizard all updates are done but it still says my bios update needs run again and the same thing happens still show that she needs update.

I also downloaded the bios directly at hp and installed, but it is always the same.

My current bios is v34 (14 December) and said he needs is v.34Ap1 (January 15)

Any help would be great, because it bothers me lol

I understand that break you the feet, but the currently installed version is F.34.

It is very good.

A common practice of wise, even if the HP Support Assistant suggests, is updating the BIOS when there is a specific reason.

The HPSA on BIOS tips is something that you can safely ignore. Can see the following image that the update does not any improvements or fix that will enhance your computing experience.

    Hello

This site is NOT for an mSATA SSD. It's a location miniPCIe for a TV tuner. I saw some people modding the BIOS, it could be used as a slot mSATA, but I don't think it would work on your laptop. The only successful modding has been reported on some HP ENVY 15-3000 with generation processors Intel first. However, I can help you with the list of authorization for incompatible wifi. That can be removed and users can use any wireless card they want.

Welcome to the forum HP, Myhyazid

The computer gurus turn on internet in all flavors.  You must decide when and if it's time to update your BIOS.

An update incorrectly applied can cripple your computer.  However, if the update of the BIOS is necessary, and you apply the update correctly the new BIOS can save you a lot of headaches and problems.

There are factors to consider before update you the BIOS:

    • Your computer has issues that have an impact on its functioning: is something that does not not as expected?
    • Do you find an update of the BIOS on the page WEB of YOUR COMPUTER for your operating system that is newer than your computer's BIOS?
    • Description of the update list a question you find relevant to your situation - in other words, this update could benefit YOUR computer?
    • You all have your completed backups?
    1. You have your data backed up and files?
    2. You have an Image backup?
    3. You have made recovery discs / available?
    4. If your computer has a fingerprinter: you have your exported data?
    5. You have your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome) bookmarks / favorites exported?

If you answered Yes to these questions,

Then you can consider to apply an update to the BIOS of your laptop.

  • HP 8710p BIOS could not update - now infinite LOOP - trying to find - please help!

Hey all. I've updated my friends to f.20 bios system - and it now appears that the bios update failed, and then it restarts.

It is an endless loop - which never lets me boot in windows - so I can't go back to a previous version of the BIOS.

I have read around forums and discovered a method to try an emergency recovery by getting the rompaq bios and by holding down the Windows key + B when I turn on the system.

Just buy an external USB floppy drive to try this emergency recovery.

I tried the USB - but it wouldn't work.

I get different results here - but not what I want.

With the USB floppy plugged: when I press Win + B - seeing traffic flashes so far much more time, looks like it initializes the floppy drive (green light comes on for a moment) - but then nothing - just flashing caps lock for a little and then finally a restart again in the fate of loop. It never appears to start to read the diskette or find a bios file.

What I am doing wrong? What can I try? The disc must be leabeled a certain way? Should it be renamed my BIOS file?

    Any help would be GREAT!

I had a very similar experience.  Here is how I fixed it.

Download sp41954.exe hereor search for it.

Double-click the file to launch the application.  If you use Vista or later, close the program, go where he extracted (C:\swsetup\sp41954) and search for the FirmwareUpdater.exe file.  Right-click on the file and select Properties.  Click on the Compatibility tab and select "run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3).  Open FirmwareUpdater.exe and create a startup disk.  If you are using XP, you can create the sp41954 startup disk directly.

Turn the laptop off.  Connect the floppy drive USB with the newly created on the portable computer diskette.  Hold all four arrows while turning on the laptop.  Continue to hold down the four arrows until you see the num-lock or flashing caps lock key (don't remember which).  He should be reading the disk.  After a minute or two, the laptop should restart and operate normally.

When I did, I disconnected the laptop and removed the battery.  I don't know if it was necessary to remove all or not.

    I hope this helps.

  • After the BIOS does not update Equium A100-147

    Can someone help me please?

Updated my BIOS as recommended it using the windows tool! Everything went through fine, saved, verified and flashed the new version. After restarting auto as my laptop does not start before the Toshiba screen, press F12 and nothing, F2 and I just get PLEASE PATIENTER. Guess I didn't try Visa or in fact any OS now.

Why oh why I did it? Everything was fine before, but advises him to do for full compatibility. Do I need a new Board of directors or is there a key, I can press on to able me to boot from CD to reflash or return to old BIOS?

    Help, please!

I always say: do not touch the system running well!

Anyway, in your case, something goes wrong with the BIOS update and you need to go service authorized in your country. They can help you. Sorry but there is nothing that you can do it alone. The BIOS feature is a very sensitive matter and if the BIOS chip is faulty now you can do nothing to make it work again.

    I'm sorry. :(

  • BIOS is not updated (no error)

    Hello

I got a Dell Latitude E6530. The system is completely up to date with the exception of the BIOS. "Scan my system updates" on the Dell site shows that "Dell Latitude E6530 system BIOS A11" is available (current is A09).

The downloaded executable (E6530A11.exe) works fine, restarts the computer, but without flashing start begins. The operating system starts fine with no error message and that's it.

Does anyone know why the flashing won't start?

    Hi thorstenk,

Ideally, when the BIOS update is complete, the computer will automatically restart.

You can check the version of the BIOS in BIOS. Restart the computer and press F2 at the Dell logo. Now look for the version of the BIOS.

If the BIOS version is A09, try updating the BIOS by following the steps mentioned below:

Setup instructions for the universal (Windows / BACKS) format

    • Download the file to the desktop
    • Use one of the methods below to Flash the Bios.
    • Run the utility to update the BIOS from Windows environment
    • Run the utility to update the BIOS of mid BACK (no Windows users)

Download the file to the desktop

The E6530A11.exe file is using the universal (Windows / BACKS) format and is designed to be run directly from the Windows environment.

    • Click Download now. The file download window appears.
    • Click on the "Save" button. The window save under is displayed.
    • Select workstation via the dropdown on the right record in.
    • Click on the "Save" button. A progress meter moves as the download is complete.
    • If necessary, click the X in the upper right of the download progress window to close at the end.

NOTE: Close all applications before running the BIOS update utility. The update utility will restart your system in order to get the new BIOS loaded.

Run the utility to update the BIOS from Windows environment

Double-click the marked icon on your desktop E6530A11.exe.The Dell BIOS Flash window appears
Click on the button continue. The message pressing OK close all applications, shut down Windows, Flash BIOS, then reboot. is displayed.
Click the OK button. The system will reboot and will end the BIOS Flash.
Run the utility to update the BIOS of mid BACK (no Windows users)

NOTE: You will need a bootable USB BACK key. This executable file does not create DOS system files.

    • Copy the E6530A11.exe file to a bootable USB key.
    • Boot from the USB key to the DOS command prompt.
    • Run the file by typing Y:\E6530A11.exe (where is the drive letter where the executable).

    Waiting for your answer!

  • HP ENVY x 2 11-g010nr: HP ENVY x 2 11-g010nr BIOS will not be upgraded

My HP ENVY x 2 11-g010nr laptop has BIOS F.08, dated 12/03/2013. HP support for this model page has a download of SP69946.exe to upgrade the BIOS to F.14A, as of 12/11/2014. HP recommends this update for the battery life improved, which is a problem I see on this laptop.

I have downloaded and run the executable that installs c:\swsetup\sp69946 and then starts flashing the BIOS Windows called InsydeFlash v4.37 utility. A dialog box appears saying "no WMI. Continue? "I continues, and a message appears briefly 'load successful leader' after which the laptop restarts. The BIOS is not updated.

Someone knows how to make it work? WMI is maybe not on this laptop? WMIDiag.exe downloaded Microsoft to see if it is a problem of WMI, but I get a message saying "this app can run on your PC."

First of all, thanks for reading and you reply to my message! The part the more difficult to fix such things receive the appropriate information from the HP. I know that you guys have the knowledge, it's just a matter of getting to you. It's a simple matter to fix once I found the information I needed.

The instructions in step 4 you referred me to was the exact instructions I was following, without success. As I said, the laptop would give a WMI error and restart spontaneously at the end of the so-called update.

I kept read below on your page linked and is come to "Accessing UEFI at system startup" a little less "step 3: open the Diagnostics menu UEFI Hardware." I put the BIOS update files created by sp69946 on a USB, restarted the laptop, press the ESC key to open UEFI and follow-up instructions for updating the BIOS. Simple. I'm not sure if the BIOS file was already there and waiting for me to open UEFI and do the upgrade or if he pulled the file on the USB key, but it worked.

This linked page was good information. Thanks again!

It turns out that, UEFI boot loader needs FAT32 file system to read the startup file EFI, where the CD/DVD is excluded. USB-disk/pen drive is the option.

    Hello

You have problems with the laptop?
If not then why you want to do the BIOS? Just because the new BIOS is released?
I would not change anything if my laptop is running correctly.

However, the update of the BIOS requires the VAP (value added package).
So remember that this PPV is installed correctly. If this isn't the case, so far.

  • Qosmio G30-126 - BIOS is not able, updated on this configuration

    Hello people

I have a problem with my computer where the Toshiba Service has replaced my motherboard. (a lack of display adapter).
I now have the computer but the BIOS is very old, Version 1.90. I downloaded the latest version of the Toshiba site which is 3.90.
When I try to update I get the message "error. BIOS update is failed. BIOS can not be upgraded on this configuration.

I have Windows 7 and all run in administrator mode.
I boot the WinPE CD, but still not able to do any update to the BIOS level.

The old BIOS does not support USB boot and has other issues that make the upgrade, an important factor.

An assumption I made is that the BIOS should be upgraded by small steps, i.e. the version of 1.60 to 1.70 etc until I arrive at 3.90.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

First of all why do you this update? Is it really necessary or do you see a reason for this? If this isn't the case, forget this update. It of really not necessary!

In any case, the BIOS update you can do if you correct all files in archive zip first. Run the update as an administrator, and then close all running programs.

You wrote that you try this update on Windows 7, what is happening on the preinstalled OS from Toshiba?
