Pavilion dm4: boot disk

Ive had my Pavilion dm4 for a few years and I had stopped using it because as my hard drive broke and I needed a new. I recently got a new hard drive and installed but when I turn on the computer, it says I need to insert a boot disk, and then press any key. Where can I get a boot disk and do I need anything else?

You did a defined recovery disk? Generally, you are prompted to make a little time after you set up the laptop. If you have it boot from install Windows and some original software/drivers.

If you do not have a recovery media you can always order from HP. give a call to support to know if it is still available.

If you live in the United States / CA, coordinated HP here.

  • Pavilion dv6 - 7095ca: no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key

Thanks for your help and please excuse my bad English.
Please check item 7, if you're in a hurry. This is the point with my Pavilion DV6 - 7095-CA:

    (1) the operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit), the provided original with my 7095CA Pavilion, more updates HP until 2013, and all Windows updates until July 2015.

    (2) now I can't access the operating system and I have no interface UEFI. I can see that I press F2 at startup, just a test simple disk in BIOS f.0Une (the test shows that the disc is OK)

    (3) return in 2013 it took a drive failure. I did replace the disk and reinstall original Win7, all updates, including the HPS, win7 updates and all my personal software.

    (4) at this time, I bought a spare hard drive and did a complete copy of the disc using Partition Wizard bootable cd. The second disc has been tested and worked perfectly, with all of my personal software on this subject.

So I have 2 HDs identical with the same system on both drives, fully working and tested.

    (5) a few days ago I came across the HP website and made a few updates, including the BIOS f.0Une (the last BIOS update, was of course).

    (6) after BIOS update ran, I received the message "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key".

    (7) I couldn't solve the problem, so I did remove the hard drive and install my backup drive, which lay in a dry place without danger from 2013.

    (8) I turned on the computer and got the same message "No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key", and I couldn't find any way to solve this problem.

Now I'm doing a new installation on a third HD everything works very well, so far, in the new facility and I will never buy HP again.

  • Pavilion dm4-3090se: how to use the SSD after restoration of the system of Windows backup disks?

    Hello

After a lot of work, I finally could restore my OS using Windows backup disks that I created a few years back. (The OS has been corrupted when the power has been accidentally deleted from the system and the battery was dead)

Restoring backup widows put everything on 444 GB C drive.  Nothing I put on the SSD drive d:-20 GB and there is nothing in the tools of HP E: drive - 4 GB

How can I make use of the SSD drive to help speed up the system?  I see the system starts and runs more slowly now.  I'm ready to blow the current operating system and re-run the Windows backup utility.  But I need to know how to use the SSD during the restoration.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hey @llebrez,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! This is a great place to find solutions and help our community!

I understand that you have some information about using the SSD in your HP Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition Entertainment Notebook. I'd be happy to help you with that.

The SSD in your laptop is used for a technology called Intel Smart Response. Intel Smart Response uses the SSD as a type of Cache smart to help load the items faster. The reason why that is not used currently is because the restoration of the system is not designed to use the SSD for intelligent caching and is not able to establish that on its own.

If you want to configure Intelligent caching on your laptop, you can follow this guide provided by overclock.net: how: implement the Intel Smart Response Technology (SSD caching)

I hope this helps. If you have more questions that I'm able to answer for you, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Please hold me.

  • Pavilion dv6t 1200 CTO for Ghost boot disk

    Ahoy, all

I am trying to create a boot disk for purposes of Ghosting. I have the BartPE disk that works with the HP Elitebook 6930p. However, this does not work with Pavilion dv6t 1200 CTO. I think it's because I can't change IDE to AHCI in the BIOS (do not see the option).

And so I think that the problem lies with the drivers of storage but not sure. When I go to Pavilion dv6t 1200 CTO drivers HP website drivers 'Storage' alone I see relate to the USB and a Ricoh card reader.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

figured it out. necessary to get the Intel Matrix drivers out of the Intel site. I also had to get the drivers Realtek NIC Realtek off-site. those in integrated BartPE. works now.

  • HP Pavilion TouchSmart 23-f202: no boot disk was detected or the drive failed

On startup, I get the message "no boot disk was detected or the drive failed.

I bought a new H/D, installed and at startup I get the same message that I got on the old H/D.

As there was no disc provided with the computer when I bought what I'm doing, had to do to get this sucker to the top and work?

    Hi @Jimmy56,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I understand that you had a type "no boot drive has been detected" error at startup to the top, and you have replaced the hard drive and have the same problem. I'm happy to help you with this.

If replace you the original hard disk, you can use the following to test the hard drive. It is possible, there was a connectivity issue and just re-allocation of places the hard drive could make a difference. Computers HP - display of error HDD before starting the computer

The most recent hard disk you put in, if not there was no operating system installed, you'll get the same type of message. You could make the same diagnosis of HDD from the link above, just to make sure that the disc is good.

Please let me know the results, but so just install the original in the system hard disk works, and it starts correctly, so please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

    Hello

The hard drive is placed in a basket (attachment) in the laptop. This means that 7mm hard drives are certainly compatible that they can contain. However, size large drives such as 12 mm could be a problem. Just make sure that the ability is just as older hard drives of 1 TB in laptop computers may not work.

    Hi @orangeg66,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook and P2PP Burnboot could not install. I have seen that date back to 2012 first of all, and then by a default BIOS withthis document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. In this way, it will look at the hardware installed on your laptop. Restore factory default BIOS works on it.

Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you.

    Thank you

    Hello again ericmartinez,

Thanks for the information on your question. 0xe0ef000e error is usually an indication that your master boot record is damaged, but that you have a new hard drive, I think that in this case you use the recovery disks. I recommend that you order a new copy of your recovery media that is always available for your computer. You can order online at the page HP Pavilion dm4-1253 cl Entertainment Notebook PC support - order software support and pilot .

I hope that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Pavilion dm4 2191us: restoring a backup made with HP Recovery Manager - data recovery manager has since been removed

My system (portable Pavilion dm4, Win 7 Home Premium x 64)) is works well but I would like to restore a backup of data made with HP Recovery Manager. HP Recovery Manager has since been removed from the system and I don't have a recovery disk. I tried to install sp45415 that supposedly runs a silent installation for the Recovery Manager program, but it fails silently on my system. The notes say that it applies to Windows 7 computers and the Pavilion dm1 and dm3. There is no mention of the dm4.

Y at - there a trick to getting sp45415 to work properly?

Y at - it somewhere that I can download an installation package for HP Recovery Manager that works on the Pavilion dm4?

Is there another tool that can restore the backup made by HP Recovery Manager?

    Thank you!

If you have uninstalled Recovery Manager he probably removed the recovery of files in the recovery partition. When these files are not deleted download Recovery Manager will install. You will need a recovery media to boot from to restore the files and the recovery partition. If you do not have a recovery media you order from HP.

As for the files you are trying to restore - if it's a backup of personal files, photos, etc. to the outside hard disk or DVD must be a file .exe inside these files, probably of Restore.exe or Recover.exe. Double click on the .exe will extract files to a folder on the hard drive of your laptop.

  • HP Pavilion dm4-3055dx

OK so yesterday I turned on my laptop, a laptop HP Pavilion dm4-3055dx Entertainment, and I received a disturbing message that the hard disk failure is imminent. I tried to run a check on my hard drive by pressing F2 when booting, but every time I tried my computer freezes for a few seconds and then tells me that the check failed. I read a little about this problem and what I found that looks like I have to completely replace my hard drive. Honestly, I don't understand what could have happened because the computer remained stationary for days and the message came from nowhere.

I guess my main questions are: 1) is it possible that a link is simply come loose or I should try before I resort to replacing the hard drive? and (2) it's my only computer so I won't be able to refer to this Commission during and after installation. I know that most of the software and drivers are available on HP's Support site but what about my operating system? Is there a way I can download my version of windows (without having to buy it because I already bought it when I bought my computer) and perhaps transfer on my smart phone and then back to my computer or put it on a disc or something? And I guess 3) what exactly should I expect after installing a new hard drive? I did a complete (as a condition of the factory) reset recently so I'm not really interested with any personal data, but if I can reinstall windows I'll be able to use my wifi and internet access immediately after, or I have to put all my drivers and my browser on a disk to use later? Like that all I have to save and have available after replacing the hard drive?

I apologize for the length/number of questions that I asked but I'm really naïve on this whole thing and just want to make sure I'm ready. Thanks for reading and I look before all help.

    Here is the Manual:

    Manual

Pages 48 to 50 show how to get hard disk and place the new naked drive in the old stand (body). You reuse just all parts except the naked reader, which requires a little work easy to transfer through screwdriver. Your laptop takes 7mm or 9.5 mm thickness 2.5 inch wide hard SATA or SSD drives. Some larger 2.5-inch server drives can be 12mm thick, but almost all 2.5 inch wide SATA hard drive that you see will work fine.

For example, it will be just fine:

Please note Chapter 3, page 24, section 15 modules of memory and point 18 drives for replacements recommended for your system. Please be aware that the maximum memory is 8 GB. • incomplete restore on hp Pavilion dm4

    Hello

I m just try using the recovery system my HP Pavilion dm4 laptop beats edition and it s being a nightmare... the fact that HP Don t includes a CD to reset the computer to factory settings is an incredible headache.

Model: HP Pavilion DM4-3002ea beats edition Notebook PC Entertaintment

    Product number: A8J22EA

    OS: Windows 7

I created a hollow of recovery DVDs, media recovery software, but I have tried 3 times and no luck. After I installed all 4 DVD my computer turns off and when I reboot I get a message saying MSDOS:

    "Please wait...".
    upDrvLtr:C:
    _"

Then, I get a screen that says:

    'Restore Icomplete '.
    The restore did not complete.
"Please select one of the following buttons: Save log/details/Retry.

If I click on "Détails", I get the following error:

    «Sysprep not properly launched...»
"The process results in panic CTO because the image isn't normal."

So I tried to order a new hollow disk best2serve.com but it s recovery is not possible because my laptop is in English and I live in Germany, whenever I place my order on the English site and I try to pay, the web redirect me to the German site where my laptop model is not found. I send a message but no response.

I also tried to install a new copy of windows 7, but it stops because it requires drivers for my computer. I downloaded the drivers from your site, but it seems that .exe files are not recognized.

So... what I should try before you screw up my laptop?

    Thank you.

After reading dozens of post on this subject, I found the solution... as dumb by changing the USB where I have WIN7 on a different USB port. It seems that I was using a port USB3...

    I now have a clean Win7.

In any case, thanks for your help.

If I replace memory corsair with the memory that has been delivered with the laptop the system only works very well.

Corsair memory is not compatible with the system?

I have a dual boot and installed ubuntu on this subject. Ubuntu loads perfectly fine, but after a while the system restarts automatically (IE open application).

I tried memorytest86 to test the memory, but the application continue to crash and reboot and does not provide any results.

    Help, please.

The RAM is not compatible. The system allows a maximum total memory of 8 GB and uses DDR3-1333 which downclocks at 1066 speed. You cannot use a single module of 8 GB. 4 gigs is the large single module supports the system. I suspect the memory that you have will work fine if you had modules of 2 x 4 GB instead of a single module of 8 GB. That's why memtest is not finished. The controller memory motherboard is not able to take up 8 GB of RAM by a single channel.

    Hello:

There are several variations of the dm4-1200, and the number of product you posted says it's a HP Pavilion dm4-3090se Beats Edition Entertainment Notebook PC.

We confirm which model you actually.

If you are sure that you have a dm4-1200, and it has an Intel processor, try this when you install W8...

Download the drivers from this link below (first or second file listed - 32 or 64 bit depending on the case).

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&keyword=Intel+RAPI...

Copy the files to a flash usb without all the folders drive.

With the flash drive and the installation of W8 media plugged into the machine, boot from the installation of W8 media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it only includes the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and I hope, W8 will install.
