Pavilion g6-2278dx: System Recovery dvd kit fails

My hard drive died and I was able to recover most of the images of the files before it failed completely. The patition of recovery was also damaged and I failed to make recovery disks. I installed a new and bigger hard drive and ordered the DVD and the game to restore disks, three DVD system and a DVD supplement. I insert the first DVD and go through the recovery process, browse each disc it copies the data from them. At the end it shows that it is install files or something like that, however, leaves on take off a few seconds, then the powers of the laptop. After reboot, I get a no os found error. Using another spare drive I can see that files, .swm, have been copied but not expanded, nor was it a windows or a recovery partition which worked. I contacted the support by chat and they said the need for fixed hard drive cable and ship it to them for $358 and they'll fix it. Idont buy which, as I am able to install and run the edition eval 8.1 without problem. I am sure that there is a problem with the DVD but can't find anyway to get a replacement set.

Hello

I suggest to try the option described below - at the very least, it will confirm that this isn't a hardware problem, and if successful, will leave you with an activated installation of Windows 8.

Download the file to Image of Windows 8 on the following link - Note that this Image file is subject to a ceiling of download, you may need to try over a period of a few hours before the download starts correctly.

https://docs.Google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?PLI=1

Use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.

If you instead create a flashdrive bootable for this Image, try the free app below.

http://Rufus.AKEO.IE/

The product key for Windows 8 is encrypted in your bios chip and read automatically during installation.

Other software and drivers you need can be found here.

Kind regards

  • New HDD for system recovery DVD

My Pavilion dv4-1225dx Entertainment Notebook has experienced a hard drive crash.  I replaced the hard drive with a new WD Scorpio Blue 2.5-inch 500 GB SATA drive.  I got HP System Recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.

    1. Yes, AFAIK to restore it without problem. You can make a recovery of the HP DVD bootable USB key, simply copy the files will not make the USB bootable, it needs to be. You can buy a usb DVD drive to use the HP DVD recovery

    2. Yes, as long as you have a W7 product key. I recommend the upgrade, these are W7 drivers

  • System Recovery DVD 1 and 2

My system; HP G series windows 7 64 bit. Hard drive crashed, bought a new, but needed the system recovery dvd.

    PC product #: QF761UAR #ABA

The given info with dvd said to start the PC, the slip to disk 1, but will have to reboot the PC will start when the PC won't start, after which touch any key, no sliders.

New hard drive does nothing about it, so when I started it upward, slip DVD, close it with force as he said, I have to and restart again, he has started in 'SAFE MODE' I have nothing, don't touch any keys because I remembered.

Since 1 pm PT 22/10/2012 it has been sitting on 7% first of three boxes checked to date is the day after 23/10/2012

It is still sitting at 7% and saying please wait.

I am lost on what to do? I put it back should I have started in 'safe Mode' should I click Cancel?

I just need this helping hand on what is my next step to do? Or can do?

Thank you, in fact already obtained, type of this laptop.  I called 1-800 to support HP in the booklet of the DVD came with, just had to shut it down.

As I started upward, Press esc several times.

    Then check the memory F2

It checks and auto check then hard drive.

    Force shut it down again.

Started again hit the esc and then going to F9 and then chose the internal drive.

The program starts the whole process of the system DVD recovery disc 1 and disc, then 2 and then asked for all the others, I had DVD drivers and applications taken and it starts later.

restarts on its own and the next hour, he did, it's clean.

Summer use it now since 16:00 and oh YES I'm back!

But thank you for getting back with me.

  • System refuses to boot from HP System Recovery DVD, or any other bootable DVD...

Dv6915nr HP won't start upward from any bootable DVD, including all of the HP Recovery DVD system. It is not a problem boot from CD however. The trippy part, it does not start out of external optical drives with DVD either, only the CD. Please notify.

My idea is to copy all the files from my HP System Recovery DVD on an external hard drive and start over. Or I should rethink that?

    Thank you!

Yes, I just read a thread where you posted a few comments on this machine. Regarding the problems of DVD player, this seems to be common on the same machines that end up needing a new GPU ball so I tend to think that it has something to do with the mother/controller card. Previous DV series with Nvidia problem generally lost WiFi, later models have problems with CD/DVD player.

  • Pavilion laptop g7 Image Recovery file copy fails

    Material: G-7 HP laptop

    Operating system: Windows 8

I bought a laptop Pavilion g7 in December 2012.  The 1 TB HARD disk provided with the laptop started to go bad on me.  After several attempts to "self-repair system" (which didn't) I bought a HD 1 TB Seagate SSHD replacement.  Given that I had no Windows 8 recovery disks, I contacted HP, paid for and sent them to me.

So now I have a new SSHD, new W8 recovery discs and my laptop.  I replaced the HD and the recovery process according to the instructions of the paper that came with the disc.

4 percent (in the "Copying files needed for the recovery of the phase of hard drive"), I get an error message:

    Reducer (the error message title)

    Copy the file fails

    From: D:/PRELOAD/votes.14. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT

    To: C:/RM/Image/votes.14. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT

    Press OK to retry.

Obviously since I post this topic simply by pressing "OK to retry" did not work.  I turned off the laptop computer and restarted the process of recovery.  I had the same error at the same point above.

I've read a few other BBs HP and see what people have done this experiment with various laptops, W7 and W8, posted the same question and had useful people respond by posting links and possible corrections.  I clicked on the links, but see not all what actually helps me 1) explain why I get this error message. and (2) what should I do to fix it.

Appreciate any help anyone can provide, but please break it down Barney style as I am not a computer person.  Seriously, don't joke not on that - I'm weak in terms of technology.

    I can't understand what I'm doing wrong.

    Hello

    The first thing I want you to do is make sure the hard drive is working to do this, follow these steps;

    1 turn on the computer

    2. Select f2 for system diagnostics

    3. Select check disk hard, fast

What is the result of this test?

If this test passes means that it is likley to be the CD, I answered several questions like this one, where in fact the disks are corrupt so my Adviser is if your drive hard test passes contact HP and ask them to send a new set of replacement drives for unfortunately it seems problem common were disks do not work.

  • Laptop HP Emvy 15: System Recovery keeps failing

    Hello

I'm trying to reinstall original OS (WIN 8.1).  I use three DVD recovery discs provided by HP, but unfortunately for some reason any recovery keeps failing.   Besides the machine will start only in the first DVD.  According to the BIOS, the laptop was built in 2014 (which apparently has some influence on the recovery someware).

    Any assistance woule be appreciated

    Tony

    Hi CherylG,

This somewhat embarrassing.  My problem was solved when the operating system has been reinstalled.  Initially I contacted HP customer care with a view to see what my chances were to have replaced the operating system.  You see the recovery partition has been deleted by mistake when I was convinced to give a Linux OS a go.  I could not get used and decided to return to Windows.

Anyway somewhere in the conversation with the customer service "re-install" became "valorisation" and a few days later, a system recovery DVD set arrived on my doorstep.  As you know, I tried various methods to try to resolve the problem without success.   Yet once, I talked to CS and it was decided that I send to the machine to HP (AWA) to Sydney for repairs. One day ortol later that I have received a call from a technician who asked if there were files or data on the hard drive that I need to be saved.  I said nothing on the HARD drive and he said thathe would like to reinstall the OS.  That's what the report says, reinstalled OS and the device.

I guess the moral of this story is to recover whatever it is there must be something to recover.  That's why I kept getting the message "try to restore system failed" or words to that effect.

    See you soon

    Tony
