  • HP-PAVILION: RAM UPGRADE GUARANTEE

    Hello

My office has 4 GB of ram and 2 GB of graphics card. But the RAM is not enough for me. I want to upgrade the RAM. I checked and the motherboard has 2 RAM slots. There is a stick of 4 GB 1600 MHz RAM in it. I want to add a stick of RAM 8 GB 1600 MHZ, while there will be 12 GB total. The system is under WARRANTY.  So should I buy a RAM stick and insert it by myself or go to the Service Centre upgrade?  If I want to upgrade the RAM on my own, I have to break the seal of guarantee on the side. Cut the seal to cancel my system warranty? Please answer...

    Thanks in advance,

    CE1

    Hello

What is the product/model of your computer. Normally, you can increase the RAM on desltop machines and keep the warranty. But I need to tell you: warranry is a very grey area. suppliers (all of them, including HP) may reject the warranty claim if your upgrade can be a problem for your machine.

    Kind regards.

  • Guarantee of the disc is still valid with expired warranty Pavilion?

I have a HP Pavilion g7-1070us laptop with a Toshiba hard drive dead confirmed.  The laptop was purchased in March 2011, at the expiration of the standard warranty in April 2012.

I checked the warranty of the hard drive by the Web from Toshiba site and they say that it is covered until April 2014.  However, they also say that I have to go through the manufacturer for warranty work, since it is part of the OEM.

Is this correct?  If so, how can I get a replacement of the hard disk that is under warranty, when the laptop belonged is not?

    Thank you

    Jim

I guess I was also trying to explain that there is no reason to be angry against HP. They didn't do anything that every other computer manufacturer did not 20 years. It's just the way the world works. Again, sorry.

  • Pavilion AB113NA: Guaranteed NO Information... HP support website is a F * KING JOKE

Hi forum members. While I appreciate you all here help people to the best of your ability, the site support HP, as a whole, Web is the worst site, more confused and frustrated that I have ever visited.

I have a QUESTION seemingly SIMPLE:

New laptop for my wife has stopped working. The problem is most likely the charger, but maybe the MB power supply connection. Until we receive the replacement charger, we do not know.

I need files for emergency out of the hard drive, so I was about to remove it, but my wife said that she does not want to take away from me until she has PROOF that it will not void the warranty.

So I wanted to try to find a copy of the warranty of HP support, but I just keep going in circles. I can't even find a support contact email address.

I managed to get my warranty status, who said a few words to the generic mode that basically, if you work at HP, you don't know what they mean or consult, and there is no links to documents to explain all this.

    So my questions are:

Do not remove the hard drive empty guarantee?

    Are there documents indicating it?

The problem is that the text of the guarantee is written in Middle English and does not clearly answer the question of what happens if you try to service that is designated "Service Centre" in the manual. If she says anything, I'm sure, HP reserves the right, as he sees fit, to void the warranty in this case, but that the result is not always applied.

I also happen to be a lawyer and I can't give legal advice through the Forum, but only smart legal advice in this case are to assume you're was guaranteed when you remove the back cover. I wish I could say otherwise.

  • Pavilion 17: upgrade of guaranteed Ram

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion 17 laptop g133cy and it has 6 GB of Ram and I want to upgrade to 8GBs.  but there are some covers more than 2 screws and I was wondering if removing them it will void the warranty on my laptop?  I did the upgrade anyway if the warranty is void now and then its my fault, but normally I don't need ot use it until a few years down the road.  But that void my warranty?

    Hi @Dudefoxlive,

Please become a member of the HP's Support Forums. I understand that you have a question about making the upgrade of memory. I'll be happy to help you.

The upgrade of memory do not void the warranty.

Please see page 41 for the Maintenance and Service of Guidememory module.

Remove the battery (see battery on page 27)

Remove the optical drive (see optical drive on page 28)

Remove the bottom cover (see low cover to page 32)

The parts can be ordered from HP part Surfer.

Select the country or region on the right.

Then enter the reference number of the 41 page.

Please keep me informed of the progress of things.

  • HP Pavilion n096sa 15: guarantee

Based on my laptop it says 1y1y0y, which I guess means a guarantee of 2 years.

I bought the laptop in January 2014.

But the warranty checker indicates that the warranty began on 19 October 2013 and expired on 16 January 2015.  How does this work?

My hard drive is defective after only 13 months and need it replaced, so I was surprised that I am not under warranty.

    Hello:

It is a forum of consumer to consumer.  No one here is allowed to discuss the terms of warranty HP here.

You will need to contact HP technical support for an explanation of the warranty.

In my view, what the 1y1y0y does 0 years one year, parts and labor for one year on-site service.

Your warranty start date has been adjusted from the date of purchase (Jan 2014), which explains why it ended in January 2015 (a year later).

  • Pavilion 15-p251na: Date of start of guarantee very badly

Only my new laptop I bought last month (August 2015), so was alarmed when I got a message pop up saying that its guarantee is due to expire in April 2016. Just want to know how to fix this so I can prove the date of purchase?

    Thank you

    Hello:

Dial this number of HP and they will send you a Web link or by e-mail to download you or attach a copy of your invoice/receipt showing the date of purchase.

Then they will be adjusted accordingly to the guarantee period.

I had to do the same thing and it took about 3 days for them correct the warranty period.

  • Pavilion s5220f: Want To Go Back To Windows 7 on a "guarantee" HP Desktop

I have upgraded to Windows 10 and now cannot use the cd/dvd player to play or burn because HP has no updates, I need to solve this problem. HP does not offer the system on this old computer recovery (6 years). I tried to download Windows 7 from Microsoft but when I enter the product key # of the original Windows 7 on this computer told me to contact HP for this pre-installed version. How can I get my original Windows 7, it was more than the 28 days that allows to re - install Microsoft.

    Hello:

Yes... If the person of Microsoft didn't try that.

There is no special driver necessary for DVD players.

CD/DVD drivers were included with all versions of windows since Windows 2000 was released.

So there is never any DVD driver on any PC support page.

The W10 driver listed Microsoft on my blue ray of HP drive is on June 21, 2006 for example... well before W10 has even heard.

I did have to do a thing to make it work.

  • Grandsons HP Pavilion just out of guarantee does not just keeps turning.

    Typical just out of warranty.

only failure was that did all the test on the Bios

    OLU2JM - 6MG 788 - MFPWXG - 61U403

and gave a number of product E3B42PA #ABG

The laptop started to take a while to load, and then more than a week got slower until in the end it never fully loaded just the HP and turns round and round points.

has been bought in August 2013 need to know if a value is fixed. all advice appreciated.

It seems that the hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced. They are very cheap and easily replaceable. Laptop SATA hard detail can be used. Just be sure to get a quality at least equal the original in order to use recovery disks. It may be big, but not small ability more. For example if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can use a 750 GB hard drive, but not a 320 GB hard drive.

Maintenance and Service Guide shows how to change the hard drive:

  • Pavilion AMD A8-6500: graphic upgrade

    Hi all

My son has a HP Pavilion AMD A8-6500 with Radeon HD 3.50 ghz graphics card.

It now wants to update as graphic says not good enough.

What our options are, what is implementing implement as buying a better graphics card or is it more complicated?

    see you soon

    Jason

    Hi there @Jason1966,

That the Forums are with you!  I understand that you are looking for advice on upgrading a graphics card.  I'm happy to help you with this.

Please report the number of complete product from your computer. Check out the following, if you need assistance with this information. HP desktop PC - how can I find my model number, serial number or product?  Once I got that I can give you more in the way of what to look for.

In general, you should know what types of expansion slots your computer is available. More recent graphics cards will focus you on PCI Express x 16 slots and their willingness to be a version or the generation of these slots.  If the motherboard has only Gen 1.0, and the graphics card is Gen 3.0, then the card would work, but it will run more slowly he would in a slot of Gen 3.0. So you want to look at the capacity of your computer's power supply. A common value is 300 W. Higher end graphics cards will be a requirement of minimum recommended power of 400 W or more, although there are cards with a lower requirement. It is always better to have a power that exceeds the minimum value. Also related to food some graphics cards require extra power of a specific type connections. You must make sure that your diet has these connections available. Then, make sure that the card has drivers for the operating system installed on your computer, and if the card is UEFI, make sure that your system has UEFI.

If all these parameters are filled between your system and the card, the graphics card should work, but there is never a guarantee, because each computer system is as an individual, once it's in the hands of a user. You may have already installed another device that is in conflict with this card or perhaps a software which does not get her drivers graphics. So long story short, it is not easier to just buy a better card, you need to do some research.

I hope this helps clarify the issues for you and if you find it helpful and useful, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

    Hi guys,.

I am looking to buy a HP Pavilion au074sa 15, its currently on sale in PC world UK, he says, it comes with 8 GB of RAM

    PC WORLD LINK - http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-pavilion-15-au074sa-15-6-laptop-silver-10...

I want to max out the RAM, but online help is that it goes up to 8 GB, on the HP website for the laptop above, it says its equipped with 1x8gb of ram and no mention of the total capitacy of avaibale places,

    HP WEB site - http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-

Doesn't anyone have / updated this model or whether it can have eztra RAM added and if so how.

    series/10862158/model/12079287/document/c05182233 /.

Certainly, it has 2 memory slots and can take up to 16 GB DDR4:

Two locations SODIMM - customer not available/no upgradable DDR4 - 2133 Dual Channel Support (bridge of DDR4-2400 to DDR4-2133) supports up to 16 GB memory max system

Above is a quote from the repair.

    Manual

Start the p. 29 and note the warnings on opening the laptop computer is allowed only for service technicians and, unfortunately, I must tell you will proceed at the risk of the guarantee. Yet, many people choose to do and it's a services of this Forum, run by people not HP, can you bring, including HP itself can not, but don't say you were not warned. It is actually fairly difficult. Removal of the motherboard is not necessary, but demand close attention to tighten management and you will be OK. There is also the issue of finding the compatible memory. DDR4 is fairly new on the market.

See p. 35 and this is the memory module you need to reference HP:

    8 GB 2133 MHz 1.2V shared DDR4 820570-005

    It works:

    https://www.Amazon.com/Ballistix-single-PC4-19200-SODIMM-260-pin/DP/B01DGOF7EA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8 & qid = 1469112251 & SR = 8-6 & Keywords = DDR4-2400 + SO-DIMM

I have a Zbook 15 G3 using DDR4 and I used the Patriot DDR4 in mine (from Frys) and it worked fine. Stable performance and in dual channel mode.
