  • can only connect to internet access using wireless or ethernet cable

I use a computer Windows Vista with Internet Explorer 8.

When I try to connect to the internet from my laptop on a Netgear router I can connect only with limited access via an ethernet cable or wireless. My computer detects and attempts to connect (with complete connection) to the netgear router, but then the prompt appears on the screen, "connection takes longer than usual." Then, it displays "connection failure.

I tried to use all the recommended solutions such as move the computer to a different location, automatically get new ip settings, etc... without success.

In the past, I could access the internet without problems and the full connection and wonder if my college internet connection may have screwed up the settings.

    Thank you

    Hi Travis98,

You can try to boot into safe mode with network and check if the problem occurs.

Step 1: to start in Mode safe mode with network you can follow the below given steps:

    1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the lock button, and then click restart.

    2. do one of the following:

    a. If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    b. If your computer has multiple operating systems, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    3. in the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to select the safe mode with networking option and press ENTER. For more information about the options, see startup options (including safe mode).

4 log your computer with a user account with administrator rights.

  • Problems connecting an Officejet 7310, wireless and ethernet cable

My printer (Officejet 7310) is connected to two PCs with an ethernet cable and the router. Now I want to install a laptop as well.

I know that the lap top is communicating with the wireless router, but I can't get the laptop to recognize that there is a printer is installed.

I tried to connect the printer directly (via Ethernet cable) to the laptop and it works fine. I downloaded the latest version of the software for the 7310 and used two options (without wire and cable).

Any help would be most appreciated.

Cutting the anti-virus made no difference.

    I HEALED NOW THE PROBLEM!

    Installed a new router 2wire.

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Help my internet connect wireless or ethernet cable

I have a big problem with the internet wireless connection or the ethernet connection. In both cases it seems to be good connection (100%) for the network but the computor is unable to connect to the internet.

I tried all the obvious options to solve the problem restart; Unplug the unit; antivirus Internet transformed the ip address is the same as necessary. Is it possible I could have disabled the option to connect to the internet? Before the problem arose, I could connect to the internet in the public and private sectors with no problems.

No change to the settings recently outside the tent to connect to a network different and who need to change the configuration to do this.

    Any ideas appreciated!

As OEM HP is responsible for the good operation of the printer and their
drivers provided. Check with HP support, their documentation online and

  • K450e - Wifi problem - suddenly needs an ethernet cable.

First of all, sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. I am known on the Lenovo Forums. I have a Lenovo K450e computer desk and internet is upward. All of a sudden, the Wireless does not even pop up. Until today, I was able to connect to internet wireless and now it says I have to connect via an ethernet cable. I was wondering if anyone else has made this experience and if anyone has solutions. Thank you!

Turns out I have just needed to update my driver, but needed to connect to the internet via an Ethernet cable to do this.

  • Compaq 6910p - wireless adapter turns off when the ethernet cable is connected

    Hi all

Then, when I plug in an ethernet cable (connected to a router), my wireless adapter turns off.

He immediately turns on when I unplug the ethernet cable.

It isn't really a problem, either connection will provide my needs of networking, but it's just weird and I don't like it.

    Using Win7 Ultimate 64 bit.

    advice would be appreciated.

    Hello:

This is the default setting to save the battery.

If you always want the wireless on, go into BIOS > Menu of device Configuration and activation to deactivate WLAN-LAN.

  • How to enter a wireless signal and convert Ethernet cable?

I'm totally bafled by the nomenclature of wireless gadgets and would appreciate help. I already have a wireless router that allows my laptop work anywhere in my house. My need is to recover the wireless signal and somehow get this signal into an Ethernet cable.

The reason is that my DVR (Replay TV) connects to Internet via Ethernet (not USB) cable and I want to move to a place where it would be impractical to try the new wiring through the walls.

    Thank you!

You need a "wireless ethernet bridge", like the WET54G, WET200 or WET610N.  Once you set up the device, just wire your DVR to it.

  • When I try to connect with my wireless laptop will connect only to Local access. If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    VIsta - Local access only

    HI -.
I recently moved.   I use the same router from my old apartment and I had no problem connection in the past.   Since I moved I have a new Time Warner modem (Cisco) and the modem works fine.

The router also works very well I'm able to connect with my iPhone and IPad without any problem.

But when I try to connect with my wireless laptop, it will only connect to Local access.    If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    It's a Dell Studio 15 with Vista.

The computer is able to connect to wifi to other places without any problem, but for some reason that I can't connect home.   I tried to reset the modem and the router several times, but that did not help.   I tried the option repair & diagnose several times but it doesn't work.

I tried to look for other solutions online and tried to disable IPv6, and while it helped some and I was able to connect wireless, the computer ran so slowly that it didn't seem like a good solution.

This has been very frustrating.   Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.

    Hello Staciusa,

Have you tried to change the wireless channel that your router is running at? There may be interference that could prevent the internet connection:

Take a look at step 6 in this article that give more details about it:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/athome/Setup/wirelesstips.aspx

If you need assistance to change the settings of the specific router, you will need to contact your router manufacturer or your internet service provider.

  • only an ethernet plug in my router but need two cables!

I have a wireless router with only a single ethernet cable plug, but I need to connect a second cable ethernet to a second computer in my house! what I have to buy that this is possible?

    Hello

You can check with the local store of Tech for a network splitter that will allow you to connect multiple cables to the router, but it is not recommended because the speed of the network will decrease because the data will be shared.

You can also try to buy a router with multiple ports.

For more details on routers, you can contact the manufacturer of routers.

  • How can I get my HP 7310 to print completely wireless (w/out Ethernet cable)?

I managed to install my HP 7310 printer to my router wireless using an Ethernet cable.  However, I'd rather have my printer HP 7310 connected to my network completely wireless, i.e. without the need for a long cable to my printer connected to the wireless router.  Is this possible?  If so, what can / should do to set up the printer this way?

    Hello

Your printer doesn't have a wireless card so you must connect the cable to the router / access point. You can also add a wireless for your printer print server (cost over $$) like this:

    http://compnetworking.about.com/od/wireless/SS/wirelessgear_4.htm

    Kind regards.

PS, the above print server is for example only, please do NOT buy it, it is a bit of waste.

  • Win7 no recognition at all, wireless ethernet cable works fine

I recently tried to see if my wired connection would work for my PC, and when I disconnected my wireless and tried to connect via Ethernet, ethernet cable was not recognized as plugged in. I'm not too computer savvy, so I let the drivers installed, but I went to the Device Manager to check if there's a driver update, which it was not.

I tried to restart and do not connect not not wireless before attempting to connect via Ethernet.
My Ethernet device is an Intel PRO/1000 GT Desktop Ethernet card.
Any help in would be nice, because my PC is close to my router, and I would like to use a wired connection instead of wireless, with the proximity of the router.

    Hello

You have reached the support good forum. If I understand correctly, you can not access the Internet using wired connection. I've surely you will help find a solution on the issue.

    1. who is the antivirus installed on the computer program?

    2. it worked before?

I suggest to disable the antivirus program and check.

    Caution:
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 1:

Try to run the network troubleshooter and see if that fixes the problem:

Check out this link to do the same thing:

    Network convenience stores

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-networking-troubleshooters

Method 2: Try to reset the Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and check if the problem persists.

The reset command is available in the context of the NetShell utility IP. Follow these steps to use the reset command to reset TCP/IP manually:

    a. to open a command prompt, click Start, click Run. Copy and paste (or type) that follows the command in the Open box, and then press ENTER: cmd

    b. at the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) that follows the command, and then press ENTER:

    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Note If you do not specify a path of the directory for the log file, use the following command: netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

    c. restart the computer.
