PDF appear differently another user's system

I recently presented a scenario for coverage. The PDF file was generated by Nitro and poster perfectly in Acrobat Reader ms, corresponding exactly to the source Word. (I put the two next to each on the screen, and they match).

If the PDF file must be OK, right?

'Bad '. The company says that all lines of the dialog box deploy fully at the edge of the page (rather than stopping to 2 "). Apparently I'm the only writer who never submitted such a PDF for them. (I'm embarrassed to quote Sherlock Holmes).

What is going on? Please don't say "There is something wrong with Nitro", because Acrobat Reader DC interprets the PDF correctly.

I am running W7P64 on my end. I guess they are running on a Mac at the other end.

I regret that none of us is able to give a clear answer to what the cause of the problem is that society scenario.

We are all volunteers CIHI, trying to help, however without the screenshots of what is to see your client, or any additional information we guess as to what it might be to be honest. A large part of the time that we are able to answer a question very quickly because we recognize the issue and you've seen before, but sometimes, as is the case with this issue, we try to help people through a process of elimination and that often means trying to get more information about the problem as well.

As you mentioned that the PDF looks fine in your version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, me which suggests that maybe something is different in their end.

(a) they could not display the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Reader (which is your point of comparison).

(b) or if they are displayed in Adobe Acrobat Reader, it can be different things.

  • They are using the latest version? or maybe a very old version of Adobe Reader? Can try to update their version to the most recent Adobe Acrobat Reader?
  • Also they have a preference or other setting enabled which differs by the default settings. I immediately thought of reflow, as one of the behavior of this feature is that the text flows as if it were a web page. To clarify, reflow is something that people with visual disabilities may use to view the contents of a PDF file, what it does is to display the text and images in a stream of coils, behind the scenes, it uses internal content control I think that to do this, it doesn't seem necessarily to the layout at all. When you zoom - in the text not only growing, it is redéroule also with the width of the document window and run at the edge of the page, it is limited by the width of the window Adobe Acrobat Reader, NOT the width of the layout. This is very different from zoom in PDF format when reflow is not enabled, in this case, you would see only a large part of the PDF file, like looking through a magnifying glass.

More by looking at the Word DOCX file where you generated the PDF file may reveal that the area of the image containing the text is greater than 2 ".

  • You control the width of the text column by setting up of parameters of left margin and right? This may seem like a question to ask, but if the width of your columns is larger than 2 "?
  • If it is able to download a page from the manuscript/scenario I can actually measure the width of the column in Adobe Acrobat if necessary to verify that is not too wide.

  • Possible for another user account different screen resolution?

I would like to have the resolution of different screen for the account of another user on the same computer system.  I found that when I change the resolution, it applies to all accounts, so the customization doesn't really work in this sense.

I know we can use Magnifier or enlarge the fonts or images on each screen by turning the mouse wheel while holding down the control key.  However, this is not good for someone just not good in computer but not disabled and it is extra work that the user has to do to be able to use the computer.

You cannot change the resolution, but you can change the DPI. Go to the settings on the display page and increase or decrease the font size to the desired size. This is the workaround we use in our domain environment for users who want the largest size of the text.

This is a per user setting.

  • Colorful TIFF appears different color when exporting to PDF

    Hello world

I'm having a problem with the Tiff feature in InDesign CC.

I have a series of print drawings that use the same structure: a TIFF color in the background and a Duotone above this one PSD file.
Most of these models work perfectly. However, for some reason any two of them show a radical change in the color of the background TIFF when I export them to PDF printing. Please note that this is not happening when you create a PDF "Interactive", or another type of file with "Print" PDF.

Here is my file in InDesign:
    Screen Shot 2016-08-30 at 12.45.56 PM.png

And here's what it becomes when you export to PDF:

    Screen Shot 2016-08-30 at 12.46.25 PM.png

Any idea what the problem might be? I checked the source files in Photoshop and I see no difference between these and other pages that export without any problem. But I could be missing something.
I tried to recreate the same design in a new file, but continues to be the same thing.

    Pointers welcome!

    Thank you very much!

  • Another user

I have a Tungsten e2 by my daughter-in-law gave me. All of his stuff was always on her. I have Palm Desktop installed on my XP system since a Handspring Visor with my information about this. I tried several times to sync and his information remained on the handheld, even if I took her out of the Office as a user. Whenever I try to sync, no matter what I do, his name appears as the user during synchronization and ends up on top of the desktop again when finished. I got to the point where I manually deleted all his stuff, that I could find on the handheld, but now, it's still want to synchronize its information, except that I removed it. I can't have my information on your handheld, even if I used desktop replaces the handheld computer under options. I have no idea where its name is stored in the handheld, so I can't change. How can I get MY information transferred to the handheld?  I've been at this for 2 days now and it's driving me crazy! Thank you.

    Hi tearnott,

Thank you for using answers Forum.

Have you tried creating a new user as suggested by Debbie?

I found this on the desktop support site:
    http://Office.Microsoft.com/en-us/Word/HA011406121033.aspx

If you cannot make changes to a document, your Word program cannot be enabled, the document can be locked for editing or protected by password, or you could try to modify a document or text in a protected form.

Note   You cannot edit an open document in Word Viewer, but you can copy text to the Clipboard to paste into other applications.

This command is not available because the document is locked for editing

If you see the following message when you try to modify a document in Word 2003 or Word 2002: "this command is not available because the document is locked for editing" your Word program can not be activated. To check, follow these steps:

    • On the help menu, click Activate Product .

If Word is enabled, a message tells you that the product has already been activated. If Word is not enabled, the Office Activation Wizard appears to guide you through the activation process.

Note   You can open a Word document, even if the program is not activated, but you cannot use many commands and you cannot save the document.

The document is locked for editing by another user

If you see the following message when you try to modify a document in Word 2000 or Word 2002: "the document is locked for editing by another user," Word previously might have shut down improperly while the file is still open.

The document can also be locked from editing if the original version of the document is already open, or if the document is shared over a network and another user opened. This applies to Word 2000, 2002 and 2003.

Note   If the Group similar taskbar buttons is selected, the original version of the document can be open without your realizing it. Click Word in the Windows task bar to see the names of all the Word documents that are open.

Your document is protected by a password

If the owner of the protected the document with a password (including a blank password), you might be limited to read-only access unless you enter the password. If you forget or lose a password, you cannot change the document.

This modification not allowed because the document is locked

If you see this message at the bottom of the application window when you try to modify a document: "This unauthorized change because the document is locked," the document is protected by a restriction of amendment no changes (read only) or comments in Word 2003 (or a restriction of comments in Word 2002 and Word 2000). The author of the document to restrict editing features to protect the Document. Menu commands may also be unavailable, depending on the permissions granted to your by the author of the document.

Note   When you open a document protected by Information Rights Management (IRM) in Word 2003, you might have permission to view the document but not to change it. When you open the document, the Office shared workspace pane opens by default on the right side of the application window. In the task pane, click View My permissions to see your permissions.

  • When the closure of XP, get a message another user is connected

Original title: MESSAGE when the SHUTDOWN of WINDOWS XP.

Regularly during the shut down of my XP system, the following message appears.

WINDOWS - OTHER PEOPLE HAVE LOGGED ON TO THIS COMPUTER. CLOSURE COULD LEAD TO DATA LOSS. YOU STILL WANT TO CLOSE?  ANSWER YES OR NO REQUIRED.        My question is - should I worry? What does that mean?

    Hi CliffRider,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

This happens usually when it is used users switch on a computer with multiple user accounts. You switch to another user, leaving the other user remains connected and then when you logoff you are warned about this.

If this user has files open, changes that have been made but not saved will be lost, if you continue the closure. Return to this user and save open documents before shutting down.

Another way to avoid this message is the user to logoff instead of the switch.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you need help with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help you.

  • Error when you try to publish movies with Windows Movie Maker: another user is running Windows Movie Maker on this computer. Please close the other session of Windows Movie Maker before starting Windows Movie Maker again.

Movie Maker will not film because of "another user is running Movie Maker on this computor... publish »

I'm trying to publish a movie on this computor in Windows Movie Maker. The files are .wmv with a band his .wav and are all stored on my computor. I performed this task with success several times and there is enough free space on the computor.

When I click on publish, there are a few seconds where he tries to publish, but then the program goes into a gel and the dialog box appears with the following: "another user is running Windows Movie Maker on this computor. Please close the other session of Windows Movie Maker before starting Windows Movie Maker again".

When I click Close, there is an icon of wmv on my desk with the title of my project, but it is empty. I am the only user on this computor and I am puzzled as to why this should be implemented. I tried to turn the filters but nothing helped. One thing that I tried was to publish the band sound and the titles and credits without video files and I found it worked.

    Any ideas?

Thank you Volenteer J. How would you like to know if a .wmv file is corrupt? Is there something I can do to click the .wmv files that tell me if they are corrupt? I need to identify the files that are causing my problem.

    ==================================================
Sorry... but it seems that I have more questions than answers.

You said initially that you could publish the soundtrack and titles with success...
I was wondering if you tried to add a .wmv file to see if you could publish?

What was the source of the. WMV files? They are all from the same source?

They were converted from another format? If_Yes_ maybe another
Converter would be worth a try.

You change them widely? (split, rotation, transitions...)

There is a possibility that you could import the Windows Media .wmv files
Encoder and convert them to... .WMV to .wmv. Seems pointless, I know...
but it would create a new .version of the. WMV files and can fix that
    perhaps never the problem.

    Hello

The problem is probably damaged the ADMIN account, you were when you created the user account.

Log on as an ADMINISTRATOR or use the HAA below and REMOVE the user account that you created. Then move forward
as if your ADMIN account (the one you used to make this account user) has been corrupted. Once you are sure
It is OK then DISABLE the HAA - login to your ADMIN account and make a different for USER account
    see if everything is OK.

Try these to erase corruption and missing/damaged file system repair or replacement.
