phone calls purportedly from Microsoft
I get phone calls from an international source claiming to be Microsoft, telling me that my pc is threatened by the virus even if my own safety (BTnetprotectplus) make sure that I'm sure. The appellant, usually sounding Asian wants me to press the windows key and press R, then type something like eventvrw but the I think it's a kind of scan - can someone tell me please?
It's a SCAM for sure, Microsoft will not call you unless you ask them to call you. Ignore it and do not answer.
If this happen again, report to the fight against fraud center in your country.

This is a scam and that is becoming more and more common lately. But even worse, if you let them into your computer, who knows what damage they did here or what confidential information they stole.
So, if you did. I highly recommend that you do both of the following immediately:
1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.
2. change all your passwords, especially all of banks or other financial sites.

Received a call from "Microsoft" on Thanksgiving Day, indicating that someone has hacked my IP address. The appellant wanted me to use the key to victory = r and open the run window and type "inf and my e-mail address. the appellant (sounded like the regular Microsoft staff) could not understand. I hung thinking it was a scam. Any suggestion/information/comments?

Dell technicians had me buy a new disk, Windows 7 OS, which I installed it yesterday. A few minutes before, a phone call came in saying they were calling from Microsoft and I wanted to scan for free because I bought a product at Microsoft. They had me download software teamviewer.com, ccleaner, malware, spyware superantii. They ran scans and said I was infected and I should buy these software packages for $79. I continue to receive phone calls of an 'Indian' Lady telling me that it comes from the Microsoft Technical Department and tried to tell me my computer sends messages of error for them. I assumed that it is a scam to get my data from the computer and were simply hang up. Microsoft never ring?

I'm sick to death of receiving your call center phone calls telling me there is a problem with my computer, when this 'thing' has yet been turned on and still less currently in use .
Also sick of these people not understand English and even less be able to speak. If this problem is not resolved I 'LL go further.
They are criminal con-men who are nothing to do with Microsoft.

A person presenting themselves as being Microsoft called me yesterday evening after 21:00. She said that the messages were received by Microsoft indicating which indicate that my laptop is downloading corrupt files. I rejected, because he doesn't seem like a call legitimate. Microsoft actually calls the users of their products directly. I didn't send messagess to Microsoft when there has been specific problems.
My laptop doesn't seem to always work on something behind the scenes, but I guess it's my anti virus software. Now I fear that this person was legitimate and that Microsoft has actually picked up on a problem with my laptop.
As you can see, I am not technically sophisticated and would be very grateful for your contribution. I am a senior and I have my guard against scammers.
How I would be contacted Microsoft if it wasn't a hoax?

A person supposed to be Microsoft called and said my Firewall Security Center was not working and had an ID # they said was my ID of computers that he read out to me and that I have no idea whether or not this is the ID. They wanted me to be in front of my computer and asked me to do things and wouldn't continue until I started, I started to do what they asked which of course I did NOT!
