Poor video performance on a cold start

I have a question where I get poor fps in games on a cold start, but if I restart the computer, the fps is ok.  I used Passmark 3D Mark test to try to understand what was going on.  The graphics card is a GeForce GTX 770.  On a cold start mark 3D score was 2924 which is much too weak for this card.  I then restarted the computer and retested and got a score of 6710 which is just in the range that should be the 770.  I think that the rules on a graphics card problem.  This could be a Windows problem?  I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.  I hope someone can give me an answer to this.

Thanks for your help, Paul

It is not a Windows problem.

Do you also have lower frame rates when you play a game without having to reboot?

If this isn't the case, don't worry about this. Synthetic benchmarking tools cause many people cancel you worry.

    Hello

I have a video performance of bad quality on my machine as well as the fan power of the issues.

To add to my frustration the WinPhlash program included in the BIOS version 3.8 empty out trying to flash which gives a PHLASHNT. SYS failed to load the message with different error codes (codes 5 and 147 depending if I launch the exe, as it is extracted from the ZIP, or run the files extracted independently).

I checked all permissionings on the record and I definitely full control - but still a generic message of "check your accounts, if you do not have permissions please log in again!" is displayed.

  • Poor video performance

I would like to try to get chrome to Firefox, but there is a question that makes it impossible. When I play a video with Firefox it works very slow, and worse than chrome quality. For example, when I develop the video full screen, happening very slowly, and the only way to exit full-screen mode is to press Esc. But in Chrome, everything works fine. I recorded a video with a demonstration of it. Please, check this (https://goo.gl/eTtOku). My system is Xubuntu 14.04, video Radeon HD 7640 G with fglrx drivers.
I don't use Flash, and hardware acceleration is enabled.

I found a solution that works for me. I installed firefox ESR.

  • Video performance, Windows XP and Windows 7

I tried to watch videos HD with Windows 7, but it was not very good. The image would stop and start then the audio rolled on. I went back to XP and is surprised that the 1280 x 720 mkv file worked fine under XP. It was not perfect, there were a couple of hicups, but which could be caused by other programs that run in the background or the need to defrag the hard drive.

That tells me that the problem of video performance is not so much a physical limitation, as is a video driver issue and the driver XP is more capable than the video driver Windows 7, at least the current version of it.

    Edmund,

Intel has a video update driver Win 7 for the Chipset 945 dated 15/09/2009, which greatly improves video performance. Also, what do you use for a media player? I use VLC and it works well...

    I'll try editing a xp 64 bit (curently runing xp sp3 32-BIT)

    > I'll try editing a xp 64 bit (curently runing xp sp3 32-BIT)
Forget that don t recommend install Win XP 64-bit.
Why? Because the Win XP 64 bit was not so popular as Win 32 bit or Vista/Win 7 64 bit and you won't find many drivers for Win XP 64 bit.
Stay with XP 32 bit or you can change to Win 7 64 bit.

    Regarding the graphical issue;
Have you noticed that also using the old CPU (Intel Celeron M Processor 410)?
If this were not the case, then I guess this could be a problem between the CPU and BIOS.
Otherwise I would recommend upgrading the graphics card driver.

  • Very bad audio and video performance

I have a Pavilion dm1 laptop running Windows 7.  When I got all first the machine audio and video performance was very good.  However, towards the end of last year the performance for audio and video has become extremely slow.  Still, the sound stutters even without video.

I used the tools to clean the registry, updated (or verified) all drivers I can think, but nothing has not improved.

Maybe related, but less to worry about because it is necessary that in rare occasions, boot has become very slow too.

I think I have tracked down a part of the problem by chance.

Normally, I start my DM1 when connected to various devices of office as keyboards etc.  These are all plugged into the USB ports.  As the boot begins there very long delays in the process.  And when the boot ends stuttering audio and video as described.  However, if no USB device is attached during the boot process, start happening quickly and the audio/video all work fine.

After Windows updates Feb 10-11, I "bmmp" noise in my audio which effects my audio/video performance. The video freezes for a split second. I tried system restore several times, but my computer could not be restored to several dates I've tried. If I do not solve the problem today, tomorrow morning I'll try an advanced recovery method. I have a Windows 7-64 bits of the operating system at the same time, graphics cards Intel and Nividea. I had this same problem several times since I got the computer (Dell). Dell has replaced some hardware. Previously, he was my Western Digital external hard drive software that caused the problem. After that I deleted the software from the computer, the problem has been resolved.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could get the system restore to work? Or another suggestion that might help solve the problem?

    Hello

    This can help you:

    1. If you are using Norton, you should disable Norton inviolable Protection before using the system restore.

    http://Service1.Symantec.com/support/sharedtech.nsf/pfdocs/2005113009323013

AVG will cause problems with SR too.

    «Temporarily disable AVG»

    2. try to use Safe Mode system restore.

And some information for you about Windows updates:

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

'Remove an update - Windows 7'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/remove-update#1TC=Windows-7

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

  • 'No Internet access' after reboot, but OK after cold start.

My system has been restarted after a recent update of Windows, and although the Internet connection worked the status icon in the system tray showed the yellow triangle and "No Internet access." The State of the network has been "Identification." (This is a wired connection). When I tried to restart, shutdown took a lot of time and the system blue screened.

When I started the system again, it worked OK. However, at each reboot later, I have the same problem and after each cold start, it's OK. On subsequent reboots, I notice that the Internet connection ends, and then returns to identify, even if the connection actually works.

What is a next step of troubleshooting?

    Hello kwdavids,

I suggest to perform a system restore to before the update was installed to see if it solves the problem:
  • comfort keyboard 1. 0 has (1045) unrecognized on cold start

I updated to Windows Vista 8 level, and most everything seems to be working. A recurrent problem is that my keyboard does not work when I start from a cold start in the morning. The mouse is recognized (is part of the desktop wireless 6000) so I can't stop. After a reboot all works normally, but the keyboard is not yet found (the drive now is for a standard ps/2 keyboard).

These components work very well under Windows 7 (I dual-boot 7 and 8), and although there is a Win7 driver, there is none listed for windows 8. I ran looking for diagnostics and drivers for hardware several times without success. This material is just out of date?

    Hello

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for the keyboard?

Or manually switch to the wireless drivers that should already be there... but maybe not...

In Device Manager, open the properties, and select the driver tab. Select Update driver...

Choose "Browse my computer..." "Choose from a list"... hope he gets here...

You might also look into "Human Interface Devices"... just in case the USB part is here...

Another thing that you can do until it is resolved is disable quick start...

This feature works only when you make a STOP and then start.

It is not perform a RESTART.

    Turn on or off...

Go to the control panel... Power options, and then select choose the power what buttons on the left.

Then select change settings that are currently unavailable near the top center of the screen...

Lower on the window, uncheck the quick start.

  • How to increase video performance

I have a Horizon view 6 environment that is used by 100 users. Clients run with a resolution of 1280 x 1024 and have 2 vCPU and 3 GB of RAM.

It works all fine, except that the vidéoperformance is poor. Watch a video in fullscreen on Youtube does not smooth at all. And also minimize and maximize a window or dragging does not work smoothly.

I tried a few settings like turn on 3d rendering and adjusting the maximum video memory, but nothing seems to make a difference.

Is it possible to improve video performance?

I disabled the 3D setting, but I also discovered that view agent has not been installed to the base image...

After a restructuring with the agent of the view, the reasonable played video!

  • Intel SRCS16 on ESX4 - poor write performance

    Hello world!

I need to change HD on one of my ESX hosts that have only 250 GB of total space, while we buy 5 HD 1 TB.

This weekend, I put another control (Intel SRCS16) Raid and connect a 1 TB just to copy a VM of old HD to the new.

Matrix Raid took less than 1 min.

Creation of partition on the raid drive took less than 1 min. (with fdisk)

Partition formatting took more than 3 hours (with mkfs.ext3)

    Test write performance with: time dd if = / dev/zero of=/mnt/share/test.test bs = 1 M count = 1024

    And took approximately 18 min. (1 Mb/s)

Research on google, I find some useful links.

    On the Vmware communities, I found this: http://communities.VMware.com/thread/105552?start=0 & tstart = 0

    But it does not work.

    Someone has an idea?

    Thanks for your help

SRCS16 Intel has some extremely poor write performance without cache enabled writable. For normal operations with write cache, you should have BBWC (battery backup). Enabling write without BBWC cache may lead to the loss of data in case of power failure.

This sounds like a sensor loose or pinched wire.

You may be able to see the problem of sensor or sensor wire with the diagnosis of Apple to test or a third party temp. followed by the application, but the best would be to book a service appointment at your local CENTRE.

  • Favorites gets duplicated, rearranged, deleted, moved, or all the above after each cold start PC.

Since the 26/08/12 in the bookmarks to a folder and subfolders either disappeared, were reorganized in other folders or "Unsorted Bookmarks", duplicate, 'old' old records of Netscape appeared in more recent cases of Mozilla, the bookmarks and folders were duplicated, but bookmarks in them were either older of the last (see Netscape) or have been removed or foregoing. The last folder of Netscape (version 8) and the Mozilla one have reversed positions, (the latter used as superior to Netscape one). This happens after each cold start PC. After several attempts of troubleshooting, it happens now in all folders. I save the bookmarks in a folder in My Documents separated as regular backups that seem to all be corrupted in the same way. I even purge the SYNCHRONIZED data and who has done nothing to solve this problem. I deleted the old bookmarks for Netscape 6/7 and the problem persists. Removal of duplicates is worse. Maintenance of places add worked only 2 consecutive days; Therefore, it is more effective. I have to restore the backup that I did whenever I use Fire Fox after a cold start.

Have you checked all the backups JSON (10) in the folder bookmarkbackups to see if there are still no corrupted bookmarks?

If all of your bookmark backups are damaged, you must first repair in a pure and uncorrupted places.sqlite file or try to do that via a tag HTML the backup is an appropriate HTML editor.

If corruption always occurs after the computer starts and some security software is the most likely cause for this.

You have not answered what firewall and antivirus that you use.

Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that can cause problems to protect and restore files in the Firefox profile folder.
