Portege 7140CT Shutting Down in Standby Mode - cannot close normally

Hello. I bought a laptop Portege of CT 7140 for my son. It is a very good unit but has a "Shutdown" problem - only it used to closing, that is. It seems to power off, but the 2nd of the LHS on the front of the device flashes slowly. The user's guide explains what happens when the device goes into "Standby" mode I tried all the options of FN + F3 (off, standby and Hibernate) with no difference. I disabled the feature key installation in the Panel. I disabled the "Hibernate" mode in the control panel. All to nothing does not. Someone at - it an idea why this is happening and how can I solve? Thanks a lot for your help. Mike

Hello

I never heard of this problem, but maybe to reinstall the system can solve it.
Or perhaps reinstall or update the BIOS will help you.
I'm sorry that I don't have a better idea.

Good bye

  • While Tecra A2 shut downs message appears - TMEEJM_Wnd cannot be closed

Have a Tecra A2 purchased in March 2005. I reinstalled the system successfully. When I try to shut down the system of windows open one after another with the message: "TMEEJM_Wnd cannot be closed." I have the ability to immediately close or cancel.

What I do, the message disappears. Then the other window opens with the message: "cannot close WMS Idle". The same orders came. The system shuts down after clicking on 'Close' or 'Cancel '. With the "Systemrecovery" I put the system back. The problem is still there.

    Does anyone have any idea?

    Hello

I discovered that this service of TMEEJM_Wnd belongs to the Toshiba Mobile Extensions utility.
A similar problem appears sometimes on my laptop. It s not a portable Extensions Utility but Adobe acrobat reader cannot be closed and the laptop can not stop down.

I reinstalled adobe und cleaned the registry with CCleaner and since that time, pop does not appear
I think that if you don't need t Extensions Mobile utility you must either remove the BONE or you can try to reinstall again.

Couple of things: 1) I ran anti-virus programs and found nothing.  It is probably because I have Webroot essentials running on my computer that pretty much catches most of the problems. ((2) I found the clogged fan grille almost closed with dust... I have now cleaned and 3) when I try to save power settings, I get an error message that says "Power Policy Manager unable to set policy - indicates two revision levels are incompatible."  I don't know if it's because I recently downloaded and installed the SP3 from Microsoft (so that I could download and install (upgrade to) Office 2010) which may be incompatible with Webroot?  I say it's when I right click the icon of the Service Pack 3 and click Scan, my webroot scan lights.  In any case, I've attached the information requested below.

I hope that it is something as simple to clean my gird so the machine overheating... causing the closure.  My computer shuts down actually to the beautiful middle of my only uninstalling the software anti-malware you have suggested.

  • Portege Z10t-a remains in Standby Mode

    Good afternoon

We had this a few times on different units of the fault. The Ultrabook seems to be in mode 'sleep' (flashing white power) and no amount of button walk / stop pushing, keyboard by clicking or mouse move it brings out of the State.

Pressing power for 5 seconds the UltraBook will not shut.

I have to wait until the next day when the battery drains completely before starting the unit.

Is there another way to turn the power off, maybe?

Right, you will find the Force closed down (marked with the number 8)

Use an object like a paper clip and insert it into the hole.
There is a little switch that will help you to turn off the unit.

  • I started my computer and connected but have lost s icon on my desktop. I cannot close normally except by using the reset button.

I login in safe mode and icons appear.

I also checked device Manager with the warning icon in the network adapters.

    Teredo tunneling adapter 10 error.

I get internet connection in safe mode but not in normal mode.

    I have windows 7.

Little likely that would contribute in safe MODE - probably loads without network at all.  ;-)

You can connect in safe mode, so... Create a NEW USER in safe MODE...

    1. Go to the--> user accounts Control Panel (user accounts and Family Safety--> add or remove user accounts--> create a new account--> account management of--> create a new account.)
    2. Give the user new administrator rights.
    3. Restart the PC and login as the new user.

The new user works in normal mode?

You can now, navigate to the location mentioned before see if (under your user name usual folder\desktop) icons you think Miss exist?

Try raising 'msconfig' (start-> Run-> "msconfig").
Once msconfig is running, click on the tab "Boot.ini" and check that the "/ SAFEBOOT" box is not checked.

  • Satellite Pro P500 - standby and Shut Down crashing

I have a Satellite P500. Bought new with Windows 7. It is new and has had a bad hard drive replaced.

Since then, I've reconfigured everything and everything seems to be working - except when the sleep and the closure are activated, they do not work. Stop going just to close to the bottom of the screen and stays there for centuries until I force a stop down by holding down the power button. She won't be in standby mode and Hibernate properly either - drafts of the screen and hard drive starts to do something, but system remains active and fan works.

I found another forum thread where something similar happening in the model of the A300, and someone suggested to turn off the wake-up on LAN and keyboard settings. Both of these Jefferson already out on it so go there.

    Help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello

IF your laptop hangs on farm screen and doesn't go into hibernation/standby layout, I think that it s not bound as a result of the functions in the BIOS. This is more important if your computer starts up without any reason.

Anyway, in your case I would of BIOS update.

If this doesn t work you should try to reinstall Windows. This could also be a software problem.

  • Satellite A300-1EC cannot load the OS and restart just /shuts down

Can you help me with my problem of A300 PSAG0Elaptop.

    This is the case:
before that I can still use my laptop normally without plugging the power cord but when plug the source ca the unit restarts all of a sudden. I charge the battery only when the unit is off. And now the worst case gets when I installed the recovery disk hoping would solve the problem. I can no longer load the operating system; It's just loading then it does not load and suddenly shuts down and sometimes simply frozen. I have not tried the safe mode, mode ahci, system recovery, system repair, and stil no chance.
I brought this already at the center of ASP service and they demanded almost 1 unit brand new laptop for repair of my laptop is not advisable to send them to repair.
I doubt that my system bios is not compatible with my vista Home premium OS, or perhaps my wife update of the bios that is not compatible in windows update. My current bios I checked is 1.4

Given that I have no option instead of junking my laptop, I want to update or back to the original settings of the bios that can help to repair my device.
Can you help me on how to update or revert to the original my system bios? As I can't access the windows can you teach me step by step using the usb port of my camera on system bios update? Or do you have any suggestions?

    Hey Buddy,

First of all, the BIOS can only be updated Windows System. There is no other version that you can download on the site Web of Toshiba.

But I doubt that this problem is caused by the BIOS. It s I knew not that it is possible to change certain values which make impossible Windows installation. With other words BIOS is secure and with all the settings, it should be possible to install Windows.
An alternative you can press F9 in BIOS to load the default settings. That would be the best option.

But according to your assignment, if Windows installation of recovery disc doesn t work and you are not able to charge the battery while the laptop is turned on it seems to be a hardware malfunction because seriously it has nothing to do with the software.

So either come you into contact with the ASP to get the repaired device or you can repair yourself with original spare parts with parts ASP or second-hand on eBay or similar platforms.
Of course, you can buy a new laptop: in case the motherboard would be defective because the motherboard is very expensive spare part, it would be the best choice in my opinion.
