Portege R100 SODIMM 1 GB upgrade: seller?

Hello

I have the info, which, for my modules of R100 DDR266 PC2100 SODIMM 200 pin should work. I read in the forum, too.
But how is that there is RAM on the market "specially designed" for the R100?

Transcend has memory available for the R100. It has a different partno. then the RAMS regular and is more expensive. What is the difference here? It's really the other Modules? Or is just memory that has been tested for compliance and therefore more expensive?

Please help me. Kind regards

Christian

Hello

I agree with kjo but if you want to use try to RAM module recommended and tested with PC2100 1 GB (PA3278U-1M1G). Check the price first.

    Hello

I have a Portege R100 and want to upgrade the internal wlan card in an adapter 802.11 g.
I ve has already searched the Internet, but has not found a fitting. Can you tell me if it s possible, and that I can use. Y at - it than not with integrated bluetooth too?
    Thank you, Florian Niedermayer

    Hello

Your Portege is old enough laptop and designed model 4 years ago. I found some info it comes with mini-PCI adapter Intel PRO / Wireless 2100 LAN 3B. The same WLAN card is in my laptop Tecra and I am quite pleased. The download speed is not the fastest, but it works well enough and I can use Skype to talk with friends without any connectivity problem.

In any case, to find compatible parts for older models of laptops is not so easy. If nobody here can offer accurate information, try contacting your local dealer or authorized Toshiba service. They are responsible for the hardware support and they should be able to give the right info. You may be able to use Intel WLAN 802.11 g (bis zu 54Mbps) with good old classic. I don't see another solution. If possible, try to get this card and test it. If this does not work you can send it back.

Please let us know if the upgrade will be successful.

  • Portege R100: RAM upgrade

    I have a Toshiba Portege R100 (1 GHz, 512 MB RAM)

RAM modules of 256 MB is still, the other is removable (so I was told).

I think the move to Vista and so to upgrade my RAM.

Will be all DDR SODIMM PC2100 266 Mhz module works, or are there specific brands / specifications should I use?

Normally paired RAM is used for optimal performance, but I saw with unmatched sold Dells of RAM (1 GB and 2 GB for example). What are the disadvantages (if any) to use a module of 1 GB or 512 GB with the fixed 256 MB module?

PC2100 is now more expensive than backward compatible PC2700. A module of 1 GB of RAM of PC2700 compatible (PC2100) to the rear will work with the 256 MB PC2100 fixed?

    Richard

    You can install a universal DDR1 Sodimm PC2100 * or * module PC2700

He will work with the memory of base without problem, but of course, the PC2700 will be 'downgraded' to PC2100.

  • A few questions about the Portege R100 upgrade

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Portege R100 of America with 768 MB of RAM, 40 GB HDD, DVD-ROM on the PCMCIA card. I want to renew the Windows XP Pro Notebook by updating the material.

-How can I update a larger HARD drive?
    -What RAM should I update?
    -Can I upgrade the processor?

    Thank you for your help.

    holger112

    Hello

    You cannot switch the processor!

You can upgrade the HD, but because it is an interface 1.8 "HD with an ide (50 pin ATA) the best you can find is a 60 GB HD (Toshiba MK6006GAH 60 GB) you can find them on ebay for a reasonable price

You can easily switch from memory with a module 1 GB pc2700-dimm ddr1 (like kingston or corsair) in replacement of the module of 512 MB to a maximum of 1.2 GB.

    You can buy them everywhere

    Also note:

install XP on a R100 is not very easy, but you can find lots of information on this forum, as here:

  • Portege R100 and HDD upgrade

    Hello

I have a Portege R100 and I want to upgrade the 40 GB HARD disk. What is the highest size that I could upgrade using Toshiba or not Toshiba HDD?
There are 1.8 "SSD? What would be the best way to update?

    Thank you
    Romeo

I have an old Portege 2000 and it's almost the same specifications your one, but my has been delivered with 20 GB of HARD drive. I've updated it with 60 GB and it works perfectly.
I can understand your wishes on the HARD drive upgrade, but I recommend you to be a little more realistic and spend it is logical and understandable for this older model laptop.

So I can confirm that 60 GB HARD drive will be working well. Maybe you can use the HARD disk with more capacity, but Toshiba is now your Portege with 40 GB max. What you can do is to contact the nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask them if they have more experiences with the hardware upgrade on this laptop.

To be honest, this laptop is not designed for multimedia stuff and in fact 60 GB HARD drive is quite enough for the installation of applications and for the registration of all the important things like maybe a few videos, photos and office documents.

  • How to get Bluetooth on Portege R100

There seems to be several ways to get there, I don't know if my Portege can handle all the. Or maybe there are others. Let me know!

1 USB key: these are ugly and large, although there will be a tiny by Mogo in June (http://www.newtonperipherals.com/Mogo_Products.htm) but I'm sure they all work on my Portege R100.

    2. a Compactflash adapter with CF-Bluetooth-slot pc card card. Also, those who do not disappear completely in the case. And they will work? What is a new technology that is not compatible?

    3. This seems to be a nice alternative: using the SD card. But as I read in this forum the R100 (larger) problems with newer SD-cards. What is it? The seller says it s compatible with most of Toshiba laptops, but I'm not sure about this.

Or y at - it even more possibilities? Thanks for the tips!

Only SDBT2 and SDBT3 cards work in laptops with the support of the SDIO. It seems that SDBT map you mentioned has only drivers for PDAS, but not for the laptop. Take a look at the following Web site for more details:

  • Portege R100 - impossible to reinstall my Bluetooth

I had to reinstall my computer (Toshiba Portege R100) since the factory installation discs and now I can't reinstall my BT
I use the SD Card3 with PA3370 part number.

My problem seems to be the inabililty to install the SD host upgrade.
I downloaded the file sdhost-204030514-wxp-w2k. I have used this file before on this machine, but Windows does not run the installation program.
When I unzip the archive, I can right click to install on the tsdhd.sys but further, nothing happens.

All my other relocations worked perfectly and the only thing I can think is that XP SP3 does not like this installation package (my last restoration was under SP2).

    Any suggestions for a workaround?

So, if I understand you correctly, you are not able to install the devices, bluetooth, and Player cards, right?

For the card reader. I think you should just download following of this site: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com (Support & downloads)

    -Cardbus driver
    -SD Host controller
    -SD memory card
    -Format SD memory

    Download battery bluetooth for bluetooth.

Make sure that all downloads are unpacked, before installation and choose the appropriate model for laptop computer and operating system.

  • PORTEGE R100 CD-ROM recovery problem

Hi, I had a few problems of recovery PORTEGE R100. My problem is that when I try to reinstall the system with the recovery of the boot disk CD, it does not recognize the CD. The CD-ROM is not a TOSHIBA product. Is there any solution for this?

    Hello

It will be interesting to know if your external CD is a USB or PCMCIA device.

You must make a Windows startup disk and add drivers for your CD-ROM BACK drive and then you should be able to recover the machine with this CD.

  • Problem of Eve Portege R100

    Dear friends,
I have a problem with my newly purchased Portege R100. When I try to switch (or in hibernation mode, in fact), it starts the process and then stops and displays an error message saying that it is in conflict with the keyboard player and I might need to update this.
Of course when I try to update, it shows not any update for the keyboard drivers.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem and how you solved it.

    Thank you
    Riccardo

    Hi Riccardo

As far as I know, this problem may occur if you use the external keyboard because for now what laptop enters standby or hibernation to stop all active processes. Now there may be some conflicts because many programs or processes can make the problems by putting off circuit.

    The external keyboard?

  • Portege R100: Recover the CD USB 2.0 drive?

I need to reset my Portege R100 to factory settings, erasing the hard drive and remove all documents and programs. I don't have a Toshiba CD-ROM drive, only a CD/DVD of LaCie USB 2.0 drive. It worked with other laptops, but I can't get the R100 to start with it.

    Does anyone have a suggestion?

    Hi soren,.

Maybe you know that you can start from the CD-ROM when you push the 'C' button for aprox. 3 seconds when you press the power button. But it's only for internal solutions.
In your question, you could test whether it works when you push "U". 'U' stands for USB device!

  • Display Driver Portege R100

Some time when I use certain software applications, the images on my Portege R100 distorted. Why does this happen?

Apparently, there is a bug in the display driver in Portege R100. You can update the PC with an improved display driver, V6.4823.104.22_2 to avoid this.
