Hello

Try to remove the USB entries in Device Manager, and then restart the device. The ports should be recognized and installed correctly. In my view, it cannot happen without any reason. It will be interesting to know since when this problem started.

  • Portege R100 - Random Blue Screen of Death (IRQL not less or equivalent)

    Hello

I've been making 'Blue Screen of Death' screens random in the last few weeks. The error is "IRQL not less or equal ' and it performs a memory dump each time. If I get the error and try to restart the phone after, I usually get the same screen of "Blue Screen of Death" when starting.

I have not installed new hardware lately. Last update about a year; upgrade memory. I tried to replace the RAM with a spare that I had and I was still getting the same error.
I have not installed new software in the last weeks, which would coincide with this error.

I am tracking the temperature of the processor and I'm higher than 48 degrees Celsius.
I'm not an expert, but I guess it's purely a hardware problem? As I rarely hear the CPU fan, I thought it might be overheating of the CPU.

But even after that make the CPU fan to operate at 100% using a free software called "Fan speed" I always got the same random screen of 'Blue Screen of Death'.

I would really appreciate any feedback and assistance. Really, I love my R100 and want to fix it.

    Select this option.

    Hey,.

    > If it's the memory controller can it be replaced?
No, you can only replace the motherboard together. The memory controller is a part of it and it of not possible to replace the memory controller only.

Theoretically, it could be the motherboard (memory controller) to malfunction if Memtest86 errors even you have replaced the RAM already.

But 100% sure answer you can get a service provider approved because they have professional diagnostic tools.
Then get in touch with the guy and ask for help. They can also order a new card of mother if she needs to be replaced.

  • Portege R100: Recover the CD USB 2.0 drive?

I need to reset my Portege R100 to factory settings, erasing the hard drive and remove all documents and programs. I don't have a Toshiba CD-ROM drive, only a CD/DVD of LaCie USB 2.0 drive. It worked with other laptops, but I can't get the R100 to start with it.

    Does anyone have a suggestion?

    Hi soren,.

Maybe you know that you can start from the CD-ROM when you push the 'C' button for aprox. 3 seconds when you press the power button. But it's only for internal solutions.
In your question, you could test whether it works when you push "U". 'U' stands for USB device!

  • Portege R100: fan and screen

My portege r100 fan no longer works and I wonder to the service change only the fan or the mainboard... and my screen has 24 dead pixels color do that I have to do
    Kind regards

    Hi Murat,

From my experience, repairers will be the fastest option for them and not the cheapest for you. If your fan can be replaced easily without changing the motherboard, then it is what they will do.

In regards to your dead pixels, the only real solution is to replace the screen.

I think that it is a job more suited to a Service Agent

    > Thanks, but how do I boot from a cd rom usb drive? I don't have any usb floppy drive
You need to first boot the bootable disc using a bootable diskette floppy drive!
Then a driver would be loaded that allows you to boot from the CD/DVD drive

    Akuma explained already!

  • Portege R100 and external 17 '' LCD - cannot set the resolution of the screen to the right

A 17 "LCD is connected to my Portege R100 via the port replicator. The native resolution is 1280 x 1024. But the actual resolution is only 1024 x 768. The LCD screen can adjust images automatically. Actual resolution can be verified by LCD menu. This distorted text on external LCD.

    I put the exteranl LCD resolution at 1280 x 1024 on panel--> display--> setting...
The version of the video driver is v6.4823 - 104.22_2. BIOS, common module, Toshiba screen device Cahange the Toshiba Hotkey utility for display were all updated to the latest version.

I used Fn + F5 combination to switch between display modes: Simoutaneous, external monitor only. This has not fixed the problem.

    Someone has an idea?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hello

The preferred resolution is not available on the external screen because the display driver that is installed on the laptop does not support!
The external monitor is able to manage the 1280 x 1024, but if this resolution is not listed in the display driver, then you will not be able to choose!

  • Portege R100 - question about the installation of the USB port and Windows problems

    Hello

I just bought a used Portege R100, but I have some problems. Of course the laptop isn't a CD or DVD, player so I tried an external DVD drive, but it did not work. What kind of device I have to install Windows (not an edition of recovery or anything like that, but a whole new windows on the formatted HARD drive)?

I also have another problem: whenever I plug a USB device (I tried the DVD drive external and a USB keyboard) when I start the laptop, it seems to hang. At least, I am not able to type anything more; the keyboard of the laptop is dead (the point where the entrance would still be flashing in the BACK platform, but typing. sth on the keyboard isn't doing anything). It is not normal, is it?

I also tried to get to the BIOS, but I tried various commands (F1 to F12, DEL etc.), but I couldn't access the BIOS. It would be great if someone could tell me the command for it.

Thanks in advance for the help and sorry for the bad English, I'm not a native speaker :)

Here you can see that XP installation isn't very easy, but can be done successfully

as long as you are working in an environment with appropriate back-drivers back, you can use any kind of external (USB or pcmcia) CD player you want

the bios is accessible by pressing ESC and the Start button

I think that this can be corrected with the latest display driver. Please visit the Toshiba download page and install it.

    Hello

Is it only happens using USB drive?
Have you tried other disks USB, key USB flash or other USB devices?

    > I tried to check my RAM with memtest, but it restarts my pc once he starts the first tests.
    Hmm... It's strange...
The problem of memory could be responsible for BSOD, but if this BSOD appears only using USB drive then I would recommend testing other external USB HDD.

You should also try to update the driver from chipset since the chipset USB ports driver controls

  • Blue screen occurs when I connect hybrid USB TV tuner

Hi, I brought a USB PX1256E hybrid TV tuner and I can't run. I have Windows Media Center and when I install the software and connect the equipment on the USB port displayed a blue screen (windows crash) and restart my computer.

    Please, can someone help me?

Thank you and sorry for the bad English. ;)

I'm not 100% sure but I think that there may be conflicts between the installed software and Windows Media Center. I have Toshiba USB DVB - T TV tuner and it works fine on my laptop preinstalled WXP professional.

I tested it with Vista too and it works perfectly. If possible, test it on some PC pre-installed Windows XP edition home friends family or professional.
