• Portege R500: external monitor does not work with the Port Replicator Port 2 and DVI

  I have a Portege R500 running Vista with a slim Port Replicator II and digital monitor Viewsonic.
  I connected the monitor to the DVI port on the port replicator and got it to work OK.
  Press fn + F5 would switch between the computer screen and the external monitor.

  Then it stopped working, and I can't make it work at all. F5 recognizes just the laptop screen.

  If I connect an analog display, it is fine, and I can pass between the two screens without difficulty.

  The strangest thing is that, if I reboot when the Portege R500 is docked, the digital monitor begins by displaying the boot sequence, but then the signal is lost as soon as the screen stops the display of the progress (in low resolution) bar.

  Connect your monitor directly to your laptop and see if it is recognized and you can go through FN + F5 between the two views.

  This used to work before but stopped working 3 days ago and I don't know why. I have a USB with Huawei option or insert the SIM card under the battery then use Mobilink.   I love my laptop Portege I bought this month of September. The only thing is that the DVD player is not working for some time.
  -When I put a DVD or CD, I realize I can't freely turn the disc in the drive while it is still open. Strange, but I don't see anything blocking the rotation of the disk.

  I have a Portege R705 and for about 2 years I had a configuration with two samsung Syncmaster 2443 poster, a connected in VGA and 1 with a hdmi cable to dvi.

  I have never encountered any problem until one of the screens could not detect a signal. No monitor can detect the hdmi signal and two detect the VGA.

  I proceeded to buy an hdmi adapter to dvi and connect the dvi cable shipped with the monitor on my screen, but without success.

  I am enough ideas, someone knows something similar or someone at - it ideas on how to fix it?

  I've never heard of a Toshiba laptop that is supported by Windows XP 64-bit. That's why Windows XP 64-bit was not so popular, and the driver support wasn t so good.
  Also, I checked the Web from Toshiba site and there is no XP 64 bit drivers available.

  It's really hard to say why this is happening and theoretically what could be the reason for this: bad drivers, virus, CPU, RAM, motherboard, etc.

  Before you think about exchanging your hardware, you must update the display driver. This is why start in safe mode and uninstall the display driver. After that, start Windows normally and try to install the new driver to display on the Toshiba site.

  You wrote that this also happens if you boot from DVD. Have you tested the Toshiba Recovery disk? Normally it it shouldn't t happen.
