Potential problem of print head

I use a HP Officejet L7780 printer.  The printer is in my house in the Southwest.  I'm missing the months more hot 6 (May - October), so I keep the internal room temperature does not exceed 86 degrees.  The printer is off in these 6 months.  When I got home, the printer was printing not every black line.  Naturally, I though that the black ink had dried up given the hot temperatures inside the House, so I bought a new black ink cartridge.  Who has not solved the problem, so now I suspect the Black/Yellow Printhead.  I removed the print head, cleaned up as suggested and reinserted.  Now I get the alignment error failed on the printer.  I followed the instructions to fix this error, but nothing seems to solve this problem, so I suspect the print heads may not because of the intense heat that they have been exposed to six months.  Does that seem reasonable? I didn't buy new print heads if this problem was caused by something else.

If the heart is the source of the problem, so should I remove the ink cartridges and the printhead of the printer and store them in a cool place for 6 months, that the printer is not used?

Yes, you can store them in an airtight container under normal room temperature. That should be fine.

I ask you to mark my post as the Solution so other users with the same issue can benefit from this thread.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus: problem of print head

Have had this printer for a couple of years without any problems.  All of a sudden getting the message: printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed. Lived all the recommended diagnostic checks but still a problem. I got it working the first time but then after a few days print message pops up again. The message won't let me come back to the homescreen on the printer.  I took it by a realignment and the printer prints a test page. If the printhead has been the problem, then I thought that he would not be able to print a test page. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your support Gemini02.  As well as through the HP recommended diagnostic tests I blush as the printhead to hot water, but still the same message. I also downloaded and reloaded the drivers, but to no avail.  The machine is 3.5 years old and so I came to the conclusion, it exceeded its use by date.  The cost of a new print head is $ 70 while the printer, HP Officejet pro 8600, is now manufactured and was replaced by the Officejet pro 8620 which sold $275 by HP.  HP said that because of the age of the printer, there is no guarantee that a new printhead will not solve the problem.  I then bit the bullet and ordered a new printer.

  • New print head for V715w?

Anyway is to buy a new printhead for Dell's Dell V715w printer (or someone else)? The current print head is therefore nothing good, I have about $ 150 of ink on the spot and I would use it.  I can't believe that Dell does not place a small piece of plastic/silicone and expects me to just buy a new printer.

    -Aurélie

    Aurélie,

We found that the price of a print head is the price of a new printer. If the printer is under warranty, contact Dell.

If this isn't the case, then try these procedures.

  • Re: HP Photosmart 10 incompatible with print head?

Hi pepsi66, your printer model has a removable print head, which is the part on the printer that feeds the ink sit in. It seems that the print head may have temporarily lost most likely full contact when supplies were removed and the new installed. Here is a link explaining how to replace the printhead. If you follow the instructions here you can remove and reinstall the printhead, which should clear the error.

Gee, thanks for the instructions on how to solve the problem of print head!  The demonstration on the pages of HP were incredible and very clear.  Then I'll try to find the replacement printhead in the part of Helsinki store or then I buy it online.

Very grateful for your help!  I am also a former employee of HP from 1973 to 1989 and always trust products HP!

  • HP Photosmart C309A: black ink does not print - print head prints correctly to a different printer

Black does not print. (All HP inks) Replaced the black head - has still not printing.  Tested in an another HPprinter - head works very well.

Please answer - is there a software, cabling, physical issue with the black only?  (Tried to restart the printer and cleaning already)

    Hi @KenKrieger,

I understand that you are having problems with the black does not print, you have replaced the printhead to another printer and it prints fine. I want to help you.

I'm assuming that you used the same cartridges in the print head when you try them in another printer, let me know if you didn't like it.

Given that the new printhead works in another unit, it seems that it would be a problem with the hardware with the printer and it would need to be repaired.

I have provided all the documentation for this problem, probably all of the steps have been made previously.

Documentation to solve the black does not print:

Printer prints a blank Page or does not print black or color ink for the HP Photosmart Premium C309a...

This document provides instructions to manually clean the contacts of the cartridge.

' Ink cartridge problem - following ink cartridges seems to be missing or corrupt "Message say...

Here is a document to manually clean the print head.

'Print head problem' or "Print head seems to be missing or corrupt" Message appears on the computer...

  • Problem with the HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: clean the print heads each time it is turned on

    Hello everyone,

the printer HP all-in-one Officejet Pro 8500 (A909a - product n. CB022A) clean the print heads whenever I turn it on. This problem affects any HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer, it is not a problem only of this one I bought. It is a boring bug and annoying because each power clean print heads on involves two bad disadvantages:

    1. waste of ink (each heads cleaning process consumes little ink);
    2. too much time (2-3 minutes) to prepare the printer after plugging.

I upgraded my printer with the latest firmware available on the HP site (firmware ver. DLM1FN1006BR), but the bug is still present.

    At this point, I ask:

    1. There is a way (or procedure) to disable automatic cleaning this useless to all power on?
    2. Can we communicate with the HP engineers or tell me how to contact directly one of them to indicate the bug and request a new firmware updated?

Please don't tell me to leave the printer on all the time or that the printheads to each cleaning power is normal behavior! Where then are power and ink savings claimed for this printer model?

I hope that a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance to everyone will help me!

Maintenance when the printer is turned on is normal and is required to keep the printheads in good health (not blocked). See here for more information.

With respect to energy savings, the printer automatically goes to low power mode when the don't feel not for awhile.  It is not necessary turn the unit on to save energy.

  • print head problem Officejet 8500 has

    Hello

I just replaced all my ink cartridges, and still it tells me that there is a printhead problem; the message says to replace the printhead to resume printing.

Didn't I do it when I changed the ink cartridges?  Visual instructions on the printer seems to show a slightly different model of what I, and the print head seems to be separate.  It does not have to be the case in my model.  Anyway, the instructions also say press the button 'change print head' in the main menu, I can not even to the main menu but it is stuck on the message "print head problem".

I'd appreciate some advice on how to proceed!

    Thanks in advance!

  • Photosmart B109 question - display message print head problem cannot be removed

Hi all, I just bought a used B109 printer/scanner, and I can't get rid of the message on the display screen.

I bought the unit knowing he had a problem with Printhead and am waiting for a new print head, but the problem is, the language of unity has been defined in Czech by the former owner, and I want to change it to English. However, the process to change the language (press on high righ, middle left and bottom left buttons and the display screen) will not work because the display shows the message print head problem, and I can't get rid of the message.

Is it possible to access the menu, while the print head message always?

Oh, and is it possible to really connect with HP? Through their support just site ends with Q & A generic, that does not solve my problem as stated above... :-(

    Hello TonyW1967,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

In fact, you will have to wait until the new printhead is installed and clear the error before we can enter the setting menu to change the language on the printer.

Here's the information to call the Tech Support of HP.  If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, please click here: click here.

    Thanks for your time.

  • With print head problems

The guarantee statement in my manual says that print heads, when the customer replaceable, are warrenteed for up to one year. What I have not been able to determine, if the Photosmart 5510 is such a machine? 5510 customer print heads are replaceable?

    Hi FitnessGeek,

    In general, here's coverage options.

    1. Self-help through searches using HP troubleshooting documents found on the HP site or using the HP Forums, you did.
    2. For many printers, the user can pay phone support to try to help solve the problems.  It does not cover the material.  Because it looks like you have a hardware problem, it probably wouldn't be a good option.
    3. For many printers, upgrade options available there.  These printers can be slightly used certified refurbished HP printers that have the one year warranty.  They will look and act like a new printer.  If you decide to check in this option, be sure and ask the agent on the 1 year warranty for $1.00 for improvements.  So for $1.00, you can have a full warranty on the printer for 24 months from the date of purchase.  For more information contact HP worldwide .

Let me know if you need more information.

  • Dell V515W print head problem

My printer has stopped working.  "I'm getting a ' there is a problem with the printhead" error.  I've cleaned and deep cleaned the print head.  Just before it began, my pages were all blue print.  Now, I can't clean clean/deep/align or anything because of the error.  The print head is not available for purchase from Dell.  The printer is 15 months old.

My printer for several days would print my empty document.  First printing color stops working then stopped printing black. I followed all the instructions of the printer, and nothing happens.  On my screen of the printer, it keep saying: "does not." Insert a new print head.  I call dell (1-800-624-9897) and had them take over my computer to solve the problem with my printer.  The representative did a job through and found no problem.  They send me another printer in 5 bus. days. The print head is the problem.  Where can I buy new printhead in the future?

  • I have the print head and the alignment of the problems with our officejetpro8500 910 a.

We noticed that the cyan ink was not printing. The product is out of warranty about five weeks before we noticed a problem. We have replaced all the ink with the new hp ink cartridges. We have tried printhead cleaning several times until the third level cleaning when cleaning the print head has failed. We tried to align the printheads without success. We have been dealing with this during more than a month now. We have only 440 pages printed during our first page of self-test diagnostics. Our print head shows that it is under warranty until April 4,2012. We consulted a repair center. We have exausted all the other options until the replacement printhead. We changed to print in black only. Now, she wants to print a test page everytime we try to print something. Ink, we bought at costco for this printer was a third of the price of a new model of 8600. Please help before my wife beat me with this printer!

If the printhead says it expires April 3, 2013, so the date of warranty.  You should be able to get a replacement print head by contacting technical support of HP and good news, it should be free, since the part is under warranty.  You can join the 1-800-474-6836 technical support to the United States and the Canada International users click here.  Let me know what happens.

  • OfficeJet Pro 6835: Print head problem

Getting the message print head problem. I checked guaranteed, says it is active, but when I click on contact HP support, I get the following: "this product is is more served by HP.» You can search for possible solutions on this Web site.

It absolutely won't let me access a form to fill for the customer support, nor give me additional info on how to solve this problem. Any suggestions?

Step 4 don't give me the phone number and the file number. This option is chat or twitter. Waiting for chat now. Do you have an indication that the warranty was until December 29, 2016.

Edit: Cat ordered a replacement with an order number, so I think we can close this.
