Potentially Fan is a failure

I was asked to watch a show of warmth with a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop.

I've first turning on laptop, I could feel the heat under the corner front left. It seems to be a vent on the side, at this time, that we could hear that the fan was running very high. It was the only place where the heat can be felt. When I started, there is no error message on the computer.

I powered it works again, this time the fan was not running high, but if you put your ear up to the fan on the underside of the laptop, it does not look like it was running at a constant speed. He turned you could hear it slow down the rhythm and speed upward, made several times.

I have it off once again, 2nd once and now the fan runs at what I'd say it's a normal speed. I couldn't feel the warmth in the corner left front as the first said.

So, in my unprofessional opinion, looks like the fan may be failing, but then, that's why I try to get a view of the forum.

Is there a better way to check?

It's an easy solution?, if so where can I find a spare part?

I'm open to suggestions.

Please ask additional questions of clarification.

  • Fan is a failure on the 6th generation airport base

Recently the fan on my airport began to howl and grinding.  It is more under warranty, but I am pretty sure that I can replace it if I had a replacement part number.  Google was not helpful.  Any suggestions?

The fan has a common point of failure on this model?

Unfortunately, Apple considers that AirPort Extreme waterproof a device, and as such, they do not spare parts for the product.

You will have to possibly remove the old fan and see if it might be an original manufacturer and number on the piece itself that you could use to find a suitable replacement.  The airport I took out some used time ago a fan of Delta. See step 12 in the article below.

We do not see very many reports of noisy fans... the usual problem is an intermittent power supply.

You need to be extremely careful when you open the AirPort Extreme that there are a number of connectors that can be easily broken.

This article should provide assistance and advice:

  • Fan CPU T410 failures?

So I replaced my fair share of fans of the T61 processor because of their disappearance, lock up and giving a fan error when starting.

Show everyone in the biz to repair a growing trend of this? Or is it just me?

  • Sporadic fan starting failure message. This speaks to the need to replace the fan?

Sometimes when I restart my desktop computer after being absent for a day or two, I get a message of fan failure.  I immediately turned off the computer. I wait a few minutes and try to restart.  The reboot is going well.  Has anyone else had this type of message?  What I need to check that the fan is a failure?  If this is the case, where you can hold a replacement fan?

Yes, this is indicative of a faulty fan. I was getting messages from 'System fan failure' sporadic on my HP a1632x. I first removed all dust and dirt, then decided to put one or two drops of oil on the bearings and 'exercise' the fan to work the oil in the compressed air. Two years later, and not once fan failure message.

According to the fan being a system fan or CPU fan may affect where you can hold a replacement. To start, try Newegg.com. Take the measurements of the existing fan. Check the BIOS for the fan RPM speed and buy the one that is at least this fast if it is 10% faster. Make sure that it is a three lead with tachometer coonector.

  • Pavilion p6110f locks intermittent - fan.

I have a Pavilion p6100f that locks in shortly after Win 7 64 bit lance.  According to me, the culprit causing blockages is a defective or if there is no heat sink.  I bought the entire radiator and fan (p/n 614946-001).  However, there are videos showing the removal and installation of the heatsink, or is there a documentation showing me how to install the heat sink.  I have thermal paste and the radiator ready to go.  Please advise as soon as possible.  Thank you.

If the pop-up messages, take a look to see if the fan is still running. If it is then that indicates a fan of sensor failure.

You said "your customer". That deducted that you may be a technician.

    Hi @mac12345678 ,

Welcome to the HP Forums! I hope you have a great experience with us.

I see that you are looking for instructions on replacing your fan. I'll be able to help you with that. Here is your Maintenance and Service of Guide on page 91, you can find instructions on how to remove it. Since you have an Intel processor there are three potential fans for replacement, I'm not 100% that is ideal for your model. I would recommend giving us a call, and the agent on the line should help with that. • Siebel & Disqualification - what happens in case of failure of the Disqualification?

    Hello

We think about how monitor the Disqualification and its communication with Siebel, to be notified in case of problems.

The best possibility would be monitoring web services Disqualification, just to see the availability of http, or even with sample data. However, this would not cover communication between the Disqualification and Siebel. Are there best practices on how to monitor this part? Perhaps with something like logcheck?

Or, as a more general question: how exactly Siebel reacting if Disqualification is not accessible or if there are problems in the communication of the Disqualification, the generation of keys, either for verification of duplicates? The Siebel Data Quality provider running several web service against Disqualification request, so I see potentially several points of failure - even if caused by a misconfiguration.

    Hello

Customers generally adopt one of the following strategies here:

1 set up so that they should still be running if the application server is running, and let's assume they are if it's jobs in real time. This leaves a window of risk as specific web services are not monitored and it is possible that he could have not detected the time if the job fails, but the application server is not.

2 ping the web services with dummy data that are not consumed to verify that they are available. Gives good control, even if it may pollute the logs a bit.

3 monitor web services by using a script that checks via JMX of Disqualification interface - the path to check is disqualification/Runtime/data/buckets/realtime/projects / [project name] /readers/ [name of web service] and opening check = 1 (for the race) not 0 (no not running).

The behavior in Siebel web service Disqualification is not reachable is configurable in the dnd.properties file that controls the connector. By default, each service call "integrated security" that is set to true, which means an error is generated in the newspapers if the service cannot be called but the end users see no error. Change the failsafe to false indicates the user will see an error if the service is not available.

  • Dell Vostro 420 - fan not mounted

    Hello

I take my Vostro 420 with Core2Quad Q9650, but I would like to start making serious games with him, and I'm afraid that the CPU fan and chassis fan never accelerate ramp with the heat.

I ran Prime95 x 64 with HWMonitor, temperature monitoring.  It is in the high 60s and the CPU fan stayed at 1300 rpm or more and the frame of the fan 800 rpm and has never changed.

I tried to run Speedfan and it has correctly detected the fan speed, but I can't change it.  Speed already shows 100% which is incorrect, because I know that they are not turning at high speed and pressing on the top and bottom in SpeedFan has no effect.

Can release you a BIOS update that corrects the inactive PWM fan control?

    Thank you

Edit: I am aready using the 1.3.0 latest BIOS.

    Hello

It is a Committee of OEM Foxconn (G45A01), and Dell just used a regular Phoenix BIOS (and has not paid for it.  BIOS string reads "Phoenix Bios of demo" or something like that).  There is no fan of detection failure, but I have the original fans in there.

The regulator detects in Speedfan and the ROTATION speed is displayed correctly, but I can't change the speed.

It is most likely a very simple solution.  Foxconn could fix for Dell in a jiffy ;)

    Thank you

My PC suddenly started to fade.  Things worked very well and then all of a sudden it's as if someone just keeps pushing the power button to do a forced hard shutdown.  This happens several times a day now (started last week).  I have scanned for viruses/malware and performed maintenance such as checking errors in registry, checkdisk, own drive for temporary files, and so on with no resolution. After a lot of research on the internet on this kind of problem, I saw a number of people who spoke a coup without turnoff of warning being due to heat issues.  Assuming that the problem was due to my computer overheating so I used little of compressed air to blow on all areas of the event and around the fan on the underside of the laptop. After doing this, my computer seems to be less noisy (not too strong fan) and overall failure is less heat.  I did have a recurrence of the problem in the last 24 hours while it was intermittent occurring since the last few days.  I had recently traveled with the computer in a more humid environment that my house so don't know if this helped.

I also checked the event logs for events around the time I knew the computer shuts off but can't find anything notable that said something about heat material or similar.

    Hello

IE was running is very important to the solution to the issue - check below.

    -----------------------------------

BEX errors often are caused by toolbars such as Google, TrendMicro and others. You use one
3rd toolbars in IE? Cause and solution is the same for Vista and Windows 7.

What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Be one you have NEVER
on this machine, including those you have uninstalled (they leave remnants behind which emits causes).

Start - all programs - Accessores - system tools - IE with no Addons - does this work better?

IE - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - tab click on restore advanced settings, and then click RESET - APPLY / OK

IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security tab - click on Reset all areas - APPLY / OK

Close and restart IE or IE with no addons

Start - all programs - Accessores - system tools - IE with no Addons - does this work better?

IE - tools - manage Addons (for sure disable SSV2 if she's here, it is no longer necessary but Java still
installs and it causes problems - you never update Java to go back in and turn it off again). Look for other
    possible problems.

Windows Defender - tools - software explore - look for problems with programs that do not look right.
Allowed are usually OK and "unauthorized" are not always bad. If in doubt about a program, ask
    topic here.

Could be that a BHO - SpyBHOremover - free - program of autonomous, needs no installation, download, unzip
and run. Also not all the BHO is bad, that some managed bars of tools and features that you added.

    Startup programs

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you never think malware updated, then

  • Error 90 b when startup on computer laptop g62

I recently did not use my computer for several days. I started it upward and then made a few hw and shut down. The next time I went to the Tower on I got and error 90 b. I already disassembled and cleaned the fan, but I still receive the message. The fan works from time to time, but stop just at random. What can do fix a question?

It looks like the fan is a failure, that is, the fan is dying.

    You can try...

After checking the fan is clean,

It is recommended that you try a Hard Reset to this problem.

Depending on the cause of the failure, it may solve the problem.

Hard Reset allows you to solve problems of software and hardware

Another document on the subject covers what you did - take a look to make sure you don't miss anything:

The fan runs constantly, the PC is running more slowly than expected and generates heat .

    ==================================================================================

You cannot run the computer without a fan, at least not for very long.  The laptop turns off to protect against catastrophic damage (severe).

You must address this problem.  This means that you should at least replace the fan, assuming that it is the central point of failure.

The exact solution depends on the root cause.  You must either risk yourself, take the computer to a repair shop that you trust, or call HP and ask them to fix it for you.

    Contact HP

Good luck.  I hope that you get your laptop fixed.

  • Voting Quorum failgroup or regular failgroup files location?

About the notion of quorum failgroup ORACLE writes:
QUORUM of discs, or in groups of lack of quorum, cannot contain all database files,
(OCR) Oracle Cluster registry, or dynamic volumes. However, the QUORUM disks
can contain the file with voting for synchronization of Cluster Services (CSS). Oracle ASM
whenever files disk quorum uses or groups failed quorum for the vote
    possible.

To sum up, I think that is the difference between a regular failgroup and a quorum quorum failgroup failgroup can only contain files of voice and an ordinary one can contains several types of files.
So I don't see any advantage to place files with right to vote on a quorum failgroup on a regular. Why Oracle has introduced the notion of quorum failgroup?
    Thanks in advance.

Why Oracle has introduced the notion of quorum failgroup?

You must configure an odd number of disks with right to vote because the vote of the files are concerned, a node must be able to access more than half of the files with the right to vote at any time (simple majority). In order to be able to tolerate failure of n files in vote, need at least 2n + 1 configured. (n = number of files with voting rights) for the cluster.

If you lose 1/2 or more of all your disks with right to vote, then nodes get evicted from the cluster, or nodes to expel from the cluster.

For this reason when using Oracle for the redundancy of your discs with voting rights, Oracle recommends that customers use disks of 3 or more voting.

If you use only a 1 H/W storage and it is fail. Together the cluster falls down including all the voting disk is not serious the number configured.

The problem in an extended cluster configuration (Extended RAC) is that most of the facilities use only two storage systems (one on each site), which means that the site that hosts the majority of voting records is a potential single point of failure for the entire cluster. If the storage or the site where the files of n + 1 vote is configured fails, the entire cluster will go down, because Oracle Clusterware will lose the majority of the files.

To avoid a complete cluster failure, Oracle will support a third vote file on a cheap lowend, standard NFS mounted device somewhere in the network. Oracle recommends the file NFS vote on a dedicated server, which belongs to a production environment.

Thus, you will create a file on NFS "cooked leader" (as a disk) and present to the DSO. From this point of ASM does not know that ASMDISK between the network (wan) and it's a "cooked" file

Then, you must mark this ASMDISK as QUORUM, because Oracle will use this ASMDISK only to store the VOTEDISK. This will prevent him causing problem perfomance or dataloss store data (such as data files).

  • Quorum failgroup

    Hello.
I created diskgroup with redundancy normal without specifying any failgroups and correctly migrated files in the diskgroup vote. All failgroups are normal. Then, what is "quorum failgroup" and when it should be used?

    Hello

1-how votedisk is stored on ASM Diskgroup?
Discs with voting rights are placed in the header of the disk of an ASM diskgroup. The number of disks with voting rights is based on the diskgroup redundancy:
    External (no mirroring) = 1 votedisk; Normal = 3 votedisk; High redundancy (triple mirrored) = 5 votedisk;
Oracle Clusterware will store the votedisk disk within a disk group that contains the files to vote.

However OCR however is saved as a normal (as any a tablespace data file) of the file inside the ASM and therefore "inherits" the diskgroup redundancy.
So while you see only 1 file, the file blocks are reflected accordingly (double or triple (High)).

Vote records can only reside in a diskgroup. You can't create another disc to vote in a separate DG.

2-how well votedisk must be configured?

3 - Why use voting Quorum disk?

If you use only a 1 H/W storage and it is fail. Together the cluster falls down including all the voting disk is not serious the number configured.

The problem in a stretch cluster configuration, is that most of the facilities use only two storage systems (one on each site), which means that the site that hosts the majority of voting records is a potential single point of failure for the entire cluster. If the storage or the site where the files of n + 1 vote is configured fails, the entire cluster will go down, because Oracle Clusterware will lose the majority of the files.

  • Degraded RAID 1 array: PowerEdge 2800

Hello to everyone. I hope someone can shed some light on this unusual situation.

I have a PowerEdge 2800, which must be replaced before May this year, this is a great server and done an excellent job over the past 7 years.

OK for the problem; The server administrator has been a failure on 0:0

    In the server, we have:

    0: Maxtor 36 GB 15 k 0 0:1 Fujitsu 73 GB 15 k something 1:2... 1:3 something...

So, I jumped 0:0 and the server worked great with a range of gradations, and 15 seconds I inserted back to the PE2800. After about 45 minutes the RAID 1 array has been rebuilt, but it still says expected failure. So I thought that better order some new readers - I received today; 2 x 146 GB 15 k Seagate Cheetah.

OK, so I jumped 0:0 drive and inserted one of the 146 GB Cheetah and the server crashed - wouldn't boot at all and gave me an error stating that the logical drive failed.

Thus, in the PERC4i BIOS, I forced drive 0:1 online and the server is now back operational but with a range of gradations.

So that's where I am, what choice do I have?

Insert the old disk with a predicted failure, leave it alone or try the 146 GB Cheetah. I don't really want to do an any of them, but I will order another 73 GB Fujitsu in the meantime.

I want to know is why the server crash after having inserted the cheetah disc? I traded to many-a-time pluggable hard drives in the past in several dell breaks and never experienced anything like this.

Degraded running, any response would be massively appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

"So, I'm now to square, where I have a RAID1 system with a disk failure planned.  What would you do from here on? »

Another thing that many people do not know is with a disk of pf, should it be forced offline before replacing, if not the FP flag can be assigned to the new drive (until a real "rescan" is performed) and can result in strange behavior (the controller is more sensitive to potential readers of pf failure).

    "Common sense says I can't mix-match 10 k / 15 k TPM!

You CAN / layout speeds and/or sizes (there's nothing wrong with him "technically"), but in real-world scenarios, you would ever want to mix speeds (depending on the configuration, it degrade the speed of the whole picture).  One thing you can't do is mix U320 SCSI U160 readers on a bottom of basket/controller.

"What would you do from here on?

I guess from here depends on what you feel more comfortable making.  There is a chance that the pf reader works fine until you are finished with the server (or until you can get another replacement - if you feel another replacement would be better than those you currently have), even if it might cause additional problems if his condition deteriorates.  There is a chance it could happen again if you try to replace it, but I think it's unlikely to happen.  If it was me (and it is important to remember that this isn't :)), I force disk 0 offline and replace "hot" by the other 146 GB drive.  Another thing you could do, who feel probably less risky, is simply to insert the disc of 146 GB in an open slot, assign as a relief, then force offline disk 0, which results in a regeneration start automatically with disk 0.

  • Second NFS Server - extended RAC

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me with a question.

I implement a scope rac (11.2.3 in AIX 6.1) in normal redundancy with the DSO, but my diskgroup to my files of votings and ocr 2 raw devices + 1 file vote by NFS, so my question is if I can add other NFS server to put a 4 vote file, if my first NFS server is dead so I would have my second NFS server as backup. Also if I put a 4 file in the diskgroup to vote in normal redundancy 4 files will be the same or votes only 3 files will be equal and the other will be offline?

Thanks if anyone can help me.

    Kind regards.

Although the vote of the files are concerned, a node must be able to access more than half of the files with the right to vote at any time (simple majority). In order to be able to tolerate failure of n files in vote, need at least 2n + 1 configured. (n = number of files with voting rights) for the cluster.
The problem is that if you use both storage systems, which means that the site that hosts the majority of the votes of the files is a potential single point of failure for the entire cluster. If the storage or the site where the files of n + 1 vote is set fails, the entire cluster will go down, because Oracle Clusterware will lose the majority of the files
To avoid a complete cluster failure, Oracle will support a third vote file on a cheap lowend, standard NFS mounted device somewhere in the network.

For this reason, Oracle introduced the option DISK QUORUM in 11.2. This option should be used only when we have even number of storage HW.
The QUORUM DISK is a DISK on NFS or third place which will not store DATA (IE only VOTEDISK), because we can only provide HW STORAGE to it. And the use of these alternative storage option can cause problem if perfomance of the stored data.
I think that a QUORUM of the voting disk is sufficient, because if your NFS die your cluster will be online, because you do not lose votedisk another.
You can have another host configured with NFS running in Standby Mode, if primary NFS die you can online (from clusterware) remove the NFS votedisk failed and configure votedisk third on Standby NFS.

Use disc to 4th vote is wrong.
You must configure an odd number of disks with right to vote. (To add 4th on NFS, you must choose 5 storage location "IE 5 vote file" in order to set up an odd number)

If you lose 1/2 or more of all your disks with right to vote, then nodes get evicted from the cluster, or nodes to expel from the cluster.
For this reason when using Oracle for the redundancy of your discs with voting rights, Oracle recommends that customers use disks of 3 or more voting.
Note: It is recommended to use an odd number as 4 drives will be more highly available than 3 disks, 3 1/2 is 1.5... rounded up to 2, 4 1/2 is 2, once you lose 2 discs, your cluster fails with 4 disks to vote.
