Presario cq61: winload.exe... status: OxcOOOOOOf

cannot start windows... windows Startup Manager informs me the \windows\system\32\winload.exe file is missing or corrupted, status: OxcOOOOOOf... I inserted the disk os and changed the first boot on a cd but it will not read it and brings back me to the Boot Manager.

Hi Alan,

It would look like the HARD drive failed (the complete test often will accomplish not in this case) and it is compatible with the winload.exe error.

If you have questions about replacing the drive, or simply the interview Guide & Service, please let me know - include the full model number and your notebook cq61 series Nr - see here for an explanation.

Kind regards

    Hello

I suggest you borrow the CD of windows vista to your friends

    Step 1:

I suggest you check in safe mode.

Start your computer in safe mode

    Step 2:

If you be able to start your computer in safe mode, I'd say make clean boot and check.

Place the computer in a clean boot state, then check if it helps. You can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

This question is a bit Advanced for Windows answers Forum.  We don't often treat the problems involved RAID (especially those where access is denied by the normal methods).  The above was my best effort, but being a RAID 1 system, it did not work as I had hoped.  I recommend repost you in the Technet Forum:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/itprovistahardware/threads where people are a little more technical will be happy to help you.

Not sure how it all works, but I guess that recovery stuff are stored on a separate partition. Problem is I guess you must be able to start to load windows before you even get to do this?

I downloaded and tried a boot with no joy, and of course vista recovery disk, toshiba provide a vista disk. How the hell can I recover from this situation?

    Hello!

If you are not able to get in the boot menu for HARD drive recovery, you must use a Microsoft Vista disc to reinstall the OS.
Or you use the Toshiba recovery disc but I think you forgot to burn the disk because normally you get a message (recovery point) you want to burn the disc.

However, you can order a Toshiba Toshiba recovery disc directly:

My computer laptop satellite toshiba A300D

    Hello

You mean that you are not able to recover the laptop using the HDD recovery procedure?
You can begin the HARD drive by pressing F8, choose fix my computer.
Then a new window should appear and you could choose a new option called Toshiba HDD recovery.

If this is not possible then I think that you don't have a choice but to reinstall the OS using a Setup (Microsoft or Toshiba) disk.
If you don t have this disc then you order on this website:

  • Winload.exe damaged or missing (0xc0000221)

Have been running Vista on a T61 Lenovo Think Pad for more than a year and just today (just a week after the expiration of the warranty), windows vista does not completely start.  I get the black screen with the following error:

Windows could not start. a recent change in hardware or software may be the cause. to resolve this problem:
(boot from the cd and repair windows) (actually doesn't say that, but that's what he tells you to do)
    File: /windows/system32/winload.exe
    Status: 0xc0000221
Info: the file is corupt possibaly. the header checksum does not match the checksum calculated.

I created a boot disk (since the manufacturer did not provide with the laptop) and was able to perform the repair (with no luck) and system restore (with no luck).  I can get in the quick c: through the startup disk and I ran the BIOS screen HARD drive diagnosis and it happened (so far... still underway).

The manufacturer support told me that I needed to remove or replace my HDD and reinstall Windows which I can't believe would be the solution to this...

    Help, please!

    Thank you.

  • Satellite A210 - 4 1: Winload.exe problem after having used the product recovery disc

    Hello

I could really do with some help here. I have a PC laptop Toshiba Satellite A210 - 1 4. Disk partitioned with Vista home premium service pack 4.0.

Last night, I used the product recovery disc supllied with the laptop in an attempt to restore its initial configuration.

and the end of the procedure, I find myself with a prompt cmd with X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe in the high bit blue box indicating:

Error: imageX could not apply vista F:\05993xsp.swm Index 2 of ODD to C:\!

Press a key to continue. Box disappears then an administrator: X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe in the top blue bit indicating:

    waiting for ODD vacancies...
    STRANGE drive f: loan.
Look for support in the F: drive...
Failed to initialize the raid class.
    No RAID - continue normally...

    X:\Windows\System32 >

Now every time the laptop trying to restart it just comes up with the error message:

CANNOT START WINDOWS. A RECENT HARDWARE CHANGE OR SOFTWARE MAY BE THE
    CAUSE
    FILE: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WINLOAD. EXE
    STATUS: 0XC000000E
INFO: THE SELECTED ENTRY COULD NOT BE LOADED BECAUSE THE APPLICATION
    IS MISSING OR DAMAGED

Below I have then have the possibility of esc or continue with the same result of the system attempts to restart.

The recovery disc has no option of repair on this subject.

need help please, I have no idea.

    Thank you

    Hello

Looks like something was wrong during the recovery procedure.
Have you tried to recover the laptop once more?
If this isn't the case, you should definitely try this!

You are right; hasn t drive recovery option for the repair because the recovery disk is not the same as a MS Vista drive. The recovery disk contains image files (it s a package) and the files contains Vista, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.

So if something was happening well wrung out during the recovery procedure, you will not be able to repair the installation of the OS, but you need to run it again.

    Hello

As I see that the hard drive on your unit has failed you need to replace the hard drive, then reinstall the operating system on your device then only unit will return to operational status.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

I installed vista and seven in dual boot. I installed vista with seven being previously. I used Easy BCD to create a new entry for in the splash screen using the player in which he has been installed. Now, when I tried to get I get the following error.

They say to use F8, but pressing F8 I get the same screen. I can only access seven when I have a dvd bootable seven in my dvd player. And then, I installed seven but the same problem is still there. I tried to use the fix in seven dvd but it said it had fixed a few problems and then restarted without any solution. What should I do?

Give me a detailed but easy tracking solution to...

    Hello

This problem may occur if the bootstrapper does not find Windows 7 boot sector or boot file.

    Follow these steps:

In Vista, open an elevated command prompt, Type (or copy and paste these if you wish).

    CD /d f:\windows\system32

    then press enter

    BCDboot f:\windows /s c:

    and then press ENTER.

    Close command prompt.

    Restart the pc.

    See this link - http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/30572-problem-dualboot-vista-7-winload-exe-error-2.html

  • Upgrade CPU, system does not boot, winload.exe "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file.

Subject pretty much said it all.  I got a new CPU, shut down the computer, installed, and now Win7 does not start.  It hangs on a black screen gripe on a signature file.  Here is the full text:

"A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source."

If you have a Windows installation disc, insert the disc and restart your computer.  Click 'Repair your computer' and choose a recovery tool.

Otherwise, to start Windows, so you can investigate further, press the ENTER key to display the boot menu, press F8 for Advanced Boot Options, select last known good configuration.  If you understand why the digital signature file cannot be verified and want to start Windows without this file, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement.

    File: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

    Status: 0xc0000428

Info: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. »

Well, the first thing I did was put in the installation CD and reboot to try the thing "repair your computer".  Charge, said he found a problem, said he has fixed the problem and restarted.  But it always hangs on the same screen of the error.

So I tried to hit Enter and then F8 as it said to do, but brings me right to the error screen.  I'm stuck, there is nothing that I can do, and I need this computer to work tomorrow.

Another interesting note is that the recovery on the installation CD tool identifies my system installed Windows Vista... wtf.

    Help?

I don't know if this post will solve your problem, but it can give you new ideas or angles to try.
