• Practically in segregation a virtual machine within the same network

  We have a VMware ESXi 5.0.0 (504890) host that has physically 4 network cards. We run 3 VMs on that host and turning a new config. However, this new virtual machine will replace our old Windows DC, DNS, server DHCP etc., and we'd like to config it before going live - will not perform us a migration of swing. We are a little worried that it can interfere with our direct network and that's why I would like to somehow almost segegrate it.

  For the moment, we have a single vSwitch0 linked to all our VMs and management card:

  

  What is the best way to do this so that our new DC (with the same domain name and within the same network) can be configured without it interfering with the current network.

  Hello

  You can create a second vSwitch without physical network interface cards. Create a VM Portgroup on this vSwitch.

  You can configure your new virtual machine to use the Portgroup. So, he won't have any connection to your network.

  The good thing is, when you want to test things with a customer, you can create a second VM and configure it to the same VM portgroup on the second vSwitch.

  Two virtual machines on this Portgroup can communicate with them because the traffic is handled internally by the host.

  I have confirmed with our engineers navto in the meta tag is not supported on Windows. It will work in a , or via window.location in JavaScript, but not in the meta tag.

  I think this is a basic question, but I couldn't find a clear answer in blogs, so thank you for your patience.

  We want to make sure that all Guest network traffic is routed through our physical network.  Configuration: VMs are contained in several groups of ports that are 'under' a unique vSwitch.  The vSwitch is associated with a physical NETWORK adapter, and each group of Port represents a different subnet.

  It's all each guest traffic goes through the physical NIC to our physical network (routers, etc.), including traffic from customers who are in the same group of Port/subnet?

  VSwitches function as physical switches. .so if 2 virtual computers are ion the same ESX host and in the same subnet, there is no need of any traffic go via your physical network.

  Of course, if the virtual machines are on different ESX hosts, traffic must go physical interrrupteurs to reach the destination addresses.

• How does the routing within a virtual private network?

  I have 2 sites with their own internet connection, and there is a router on both ends that use VPN endpoints.  Both sites use 192.168.x.0 24 IP on their local network.

  When I ping from a computer on my LAN to a machine on the other LAN, how is that routing happens?  I don't see all the entries in the routing table.  And Setup on both devices is very simple and does not all IP except each other static external IP.  So, how is my router knows that when I ping 192.168.40.15 192.168.100.3 it's time to use the VPN to the other network?  When I run a tracert on that same IP address, it shows just 3 entries, my internal gateway, the other networks external IP and 192.168.100.3.  When I run a tracert address IP external, complete list of hops.

  So how is this working?  Obviously, the two cases have the same jumps, but how my router knows that the other router is the endpoint for the traffic directed to the subnet 192.168.100.0/24?

  The way that routers identify it is interesting to be incrypted (traffic) through the crypto ACL that you set up and apply to the card encryption.  When that traffic gets into the router, the router checks the routing table and sees that it has no route to the 192.168.100.0 network if it sends traffic using the default route.  When the traffic between, or cross is perhaps a better term, is the external interface ACL crypto and the router begins to take steps to encrypt the traffic and send it on the VPN tunnel.

  The crypto ACL must be configured at both ends of the tunnel and be eachother mirror images.  So if one side has the ACL:

  access-list 101 permit ip 192.168.40.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.100.0 0.0.0.255

  then the other side will have to be:

  access-list 101 permit ip 192.168.100.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.40.0 0.0.0.255

  So to summarize, routing takes place, but it is in the form of the default route.  While traffic is about to leave the external interface it is mapped to the crypto ACL and if a match is found, the traffic is encrypted and sent over the VPN.

• Tips to add a VPN router to my current network configuration

  Dear all

  My apologies if the answer to this question already exists, however, I searched in many situations and none seem to match what I'm after.

  I currently have an ISP modem/router in Bridge mode connected to a TC of Apple which is my wireless router, I have 2 Express airport connected to this acting as the extensors of the range.  I have a VPN service through the MyPrivate network I activate on the desired device when required and everything works fine.

  What I want to do now is to be able to use my AppleTV and burning Amazon via the VPN as well so you need to add a VPN router in the configuration.  I want to finish with 2 wireless networks running together for these devices who need VPN and those who are not.  I don't want to lose the opportunity to extend the network to express it however airport.

  If someone could explain to me if this is possible and if so how do I set up the network.

  Basically you would need a device that supports VPN-passthrough and VLANS for your goals of networking. MyPrivate network, seems to be a VPN SSL, which is a user-server configuration. In other words, you install a client VPN on your Mac and you connect to the VPN network MyPrivate server to establish a VPN tunnel.

  Networking two or more "separated", should be using a router that supports VLAN services. Each segment of VIRTUAL local area network, in essence, would be a separate, she either wired or wireless network or a combination of both. This would probably be the 'easiest' part for the installation program.

  Now how combining the two would be the question, and I don't know what would be the best way, or even if it is possible.

  A few thoughts:

  • Use a router that supports VLANS. Create at least two VIRTUAL LAN segments. One for Apple TV & Burns, one for Internet access in general. Connect the device to VPN client host on the first segment, and configure for Internet sharing.
  • Download a dedicated VPN network application that supports hosting of third-party VPN clients, like yours. You would still need a router that supports VLAN to provided separate network segments.
  • Hire a consultant network. Let them know what you the goals of networking and ask them to offer potential solutions.

• Use the second router to extend the network to Time Capsule

  I have a v7.6.7 running Time Capsule 1 TB and older airport. I'm hoping to add a second router in a new location, and I use an ethernet cable from the TC at the new router (TP Link Archer C5), updated to the latest version of the firmware. The IP address of the TC is 192.168.1.1.

  I have set up my router C5 as follows: allocation of IP 192.168.1.199, value DHCP = off, and I connect a cable between the TC ports and port WAN (not Internet) available on the C5. In the C5 wireless settings, I tried both using the TC SSID and pw and creating a new SSID and pw. In both cases, the network will work for a short time, but eventually the entire network, including the TC, stops working. I made no changes to the parameters of the TC on any trial.

  Is it possible to use a TC and a router not Apple on the same network? If so, what are the right settings for the TC and the secondary router? If not, is it better to have the not Apple as main router and add the TC to the network created by the non-Apple router?

  Yes. That would be the basis of a network of mobile type.

  The key for a roaming network parameters are:

  • The 'primary' router must be configured as a router. In other words, it must have active NAT and DHCP services.
  • All other routers used in a network of roaming must be reconfigured as a bridge.
  • All routers must broadcast a Wi - Fi network that uses the same network (SSID, aka) name, and the type of wireless security, and the password.
  • All routers must be interconnected by Ethernet. To provide Powerline adapters using an Ethernet connectivity should also work.

  Should not really which is the main in the roaming network.

  I think at this point, your current circuit line. To check that, I would suggest that you consider to bring back the router C5 in the same room as you have the TC. Then connect it directly to one of the LAN of the TC ports. Complete the entire upward to a mobile network and test it. If everything works, bring back the C5 in the desired location, and then try again.

  If it fails, then the circuit line will be tested to check that it provides a solid 'Ethernet' connection between the adapters.

• PSC 2510: PSC 2510 Windows 8.1 - new router - can't change network settings

  OK so I got a new router so the IP address has goen of 169.254. * to 192.168. *.

  The page configuration network bed 169.254.124.x as the IP address and wireless can be found as the SSIS is hpsetup.

  I connected the USB cable, downloaded the HP printer Assistant Installer download and installed and it works great via USB.

  My question is how to operate via the network (wired / wireless).

  It is not rocket sceince, I spent hours tryign to make this work. The Wizard Windows Vista let me set it up easily, but what is the alternative Windows 8!

  If the router is WPS enabled, then following the instructions in the video that I have provided should allow you to connect. Otherwise, if it is not connected, you can use always an Ethernet cable from the printer to the router, or a USB cable from the printer to the computer.

  I have here is the configuration currently as below in the image. To describe the same internet cable is connected to a Cisco switch, which is connected to the PC in LAN (wired). A switch output is connected to the entrance of the wireless router Netgear Nighthawk AC 1900 Smart model of WiFi router # R6900. Wireless devices (laptop) are connected by the router.

  Each device has internet access. However, I am unable to run software LAN or unable to share any file of devices connected to the switch to the connected wireless devices. I can't ping any device the device wireless wired.

  Can anyone suggest what are the settings that I should do or what are the steps I should follow that will make wireless and wired devices in the same network.

  PS Plus early I tried the internet connection to the wireless router and then out of the router to pass, which has solved this problem. But slowing down my internet speed in wired devices. So, is it possible to have all devices in the network even with the current configuration?

  I really messed up and can't fix.  I have a Motorola WR850G wireless router.  I tried to set up a simple home network.  I use cable with a cable modem internet.  I have reset the modem for supposedly reset everything what he. Press reset for 30 seconds.  I think that the modem is now fine.  It shows 5 bars of connection.  I put the minimum security using share security.  I think I have it.  My problem is that I get a screen that says enter network authentication and now I'm stuck.  I tried all combinations of words that I usually use and nothing works.  I know, I know, stupid me should written these things.  Could someone please - please help me?  Thank you much in advance.

• Can I tie mulitple USB devices on my router now that Cloud Connect installed VUSB?

  Part of the Cisco Cloud Connect adds a program (Cisco VUSB) to your system when you add a USB printer. In the past, you could not put mulitple devices to the USB port on the router. This new software allows you to put more than one USB device to the USB port on the EA... routers?

  I don't think that there is an update for this one. I checked the release notes for the latest firmware (that of cisco connect cloud). It's always a usb for virtual USB device. Nothing new on the usb part. It will only be a printer OR a storage device, and not two or more.

  Reset the default router and configured properly by manual and name them something (the access point (s) - you might have several from a router/wireless access point) other than ZTE to see what see you then - something unique for you.
