Problem installing Quicken software

I tried to install Quicken Deluxe 2007 on a Windows Vista opperating system (that I learned that it was ok, even if the box says compatible Windows 2000/XP/2003.  The first time I put the disc, it has begun to install and update and everything seemed fine.  As soon as the Quicken updates were made and I thought that I would be able to enter the program, it locked up and makes the whole case "not responding".  Now, I think that if I would have let it go, he may have worked is present, but I don't know. Whatever it is, I have collapsed the Quicken installation wizard and tried again.  However, this time, the Setup wizzard basically jump to a screen stating that there was an interruption and the installation did not.  I tried to restart the computer, remove anything that was now on the computer after the partial failure of the attempt and then were without success.  Is there anyway to restore something that would back to how he has begun to settle that first time I put the CD in the computer?

Well, I could finally get things to work... so I wanted to meet this thred in case someone else had the same problem.  It's a little complicated, but it worked a second time when I fell into the same trap after I had loaded sucessfully to Quicken.  So here we go...  As it says above, and some people who responded to me (thanks by the way), there is a problem with a step of the update for Quicken 2007 when you try to run with Windows Vista.  (Now, to spoil the ending a little, if you need this particular form of the Quicken update for stocks and accelerate the payment, it is perhaps better to have a more recent version of Quicken that is Vista ready, that to mess with what I had to face.) Anyway, the first time I tried to install the program, I made the mistake to do this update of a step before I got the program up and running.  As it says above, the installation became does pluse and I had to close the program.  This affored all the icons of Quicken that have been placed on the desktop to be broken links/shortcuts. So, I tried to do a unstall with uninstallation of Quicken itself disk functionality, and it did not work.  Then I tried to unstall the normal list function Add/Remove programs in the control panel. It seemed to work at first, all of the icons on the desktop and the file have been removed, however, I have not noticed immediately that Quicken icon remained in the Add/Remove list.  So, I tried to start over with the disc of Quicken again to install the program, and it would allow me to do something.  It took me to a screen, modify, repair, or uninstall and no matter the choice, he shuffeled me up and said "interrupted installation" and the installation is not completed.  After fruitless attempts of different things that have been suggested above (thanks again), but nothing seemed to work.  Finally, he appeared on me to just try to copy the Quicken files in the program on my old computer files and place them in files of program on my new computer.  Now, of course it wasn't a real installation, so I wasn't expecting to work completely, but I had the chance of getting the answer.  When I copied the files into the new computer, I clicked on the application file "qw", which is the quicken launcher application.  Quicken have begun to open, but as already said, this was not a true install, so he directed me to uninstall, and then try again.  That's when I realized that my previous attempt to uninstall the program actually was not working, and that Quicken icon was still in the Add/Remove Programs list in the control panel.  Well, it worked this time, and everything was eventually withdrawn.  I went back to the original installation disc of Quicken and everything turned out as he did that very first time.  This time, I simply bypassed the update as suggested above, and everything was fine.  I entered all my transactions I needed and then saved my file as I always do.  Then I tried to do this update of a step, and of course, I came across the same problem, so I had to go through the uninstall of all, copy the old files, complete uninstall and then reinstall it again. (No data lost... phew!)  Now, because I use it just to keep my books, and I really don't need the stuff in line/stocks, I'll simply to avoid the update of a stage and not bad.  So, I hope this is useful to someone else and that you don't have to go through it, air conditioned and with confusion as I did.  I will keep checking on this post to see if anyone has the same problem and need help. I really appreciate those who have tried to help me above.

  • Having problems installing of software and drivers for HP Deskjet 9800

I uninstalled my HP Deskjet 9800 because I have too many problems with it. I use Windows XP.  I went to hp.com and download the software and drivers for this printer. The software and drivers simply go to my folder of the downloaded files. How can I install this software for my printer work? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Patricia

The downloaded file is a .zip or .exe.  Go to your download folder (right click on start > explore, click the Folders icon and navigate to your folder) and then double-click the downloaded file.

If it is a .zip file, it will create a folder.  Inside this folder is going to be a setup.exe file - double click on it.

If it's a .exe file, double-clicking on it to launch the installer.

You can do a fresh install if you feel that this is necessary.

You can try to go through this list as well...

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.

  • Problem installing new software

I just bought a HP e9180t with Vista Home Premium 64 - bit installed in it, it was delivered two days ago.  Bear with me here, because I'm close to being a computer illiterate.  I bought this configuration oriented video because I like to keep my skills of drivers on the rise of flight simulators.  I went to install Microsoft Flight Simulator X and thought that I installed it successfully.  He went through all the startup routines, product registration, etc., and he asked me if I wanted to start it right then and there.  I did and he stole successfully.  After I stopped it, I went it to be reactivated and noticed that he had there no icon on the desktop.  As it was not listed under "all programs" when the Start button has been pressed.  I then opened the function remove programs in the control panel and it's there.  That tells me that the program is installed in the computer.

I need the gifted people in Vista to tell me why there is no icon, and the program is not listed.  Right now, I can't run the program.  FWIW, I was able to successfully download Google Earth and the icon came with it.  He started very well.

Annother problem that may be related to this is that when I try to open the enamel .wmv files, I get a box that says one or more codecs is missing and the Windows Media Player cannot play this video.  This was happening with my old computer (I thought it was just something wrong with this computer) but it should not happen certainly not with the new.

I appreciate the responses that I receive and thank you in advance.

    TF

try to reinstall your microsoft X Flight Simulator...

and for the missing codec, click the link below and download the file, save it to your desktop and run the installation by opening... It's easy as 1 2 3... its a codec for vista... He plays all video formats...

Uninstalling an older version of Quicken and all of its subfolders, used a utility of Quicken for clean system, deleted and reinstalled all .net platforms, tried installing using a user admin account and used the two install mode selective and secure, all with the same results. Sorry, that I have no more insight to the problem install Quicken otherwise than to post in the forum of Quicken, be sure to include things that you've already tried.

As the msconfig error message is concerned, it's probably not related.  There is a service (IIRC, HP PML driver; see http://www.pchell.com/support/msconfig_access_denied_error.shtml) which causes this error message.
