  I'm relatively new to the whole community of smartphone, and I fear I actually broke my Blackberry!

  I noticed that e softwareupdated was available for my Blackberry, so I chose to download it. The problem is my phone kept freezing in the process, and I was getting a little impatient. Finally, my phone told me that there was not enough memory, so I should delete some applications to make room. So I selected a few to remove, and my phone froze AGAIN. Now, if at all, it has frozen or not, I'm not sure... Maybe I'm too impatient for the life of a smartphone.

  In any case, I decided to take out the battery to reset the phone, I have grown really tired and has to work in the morning, I so wanted to just turn my phone and turn it on again, put my wake up and go to sleep.   I recommend that you try to start safe mode:

  The only other way I know is do what you did, to connect to the computer... and during the connection, insert the battery and see if it recognizes the device.
