Problems downlaoding iTunes Version 9 - updates do not install it on error code 643 laptop. Details of the problem below

I had itunes installed on my laptop but have recently purchased an ipod touch which requires version 9 - but when I tried to install the new version I get the following message

"An error occurred during the installation of assembly"Microsoft.VC80.CRT, publicKeyToken is"1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b."
Type = "win32", version = "8.0.50727.762" processorArchitecture = "x 86".
See Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8oo7054F

I posted this on apple support and a very helpful gentleman has led me to my updates that fail with the error code 643...

He was advised to do a scan Avast which I did and discovered the following

CoreSrv.dll
HostIE.dll
HostOE.dll
SeekmoSA.exe
SeekmoSAAX.dll
SeekmoSAHook.dll
SRV.exe
ToolBar.dll

These files are on my drive C under Program Files and changed on 26/11/2007. The virus is the same on each of them:

Win32:adware - gen [adw]

I intalled a program of removal of malicious software that has removed these files, rebooted and tried to download itunes again, but got the same message.

I tried to re - install the updates failed this morning and this is the error I got

{7 B 298060-1128 - B7E8 - A06B - D6B9AF34537}. HRESULT: 0X8007054F

I tried to download the following:

Security for microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 SP2 KB936181 update

I'm running out of ideas and would really help - I'm travelling in a few weeks so buy the ipod touch and I want to just put the music until I leave.

Can anyone help?

Hi tashadeuk

Thank you for using the Microsoft Answers Forums!

We try several steps here to help you.

Step 1:

Download the update program "msxml4-KB936181 - enu.exe" on the Microsoft website, no Windows Update.

http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=021E12F5-CB46-43DF-A2B8-185639BA2807&displaylang=en

Run the program and delete all.

Restart, and then rerun the program again to install it.

Then, run the file of Windows Update for "Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 security".

Restart the computer.

Step 2:

Run the following Anti Virus program.

www.OneCare.live.com

Also, run your malware removal tool.

Step 3:

You can reset Windows Update refer to this link for the procedure.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

Alternatively, you can refer to this thread to get help:

    Hello

I look after 3 x Windows 2008 Standard Edition servers. Two of them to date very well and are up to date with updates. One of them however, which is identical in hardware to either of the other two and even fewer programs (we use it as a simple file server), fails on the last update released December 2015:

KB3099860 a security update for the .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 in Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2: 8 December 2015

I tried a variety of things after having studied the problem these past few days, including:

1 Uninstalling some updates before this one and see if they re - install. They are all re - install fine until I get to it where it fails with 8000FFFF error code so this leads me to believe that this is not in itself a problem with updates

including rename them the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution Windows Update and giving of right on drive C for "Network Services" - still does not work.

    6. as it is associated .NET I tried to repair .NET facilities that exist on the server (2, 3, 3.5 and and re-apply updates, but even once, fails on it.)

So, what should I do now? The behavior may suggest that it is that only this particular associate .NET that is a failure and that future ones will work, but it's "critical" and which relates to the .NET version which is initrinsic to the Windows 2008 operating system I think I should get it fixed :)

    Any thoughts?
