    • What were the changes made before the problem occurred?

You can try to restart the computer and check if it helps.

If above does not help, you can read the following steps to disable the active desktop on the computer and check:

  • Tecra M8-S8011X - a few problems after recovery

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help.
This has been driving me crazy for a few weeks now.

I have the above model and will give it to my cousin who start College and used the recovery DVDs created when I bought it all first to restore the system to a fresh out of the box state.

The installation went well, I was invited for two recovery DVDs. The DVD Apps & drivers has not been requested or necessary.

At the first boot of Windows XP but I had a few problems - every time Windows starts up I get a box with the title 'WARNING' and the message: ' cannot Access Volume Control! "my only choice is to hit"OK ".

In fact all of the sound card is not found at all - in device manager only codecs are listed under devices Audio Audio Realtek High definition or whatever it is supposed to be is not listed at all - no exclamation point, no Red Cross, the system can't even it's supposed to be there.

I tried to re - install the driver by downloading it from the site, tried DVD drivers, tried to install it manually too Toshiba and Apps... Nothing - the system never recognize it - so I have no sound.

Also first when Windows starts the "new hardware device" Assistant come to ask to install drivers for a "PCI memory controller" - I did this 'automatically' and manually and connected to the internet and it even manually to the file where I extracted the driver files for the Intel chipset (also downloaded from the page download driver model) - manually but it always ended said that he did find the correct drivers for the hardware...

Just for the heck of it I have re-directed the recovery discs from scratch in case something was wrong the first time - but it's the same exact results... I find myself with no noise, the error of the volume control and the list in Device Manager that the PCI memory controller cannot start becaue it doesn't have the correct drivers.

The only information listed under it is:
    Feature: unknown
    Manufacturer: unknown
Location: PCI Bus 2, device 0, function 0

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    Hello

All I think that this is not a European model of Toshiba and that is why I first know whether the Win XP should be preinstalled.
I think that the Vista must be preinstalled and that is why I am asking about the Win XP on this laptop however

    Just something about your problems;
The audio problem is known to me using Win XP.
Needs 2 Realtek sound card windows XP hotfixes/patches.
You need to first install the AUDIO KB888111 patch before KB835221 will follow you with the Realtek audio driver installation.

According to the memory controller PCI.
This feature is supported only by the Vista operating system and therefore the Win XP drivers are not available

    Welcome them

  • The urge to Ultrabook 6 problem with recovery after failure of hard drive (out of warranty)

    Hello

Please can someone tell me if it is true that to use HP factory recovery disks, hardware must be exactly the same as when purchased.

After hours wasted trying to get the recovery disks to work, I find myself with the same "failed to retrieve @ screen and some unnecessary lines of code."

In reading the various posts, it seems that I have a replacement for HP HARD drive of the same type that came with the computer. If this is the case, then the links on the support pages should say this before I have pay £39 for a set of disks.

For me, a hard drive is a hard drive. I replaced a drive fried (1 month out of warranty expires) with a good brand replacement, but larger. Disks won't load.

However, I could load W7 form an iso file and get that to work. I need the recovery because I do not know how to configure raid which allows the QuickStart on this laptop, and I don't have the time or no further inclination to make it work.

Partly a rant, sorry, but I'm wrong, and is there a solution?

    Concerning

I have seen others with this problem. Unfortunately, the only working solution, I remember the top was where a guy removed the player cache Msata, ran recovery then reinstalled.

On a single charge of Win 7 I think you could install the Intel Quick Start software, then use it to activate the quick start. I have more a laptop Win 7 with Msata to test, but I remember the software could be opened from the icon beside the system clock and used to toggle the quick start.

    Hello:

Make sure that you have nothing connected to the PC except the keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Did you add any major equipment such as a card reader or DVD video?

    Sometimes, which will cause problems.

You may need to make another set of discs. It is possible that they are defective.

If you can't get back to work and you want to install Windows 7, you can download a simplified without HP programs and go to the support of your PC and driver page and download all the drivers you need.

You will be able to get the programs supplied with the PC, however .

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

Select the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit download (it's what came with your PC's specifications).

Burn the ISO file to the slowest speed as possible with your DVD burning program. Make sure that you set to burn an ISO file, so the DVD is bootable.

Then use the product key from Microsoft on the computer case to activate windows 7.

  • Pavilion G7-1328dx: I have a problem with recovery disks

I have recived a message error (error bios 501) was one that says windows could not start at this point I did a system restore, it worked then it instaled updates and when I turned it off it seamed ok a few days elapsed before I go back and it didn't start so I tried to do the same restore point who had worked but im guess I chose the one bad because after that I could get in the bios for the test command and start system and info windows recovery tool not forbear even so I am really crazy and just ordered the HP recovery disks have tried a couple of times he says it didn't I saved a copy of the details , but I don't know how to open it so I can copy and past I also tried putting it in a windows disk because I realized that one problem I had is a new hard drive my boyfriend out the HDD without asking and wiped it and put it in his laptop, my friend was helping me with the laptop, but cannot stop now can someone please help

Assume your drive recovery is ongoing demand... because the 501 error has not might be related to your operating system... or the hard drive...

Maybe think I didn't read clearly on your description, but it seems that you already have recovery files broken, or the HARD drive is on form, no? Suggest that you call service help find someone help on data recovery. If the HARD drive has already been fomatted, it will take a few HARD drive recovery professional technician to do this action, using special equipment or tools. Sometimes it can get the restored data sometimes it breaks down, according to the State of the HARD drive. If he's already got formatt low level, it would be very unlikely to recover data... Then... you'd call better help service. Hope you can recover data.

If you have already saved data I just re - install the operating system. It is easier. Alternatively, you can call the service provide the recovery disc number (printed on the label on the disc) see it's the right disc for your device. And try to use the right disc for re-installing.

  • Pavilion M6-1045dx: problem of recovery media

I'm working on a cover of my laptop cousins.  The hard drive is dead and I had to order the recovery from HP media.  I just received the other day and started the recovery with a new hard drive.

Everything was fine until I got the second dvd.  Then he stops at 71% and tells me it's a read error and asks me to click OK to try again.  I'm doing and the message comes back on the same file (wish I had the name of file, but I turn off the laptop).

I retried a couple of times.  Same message.  I returned the drive 1 recovery.  Everything was fine until the second dvd again and stopped 71% on the same file.

I think that the media, that I received from HP has a problem.

How to send me the second dvd yet?

    Thank you.

I ask that your question is raised. A person of HP will soon contact you. Please be patient as it is a holiday season in the United States.

Ask to have the set of recovery disks replaced with HP usb recovery media. Usb support is much more reliable and more sustainable.

  • Satellite C655D - problem with recovery

    Hello
I have the Satellite C655D-S5515 with no additional DVD.
I want it back or fabric.
When, during boot press 0, not getting no RECOVERY option not only choose the operating system (Windows 7 only).
How can I make laptop recovery?

At first, I must say that since a long time, Toshiba and many other manufacturers of laptop also, doesn t offer disk facility with new laptops. Recovery image is saved on the HARD drive and the laptop owner should create backup recovery, recovery media creation. Its operation is clearly described in the document s user manuals.

In General, when your laptop has a factory settings and changes nothing, you should be able to begin the installation of HARD drive recovery. I don't know what the problem with your machine and what is the reason why this option is not available, but what you need now is the installation of recovery disc.

If you don't you should be able to order it. For making this visit https://support.toshiba.com/repair?orderType=SFF

    Good luck

  • Portege R500-12 s - problem of recovery (Boot from USB)

    Hello

I tried several days reinstall this laptop (Toshiba PORTÉGÉ R500-12 s). I reinstall drive, but it has no CD-ROM included, so I'm fighting with booting from the USB port, with my external hard drive. Those that the BIOS loads even boot from USB? Because there is no alternative USB inside the boot priority. I noticed that I can choose from, what I think is alternative of different startup in start up, when I press the F12 key. When I press the F12 key and choose USB, I just pup up to a similar cmd command line.

Reinstall is the only option because my laptop is super slow, and I have no restore file (CD) on my laptop

Ultimately is it possible to reinstall windows via USB boot, or do I have to buy an external CD-ROM drive? Which is the last thing I want to do. Advice or assistance on how I'm going to do this?

    Thanks in advance :-)

I put t know if this is possible, but if you can visit Toshiba service in your city, ask them for help. They have all the external devices and also external optical drive.
Buy a coffee and ask if they can install just image recovery using your recovery DVDs. I m that they will help you with this.

By the way: you can not install OS using the recovery saved on the HARD disk image. Laptop can't see it.
What you need is the optical disk drive.
Also, try to borrow a somewhere.

  • Z210: Bad support/problem with recovery of an Z210 system when changing the RAID configuration backup

My Z210 accompanies stripped Bay RAID-0, which currently consists of 2 x 1 TB HDD where the OS partition. I want to change that in RAID-1 mirror, but as the application of TSRI does no such RAID level migration, I thought I would try another approach.

As a solution, I'd do a backup using the Windows backup and restore application. Then, I would change the table using the Boot ROM TSRI before restoring the backup to this new array. But obviously backup 1.9 TB in a table of 932GB will not

So, to make a backup, I firstly disabled 'System Protection' and the file 'Page '. This allowed me to reduce the OS partition to about 50 GB using disk management. Then I re - activate 'System Protection' and the 'Page file' before making the backup and the creation of a system recovery disk. This resulted in a backup of 35 GB that I stocked up on a USB external drive. And now a backup of 35 GB can fit on my reconfigured 932GB RAID - 1 mirror

As such, I cold booted my system and during the boot process, I pressed CTRL-I to get the State of mind RAID Intel Boot ROM. you, CTRL-I've worked only if I started cold and the HP USB keyboard directly connected the first USB slot at the back of the system. The first USB slot is at the top left when you look at the back with the portrait of the tower. Connect the HP USB keyboard in USB port or in the hub of my Dell monitor does not allow me to access the ROM to Boot Intel RAID!

HP should really study this fault

In any case, when I could access the Intel RAID Boot ROM, I deleted the RAID-0 stripped existing and created a new RAID-1 mirror. Obviously, the process is destructive and wipe the BONES of the table but that's what my backup was to

Then I started on the Windows system recovery disk, plugged the USB external drive and proceeded to recover my system.

Everything worked as expected with the operating system partition uses about 50 GB. A simple trip to disk management enabled me to extend the volume to occupy the space allocated, as presented by the RAID-1 array. As such, I find myself with about 932 GB partition that appear in the windows disk management tool. After a check disk and reboot (which fixed some minor issues) all seemed well.

    But no, everything was fine

Well that ROM boot RAID Intel sees that a mirror RAID-1 about 932 GB and the operating system sees a partition about 932 GB, both as expected, demand for Intel RST in windows States the following:

I don't seem to have indication of what type of table, it is, an options to change the name of the table or an option to check the integrity of the array through the TSRI application in windows. If something is screwed

But after the update for the application of iRST version 10.6.0.1002 Intel (the newest HP of) version 11.2.0.1006 (version Intel got very practice), the question seems to correct itself. Now the RAID, Windows boot ROM and the request of TSRI in Windows all agree that the table is indeed a mirror RAID-1 932 GB.

I don't know what caused the problem, if it's related to something that was wrong with the process that I used, if she is simply resolved by reinstalling driver, or if this is a fix for a known issue that Intel has included in their questions later from the pilot.

But what I know is that Intel has resolved a number of issues in the version 12.9.0.1001 driver (which is the latest version for the Cougar Point chipsets) compared to the old driver version 10.6.0.1002 HP has on its support page for the Z210.

And HP seems unwavering in his lack of interest in the Intels 12.9.0.1001 test pilot and then make it available on its support page for what is a product still under warranty

It is a mediocre service if you ask me...

Some HP forum administrator or HP support person hide these forums should impose it in the HP management station and get it looked at. The Z210 is still under warranty for some customers and HP needs to pick up the latest drivers available to all suppliers, test them and then release them to their customers via the support page for this product. All the rest is little change us all.

I was able to resolve the application problem Intel RST by updating to the latest v11.2.0.1006 Intel driver but it has highlighted a few points that HP should address, see linked post above.

PS: Add this post so I can mark the thread as solved.

  • Problems of recovery with Satellite L300D

Hey guys, I was working this morning on my laptop until suddenly it crashed and closed. I thought it was nothing then I restarted and everything began to start. Windows Recovery skipped upward, so I chose to start windows normally thinking nothing of it. After waiting a few minutes on the loading screen, the laptop has restarted and brought me to the section of windows recovery.

From panic I have maintain F8 to take me to the advanced boot options to try safe mode. SafeMode bagan to load it all until he stopped at windows\system\drivers\Atipcie.sys then a flashed blue screen and the laptop itself restarted again.

I went ahead of the boot options to select repair your computer I thought I could just format using the rocovery disk partition. However the patition does not work properly just a control box with windows\system\drvload.exe written above. I have left this more than an hour, but nothing popped up.

I then downloaded an iso of Vista recovery disk. and he burned on a cd - r. Then I tried to boot from the CD player that worked until he was asked to choose an operating system that I didn't save.

After having messed around for about 4 hours now I don't really know what to try next. I have no recovery discs and I cannot yet access the desktop to make a. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your recovery image is messed up and you won't be able to use it. You also will be able to create recovery DVDs. This recovery must be created with the factory settings and I m really wondering why you didn't create it in the Council of last following Toshiba s (the s user manual).

    Now, you have two options:
    # For the original Toshiba Recovery disk in order for your laptop - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
    # To install the operating system using the original installation disc of Microsoft and later install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities, more

All of the drivers, the tools and the utilities that you can download from the Toshiba's support page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

If you have any other questions you are welcome.
