  Yesterday, I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 DVD and did not install anything other than the minimum Lenovo drivers/packages to date (updated system from Lenovo and Lenovo Solution Center). Windows had a notification message that I had to install a driver for the Ricoh media player and its link took me to the download page for Lenovo 2.24.18.01 - what X 230 X 220 and I saw the 2.25.18.01 version too so that, on the contrary (if I was going to risk using the X 230 that I might as well use later).   If it is recognized in safe mode you should perform a clean boot to try and isolated the program that is causing the problem.

  I solved the problem.  I have checked the connections to the motherboard and swapped USB1 and USB2 connections.  When I reconnected it everything the computer would not start.  I disconnected the connections usb case before and tried and it worked.  It seems that one of the two connections business is bad and the card reader to stop working at the origin.

  I have my SD properly installed host adapter (well looks like in Device Manager)
  But absolutely nothing happens when I insert an SD card.

  I have a Mass Storage Controller not properly installed and I think that's the reason why, but I can t find any drivers for it.

  On XP, everything works fine.
  Anyone know where to find the drivers for that?
  On the Vista from Toshiba driver page I can only find drivers SD utilities.

  Check if the scanner is working properly in Device Manager.

  To do this, follow these steps:

  a. on the desktop, press the Windows key + R and type devmgmt.msc and press enter to open the Device Manager.

  b. Expand human interface device and right click on the driver.

  c. select Properties , and then check to see if the device works properly under Device Status.

  Is there a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside, then it indicates that there are some problems with it.

  I suggest you to follow these steps to update the driver to scan finger print and check.

  a. press the Windows key + R and type devmgmt.msc and press enter.

  b. search for Devices of Interface and expand it.

  c. make a right click on the fingerprint scanner driver and Update driver software.
