PSU for Oracle Restart 11.2.0.1 AIX 6.1

Hi gurus,

I applied the patch 9655006 IM for autonomous, i, e Restart. The Oracle patch knew very well, but changed ownership on the grid directory and permissions. The grid under /u01/app/11.2.0/grid directory should be owned by root, instead after his property by grid patch now.

Let me breakdown the steps I made for the application of the patch.

(1) unlocked the Gate House as root using the command 'roothas.pl - unlock'
(2) patch applied PSU as user (grid) grid using opatch apply. The patch has been applied successfully.
(3) I tried to lock the gate of the House using comand "roothas.pl - patch".
command failed with error ' u01/app/11.2.0/grid/bin/crsctl[158]: /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/bin/crsctl.bin: cannot run.

(4) tried roll back the patch with the "rollback opatch-id 9655006" command failed with error copy doesn't have to ' / u01/app/11.2.0/grid/.patch_storage/9655006_Jul_6_2010_12_27_31/files/bin/oradnssd' to ' / u01/app/11.2.0/grid/bin/oradnssd'...

Gave 5) execute privilege recursively in GI-home / bin directory and restart Oracle stack came.

My question is how the privileges has changed and safe / is it true the environment now after patch? What would be the impact of this on my existing environment?

ls - ld /u01/app/11.2.0/grid
drwxr-xr-x 66 grid oinstall 4096 12 August at 11:24 /u01/app/11.2.0/grid

Please any entries would be really appreciated.

Thank you

Did you read the README in the Patch?

Automation for GI OPatch
The utility (opatch) must be performed by a user of the operating system (OS) with root privileges (usually root user), and must be run on each node in the cluster.

Patch Oracle Restart home
Patch before the Oracle home Restart, hold the Restart Oracle stack upward and the conduct.
To patch the Restart Oracle home, as an administrative user (usually the root user) run a command in the following format:
#opatch auto - oh

Then, with root privileges opatch unlock and relock the GRID_HOME automatically.

This fix should be applied using an administrative user (usually the root user).

My question is how the privileges has changed and safe / is it true the environment now after patch? What would be the impact of this on my existing environment?

Did you backup of grid home before patch?

Home of Oracle backup can be taken using any recommended method. You can use any tool such as zip, tar and cpio to compress the Oracle home. It is strongly recommended to make a backup binaries home Oracle while applying the patch Set (s) or patches. You should also back up the Central inventory where Oracle home is installed, while taking backup of the Oracle home.

If you have a backup of Oracle Home you can restore all the files in the HOME of GRID (Oracle Restart) and apply the patch using root user.

  • Why Linux is preferred for Oracle

Why Linux is preferred for Oracle?

I helped clients running databases Oracle of small, medium and large scale (from 500 MB to 10 TB total segment size) on a variety of platforms Unix, Linux and Windows environments.

The primary consideration for platform in 90% of these configurations is what works the best with the application solution / they run on their databases. I am passionate about Linux for small and deployments of medium sizes due to the following:

    1. relatively stable (no need to worry about the restart mentioned scenario earlier)
2 takes in charge virtually all Oracle database architectures you might need (CCR, single instance, warehouse, etc.)
    3. support of OS relatively cheap (especially if you go with Oracles OEL), own can operate on mid-range servers
    4. allows you to stuff more "fancy" like virtualization of servers, clustering OS filesystems in cluster, integration in Windows domains, etc if you need competent of your availability/recovery solutions data disaster.

Of course, all this assumes there been no egregious mistake you make when you configure the server ;) This is usually the point 3 which marks better with it management, but it may be a learning curve important for companies that might be more familiar with the Microsoft platforms, for example.

Personally, RHEL or OEL is my platform of choice for small to medium deployments that don't have no platform restrictions, as well as to run software such as Oracle Grid Control (and soon Cloud Control)

But really, the question of the preference really depends on what you need your database to / support.

  • Previous versions 11.2 database managed by Oracle Restart

    Hello

    SAGNA: AIX 6100-06

Recently installed on the same system and user:
    * Oracle Database 11.2.0.2 Grid infrastructure from stand-alone server (Oracle Restart).
    * Oracle Database 10g R2 (10.2.0.5)
    * Oracle Database 11g R1 (11.1.0.7)
    * Oracle Database 11g R2 (11.2.0.2)

    Some questions have been raised.

    In the documentation says:

Please note that Oracle Restart can manage existing resources of 11.2 and from where you can install the Oracle network infrastructure only for existing database 11.2. However, versions of Oracle database before 11.2 can coexist on the same server without managed by Oracle Restart.

This means that DBCA (10g House) will not add the database in Oracle restart?

    I did some tests:

I created a database using DBCA at 10 G of the database was created successfully with the ASM. But the database has not been added in Oracle Restart.

I added manually in Oracle 10g database restart using srvctl. And it works perfectly.

Start and stopped at the database using srvctl including dependence diskgroup.

I forced an ABEND in my database by killing the process LGWR Oracle Restart restart my database automatically.

I know there is a difference between work and be certified.

Management of Oracle database before 11.2 on Oracle Restart is certified or not?

    Hello

Management of Oracle database before 11.2 on Oracle Restart is certified or not?

    Not certified.

    See this note:

    * 11.2 Restart oracle cannot handle alone 10.1.x instances [954552.1 ID] *.

    Oracle makes it quite clear:

Do not use 'Oracle Restart' to manage Oracle 11.2 - no specific resources (database instances, etc.).

  • Is it possible to install oracle fail-safe-kind-of (active-passive) SAN replication for oracle?

    Dear Experts,

Is it possible to configure replication of SAN (active-passive) integrated security for oracle for oracle?

    • Sites are geographically remote.

What should be the strategy to have DR site get a few seconds, if the primary site failed for some reason any

    • Daily incremental backup with RMAN. And archive backup runs for every 1 minutes
    • To have the site of DR upward and running within 60 seconds, it still requires too much time to restore the database on remote site and have archive APPLIED setpoint

I have no option to implement oracle Data Guard as its very expensive.

  • Path of the environments for Oracle EBS (Profile)

I have a question about setting up my profile for Oracle EBS. I just installed Oracle EBS on 2 nodes. Now I have to run the commands manually instead of being able to type them on the command line. An example:

Instead of typing adstpall.sh, I have to do $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME/adstpall.sh.

Also with the automatic configuration service. I have to go on the dbTier in $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/bin and run adconfig.sh and I have to go on the appsTier in $INST_TOP/admin/scripts and run adautocfg.sh but I want to be able to type adautocfg.sh anywhere and it will work

There are also things as adpatch and adadmin, etc., I want to be able to run

I don't know that there are several environment files in Oracle EBS. Anyone can guide me please to put up my profile so that I can use one of these commands from anywhere in the file system. I've never had to do before. I know they have to be in my .bash_profile, but I don't know what should go and what should not go. Please help me in this regard.

    Thank you

    -Change the .bash_profile

-Add the following entry to the file:

  • ODI 12 - problem with LKM SQL for Oracle

    Hi again,

Three days ago, that I asked about the problem with the data types of data warehouses in models that were missing. After you apply the ideas suggested by Rita (thank you very much ) I got from their work.

But after that, we came across a new problem. When you run a mapping (Oracle for Oracle databases), it failed on the second stage - ' "work table create. "When we checked the generated code was something like this: '(" CREATE TABLE < work_table_name >). None of the names of columns or data types have been described in parentheses and as expected, the ODI execution error was "invalid identifier". It seems that API odiRef.getColList(params)%> does not work. I tried loading using LKM Oracle Oracle (DB LINK) but once again the columns are missing in the generated script.

I have to mention the master and work repositories are different databases from Oracle and ODI Agent is not installed because of some problems.

We are still beginners of ODI and would appreciate any help from more experienced guy (or other beginners).

    Thank you in advance.

Just by chance, we found the soluton today!

The reason of missing generated code was that the description of the types of data was not entirely cofigured.

We found that the fields "create table syntax" and "'syntax of data accessible in writing' in each type of data in the topology definition were empty." After filling them, the generation of the script is running properly.

Before that we had problems with missing data types in models and we realized the reverse engineering of the types of data, but obviously it is insufficient.

Thanks to all those who participated in the discussion and tried to help us!

  • How can we export itno csv data file for oracle forms

    Hello

How can we export itno csv data file for oracle forms

For example. I have the block called A.what never the data displayed on a block, when I click on a button, displays the block data, must be exported to the csv file.

My application is running on the unix operating system.

    Please help on this.

First of all.  What is your version of forms (for example: 11.1.2.2.0 not 11g).  Finally, who will use the .csv file?  If it is a user on their client computer - CLIENT_TEXT_IO TEXT_IO or WebUtil are standard packages used to export data to a file of Oracle Forms.

The amount of data to be exported?  If you export only a couple hundred lines - export of Froms will be OK.  If you export more lines than that (300 + lines) then the export will be extremely slow to your username.  Keep in mind that forms is not designed to perform data exports - there are better tools available for this...
