Put Hibernate & standby does not work on Portege 2000

I recently bought a refurbished Portege 2000. It did come with any documentation or Toshiba software installed. I grabbed what I thought good to the download section of the support page and that you have installed.

I have the Toshiba console works, the utility of accessibility and performance of the Intel thingy. Energy saving works now and so do all the functions of the shortcut out of standby and standby key extended (FN + F3/F4).

Have I missed something in the download section or y at - it a particular order, to which I should install?

Thanks in anticipation,
Coastal

Hello

As a first step, we should clear the issue of operating system, I assume you are using Win XP.
Am I wrong? Have you installed the electricity saving for Win XP right?
Two different Power saver utilities are available on the page. 5.04.00 and 5.01.00.
I advise to use the last being!

The other FN keys work correctly and therefore, it seems that the important applications, such as the common modules and Hotkey utility have been installed correctly.

I think that it s just a matter of adjustment. Hibernation is disabled by default.
If you want to use the FN + F4 you must first enable it in settings of standby power.
The same should be done with standby mode which can be used with FN + F3

    Hi-

I removed the Toshiba W98SE and installed Win 2000 (new installation). I managed to put it on the audio driver using downloads on your website (and it works).

I do a test on the dial installation upward and that you have installed the modem also since your website (Conexant Soft K56 Data, Fax PCI Modem). This is intended for W98SE but microsoft message is

The port looks ok. Please advise - is it the right driver?

    Thank you.

A Windows 98 driver does not work on Windows 2000. Therefore, you need a new driver for Windows 2000.

I have checked the Toshiba site but your model no available Windows 2000 driver exists.
I think you have to search the site of the factory of the modem. Maybe you can find a driver or another portable model that has the same modem.

    Good luck!

I think you should check if the device supports the digitizer and if so, you will need to calibrate the pen and touch settings.

  • Touchpad does not work on Portege R100

    Hello

I have recently boght a Toshiba Portege R100 without any installation CD Windows XP Home Edition worked fine but the touchpad is not.

I installed additional drivers of Toshiba. Now, I'm able to adapt to all kinds of things about the Touchpad, but still it does not work. I was also running Knoppix 5.2 since July 2007. Same problem with Linux.

Have I not a faulty laptop? How will I know, please?

Have you tested the touchpad with Windows XP?
You connected an external USB mouse and you have the same problem?

Normally the touchpad should work without a driver, they are part of the operating system.
You can disable/enable it with FN + F9.
I'm not sure, but you can also enable/disable the touchpad in the BIOS.

It could be that the touchpad is defective, but ask an ASP for help. They can check the necessary parts for laptop and Exchange.

  • Satellite L40 - Sleed and standby does not work correctly

I have a portable Satellite L40 and it worked correctly until now. I turn and after I have put on standby (stand-by) mode; When I want to use my system, so to get that back to normal (I press the turn power button to exit the mode "standby" button), Windows Vista 32-bit restarts - it is not back to the moment I left it before the "sleep mode".

Therefore, restarting Windows Vista 32-bit, and the screen "Windows has been disabled incorrect" appears instead to return to the configuration of the system that let him before sleep / standby mode.

What can I do to fix this and make "sleep" mode works correctly?

    Hello!

In your case, I'd do a BIOS update. You can search for updates on the Toshiba site
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

You should also look into the mangment of power. Here, you configure what happened when you close the screen, press the power button and so far.

  • Network does not work after Windows 2000 SP4 P2V

It has been a roller coaster get this virtualized machine.

A little history: this machine is Windows 2000 SP 4 with update Rollup 1. After you install the Update Rollup 1, virtualization tried it and it gets to 97% and then I get the message error "vmware agent has encountered an error. When I try to start the machine, I get a BSOD with error inaccessible_boot_device.

After reading some discussions fo I found a solution of reconfiguing the virtual machine then it will start. So now, I have a virtual machine that will start.

Now my problem is that networks do not work. I removed the network card, has added a new, tried static and dhcp, through the Add/Remove programs and uninstalled all the devices HP and Compaq, went into Device Manager and deleted all drivers HP and Compaq or component, rebooted countless times and I am still ending up with no network connectivity.

The network card on the computer virtual says it is connected and he says is to receive, but not send. It is not pulling a DHCP address and a static address gets no where also.

I have more than 50 virtual machines so I know this isn't a problem with my network, it must be on the virtual machine itself. I don't know what else to try, and I'm open to suggestions.

    Thank you!

  • Satellite C75 - A - auto sleep (standby) does not work

    Hello

My Toshiba SATELLITE C75 - A will not automatically in standby mode (standby) after some time of inactivity.
Eve works well when I trigger it manually with the start menu and when I do not use the mouse or keyboard for a while, the screen turns off. But neither sleep nor put into hibernation is turned on after the interval set in the energy saving plan.

    When I run
    powercfg with fluo compact
    on the console I get

"PCI Express Active State Power Management (ASPM) has been disabled due to incompatibility with the hardware on this computer."

    My BIOS is updated.
I would be really grateful for any advice.

    Hello

Have you tried to activate the Hibernate mode and standby manually by using the powercfg command?

Here is a list of possible options regarding the powercfg command:
    [Powercfg command-line options | http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/cc748940]

For example with the command * powercfg-h on * turns the hibernation feature on or off.
You can use also returns a list of devices that support hibernation or sleep

By the way: what system are you using?

In addition, you can try to activate or disable the PCIe Link State Power Management in Windows

Go to control panel-> Power Options-> advanced power plan settings
Here, scroll down and expand PCI Express and Link State Power Management.

Currently setting (without battery) or on battery and sector, open the drop-down menu, select Off or ON and click OK.
If you select No, there is no energy savings, and current runs regardless of which state that the laptop is in. (depending on whether your laptop is plugged or not).
On battery: Off = PCI Express even will communicate using the power of the battery.
Plugged in: Off = PCI Express communicates when it is connected as well.

  • Re: Button on the upper right does not work on Portege R500

    Hello

At the top right of my keyboard (Portege R500) theres a button that shows a place in the foreground with a Sun in the background.

I guess it is a kind of glare/brightness button to be used outdoors.
    However pressing this does nothing.

Can anyone suggest what's this button and how do I make it work?

    See you soon,.
    H

I think you're talking about the outdoor switch.

This backlight button on / off turns on and off the display backlight s.

Are you sure that you do not notice any difference this button?

If you turn off the back light outside in good weather, you can use the computer for an extended period.

Maybe I m wrong, but usually he should be able to configure this button in the power OS Options.

  • FN + F5 to change device display does not work on Portege R600

    Portege R600-11 b Win 7 ultimate
I wanted to show my photos on the TV using the vga output. Connected everyting, pressed FN + F5 and watch LCD dialog box. Support again, still lcd. tried the keys of direction, no joy, still lcd.

plugged my trusty R100 instead of the R600 and bingo, works very well

I'm sure this used to work on the R600 90%. (Actually, what I remember is that it just worked first time with no keyboard at all operations).

    Someone suggest anything happy?

It seems that your TV is not recognized correctly.
Did you use FN + F5 option in the past?
Are you using the original pre-installed OS that you got with your laptop Portege?

  • Standby does not work on satellite

    Hello
I think I have the same problem that TSC, the function of sleep is not enabled on my laptop. When I click, start, stop - the standby key is "grey", IE. I can't click on it, I can only click on stop or restart.
In the toshiba power saver options, the wait cursor is also "grey" in each profile, so I can't activate it.

«In normal power saving options, clicking on the Advanced tab is not raise an option ' ' activate Standby ".» All that there is the options of what to get I hit the power button or close the lid. On closing the cover option (which is used to put my laptop on standby) it only has now an option, "do nothing". It is not yet all that exists.

    Please please can someone help?
My laptop is overheating and the fan made such a noise if I just leave it on, and I'm tired of having to launch and shut down five times a day.

    Thanks in advance!
    Jenna

    Hello Jenna

I assume that your laptop is not preinstalled with recovery media just with your own installation of the OS. Am I wrong?

As far as I know after sleep button graphics driver installation must be enabled. Hibernation (support) option must be enabled manually, but waiting has to be there.

I put t know which satellite you have, but of course, the device must be cleaned properly. Remove the unit from the dust will be able to take a breath and cooling fan will not run constantly.

Check background processes - which can prevent the machine from sleep mode.
Check the scheduled tasks - that can bring the computer from sleep mode
Make sure that the cat is not walking on the keyboard to put the machine out of sleep. = check the BIOS settings to make sure that other devices are not out the machine in standby (modem/NIC/mouse, etc)
