Qosmio G40: HD - DVD-> replacement of BluRay player

Hello

Because of the latest events and Toshiba agreeing that he has lost the format war, I wonder if it is possible to replace this HD DVD player very quickly unusable to something which will be able to read/write the future movies WITHOUT losing the warranty (G40).

He's the boyfriend of damage:(mais je présume qu'il n'y a rien à voir.)
The Qosmio laptop was equipped with this HD DVD player and if you want to replace the drive, so you must do this to you own hand
I think that the warranty did not cover these replacements, but that's my own opinion. If you have contacted Toshiab for details pelase post is here. . I am very interesting about this!

  • Qosmio G40-108-dvd/video playback quality

You just bought the Qosmio G40 - 108 loaded with Vista Ultimate. EAD all reports and went for the superb view report. I am very disappointed by the quality of playback on DVD and avi (divX, Xvid, h264). The colors are bland bland and not all that sharp.

Compared to my Toshiba 3 year, mid-range machine running Windows XP Home edition, it is pretty poor. I did not test anything.

Am I missing something or is it the fault of Vista. I tried to load Windows XP Home edition, but could not because it came with the message "blocked" since WXP is a downgrade. Can anyone help? Please, I beg you.

    Hello James

I'm really surprised that your question is marked as replied. You have the solution to the problem described? Please let us know everything is OK now and I hope that you will be able to watch DVDs.

  • Qosmio G40: HD DVD player black bars are gray

Hello, when I play a movie HD DVDV in my new G40 black is gray, you see very well in the black bars that are on the buttom to the top of the screen, but the black of the diffuse autour is ok. How can I better. I'm sure this isn't the HD DVD film itself. Someone has an idea (and is it clear what I mean?

    Thanks for the replies!

Here's a suggestion. Go to the Nvidia Control Panel, choose video and television and then videocolors (or something like that; I have a Dutch version of Vista). We must lower the brightness (IE up to 40-45%) and high-contrast (IE 55-60%)

    Success!

    Hi mate

    Please take a look here:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//thread.jspa?MessageID=184685

The thread is on the same theme.
It seems that this is not a full version but only an update.
You will need to install the HD for Vista drive and then update Windows 7

  • Qosmio G40-108: bad quality video/DVD playback

I have new Qosmio G40 108 loaded with Vista Ultimate and am very disappointed with the quality of video/DVD playback compared to the older machines loaded with XP. Seems insipid depth bland, not really the color and not too strong. I tried another laptop of another manufacturer and pretty much the same thing!

What is Vista's fault? You want to try XP but blocks me when I boot with XP disc in. I would like to run the two to see if there is a difference. (Sorry to all if this appears as message repeated hurry but bad touches earlier - starting!)

I don't have a notebook, G40 but I use the Vista OS and I must say that the video and the quality of the DVDs is great!
Don't know what DVD software you use, but I use the WinDVD and Windows Media Player. Two applications provide the same quality.

    > I tried another laptop of another manufacturer and pretty much the same thing!
According to your own statement I don't think that there is something wrong with the Qosmio G40 laptop because you have the same opinion on the other non-toshiba computer.

PS; I wonder why you start always different threads on the same topic:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//message.jspa?MessageID=107067#107067

However, if you wish, you can test the XP if the same phenomenon occurs with other OS.

This forum is not a trading market!

I imagine that for the moment the G40 recovery CD is not available and the authorized service provider ordered the warehouse of head of Toshiba Recovery CD.
    It takes a little longer.

But if you want you can install the operating system from the original CD of Microsoft Windows and all the necessary drivers Toshiba you will find on the European driver Toshiba page!

  • Try to connect my Sony PVR/DTT player to my Qosmio G40

I'm trying to connect my Sony PVR/DTT player to my Qosmio G40 laptop via windows media player.
Once I have a picture on the S-Vidoe option in the set up TV signal and select next it say s it can not find the IR control cable and does not allow me to complete the whole upward.

What looks like the cable and where can I get a?. Thanks for your help.

Do you mean the control cable infrared?
AFAIK the G40 comes with different parts.
One of the parties should be the infrared emitter cable.

    It should looks like this:
    [transmitter infrared cable. | http://cache3.smarthome.com/images/8170s_n.jpg]

It is necessary if the decoders are no longer responds to IR commands sent from Media Center or if the laptop running MCE does not support the IR transmitter.

Qosmio G40 does not recognize CD/DVD, or sometimes it reads some DVD or CD. But it does not burn.
Once I managed to burn, but could not be able to read the CD.

All the world is facing this problem?
    What would be your suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    This isn't a real problem.
These problems can occur using incompatible media or not fully supported.
I had this problem too. You wouldn't believe how many CD or DVD I used to know what media would be fine.

Finally I went to TDK's and for a long time I m really satisfied.

By the way; User manual you should provide some useful details on the compatible media. Check also.

  • Signal (PAL 60) record with the Qosmio G40 Line In (Capture) Option

I'm in Australia - and I have a lot of NTSC video tapes I want to MPEG...

These bands play very well on all the TVs/LCD TV in the House.

Qosmio G40 seems to have problems with PAL 60 signal that sends my VHS player...

My VHS/DVD from Toshiba drive is to convert NTSC to PAL 60 signal - as this VHS player bought in Australia - this seems to be the Australian standard bought a VHS/DVD player.

There is no option on the VHS player to the NTSC signal... I tried another VHS player - and it gives me the same output PAL 60, this player also could leave the NTSC signal...

So I wonder if the Qosmio G40 is able to record the signal PAL 60 - maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere...

I use Ulead movie maker software, which is supplied with the machine... but I don't see any options on the support PAL 60...
Maybe the TV card installed in the machine does not support PAL 60 - I can't find any info about this...

Maybe I need to use a software of different capture which will support PAL 60 options...
Or maybe I just buy a VHS of America drive, and qosmio q40 will capture the NTSC image very well... (I already have a few products from 110V at home)

    Any thoughts?

    Hello

I'm not sure if this is possible, but you can check the BIOS settings, if there is an option that would allows you to change settings of NTCS/PAL.

    Check it out

  • Qosmio G40-108 - prevent recovery of product disc ask to insert the disc

I have a Qosmio G40-108 and it works fine even if the disc is not read discs any longer, perhaps because of a motherboard failure that I replace the disk with a new of brans and it still does not work, but my problem is the following... I have the product recovery disc, I tried to copy it to a USB key and reinstall the OS from USB and the start of software loading a page with the logo Toshiba asking to insert the recovery disk into drive F: I can't use is more like it's broken. How can I prevent the disc from asking to insert the disk into drive F:? There are lines on the laptop recovery disk to install the USB without using the disc?

I managed to install a generic Windows Vista 32 bit downloaded from a Web site and my serial key works with it, but I really want to reinstall the original software
P.S. Recovery of product is for Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and just in case there is also a serial number of the disk GMR400766ENG

I don't have any experience with this, but I found an interesting article on creating recovery USB - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD4103KB0000R01.htm

Maybe you'll be able to create the USB stick recovery. Check it out.
