Question of fundamental change first Elements 7 for DV

Hi all

I have PE7, a quad-core Q6600 and Windows 7 64-bit.

I captured about 6 hours of Standard definition a film DV 16:9 of the church ceremony.  Video was taken of an old Pana PV-GS320.

The Church wants a dynamic video to be produced from the captured sequences (60 minutes more than in length).  I intend to do a lot of different effects including semi-transparent overlay video, picture in picture, inserting pictures and audio inputing the video of the ceremony.  The final product will be a standard definition DVD disc.

I did some research about how the DV is interlaced and output to DVD must be interlaced (unless I am mistaken in this conclusion, let me know).  I also know that doing heavy editing with interlaced images (slowing/speeding up footage, zoom in and out, rotation, several overlay, etc.) may create flicker and "mouse teeth" in the video.  I also searched through these forums and continue to run in HD questions/solutions...  I guess I asking an old question that has probably been answered a long time ago when a DV tape ruled the world.

QUESTION 1:

So, if I may ask, in order to obtain the best results, prepare my raw images in PE7 before editing it by (1) deinterlace it? (2) exporting as progressive? (3) both? (4) leave it alone and start to change there? or (5) if I'm missing another option?

QUESTION 2:

Also, what the resolution would be preferable to import photos into the project?

I know that the best way to work with any video must make as small as possible changes to it, but it's inevitable in my case.  No one wants to attend 6 hours of video...

Thank you very much for reading my questions and I really hope that you have time to answer!  Thanks for any information!  I really appreciate it!

-141rockwell

Relax, rockwell. You do all this unnecessarily complicated.

If you capture your video to DV - AVI via a FireWire connection, you will not get "mouse teeth" in your final product. The program is designed for working with interlaced video and create interlaced DVDs. The results should look almost as good as the original film. You can't damage video with "excessive change.

Just trust the program to deal with technical issues. You can concentrate on editing.

In regards to the photos you want to add, you will get the best results if they are not larger than 1000 x 750 pixels in size, by the frequently asked questions to the right of the forum.

  • Problems to export HD of first Elements 9 for Vimeo video (program plant or video is fuzzy)

I have a 10-minute wedding video I am trying to export from Adobe first Elements 9 for download on vimeo. I followed the instructions in this video: export to upload to Vimeo with Adobe Premiere Elements on Vimeo for how to proceed. The first time I followed the instructions, the video file that results is fuzzy and blurry, not at all like HD video, I could see in the program prior to export. Since then, I tried to export several times with different parameters, and every time the program crashes when the video is approximately 95% complete. How can I correct this situation? It is a wedding video that I made for a paying customer who would like their video on vimeo as soon as possible.

Sorry about that. I thought at first Elements 10, when you posted clearly whether you work with 9.0.

It would seem that we are OK with the project preset

    NTSC

    Digital SLR [email protected]

for your import AVCHD or H.264.mov.

In the Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 share/calculation/QuickTime

    = NTSC 16:9 DV presets

and as for the customization tab Advanced Settings button/video

I'd go with the frame width 1920, frame height 1080

and I would increase the flow according to the guidelines of Vimeo

    Guidelines of compression on Vimeo

Even if you were to stay at 1280 x 720, I think that your flow of 5000 Kbps setting is too low. If you stay with 1280 x 720, I would

    Watch the kbit/10,000s to the value ' limit bitrate to. " If you go with 1920 x 1080, I would look at 10 000 to 20 000 Kbps, probably closer to 20 000 kbit/s.

First determine if these bitrate increases have no effect on what you are looking for. Then, we will focus on the size of the file. Are limited to a given file size?

Superior throughput, more quality, more the size of the file. You need to find a good compromise between bitrate, file size and quality.

As a point of reference, which is the bitrate of the video that you import into the project? I saw a Canon T2i video sample that used something like 42 Mbit/s (megabits per second), in contrast to 5000 kbps (kilobits per second), which would be of 5 Mbps.

    Please review and consider.

    Thank you.

Unless you have the information in front of you, please download and install the video properties MediaInfo reading program to determine the frequency of images or your video frame rates. Cell phone video is often characterized in variable rate which can (not always) create problems to get imported, video audio out of sync...

MediaInfo - download reviews and free software - CNET Download.com

Be on guard for any unwanted alongs carry with the MediaInfo. Excellent program, but those carry alongs can be a major nuisance. The reading of this program will tell constant compared to variable rate.

Also check the display to confirm that you are working with progressive video and not interlaced.

If variable rate, the next step would be to take video in brake hand and export it as H.264.mp4 with a rate constant, not variable. Use the median between the min and max.

We will follow to your results.

  • First Elements 9 for Mac: import misfortunes of format clip

So, is the Mac of PrEl 9 version simply impossible to import video clips in .wmv or .avi format, or is there some codecs or modules I can install for this?

The Mac version absolutely change DV - AVI. In fact, he modifies them natively - as if they were DV - MOV.

But I doubt that your editing software is create DV - AVI. It's probably using some codec owner.

There is a program called G-Spot for the PC that will show you your view codec information. There is also a program for Mac that will do this for free, but I don't know the name of it.

If you can find it, and we can determine the codec of your notice, we may be able to figure out what to do with it or how to convert an editable file.

In the meantime, you can try to put it in Premiere Elements, place it on your timeline, and computer/sharing/MOV by using the built-in DV. It can convert the file into something that you can use in a publishing project.

  • First Elements 11 - Renaissance of the PC or buy a new one?

I am tutoring a gentleman on how to use first elements 11 for a major project which includes 6 minutes slideshow narrated and 1 and a half hours of video high-definition 1920 x 1080.

It will come out his project on DVD, so I implemented a project of widescreen PAL 720 x 576. This will allow to zoom in the subjects and the interviewer for interest without losing quality.

I do not have the specifications of the computer in front of me at the moment, but from memory, they are fairly close to the plug according to the http://www.adobe.com/au/products/premiere-elements/tech-specs.html and the operating system is Windows XP.

It is on a very tight budget and the problem we have is that the preview is painfully trolling, jerky and even after an eternity made is still very inadequate. It is very difficult to get done editing.

I can recommend that he buy a newer and more powerful computer, but I know that money is very tight right now.

I'm just wondering, with all the experience you guys have, if you think he should get a satisfactory result on the machine there and it would be interesting my do a reinstall complete operating system and re - install only necessary programs on his machine.

If the basic specifications are not good enough, then I'll recommend a new computer, but if not, if he should get a better experience, I will rebuild the current for a nominal cost.

Would be very grateful for your opinions.

PS: The computer is about 5 years old and did not have a lot of hard use, but also has never been properly maintained, and I know I can improve its performance, just a question of who will be sufficient for the first elements 11.

I agree with Steve, it would be useful to know a little more about computer the gentleman.

For editing AVCHD material, here's my "minimum specs.', for the computer:

    1. Intel i5 CPU (faster, better)
    2. OS Win7-64
    3. Installed RAM 8GB min.
    4. 2 physical 7200 RPM HDD (hard disk drives) - one for the OS and programs (can be smaller) and the media and projects (must be big enough)
    5. nVidia or AMD/ATI GPU w / 1 GB of VRAM (this recommendation is more for support for the pilot and also provide VRAM dedicated, so that the video card does not need to share the system installed RAM)

While you can get with less, a computer of this type would allow more than an adequate return for editing.

I also know that a "regular" here, John T. Smith, built a computer for his wife and managed to get the right computer at a value price. I hope he can also comment.

    Good luck

  • First Elements 11 Workspace customization

I've recently updated first Elements 9 for first 11 elements, and I don't like some of the new features of the layout, but I wish I could customize the presentation...

I have the preview window before and at the Center, but I don't like how the active project window remains open & covers it.

Yes, is there). A way to pass the preview screen on the right, or (B). The project window active automatic closing once I slipped my clip out of it?

And there at - it a way to keep the effects and transitions open in their own window or box?

I know that 9 had elements where you can drag-and - drop panels where you want... I believe the setting to be able to do this "display me anchor headers... This option is available in 11?

And I really don't like how the "Transitional adjustments" (see picture) remains open after that I slipped and fell to a transition where I want to! It asks you where you want lined up, but that's not why I the ability to drag to where I want to? Or it allows you to set the duration, but I already have my default duration defined in my settings, and I can click and drag the ends to adapt...!

Is there a way to make this box does not pop up?

Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

    Lauren

    adobe question.jpg<--(go!)

To customize the workspace that you have version 11, the only way is to separate the timeline of the rest of the interface by selecting the option monitor two.

If you have suggestions for review or add new features in version 12, you should file a new request for functionality with Adobe.

  • First elements 11 Mac trial expires the first launch

    Hello

I downloaded the trail of Adobe first Elements 11 for Mac today while I'm looking for an alternative to iMovie.

I installed it as soon as it was over and everything went well.  I did the party registration of trail and created and Adobe account but when first elements 11 started, I got a pop-up saying my trial has expired and I only have it a left launch!  What?  Is it really only a single launch trial or something was twisted?

I like the look of it until now, but come on, surely I can get more than a single launch of the trial?

Using Mac OSX 10.8.2 and never tried a trail from Adobe before, so it's not a legacy install or anything like that.

    QUESTION:

Adobe first Elements 13 is listed as $79.99 (alone) or WITH Adobe Photoshop elements 13 for $119.99 (for both). I bought 13 items first by itself for $79.99.   Now, I realize that I need the 13 elements of Photoshop also.My question is: can I put the $40 more (purchase price of $119.99 in combination) to buy the 13 elements of Photoshop? Or do I have to pay the price of $79.99 (yet) to buy the 13 elements of Photoshop? There is no option to upgrade on the website of the $40 more purchase price (which would be equivalent to the original price of combination $119.99) after I bought the first 13 items only ($79.99).

    gt40john

This isn't Adobe. Instead essentially a user to user forum.

Suppose you bought the items 13 as a download from Adobe first.

Adobe sells more than 13 Photoshop or Premiere elements 13 elements. He sells only the latest version now (v14).

If you bought the first 13 elements download Adobe over the last 30 days, you should be able to request a return/refund from Adobe. I do not know how he would deal with an Exchange because it sells more than 13 - May 14 deal might be involved? Just in case you are eligible, Contact Customer Care

And, if you bought elsewhere (from an authorized dealer), you are governed by the policy of return/refund/exchange of the authorized dealer, not Adobe direct.

But if you are not within 30 days of the purchase, you'll probably eventually find a dealer authorized to buy Photoshop elements 13, although it is still available.

Many scenarios here, but you should have business with Adobe on this if it goes back to the purchase of Adobe. If this isn't a direct purchase from Adobe, your fate is up to the dealer.

  • First Elements - pre-sales questions

Hello, I plan to buy Premiere Elements as there is now the discount when I buy with Photoshop Elements (which I will probably also need). From what I've seen so far first looks very good to me (compared to Corel VideoStudio Pro that I use now) but I have not much time to try until the extraordinary offer ends and now I'm also waiting to receive money for some previous projects I did so I would need to buy maybe later and still get the discount available. Also, I wonder what the functional difference between Premiere Pro and Premiere Elements. And is there a version of Premiere Pro that is not part of the cloud creative but one installation that I pay for once and just get the software? And another question: if I buy your software for a PC, can I get a chance to use it on a Mac if I choose to? Thanks for the replies.

When you purchase the product, you can use the activation even on a Mac or a PC.

First elements and Premiere Pro are very very different, so there is no comparison. Premiere Pro is a professional software and includes features for editing professional video formats such as high level editing tools and the ability to interface with programs like Photoshop Pro, and after effects CC. Premiere Elements is an amateur and semi-pro software that was designed to be easy to use and change formats such as AVCHD and video Smartphone.

If you want to see Premiere Elements in action, I have an 8 part Basic Training tutorial series free which should give you a nice overview.

  • Cheap camcorder for first Elements 8 Pocket camcorder

    Hi all

I am a teacher in a school and recently fell into a part of the money for my computer lab. I plan to buy 16 copies of first elements 8 academic (I assume it will behave exactly as the retail sector) and a number of video cameras for students.

My first thought was to order 16 flip camera mino for ease of use and cheap price, but after some research, I discovered that they do not play nice with first.

So, I bring you my question here. I am looking for a device similar to the Flip (or a little more exotic if absolutely necessary) for students to use with first Elements 8. Must not use tape, because we simply do not have time to capture in this way, and video files, it creates must be directly compatible with first.

Maybe it's a chimera, but looks like there should be something out there...

Thanks in advance for the help! =)

    Justin

Justin, a digital camera like the Canon Powershot A490 might do the trick. The important part is to ensure that you have a good codec installed on your computer which can properly handle the files generated by the camera. The Canon Powershot I use standard def records video in Motion-JPEG (like the A490) and, with a codec I bought, can import the files quickly in Premiere Elements without any file conversion and change without any problem.

You could try to download the first Elements 8 trial version and buy a camera where the store allows refunds, and then test to see if the installation works for you before committing to buy a large number of PRE and cameras. People here could help you find a codec that * should * work. If things do not work as you like it, then you are not just any money.

With many cameras digital, like mine, the zoom during video shooting feature is digital and optical, but I guess that the course you want to teach is interested more in the video real editing and less with a very high quality image.
