Question on the 2600 Aironet access point

Hello

I reviewing on Aironet 2600 accesspoints.

There are two model numbers, for based controller CAP2600 and SAP2600 for standalone/independent.

My question is now, when I buy a SAP2600 (= independent model), can I later convert it to run on a WLC and vice versa as independent when necessary?

Thanks in advance,

Kind regards

The WRT is configured in Bridge mode and all can see the Internet, but the iPod can not see the PC, unless they are connected on the subnet of the router.

I think that in this configuration the WRT does DHCP and creates a subnet and then NAT for them to get access to the outside. So the inside can out, but outside may not participate. This means that the applications hosted on the PC iPod cannot interact with the WiFi iPod.

I want the WRT to act as a bridge and be transparent to the local network & PCs.

This seems to be a simple installation, but I couldn't sort through the DMZ, router, and help the other possible approaches?

The answer is 'no '. As far as Linksys are concerned, a router is a router and an access point is an access point, it is because they have two very different functions.

Hi all, sorry for such a newbie question, I would like to ask something about the elements of access after im read the sample application blackberry on blackberry html5 webwork site and im find access element script like below

The * character is a wildcard character, which means that your application can access the resources of any URI, not just another specific.

  • IPsec Site to Site and the question of the IPsec remote access

Our remote access IPsec 3DES 168 bit encrption has the value

If we want to allow a remote user to get out of a tunnel to another site must be so 3DES encryption for the Tunnel?

This tunnel is currently defined by AES.

If I understand your question the answer is this:

The VPN client will connect to the ASA with any encryption method, he chose.

If the VPN client then runs through a tunnel from Site to Site to another location, it uses the encryption method specified in the tunnel from Site to Site.

This is because as the settings for the client VPN applies only when he puts an end VPN on the ASA.

When the customer traffic, passes through a different tunnel, the settings for this tunnel applies.

  • Multiple SSID on AIR-SAP702I-E-K9 (700 Aironet Access Point)?

    Hello community

I wonder if it is possible to simultaneously run multiple SSID (actually 3) on a single Cisco AIR-SAP702I-E-K9, which is a standalone AccessPoint (AP). Each SSID should be linked to a different VIRTUAL LAN. Or do I need another model or even an AccessPoint driven by the controller to run multiple SSID on different VLANS to the same AP?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards
    Adrian

    Hi Adrien,.

Yes, you can have multiple ssid on the AP standalone. Each SSID must be mapped to a VLAN different.

  • WAP200 Wireless - G Rangebooster POE Access Point

I have a few questions about the foregoing, called Access Point.

I searched the site of Linksys and has failed to locate the manual for it.

So I wanted to ask if someone can give me the link to the manual is?

Also I wanted to ask you whether the above-named Access Point is Automatic Configuration of the button that

would allow him to detect and use the optimum depending on the network parameters (provided that it is

connected with other linksys products)?  Since it is an access point what review / limitations exist

in case that the bridge isn't a linksys one?

Q: well the question is if I connect to an Access Point (say WAP54G) in Access Point mode to a switch that allow a Wireless Client to connect to the network.

A: Yes, that would allow a wireless client to connect to the network. Deal with the AP as a "wireless switch". If you have DHCP running on the network, the DHCP information will also provide computers wireless connecting to the AP.

Q: the second question is how can I connect a gateway (for example WAG200G) so more that the entire network to the Internet?

A: you can connect the WAG200G to the switch. Your installation will be: WAG200G - switch - AP))) (((Wireless PC

  • With the help of new access points with old WLC 4100; LWAPP layer 2 switching 3-tier

    Hi all

We currently use two solutions Wiresless LAN - a 10 AP1230 access points-based autonomous (5 years) and a solution based on a Cisco WLC 4100 (4112, running 3.2) with 12 AP1010 LWAPP access points.

First thing, we are considering to replace the stand-alone solution with the WLC one. However, I'm not sure if we can use the new access points such as the LAP1041N or the LAP1252G with our current 4100 WLC. Access reported data sheets 'Cisco Unified Wireless Network Software Release 7.0 or later version' 'software '. Does this mean that these access points can only be used with controllers running 7.0 or later?

If we are unable to use the new access points with our current WLC and need to buy a new controller: can we use access points AP1010 current with a new WLC as the Cisco 4402?

Second thing, it is that we want to expand the networks configured on the WLC 4100 to another site that is connected via VPN wireless. Wireless Setup guide indicates that the LWAPP mode can be changed from Layer 2 to 3 layers so that the access points can be configured with an IP address, which allows you to place access points basically anywhere as long as IP connectivity exists between the AP and the WLC.

Y does it as described in a document with the change of mode LWAPP layer 2 to 3 layers? Or ist just the following steps (if I understand correctly):

-Change the Mode of Transport LWAPP on the controller of layer 2 to 3 layers

-Creation of a PA-manager interface with an IP address in the same subnet as the management interface (tried that, without changing LWAPP mode transport first and not was not possible - error)

    With regard to different sites:

-Configure option DHCP 43 with the IP address of the WLC or DNS with CISCO-LWAPP - CONTROLLER.localdomain

-Make sure that the interface ap - manager can reach points on the different site

Is it really just as simple as that? All information about it is very appreciated!

/ edit: I would also like to know if the 1260 series access point are backward compatible with 802. 11B. Whereas it is stated in 1040 and 1250 for example series data sheets, it is not particularly mentioned in 1260 data sheet.

    Thank you

    Michael

Well, let's start with the simple question/answer

    With regard to different sites:

-Configure option DHCP 43 with the IP address of the WLC or DNS with CISCO-LWAPP - CONTROLLER.localdomain

-Make sure that the interface ap - manager can reach points on the different site

Yes, it's as simple as that.

As for other issues, looks like you would be better served with a forklift upgrade.  New controllers and new AP.

Now, the AP 1230/1240/1250. all work on the 4.2, 1140 code starts with 5.2 and 1040/3500/1260 are 7.0

The AP 1000 series is not supported after 4.2 code.

Refer to here for the complete list of the AP and taken codes supported:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn7.0.html#wp610751

From what I see, the 4100 is not supported after the train of 3.2.

So, it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the upgrade.  If you are looking for a 80.211n support, you really want to be 5.2 or better, we had some problems with MRR + 40 Mhz channels, 4.2, 5 GHz band only.

    Hi Manas,

What is the brand and model of the Wireless Router/Access Point?

Given that the issue has not persisted in Windows 7, there is a chance that the wireless router/Access Point is not compatible with Windows 8.

  • Power level of the access point

I am running 7.0.164 WCS and series access point 1130 firmware 7.0.98.0.

I get a lot of complains about the students that their laptops do not get 5 bars signals.   They receive at least 1 or 2 bars with being disconnect the frequency.

Problem is that the 2 closest access points are power TX 2 level.   For the purpose of the test, I increase the level of tx power to 8 on access points and signals 5 portable bars, see the.

The dorm is 3 (2 rooms / 2 persons per room more bedroom bathroom and living room) suites by the wings. The walls are concrete.

I was told that using the custom for the TX power level setting is not recommended.

What are the solution to this problem?    Use the custom setting or what?

    Allen,

Your description of the problem that is absurd, especially considering that a power of 8 level is lower than the power level 2.

    If you do a ' show config ap 802. 11A '

    It will show you this

    TX power
Number of supported power levels... 5
TX 1 power level... 11 dBm
Power TX 2 level... 8 dBm
Power TX 3 level... 5 dBm
TX 4 power level... 2 dBm
    TX Power Level 5 dBm...-1
    TX power setting... Automatic
    Current Tx power level... 5

    If you do a ' show config ap 802. 11 b '

    It will show you this

    TX power
Number of supported power levels... 8
TX 1 power level... 20 dBm
Power TX 2 level... 17 dBm
Power TX 3 level... 14 dBm
TX 4 power level... 11 dBm
Power TX 5 level... 8 dBm
TX 6 power level... 5 dBm
TX 7 power level... 2 dBm
    TX Power Level 8...-1 dBm
    TX power setting... Automatic
    Current Tx power level... 8

So based on the fact that you said that Power Level 8 gives you a stronger signal is suspicious to say the least.

  • Tunnel traffic through the Access Point

    I "tunnelenabled" in the parameters of Access Points of JSON: true;

And on the Access Point associated connection servers config guide recommends not allowing the tunneling.

The end result is that the traffic is going through the Access Point and not crossing does not connect to the server. The client wants to keep the absolute minimum for the ports open between the objects, so I want to tunnel traffic from the Access Points through the connection to the server, and then click the virtual and physical machines internal who installed the agent to view. Even when I check the options of tunnel on the login server it always appears as if traffic is bypassing the broker for the connections and go straight to the agents.

What the configuration change that I do have all the traffic goes through the access points and associated connection servers?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion-

    J

After a lot of trial and error reduced us to certificates that we created for Access Points. HTML5 Blast Bridge did not have other names of the object in the cert. Once we gave them a cert that had the URL and not the SAN (subject alternative names) with the real access Point server names that Blast started working again.

  • E3000 as or to get a better access point?

Hello, I installed an EA8500 router as my main 'brain' The entire House is wired ethernet. I have a House of very good size, so upstairs in my room... the signal of the iphone is not the best... I had a previous firmware Linksys E3000 current tomato from my router laying around... so I have set up to work as a WIRED Access Point and it works fine.

Now my question is... I would purchase say... An AC Wireless extender/access point? Is there a different big an E3000 and a real access point/range extender wireless?

    Thank you all

Hi manofice. If you have a lot of wireless devices that are capable AC and having a challenge with the connection to the EA8500, then Yes, it may be preferable to get an AC range extender. But if only the iPhone was having a problem with wireless connectivity and you mentioned adding the E3000 as access point is working fine, then it is not necessary to get an Extender for the moment.

    Hope that helps.

  • Predownload image of access points

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on the process of predownload.

According to the WLC configuration guide:

    1. download the new image for the WLC.

    2. change the image again to the backup image. (> startup config backup)

    3 predownload new image for access points > ap image config predownload {primary | backup} {ap_name | all}

Here I do not know whether to use primary or backup. Is - this view of the PA or WLC.

    I mean

the main use that means that the main image WLC is downloaded (which is actually the existing image as a result of step 2)

    or

the primary use means any image I download becomes the main image on the AP

    4 swap primary and secondary image on AP > config ap image swap {ap_name | all}

    5. make sure that all the APs did with the predownload

    6. system HH image reset {swap | non-swap} reset-aps [save-config]

Do not know what exactly the swap image is here. If one swaps the image on the AP only or on the controller as well?

I feel, if I followed the guide that my WLC will have the new code as backup and after reset system using the APs swap keyword will return with the new code.

    Am I missing something?

    Thank you

    Krisztián

    Hi John,.

the WLC both the AP will review the main image to be the newly uploaded image.

    Current/running will be the backup.

Step 2, you mentioned below (startup config backup) just means that if you restart the WLC he starts from the backup image (which is the 'old' in this case).

You can check what is the active (running) and the following boot image on the WLC with the command "See the boot", for example:

(Cisco Controller) > see the boot
Main boot image... 7.0.98.0 (default) (active)
    Backup boot image... 6.0.199.0

Then, after using the command 'boot backup config' this will become:

(Cisco Controller) > see the boot
    Main boot image... 7.0.98.0 (active)
    Backup boot image... (default) 6.0.199.0

Thus, 'start-up' config backup will not backup image to become main... the WLC will start just from the backup image.

On the command 'config ap image predownload' on the WLC, the main / backup is from the point of view WLC:

(Cisco Controller) > predownload config ap image?

Predownload primary an image to a Cisco of the main image of the controller access point.

Predownload backup image to a backup image of the controller Cisco access point.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards
