Satellite P20 DVD ROM drive may not be recognized

Hello

I just replaced my DVD ROM drive, but I had a problem.
It is a new DVD rom drive I ordered at TOSHIBA also.
It could not be detected by Windows:
-Tried to check on Device Manager, not detected
-Tried to reload the driver, the same problem
Note:
Whenever I tried to re - insert the disc, the blue light in the control panel of my P20 beds (I understand, which means that the P20 detects the drive) but I don't understand, is that why Windows XP does not detect it or it does not alarm or error messages.

Any help?

Thank you

Hello

Try to use the Add Hardware option.
This question is very strange, but I read on some sites, sometimes a whole new OS install CD player, brings back to life.

  • CD/DVD-Rom drive does not not on Equium A100

I installed a webcam, and it made my DVD - rom drive does not not with all drives. I uninstalled everything to do with the webcam and it still does not work. Can someone help me solve this problem without using the recovery disk of the product came with my laptop?

I had this problem before, but I didn't the first time, it's the webcam that has caused the problem. It s webcam trust wb - 1400T. I had to use the product recovery disc and he had a lot of hassle to install all my programs again and this time I'm in the middle of exams and can't get it all done in time for my exams, as I have vital work on here I have to do.

.. .Please help me... I think it is the driver, but I don't know how to fix it.

    Hi mate

    > I installed a webcam, and it made my DVD - rom drive does not not with all drives
To be honest I have never seen that the webcam may have a negative influence on the internal CD/DVD drive.
I see really no connection between the webcam and ODD... very strange
Do you get any error messages?

    Anyway, in my opinion, you should try these solution ideas;

    (1) remove the drive from the Device Manager CD/DVD and restart the laptop. After restarting again the operating system should recognize the STRANGE and should re-install the drivers.

    2) access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    .. then restart the laptop.

    (3) download and install the tool freeware "CCleaner". This tool repairs registry and solves several problems in System.

If this does not work, then the new installation of the OS would be wise to check if the problem could be related to a software problem.

CD-ROM/DVD-rom drives will not play discs?... tried to be updated no joy... I tried the uninstall then re install just says code 39 error?. any suggestions?

Try following the steps under "Windows XP" in the article following the MS KB:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/982116

These measures, to remove the UpperFilters and LowerFilters, values if they exist, in the registry key named can help.

Create a System Restore Point beforehand and restart the computer later.

  • DVD - Rom drive does not

I just had my Dell Inspiron 1318 in the shop for service, and when she came back I had to reinstall a lot of my old software.

The Sony Optiarc DVD +-RW AD - 7640A DVD - ROM drive in my computer didn't have to be replaced at the shop and worked well for the first hours of operation of the system. I had reinstalled Office ' 03 and Roxio DVD burning software and it would try to install something else when the drive has stopped working.

I also run updates of the system before you attempt the installation of Office 2003, etcetera.

When I insert a disc in the drive, it produces noises as if she is trying to run or to read the CD before ejecting again.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2, almost completely updated.

I tried a system restore to the last point of operation disc drive, and then I tried to update my drivers. When he said that I had the more recent/better driver, I uninstalled the device and rebooted. Finally, I tried the Mr. Fix - it on the Microsoft Web site. Nothing has worked.

Anyone happen to know what is the problem? I need to have this drive works in short order and I really do not have to return the system to the shop for repairs more literally the day after getting it.

    Hello

The Roxio probably malfunctioning filters and if so the 1st steps here that will correct.
If they do not solve the problem, then work your way through the rest as needed.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

    Hello

It is not uncommon, in fact more expected than a question as this affects both drives.

19 code means there is a driver conflict such as two devices attempt to use the same resources.

Having too many CD/DVD programs can cause strange problems, especially if they're loading of parts of them.
Selves at the start because they will be competing for resources. This does not mean that this problem was caused by
These however is a possibility depending on which and how many you have installed.

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and the
correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

You can probably find more info here and maybe even the exact registry settings for your
CD/DVD drive someone with the same model.

Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)
nothing change) - find the DevManView device and then make a right click on it free in RegEdit.

DevManView - free - an alternative to the standard Windows Device Manager, which displays
all devices and their properties in flat table, instead of the tree viewer

If the led does not illuminate, the reader is disconnected or broken. In this case, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the mounting of the CD/DVD drive system.

If the led does not blink, you can try the following:

    (a) open my computer

    (b) right click on the CD/DVD drive

    (c) click on Eject and check if the CD/DVD drive eject

  • Satellite P30 - DVD-RAM drive will not write DVD

I have a Satellite P30 - 145 running XP Home Edition with a carpet * a reader of DVD-RAM UJ - 831S. I am able to read and write CDs and read DVDs, but am unable to write DVD. In 'My Computer', the drive is marked as a DVD - RAM drive, but if I insert a DVD r or DVD R, the label changes to CD drive, and I am not able to format the drive, I just inserted.
Clues as to what is happening and what I can do about it?

    Hello

Since when is this problem here? Is your unit pre-installed with your own operating system or with the recovery image? DVD - RAM Driver Software V3.1.0.0 is also pre-installed correctly? Burning application you are using?

Try to remove the drive from Device Manager, reboot the device and check if the drive is recognized correctly again. As far as I know that your device comes with fixed burner DVD Super Multi (Double Layer) and you should be able to create all formats.

    What is DVD format?

  • If a disk was writable and rewritable, could it be a dvd rom drive or not?

Please help, I want to play the Sims 3 so bad and it's a dvd - rom game.

    Hi Tesga,

Try to check by clicking on Start-> settings-> Control Panel-> system-> hardware-> Device Manager.

Under the CDC/CD ROM drive, you'll get your drive listed.

    I hope this helps.
