HL-DT-ST DVD - RAM GSA - H55L [CD-ROM drive] cannot detect, read, play CDs or DVDs.

Running Windows XP Home Edition SP3 (build 2600) with LG HL-DT-ST DVD - RAM GSA-H55L [CD-ROM drive]. Updated all drivers and ran all the diagnostics; still only detect, read, or play CD or DVD.  Installed and run program Microsoft ATS Fix It - has not fixed the problem. CARPET directed me to this site.

I had the system 4 years and have used the drive to read and burn many CD / DVD, so he's worked in the past.  Thank you very much in advance for any help you can provide.  I appreciate your time and your consideration.  MS

    How can I fix it?

Step 1: Please do all the below even if you did before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

  • D/DVD-ROM drive cannot read the CD or DVD

    Hello

I use Windows Vista on my laptop. Its quite some time that I did not use my DVD/CD drive. Today, I try to use but cannot read any CD or DVD. I was trying to solve the problem of updating the drive, but still cannot fix. Can I use Microsoft FIX IT microsoft support but the problem still there.

Something to say: windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration (in the registry) information is incomplete or damage (Code 19).

Click on 'Search the soluton' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.
I did it but the result is COULD NOT LOAD DRIVER SOFTWARE.

Please advise what should I do?

    Thank you!

    Hello

It is very rare for the methods in the 1st answer above does not fix a Code 19.

You might have a disk problem as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD and CD burn and)
DVD playback). Therefore, it is not unusual for 1 or 2 rooms with not so work that others do it properly.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are some registry entries
that the troubleshooter does not, and those who "could" be the cause.

Check with your system manufacturer Maker and device for possible firmware updates and the good
    Your player registry entries.

Here are the keys in my opinion, are those in question - for the reader of CD/DVD subkeys of course that he will be
other subkeys in these keys. Be sure to ask specific keys involved as well as the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

  • my HL-DT-ST DVD + - RW - GSA - H31 SCSI CD-ROM drive doesn't read/burn discs...

... It is installed in an Inspiron 531 s (OEM 2007) I think I've tried almost everything - the drivers are up to date, I have uninstalled & reinstalled it, physically, too. Everything seems OK, but nothing works, except that I can open the tray put a disc in and it closes and disc, CD, CD, CD - R, DVD, it is there and nothing really happens, except a window comes up with 'Please insert a disc '. I used it very heavy and burned about 1000 to 1100 drives, until I started having problems with blank CD - Rs. I tried to use different brands of blank discs, but it is eventually died. In addition, an icon 'Remove hardware safely' is in my toolbar in the right hand with my time and network icons. I am running Vista Home Premium OS.

If the laser in the burner burned?

What can or should I replace it with?

You have confirmed the player is bad and must be replaced.

  • DVD / CD-Rom drive will not read disks.

    I don't know if it's a hardware problem or a software problem.

When I put a disc in, it runs for 1-2 seconds, stops, turns for 1-2 seconds, stops, turns for like 1-2 seconds, stops (model repeats 3 times at once) and then silence.

After trying several times to put in and taking the disc, it runs at full speed and I knew that it is a success that it's reading the disc to replay the video. But why it fails then back working again constantly. Solution?

Also, when my computer is in "sleep" and I wake up, disk she could read his way 'sleep' cannot be detected anymore. Solution?

The drive model is HP DVD Ram UJ8A2.

I tried all the solutions software. None of them worked. I have actually used a piece of tissue paper to gently clean the DVD / CD lens a few times and now it works fine. I think the lens must attend a gentle cleaning. Resolved issues.

  • DVD / CD ROM Drive - cannot load the drivers

My DVD / CD ROM has stoppped working.  Replaced by a new, but get this error in Device Manager

New CD-ROM/CD-RW, or DVD-ROM, etc., usually never come from the factory with

the parameters of the right stem. Take the device, look at the back, place the jumper pin plastic.

set to slave or master, if possible, install it on another cable IDE, set another pin device

According to the needs. XP will reinstall at startup.

In addition, most of these devices is "firmware" updates, go to his web site from mfg & install it

  • CD-ROM/DVD-Rom drive not detected

I have a Toshiba Satellite l300d with an OS Vista Home premium. It worked fine for 3 years, but last week, I can't find the cd drive in 'my computer' and am unable to read DVDs, games, etc.

The Toshiba MK1652GSK ATA device appears in Device Manager and I've updated the driver as well as to try to uninstall and reinstall. However, in disk management that only the c drive and e drive (data) are listed with another disk without a name I can't access, when I right click above just said 'help '.
I tried to delete upper and lower filters with regedit and similar solutions with registry entries. Mr Fixit shows that the problem is that the driver is not detected, but does not bring a solution.
I have idea about what to do next really, any help?

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

    2. what exactly happens when you try to read the disc?
