  • Satellite A200 - 1 CG PSAE3E: BIOS corrupted - solved with the crisis recovery disk

    Hi all

I would like to report on the success of the recovery of corrupted bios on my Satellite A200 - 1 CG (PSAE3E).
Like many others I downloaded a latest bios update for my laptop and it started under Windows 7 64-bit.

In fact I only needs of some practical information from the bios update tool, but the update started automatically
without a question. :( After several blocks has been updated the progress bar stuck a heterocycle.
In 2 minutes, I got only the system completely frozen. I turned off the system manually, it works again, and...
my laptop was completely dead: screen etc black and of course, I wasn't able to boot in Windows 7.

So for those who only plans to update the bios: DO NOT update the BIOS ON the SATELLITE UNDER WINDOWS! THE UPDATE MAY BE STUCK!

I searched on the web has found a solution. With a specially created disk and external usb floppy drive, the problem can be solved then

I tried the recovery procedure described here, but it did not help. Earlier versions of tool phlash16.exe
where it is not able to restore the bios. I heard that the disk was read constantly for about 2 minutes. After the recommended 5 min break, I changed the power of and then turned back on it and... I had the same darkness of the screen as before :(

The strange thing is that the latest version of the tool phlash16.exe also did not work, but it was different from the earlier version. If I used the older version of the tool, the disk has been read for about 2 min, if used the latest version of the disk was read for about 10 seconds. It was for me, as the bios was not simply read by the tool.

So I searched and searched again. Then I found it: it takes phlash.ini to the phlash16.exe!
I downloaded an old bios (something from 2007) for an unknown Toshiba laptop to the Toshiba site. I renamed both the archive and found a phlash.ini inside. I changed only the second line in the ini file of... = 0 to... = 1 (I guess).

Then I formatted the diskette under dos, copied the minidos.sys he phlash16.exe (latest version), a new bios for my laptop in BIOS. WPH (I guess) and after a phlash.ini has been fixed. After that, I started the crisis recovery makeboot.exe utility (found on the site, which I mentioned earlier). After that, I have the phone in recovery mode (Fn + B) bootet and... It worked like a charm. So, the important thing was the phlash.ini!

So for those who has the same problem with corrupt bios, I've had: it's phlash.ini and the latest version of the tool phlash16.exe.
All other information can be retrieved on the web site, which I mentioned earlier. The described method works with the phoenix bios!

    So good Look

    Kind regards
    Igor

    Thanks for the friend information
But to be honest, the procedure of BIOS is always a sensitive issue and I would be always careful in using such things.

When even good to know that your device is running again!

  • Windows 7 recovery disks are corrupt

Let me start by saying, the advice of HP have no help and I take the blame at their feet.  Hard drive of my laptop HP G71 is eventually died.  When I bought the laptop, it came installed with Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit.  I followed the instructions during the installation and created a set of recovery disks.  I was only allowed to make ONE set.  I backed up my data religiously.  When the hard drive is dead, I bought a new used my recovery disks in the Recovery Manager about 30 times.  Each disc would go for about 20 minutes, and then I would ask for the next record.  In the end, remove screen said all the disks and reboot to the recovery to continue the restoration of the system.  After the restart, message "no boot device", then reinserted first recovery disc and it began all over again.  The people of HP forum said my a set of disks has been altered.  Now I ask people, how to get back my FULL windows 7?  I guess all computers with pre-installed software should come with the drives, but they are no longer.  Furthermore, I'll send this to my G71 using a repair/reinstall dvd that I bought on ebay.  Repair/reinstallation asked my microsoft product key that I got off the sticker on the bottom of my G71 and repair/reinstall it over.  It has worked very well, but it is a watered-down version of Home premium extremely rich, that I used to have, and more this morning for the first time, I received a message that says "the key to Windows 7 Home Premium is not valid for activation".  I want to just my old windows 7 back.

    Hi Kathy,

There is a possibility that you correctly typed your Windows 7 activation key. We suggest you try to re - enter your product key to activate your new Windows 7.

To activate your Windows 7 operating system, follow the steps below:

    1. Click the Start button, right click on computer, select Properties, and then click Activate Windows now.
    2. Select Activate Windows online now (internet connection is required and you may be prompted for an admin password confirm your choice.)
    3. Type your Windows 7 product key when you are prompted, select Next, and then follow the instructions.

For more information about how to activate Windows 7, click here.

If this does not resolve your problem, you can contact our Office of response for in-depth assistance.

Let us know how it goes.

  • Qosmio G30 - recovery disk to unzip files, but nothing happens

I have a Qosmio G30 running Windows XP MCE. Windows has somehow was corrupt and laptop could only be started in safe mode. I backed up all my data but when I run the restore disc, it gets to 100%, but then nothing else happens. It says to eject the disc, but then just restarts automatically and that's all. I can't even open in safe mode now because it indicates that the installation is incomplete and I must rerun the recovery. I tried this but nothing helped.

I'm stuck because now I can not open in safe mode.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

Have you tested what happens with Microsoft XP disc?
In addition, I would try to format the HARD drive first. Therefore, you can use a Microsoft disc to wipe the entire HARD disk. After that try the recovery disk again.

  • 1 DVD 5 disk corruption

After many attempts with the laptop HP Recovery Manager (which only allows a sequence/run), I managed to complete a series of 5 DVDs of recovery disks. However, # 1 (of 5, being a DVD-R) DVD is partially illegible and thus corrupted.

Other (4-5 on 5) were burned on DVD + 5, which proved much more reliable first time.

How do I re - energize a repetition of Recovery Manager? HP should give me permission to do... for some reason any?

    OS = Windows 8.1, incidentally.

    Hey EddyAB,

No worries over information I sooner I can isolate what is happening and why. Unfortunately, Microsoft allows only 1 set of discs to do. You don't have the chance to create a repair disk. You have the option to purchase these HP discs. You also have the possibility to download from the sites of third parties for this search on Google.

You could look at this link to create a USB stick recovery.

    Hope this information is useful.

    Thank you.

  • Cannot reformat using the Toshiba Recovery disk

    Hello
I'm not sure whether or not my question was published by third parties. Please let me know if someone had posted this.
    Here's my problem.

I put the recovery CD in the CD-ROM drive. Then I restart my laptop and press F12 and select boot from the CD-ROM. Then I come to a black screen where it says 'Windows 98...'

After some time, the failure message appear.

My laptop was with Windows XP and I don't know why the word 'Windows 98' appears. After failing, I try to go to the window and double-click the CD-ROM Setup and he says not can read any of the files on CD. The CD is used to reformat the laptop before.

    Is it the corrupt CD?

    Hey mate,

First of all, it would be interesting to know what laptop you have. Maybe it has been bundled with Windows 98 recovery disk I put t know.

Theoretically, it could be a problem with the CD. Try another disc and see what happens.

My laptop said that a file has been corrupted, so it stopped working. So I deleted my os now, it is said to put in the recovery disk, but I lost my recovery disc

    Please help me thanks

    Hi 00iqra00,

If your recovery disk is lost, you can only contact an authorized service provider and request a new one. Maybe they always an or you can order it directly from Toshiba

An alternative you can install Windows on a drive of Microsoft. After that, download and install all the drivers from the Toshiba site.

My thoughs is that the image is corrupt.

The error that you declare, is a fault with the Vista disk image cannot be applied to the hard drive.

Which you used 2 recovery discs of different product, which would indicate that there is not support for product recovery but a defective hard drive, possibly bad sectors on the hard disk.

If the laptop is in it duration of warranty, then give Toshiba a call for the book on deposit for a repair of the equipment.

  • Satellite L500 - 19 X - cannot use the recovery disk

Well I had this phone two days ago and he used once after installing fire fox and my mobile to wide band of the driver and going to start and find it of going to happen.

I tried SafeMode (three) and repair and all I got was a screen black with the cursor upward where it should have been a language screen (I used the recovery disc supplied with the notebook) so anyway, after finding out that I wasn't going to be able to fix it, I tried to install , but of course, this does not work, or so I put my XP 64 bit OS on and has perfectly worked, then I updated (using my own upgrade windows 7) and that works fine no problem, so I tried again with the original windows 7 comes pre-installed on the hard drive on the laptop and everything went find until she starts the installation of the driver or updates (I not 100% sure on this but it or after the installation of face recognition.

Then it stops it of self down and boots back up to automatically restart and asking me if I want to repair due to a bad start, so I did the repair boots back to the top and still says I need to fix and can't find anything wrong and carries on in this circle.

Now, I was told it could be the registry or there is a problem of graphics, I get pretty tired of having to install/reinstall/format this laptop.

So if there is anyone who knows of what is wrong or what to do or whether it should be returned to fix, which will be very useful.

    I thank everyone in advance.

    Happy new year :)

    Hello

Well, I think that it of really difficult to say what is the reason. Maybe the recovery disk is noisy or the files corrupted it.

At the moment, I can t imagine what it s a hardware problem because other windows drive work properly.

In your case, I would try to install Windows 7 from a Microsoft disc and then see what happens. If it works properly and that you can install all drivers & tools you need to order a new drive Toshiba Recovery directly.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A200 - recovery disk problems

I just bought the (all new store big tech) Satellite A200 for a few months and not used because I was on business trip to take. This weekend, I opened it up and running for a while.

After that I read the manual and found that I need to create a recovery from the tools provided disk. However, the problem start here:

    1. when I click on "Recovery Disc Creator", a message is display "no HDD Recovery area!, the toshiba Recovery Disc creator cannot be launched."

2 then I call center service support and to inform that there is a problem with the "recovery disk creator" and I have to retrieve the laptop using the hard drive partition recovery (waiting when 0 turning on the system) and the next step is complete:
    a. the laptop's boot in the recovery screen function.
    b. when I try to "restore windows PC" (option 3), it is display and error message on file not found.
    c. when I try to click on "restoring the recovery disk" (option 5), it asks me to put in the recovery disk which I do not have?

NOTE: I'm sure that the hidden recovery partition is therre. 1.46 GB. There is no way that I can access the hidden partition from a normal windows vista screen (without drive letter).

Then, I called the support center again (now what difference person support) and to inform you that:

    1. my recovery partition is corrupted and I need to get the recovery disk again (which I did not), it's going to cost me AUD $66 (I got from HP one and cost me AUD $15 and will be free if I come and Pick-up) for administrative costs. And it is a procedure.

    2. I explain to the support staff that it is brand new in the box laptop and I consider it as defective on arrival (DOA or FOA.

    3. I also ask what causes the problem and has been a consultant with the following reason:
    a. I may have deleted the partition accident (impossible because I still can start on the recovery partition, but can not recovery which all).
    b. There may be a virus infect in my laptop which was remove my recovery file in the hidden partition (ridiculous, you can delete some files in the drive on which you cannot yet access).
    c. I should create a recovery disc when the first time LAPTOP computer service. Which it is recommended, I get a question that if I do not, or I forgot to do so, this means that the software will automatically delete the system restore image file? I have no answer for that.

State (when I try to post this messgae), I'm still waiting for the staffs of complaint call fomr back (very tie when you talk in support of service these days).

NOTE 2: I would like to raise these issues, not because I want something (I do both IT support) complaints but I just want to solve the problem:

    1. is there some sort (software) allow me to access the hidden drive in and out of recovery disc image, my laptop still have the partition.

    2. is there a link I can download image recovery (in iso format) disc again? I've known it is not a question of wise, but when I ask the support staff that can re - install windows vista with the license key from the bottom of the laptop and has advised that it is not work or turn on.

    3. is there someone out there has similar problem

    Hi Thomas

I have a European model A200 (don t know what you model is) and the A200 was NOT equipped with the option of HARD drive recovery! This means that you cannot create your own recovery disk!
My laptop came with the Toshiba Vista recovery DVDs!

Still is it that your 1.46 GB hidden partition is not the Toshiba recovery partition but Vista hidden partition. It contains the WinRE files that are useful for repairing the operating system if something will go wrong!

Second, the Toshiba Recovery folder is too big for the partition of 1.46 GB!
So it is not possible that it would be placed on this s partition!

So finally, it seems that you will not be able to create the own recovery disk and therefore, you have to order it from the ASP in your country.

    Welcome them

    I doubt s a defective recovery disc.
Error message: missing or corrupted: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys could be caused by hardware or other component defective HARD drive.
In your case, I recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for the verification of the material with the new installation of the OS. The laptop is under warranty (as you suggest in the display above) and so everything should be done for free because it s covered by the warranty

  • NB305-01E recovery disks don't work

I tried to restore my NB305 Netbook (windows 7) to its original factory (using the beginning and hold '0') and with the recovery disc I made when I bought my netbook.

No recovery option works. Using the beginning + '0' does not put me in the hard drive recovery mode (everything that happens is that it freezes the boot process until I release the "0" key), or try using the recovery (F12 + recovery disk process) disk bothers me in the process of recovery, but after all of 1/2 hour of good process , the computer and external disk drive crashes with a message "copy files to the disc.

I left the computer all night and there was no progress. It seems that the recovery disc I made is corrupt and I might have to buy a new Toshiba recovery disks. Any suggestions or information on how I can go about buying recovery disc Toshiba for my net book?

    Thank you! JL

    Hello

To be honest I don t understand this with the computer and external drive. You have created recovery image on external HARD disk?

Can you please tell me where you bought your netbook? This European model? I ask this because on the European models, you enter startup options using F8 at startup and fix my computer to start the installation of HARD drive recovery.

In any case, if nothing is done I'm afraid, you must order the original Toshiba Recovery disk for your model laptop from Mr. I don t know where do you live and you can not send good link where you can order but you can contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

  • Product recovery / disk drive not recognized

    > Copy the files from the recovery disk of the product on a USB key, then from the laptop using this. When I do this the pen drive shows up as an option but a startup message appears that says that the USB is not an operating system.

It will not work. This recovery image cannot be started from a USB flash key.
I guess that your CD/DVD drive cannot read the disc properly. Who knows why
But you can try to copy the recovery on another disk CD or DVD using a different computer.
I noticed that the number of different CD/DVD drives cannot manage some disks
    Sometimes, this problem of compatibility

However, if you have the ability to copy this disc to another, then do it.
    Maybe it would work.

    Hello

Hmm, looks like the laptop cannot restore the operating system from the recovery image
To be honest I'm not very well why this error pops up but eventually it s m related to the new HARD drive installation.

Perhaps, you can format the HARD drive again using a clean Microsoft Windows CD (Win XP, etc.).
Boot from the CD of Win and format the HARD drive.
Then go to the recovery disk, boot from the recovery disc and try reinstalling the operating system

    Maybe it would work
