The hard drive from a Studio to sell will work in a Dell Latitude?  I have both, but the Studio is broken.  I don't want to lose what's on my hard drive and would like to know if it will work in my Latitude.  Studio hard drive has Windows 7 and Office Enterprise 2007.

  • Laptop hard drive failures

My laptop hard drive crashed. It is repaired by a new disc with the approved o/s. It doesn't have a D partition now. Is there any use in my command, recovery disks? I already started to restore applications and data.

    Hello

    I see what you mean

If media recovery is all benefits for you, depends in large part of the operating system that you use and whether you have any other way to reinstall the operating system in case of accident - for example if you are using Windows 7, you can easily create your own installation media and use the key of 25 characters of your coa label to activate it. A complete list of Windows 7 ISO files here.

If you are under Windows 8, these files are not so easy to find, so you spend your recovery media order may be worth considering.

In both cases, the only way that partition D (recovery) can be recreated would be to use a set of recovery media (disk or flash drive) to perform a factory reset as it will not only reinstall the OS, but to recreate the original scores, with only your laptop delivered.

  • Computer HP laptop slim 500 GB HARD drive: used for HP laptop HARD drive upgraded to Win 10 Pro with key now stuck after HP Drive Encryption Login

I bought a portable hard drive used HP for the upgrade of my Lenovo G550 with ugraded CPU with Intel's CORE DUO T9300 2.50 ghz

(HP hard drive: computer laptop slim drive HARD 500 GB SERIAL ATA DISK DRIVE S/N W627S9NL P/N 756731-001 MFG Seagate Technologies DOM 8 / 2015)

I was happy to see that the hatd drive had already installed because Windows 7 I had bought already separate legitimate Windows 10 Pro license key for the upgrade. I was able to go online and download the upgrade of Windows 10 and used my purchased license key to activate my updated.

While doing the installation, there are some HP software that was still on the hard drive. I thought it would be good to have some additional security protocols, so I also installed the WinMagic Securedoc Bootloader v1.2.12 and saved the drive encryption HP with the security issues and password for secondary access.

10 Windows has been activated and everything was beautiful. But when I restarted the laptop, I put my password for windows and then it goes to this screen of disc HP encryption rises. I put the password and it is accepted - and then the screen turns white... not offshore... jblank TEU with a cursor flashing that doesbn can't react to inputs.

I tried leaving it for a day or so and still nothing.  There is nothing I can change in the configuration of the BIOS that works so far.

I also tried Reimage download on USB and re-creation of the sequence of boot, but not good. Even tried a boot drive, but nothing there either. I'll try again.

I don't know where to go or how to get beyond the screen of HP encryption.  I am pretty good at following directions, I don't know coding, but may do what you suggest to help me fix this problem.

    Can you help me?

Sorry... I missed the part that you have a license Win10.  I thought you were trying to activate 10 using the OEM HP license and causing problems.

I do not use HP encryption applications - as having recently completed a career in the InfoSec, I personally focus together on the encryption of the PC to be laughable-, but my guess is that you are basically out of luck.

If it was my drive, I WIPE the drive of all its content and then again install Win10.  A good product to do i.e. DBan: http://tiptopsecurity.com/how-to-securely-wipe-your-hard-drive-with-dban-erase-your-data-for-good/

Once your disc is clean, then simply install Win10 on it.

That said, with a bit of luck, one of the HP EXPERTS will probably come along and tell you how to get around their encryption.

    Good luck

  • Damaged laptop hard drives can be recovered?

    Hello

I hope you can answer my question, as I've had a little trouble with my TOSHIBA Satellite Pro

The strap of my laptop broke so that on my shoulder, and the bag bag fell to the floor. In 1 of the card slots PC is a wireless LAN adapter. (Bad luck) wanted that it was on the side of the laptop that hit the ground, causing the map being pushed higher in the side of the laptop about an inch

Since then, the laptop has not started up.

    2 questions:

    1. do you know what hardware is close the PC card slots, and if they are difficult to repair/replace

    2. If the laptop is completely been goosed, is it possible to use the hard drive from Toshiba Satellite Pro and ask a farm to copy all information/data from the old hard drive to the new hard drive?

    Thank you
    brand

    Hello Mark

In my opinion, you should contact Toshiba service partner allowed in your country and explain to them the situation. Toshiba laptops have no standard hardware architecture and you'll be lucky if anyone can give you correct answer (you didn't mention WHAT Satellite Pro you have). On this way, we can only speculate because nobody knows how much is the damaged laptop.

I suppose that the HARD drive is no longer usable but you can try to connect to another laptop as external, then check if the HARD drive works or not.

If you have important data on this topic you can contact some IT closes that are able to save the data. Everything is possible, but it will cost a little more.

    Here's a Visual.

    Thank you.

    Hello andrew8blue,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I saw your picture and read your thread. The cable is not a replaceable part. You might have to replace the whole motherboard if the HARD drive does not work.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you!

  • Replacement Laptop hard drive - 12.5 mm vs 9.5 mm (HP Pavilion dv7-4180)

I am looking to buy a spare hard drive for my laptop and in accordance with the documentation of Maintenance HP (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02666747.pdf), HP dv7 laptop computers in the range 4000-4200 support 750 GB + hard drives which are 12.5 mm height. I searched the internet for a 1 TB hard drive, but I can't find those who are 12.5 mm. Has anyone had luck installing a 9.5 mm HDD? Thank you!

    Hello

For a long time, they are now thinner disk HARD, 3mm, it's just a great rate of 12.5 mm to 9.5 mm BUT 4 (or 8 screws) must maintain the HARD drive in place. People can put SSDS to DV7 machine then should be allowed to use the 9.5 mm on a DV7.

    Kind regards.

  • Need to test the broken laptop hard drive but has strange adapter

I have a Compaq NX7400 and the screen is broken. I want to test the hard drive to see if that works, but it has a weird card. Does anyone know if it emerges because I can then put it in a laptop from work to see if it works?

This works. This is the main interface. It's called SATA... it has replaced the old interface IDE brass pin about 8-10 years ago. That the hard drive can be connected to a desktop computer with an open SATA data port and adapter and SATA power adapter; right interface is identical to a SATA desktop hard drive.

Oops, I forgot that your hard drive is not detectable.

You have to try reinstalling the hard drive and see if it can be detectable, otherwise you can try to use a dolly or a box of 2.5 inches. If not I'm afraid you have to wear your hard drive to a recovery or store flat and to see if they can get the data, otherwise you'll lose everything.
