Reference Dell VRTX Drive Configuration

I'm trying to configure a Dell VRTX to 3 blades with R2 2012 Windows failover

I followed the instructions from Dell to create a Quorum disk (RAID 1) and a shared disk of the cluster (CSV) - Raid 50.

The issue is, in each Windows host, Disk Manager sees each virtual disk twice.

What did I miss?

I answered my own question.

The Microsoft MPIO's feature must be installed as well

Dell administrator and specialist out there, I need help!

I have a VRTX and 2 nodes of Cluster of Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V running. I want to migrate to Windows Server 2012 Hyper - V R2 cluster (using another 2 blades) but will use existing storage. Seems that I can't use the existing storage again, I assigned the virtual disk of the CMC. In Failover Cluster Manager > disc, I got error "the requested resource is in use. Cluster event log, I got:

    1069-

Cluster resource ' Cluster disk 1' type "Physical disk" in the role of cluster '9c5e9411-cddd-4496-8 ch. 57-9be758e788a1' failed. "

1038 - ownership of cluster disk 'disk 1' Cluster unexpectedly lost by this node.

I'm currently stuck here. Cannot make the 2012 R2 to access the existing cluster disk. Can someone tell me what is my mistake, and if there is no action to be performed on the CMC or Windows?

Thanks in advance for your help...

Found the answer. See the CSV property. During migration, the cluster to copy can be used to migrate the roles of clusters. But the disc may not be online on two clusters as a cluster have the property. So the steps, you must run the cluster to copy first, then turn off your VM on the old cluster and make the CSV file in offline mode. Then do the WB Online on the other node, run your VM on your new node with the new cluster. This solved my issue.

  • Reference Dell touchpad driver updated for Windows 10 new gesture

    Hello

A new major upgrade for Windows 10 has been released a few days ago, and the update included a new gesture that allow the user to pass the workstations with 4 fingers on the touchpad and slide between the left or right to switch workstations.

This new gesture does not work on my touchpad and I guess this can refer to the current version of the touchpad driver is not yet supported in this function because other gestures as three finger swipe to move all open windows and three finger tap to call Cortana are always works well for me.

I was wondering if there is no update for the driver for the touchpad to soon, or all those were just my own question...

    Thank you!

Note: not all systems and service tags will have a picture available.

  • Reference Dell M1000e + aggregator MI/O port mapping

    Hi all

I intend to install a new chassis Dell M1000e with Dell M/o aggregator. During the time of solution, I have a few questions about correspondences between the physical uplink with NDC blade ports ports. A Please check the config below and specify my queries?

    My hardware:

    • 1 x Dell M1000e
    • 2 x M i/o aggregator (A1 & A2)
    • 16 x M630 Blade (Qlogic 57840 S ANC four ports card)

    Reference DELL M/o aggregator:

    (reserved for Future use) module QSFP + 2 ports (Port No1:33 - 36 & No2:37 Port-40)

I want to use these two modules for my blades 4-port Quad and the confusion I had, how to associate these 16 ports (8 ports of each module) to the server blade and the amount of bandwidth I will get by blade with redundancy.

Module 4-port SFP + 10 GbE (Flexi-O of the Bay) (Port No.: 41-48)

Module 4-port 2/4/8 Gb FC FlexIO (Flexi Bay 1) (Port No.: 49-56)

FYI - I would like to install ESXi 6.0 on all blades

    Thank you!!

    Vinay

Oriented server ports are configured automatically as part of the aggregation of links groups if the server is configured for the LACP Protocol. Static GAL is not supported.

You will use the segregation network VLAN. A VLAN for network traffic and the other for the CF. Here are the commands to configure interfaces for different VLANS.

    Unidentified:

Dell (conf) # tengigabit interface 0/16

    Dell(conf-if-te-0/16) # vlan unidentified 4

    Output Dell(conf-if-te-0/16) #.

    Tag:

Dell (conf) # tengigabit interface 0/16

    The tag vlan Dell(conf-if-te-0/16) # 4

    Output Dell(conf-if-te-0/16) #.

Traffic from servers will follow the path of the VLAN. For example, if an internal server, facing the port is set to VLAN 4, that traffic will be transmitted on the uplink port which has also set to VLAN 4.

By default, all external ports are placed in a single whole LAG. However, you can change the configuration to support several shifts of uplink. Page 159 of guys configuration takes you step by step on setting up several shifts of uplink.

The aggregator automatically configures to match the FCoE parameters used in the switches to which it connects through its uplink ports. FIP snooping is automatically configured on an aggregator. Automatically configured port channel (LAG 128) works CWF port mode. See page 86 for more information and examples of config.

For redundancy, you could stack the units together. 241 page details the process of stacking.

Page 54 of 102 of the Guide blade IO has one other diagram that details more internal server port mapping for each blade.

    Hi all

I worked on this project for a while now. I did a lot of research and have contacted Dell several times. I need help.

I have 2 sets of identical to use for Hyper-V clusters servers. We bought a Dell MD3200i in November, we also bought a Dell 5424 switch and a Cisco SLM2048 switch. These servers have Real Tek 2 network cards for iSCSI Jumbo frames is 9 k

The Dell MD3200i is two SAN controllers. Dell 5424 is the iSCSI optimized switch and Cisco is a 48 switch ports. iSCSI is on its own network that nothing else is connected to it. (There is an Iomega NAS and a promise Vtrak SAN Tech with all current domain of execution with iSCSI controller)

Cisco switch has 1 VLAN n ° 1 on it and the 130 subnet inside elements. There are 8 connections to the switch. 4 controller 0 and 1 of each of the servers. It has an IP of 192.168.132.4, but that switch IP does not make difference. Lighted Jumbo frames

Dell switch has 2 of #1 for various things such as the domain controller, Vtrack, and SIN. Subnet 2 is 131 and has a total of 8 connectors inside. 4 in 1 controller and 1 from each of the servers. Lighted Jumbo frames. The switch IP address is 192.168.132.2

Groups of servers. Each server node running Windows 2008 R2 SP1 and running hyper-v with virtual server clusters / storage folder on them. 2 Realtek NIC with Jumbo frames made 9 k ProdNode1 and ProdNode2 have 12 Core i7 CPU with 12 GB memory, EXNode1 and ExNode2 have 12 Core i7 CPU with 24 GB of memory.

iSCSI tab click on add 8 MPIO sessions at each of the ports on the MD3200i from Dell, target. For example, I added 1 session of 192.168.130.101 using it. Add Session,--> activate--> Advanced Mutlipath--> Local--> IP 192.168.130.110 initiator and target 192.168.131.101 iSCSI adapter. This is repeated on all servers. 4 connections for each NIC.

The network is very slow. It revolved around 2 to 4 MB/MIN and it should be much faster. Initially, we had only the Cisco switch with only 1 VLAN and everything connected directly to it. I read somewhere that MPIO has been the problem, so I went through the same configuration but does not verify the MPIO checkbox above. Once this has been done, the network speed went up to 1.5 GB/Min but modular storage Dell was not happy, and virtual servers would fail and the connection is not very stable.

What wrong with my setup? Can I directly home and fix the servers directly to the PowerVault and will make stable and allow for failover and redundancy NIC? I need to get this stable so I can move with something else.
