Removal of the HARD drive

I'm pretty saavy with material and I create systems and have recently started to fix some laptops, but my DV9700t HP are a bit difficult (well, come to think, it's probably just me; you know, the 40-watt bulb in the box of 100 watt).  Anyway, here's the jist of the matter.  When I custom ordered this beast, I had HP put in Hitachi two 120 GB hard drives, 7200 RPM SATA.  My main drive fills up very quickly so I bought a new Hitachi 320 GB drive, 7200 RPM SATA to replace my second 120 which is practically empty (I'll put this one in my front door).  Anyway, I can't understand how the second 120 GB HARD disk frees itself from its Bay.  There are no screws in cradle Bay, only the four screws holding the HARD drive in the frame, and they are on the side of the chassis.  Someone besides the HP repair people has information or instructions on how to get this drive from the Bay.  I really hope that this isn't a matter of removing all the merits of the case, because it would just be a "what we thought"when we designed this baby"kind of thing...

Thanks Hüffer!  Ever have the feeling that sometimes you have to be smarter than the object you try hard?  Thanks for the help.  It has already changed and put it back together.  Looks great.  I appreciate really help him.

Hi, I own a L300-1bw, is seriously damaged (I'm going to scrap it) I had a HARD drive password to set.

Now, a friend has a C660 - 26G, which I hope to use to remove the password (which obviously I know).

Now, I plan to install in the C660 and go into the Bios to remove my HDD password, I will then put it it an external USB caddy.

    Hello

I read in this thread that someone tried to remove the HARD drive password using a laptop from another manufacturer, and it did not work. But he managed to remove the HARD drive password using a Toshiba laptop.

Usually, the HARD drive password is stored and encrypted on the HARD drive therefore, theoretically, that it should be possible to delete a password KNOWN to the HARD drive using the C660.

So I would simply test it

My HP Pavilion s3360 crashed 2 days ago, but because I had to buy a new pc anyway, I don't really mind. • Satellite A100 - question on the removal of the HARD drive

    Hi all

I opened the back panel and have Visual access to the hard drive. It is placed in a kind of rubber cradle / cage. Please advise on how to remove the hard drive and replace it with a new one.

I need to do this is because I am faced with recurring problems of bad sector and now XP will not boot. So I intend to install a new 160 GB HARD drive and use the recovery disc.

Also, I enclose the picture of the HARD drive in the laptop when the case was opened.

Looking forward to your prompt response.

    Thanks in advance.

Move the HARD drive to the left and the HARD drive will be disconnected. Place it on a flat surface like desktop and remove the two plastic covers by moving them to the left or the right.

  • Windows XP Pro do not validate after the removal of the hard drive

In an older machine, I have a copy of Windows XP Pro, it is validated and worked perfectly fine, until I removed a dying hard drive of the machine, then it is suddenly telling me that the OS is not genuine. I can't get to turn on again in a way that I can think of, and I don't see anything immediately above that might interfere with the activation. I would really not like to re - install the operating system, anyway I can activate it again without doing so would be greatly appreciated.

  • remove all the HARD drive recovery partition incl. disk partitions

IM in the process of upgrading to vista 32-bit Ultimate edition - a Lenovo T61 laptop OS original vista home, comes with HARD 160 GB but only show 110 GB disk.
There is the hidden for drive recovery partition. now, I've wanted this disk recovery partition removed for more space for important files of video editing.

How can I remove this parition hidden containing the recovery disk?

I bought the support for laptop recovery CD - I have no need of the hidden partition.

in the process, I deleted the existing partition (not the hiiden recovery partition) and installed vista ultimate 32 and it lights without problem. I then installed
the INF chipset utilitty downloaded from the Lenovo Web site, and then installed some drivers downloaded - and all in perfect condition smooth running.

now, I decided to remove that hidden partition containing the disk recovery - whatever happens after that, I have the recovery CD.

How to remove this hidden partition? TIA

"" "This applies only to Windows Vista.

    * Make sure that you have backed up your OEM code before deleting the Rugged hidden

The hidden restore Partition Lenovo is a protected partition, then you will not be able to remove it through disk management as you would with any other normal partition. You can use Diskpart. You can still use these steps to remove the hidden restore partition if you have already done a clean install, but you will need a 3rd party software to combine with the main partition. It is better if you remove the first hidden restore Partition, then cross with a clean install using one of the many guides available on this forum.

    Step 1.
Burn recovery media. Type "Recovery media" (without the quotes) in the search in the Start Menu. Open the application and follow the instructions.

    Step 2.
Open the application by typing Diskpart either 'Diskpart' (without the quotes) in the search, or type "Diskpart.exe" in run by pressing Windows key + R.

    Step 3.
Now with open Diskpart, you must enter the following command lines:

    I. type "list disk" without the quotes and press ENTER.

II. Type in "select disk 0" and press ENTER.

III. then type in "list partition" and press ENTER.

IV. then type in 'select partition x' x = the recovery partition you want to delete (I think it's 1, I do not remember) replace x with the number of recovery partition and press to enter.

    V. finally type in "delete partition override" and press ENTER.

That should do the trick. Good luck!

  • Remove the hard drive before sending for maintenance?

Hi all, I'm somewhat new, so I hope that people can help me with this.

My T400 mother board seems to be dead, which means I can't use the laptop at all. I called Lenovo service center and they told me to post my laptop for them (my warranty is still valid).

However, I realized later that it was the small matter of trust all my data for them, so I called again to ask. A different operator recommended that I have remove all the hard drive before you post the phone for them. That's what I intend to do, but I forgot to ask if it was OK to remove the disk hard when there is a motherboard problem.

    Is it?

No it will work as it did you do not have to do anything, it will have the same serial number of the system but have different material serial number

  • Portege M400 does not accept the hard drive built into the boot password

First I assigned a 9 character long password BIOS via the security utility help my new Toshiba Portege M400 (M400-139) with Windows XP Tablet Edition.
He asked me if I also want to use the same password "repeated" to cover the 22 or so (I don't remember) characters long password of HDD, and I said ok.
Then, I removed the BIOS password. But couln can't remove HARD drive password.

I then created a different password which has been long 1 character and removed, but the HARD drive password remained.
When I rebooted the system, he asked me the 'HARD Word built-in disk '.
I tried to enter both the 9 and 1 character long passwords, but it says not 'certified '. What should I do?

Should I write tha password over and over again, until it reaches 22 or more characters?
If this is the problem, then, the number of characters long?
I also think that the keyboard layout mapping can be a problem.

I have never changed the setting page, but maybe that the default value of the plant is different from a windows.
But I used only numbers and letters of international standard.

    I need immediate assistance.
    All my work is interrupted.

I put t know if you have inserted the right HARD drive password or not but the non-certified message said that the inserted password is certainly not correct.
Someone said that the message uncertified might if poster if you laptop was send hibernation instead of the stop mode mode after the password has been set.

But I don t think that this could be relevant in your case.

One question; have you tried to delete the password for HARD drive via the password of Toshiba or in the BIOS utility?

Please check if you can edit/delete in the BIOS because I found the info in the manual M400 you must use the BIOS Setup to modify, delete the disk HARD ot password to set the password master HD!

The manual also provide information if you forget the user Toshiba HARD drive password will not be able to help you and your HARD drive will be rendered completely and permanently unusable! When save the HARD drive password stop or restart the computer. If the computer is not shut down or restarted, the recorded data (password) cannot be correctly included!

So maybe that's a reason why you can not change the HDD password?  :|

  • Using the HARD drive of a Tecra A4 as a for another laptop external HARD drive.

I have a Toshiba Tecra A4. I want to use the HARD drive as a second hard drive to another laptop, but it seemed to me that the HDD in Tecra A4 has a special bond that does not fit in a standard externel HDD-Bay. Anyone know how I can use the HARD Tecra A4 drive as an external HARD drive?

Subquestion: is it not possible to use a 2.5 "HARD drive normal in a Toshiba Tecra A4?

    Hello

AFAIK Tecra A4 has 2.5 inch HDD inside. But the HARD drive has another connector HARD drive that you can remove. The HARD drive is placed in the HARD drive chassis and fixed with four screws. Remove the screw and the connector. Be very carefully and take it easy.

After that you can use in other laptops.

  • Conclusion removed the hard drive

Our "old" laptop teacher at work will be used by students this year so our IT team has removed all hard drives.  Unfortunately, one of our teachers made a mistake on the external hard drive backup and lost his papers. The info was accidentally recorded on the hard drive... not the external drive. All hard drives (hundreds and hundreds) are now randomly laying in boxes.

We can find the laptop that was hers, but is it possible to find the serial number for the hard drive that had been in it? Are the serial numbers for the laptop in any way linked to the serial number on the hard drive? Just try to find every way possible to help him.

Not sure about the BONE... probably the latest or next to last.

    Thank you!

There is no correlation between the installed hard drive and MacBooks in which they have been installed. Then the next number in the series could even have another brand of disc.

Frankly, I can't remove these drives. A single pass of erasure with writing zeros would be crushed everything (but it takes all afternoon). Crushed once sufficient for everything but nuclear secrets.

  • If I remove the hard drive from my Mac book will find my Mac still works

One of my buddies and ME are supporting it because im trying to say that if you remove the hard drive of a Macbook, find my Mac no longer works, even if you get a new hard drive and connect it to the Internet. He said, that it only stops working if it is not connected to the internet, and I know it's true, but I want to know if my theory is correct,

If you remove the HD there is nothing to identify your Mac then FindMyMac.

To use FindMyMac the Mac must be connected to the internet and FindMyMac must be enabled in system preferences > iCloud. This requires Mac be signed in iCloud.

  • Satellite Pro P300 - remove the HARD drive to make a backup?

My P300 went to my local store to repair for a network card problem. I thought it was just a software problem or driver, so I wasn't worried that my machine is still under warranty. After investigation, they stated that they could not resolve the issue, so would be to reformat and reinstall the OS, they thought they should solve the problem.

To my horror, I found that they had broken the seals of guarantee and open to the top of the machine. They claimed the only way to save the P300 before reformat it, is to remove the HARD drive!
    Is this true?
(It turns out that a broken chip is to blame, but because they violated the warranty, Toshiba will not touch!)

Can anyone say about this the removal of HD to support it please?

    Hey,.

Normally it of not necessary to restore the factory settings with to remove the HARD drive but don t you worry about this. The laptop can still be opened from a service provider authorized without losing the warranty.

I also put t know why they did, perhaps they have checked the material. It would be possible because they have professional diagnostic tools.

But interesting to know whether or not your problem is now resolved?
