restarts and blue screen m30 852

Hi all
I bought the M30 852 almost 4 weeks and installed a memory of 512 MB to the 512 MB already existing. And from day one the laptop had repeatedly restarted after a quick blue screen. After doing a search, I found that the supplier has provided the wrong update memory, I removed the 'bad' RAM to correct the problem, but the problem, although miniized, it always happens on rare occasions.
Should I try re-installing the software of the window using the recovery disk? or return the unit to the dealer?
And being as designated on the web that the 'blue screen' is mainky assosiated with faulty memory, it is a software that allows to test the RAM in the computer?

Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Hi maverick_f1

I can tell you what _I_ used to check the memory on my laptop. I'm not sure that this is the most convenient solution...
I used a linux Live CD Knoppix 3.7 distribution. After you download and burn the iso of the distribution (http://www.knoppix.net) restart the laptop and set the startup order CD-ROM, HARD drive, etc. Restart and at the first screem press F2, then type memtest (instructions are on the screen...)

You could try to find tests of memory applications based on Windows at http://www.download.com

To check what type of memory you need you can use the assistants of http://www.crucial.com or http://www.offtek.co.uk

I am not an expert, but I think that the blue screen could come from some bad drivers as well... Make a new installation, then check the toshiba website (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU) to see if there are newer versions of the drivers...

  • Satellite A500 - crackling sounds and blue screen

    Hey everybody.

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500-19w about 4 days ago (today it is Sunday, March 7, 2010).

I had the sounds of crackling of my speakers which have been mentioned so many times in the forums, no real solution.
I also experienced the crash of the blue screen, that's already happened 7 times while I was not strongly using my newly buy laptop.
I'm not looking for a repair or a replacement, because I find it quite unacceptable to have to think about the errors, faults & fixes as much as the laptop is brand new.

What I want is a refund, but I'm not sure on how to do it.

I know that Toshiba has some sort of refund policy, but if someone can tell me exactly how it works, because I want to get rid of my laptop as soon as possible (I will not buy any more portable Toshiba, especially since I had some similar problems with my Qosmio f30).
If someone can give me some guidance, because I don't want to be mocked or used and cheated out of refund.
I bought my Toshiba in the Middle East (perhaps refund policies are different here).
    Thank you.

    Hi mihran.

If you want to pay off your laptop, you should talk with your computer store where you bought it. Only the can repay your laptop and not Toshiba directly.
Of course it is also depending on the country where you life, but normally you can pay within 14 days I think. So in your case I speak with the seller or give them a call. They explain how to do this.

But let me give you a little advice: regarding your problems with the crackling sound and blue screen I recommend that you contact an authorized service provider or ask a new A500 (this should be possible if you have only 4 days). Generally, I can say that a friend of mine has Satellite A500 and he is quite satisfied with her. This laptop has a great design equipped with new material for a good price. :)

    First run Memtest86 +:

It runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if one or more of your memory

Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours (at least 3 full passes), so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

If you reinstalled Windows, then you can be sure that it is hardware related.

I tried to reboot in safe mode, normal and the latest, but nothing works.  The blue screen appears for a second then restart my desktop computer.  The technical message I get is "stop: 0000007E (0X8A713510, 0XBA50B7EC, 0XBA50B4E8).  I checked the previous similar responses to this problem, but I've not seen one adapted to these numbers.  Can anyone help?

First, it is important that you find a way to copy all your data before doing anything else.

Unfortunately, a number of things can cause what you are experiencing! If you are not that technically savvy, you may need to find a PC tech.

Hardware problems can certainly cause BSOD. Here again, your happened recently, if you can perform what is commonly called a manual system restore:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307545

    You might luck with that.

If it doesn't work, you can try a repair installation:

    http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

And then, if you have a hardware problem, no amount of repairs or relocation you won't help. You will need to troubleshoot hardware, which may be too advanced for you.

Have you recently added any hardware? Have you updated any drivers just before this started? (Check
Panel configuration-updates of Windows to see if all drivers have been updated it there all the time it started)
Main likely culprits are video driver, other great drivers, memory and antivirus/antispyware/security
products could be at fault as well as reader questions.

Use the troubleshooter above for pilots and memory.

    BCCode: 50 0 x 00000050

    Cause

The BCCode 50 usually occurs after the installation of the installation of a faulty material or failure of
material (usually associated with defective RAM, either main memory, L2 RAM or RAM video cache).

Another common cause is a defective system service installation.

Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.

    Solve the problem

Solve a defective hardware problem: If the material has been added to the system recently, remove it to see
If the error recurs. If the hardware failure existing, remove or replace the faulty component. You must run
Diagnostics of material provided by the manufacturer of the system. For more information about these procedures, see the owner
    Manual for your computer.

Fix a defective system service: Disable the service and confirm that this resolves the error. If so,.
Contact the manufacturer of the system service on a possible update. If the error occurs during the system
startup, restart your computer, and then press F8 at the menu character mode that displays the operating system
choice. In the Windows Advanced Options menu that results, select thelast known good Configuration
option. This option is most effective when a pilot or a service is added at a time.

Solve a problem of antivirus software: Disable the program and confirm that this resolves the error. If she
is the case, contact the manufacturer of the program about a possible update.

Fix a corrupted NTFS volume: Run Chkdsk /f /r to detect and repair disk errors. You must
Restart the system before the start of the analysis of disk on a system partition. If the SCSI hard disk, check for
problems between the SCSI controller and the drive.

Finally, check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the
device or the driver that generated the error. Disable the cache in memory of the BIOS might also resolve it.

When a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) the system failure occurs, for most users, there not enough time to fully record what he says. the exact text is important for anyone trying to diagnose what is wrong. You can save time when the error occurs then by following the procedure described below.

If you already did it disable the auto reboot system error. This should help by allowing the time to write the code to Stop error and related information correctly. Do right click on the icon my computer on the desktop and select Properties, advanced, startup and recovery, system failure and uncheck the box before automatically restarting. Re-do not enable automatic restart in the event of system failure after obtaining this information, this setting is the best left to not allow an automatic restart.

If the failure occurs during the initialization of the computer, you need to try a different approach. You can access the Advanced Options Menu of Windows on multiple computers by constantly pressing the F8 (key) key when starting and selecting the option - disable automatic restart in case of system error. This method is not always easy to use because it may be difficult to press the F8 key at the right time. Try again if it doesn't work the first time. On some computers, a different key must be used.
