Restoration of HotSync

I have touch screen on my Tungsten e2 problems so this morning I did a backup Hotsync. This afternoon, I tried to do a restore, but my timing was not updated and when I look on my computer all the dates of these are empty. If I lost data or is there a way to restore a previous Hotsync.

You can recover data from your user folder as long as you only Sync once with the PC when you discovered the missing data. When synchronize you with the PC there are files created for each category of PIM in your user folder. For example; datebook.dat or appointment (according to the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak.

The files are named .dat and .bak. When you synchronize, the current data is stored in. dat. The next time that you synchronize the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.

Here's another link about the loss of data;

The best way to backup your data is to use the export function in Palm Desktop. Create a new folder on the desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Then, select the category that you want to export. You will get a window asking you where you want to save the file, save it in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select the record currently selected, or all, select all. If you do not select all, only the highlighted record is exported. You will need to name the file for export then I suggest the name of the category, for example: calendar (with the current date). Do this for all the essential data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the desktop of the computer, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD - RW. With this method, you will have your data in a separate place than Palm desktop and the device. If 'Lose you' data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.

Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export data to the folder created for the backup.

Here is a link for other options for backing up your data;

  • Restoration of hotsync after Hard Reset Palm Centro

    Hello

My Palm Centro was freezing randomly and in particular whenever someone called me. As this was very annoying, I performed a Hard Reset of the device. Before I did I did a Hotsync to back up everything (or so I thought).

Now when I do another hotsync after Hard Reset nothing is restored, the only things on the device that were there before are the photos that were on the memory card. All my Contacts, phone numbers, notes, calendar entries and everything disappeared. How can I restore them?

EDIT: Ive since found all my contacts, calendar entries, memos, etc. in the application of "Palm Desktop" in Windows XP. How to I move from the computer on the Palm Centro?

    -Aussieguy

When you hotsync it will ask for a user name, be they existing or invites you to create a new.

you remember what username you assigned when you do the front hotsync.

You also said that you can see your information in palm desktop, check the user name in the upper right corner where you see the user name.

regardless of the user name displayed in the area where you can also see your data, this is the username correct to decide when you hotsync.

now, your device is empty so kindly do the hard reset on it and then try to hotsync, but this time, you should be able to know what username to choose.

  • WiFi not on the toolbar icon

Need help please, I have problems with wifi on a Palm TX. I don't really know what happened that my wife called me at work but I returned and did a hard reset several times and the wifi icon still not repopulate. There is not yet all options for wifi in the menu Preferences, but there is a spot on the toolbar where it should be fine. Really, I don't know what else to do here, and I just got this for my wife as a Christmas gift. Could someone please help me with this?

If you made a backup of your Palm via Hotsync, I think I'll try to restore via Hotsync where your office overrides your Palm device.

Also, take a look at this solution that solved the problem for someone else:

  • HotSync locks after that loss of data has been restored

I have a Palm Centro software 6.2.2. and XP Pro operating system

After an update of Windows rebooted my computer, I lost all my calendar entries. I tried to recover by doing a HotSync with Pocket crushing the computer. Locked HotSync. Dialog box has had two calendar entries and told 'Done' and the other says "synchronization." I closed the HotSync (had to go to the Task Manager) and I then recovered from a backup entries and added all the entries from the backup of the handheld to the computer. At this point, all entries in the two handheld and computer are the same. So, I tried an another HotSync with total (without crushing Pocket) synchronization and synchronization locked again. Can you help me?

    Thank you

Regret not responding earlier and thank you for your help. DBFixIt did that, if I were to buy - free download didn't cut it for my problem. After using the software, synchronization worked again but becasuyeof duplicate entries, I had to delete all the calendar items of handheld and PC, import my last back upward and synchronize from there. Indeed, I learned the value of backups!

    Thank you very much

  • Successful HotSync but no information from Palm Desktop.

Wireless Hotsync "completed", but there is no information in my Palm Desktop, no contact, no notes, no tasks, etc., although this information is in the Palm Pilot. I have Windows 7, 64 bit computer laptop.  HotSync wireless worked well in the past.  Just started this problem a couple of days.  HotSync Manager version 7.0.2.  Palm Desktop version 6.2.2.  I have a backup file on my laptop but don't know how to restore the desktop.  Any suggestions?  Thanks, PNeely

I suggest you download an extractor free files like 7-zip or WinZip.

Maybe after installation, any registry that are problems will be straightened.

  • cant TX new hotsync to transfer former TX Info

Can anyone help? I'm desperate. I'd be happy to call you if you would be easier to guide me this way.

I can't get my new (2nd hand) TX synchronize in order to transfer all the info from the old, but I have no former synchronization problem. (the reason why I bought the replacement, it is that the screen on old is down).

I have Windows 7 and hotsync via WIFI.

After having unpacked the file manually open installation quick palm on your computer and then drag the file NVBackup in it. Do a hotsync. Even if you have a kindle and your system calls NVBackup a kindle file, it should work. Once it is installed on your old currency you can choose its icon. On the palm screen icon looks like a memory card with the word NVBackup the bottom of it.  If you can't type on it you can select with the keys. It will ask you to accept the terms of the software, and you are going to select Yes. You will choose the new backup. If successful, the backup will take several minutes and do a soft reset of the legacy. Once this is done, you place the old legacy memory card that you ran just NVBackup in the other Palm that you want to use. You open the memory card on your new palm and the program that nvbackup will be there. You run it and select restore and it should take a few minutes to run and do a soft reset on your new currency. At this point, the program is on your new palm and each setting and the program that was on the old currency should be there. It could not be something wrong with your new currency. If you cannot run NVBackup, establishing a first hotsync with wifi is delicate as you probably know.

I'm guessing that you have a 64 bit system. Correct me if I'm wrong. Did you confirm that you are using windows 7. If none of the previous solutions work you might want to try the 64-bit by Aceeca driver. Last month an advertising motto named Aceeca published a Pocket driver 64-bit windows that works in conjunction with palm desktop and allows cable hotsync on 64-bit windows of manufacturing systems. I have a TX and a desktop windows 7 64 bit and can make a usb cable sync with this new driver. I'm a WyreNuts post with links link and install directions.

    64-bit drivers are here

  • 4.1 Palm HotSync not more

When traveling to Paris I plugged my Zire m150 charger in the wall socket (with converter) and it appeared sparks and blow up the PDA. BUT later, the PDA is back to life? All data in the PDA is there and available. but when I try to hotsync with my 32 bit vista pc, it no longer hotsync, receiving the msg "the connection between your computer and Pocket Office could not be established. I guess that something in the PDA itself has been damaged. I want to recharge the PDA on the PDA hotsync software. I guess the pc software is ok... is the rechargeable PDA software and if so where I get it. I have the drive of the software provided with the PDA, but I guess that only loads the software on the pc.   WHERE can I buy a replacement Zire somewhere who would hotsync with my current pc palm data...

To "recharge" the HotSync software, you will need to erase your device and perform a hard reset.

To perform a hard reset: (Palm Knowledgebase article #887)

    http://KB.Palm.com/wps/portal/KB/common/article/887_en.html

Remember, this will delete all data on the device.  If you still cannot HotSync (a great possibility because according to me, this problem is related to hardware because of electronics fried) you will not be able to restore your data to the device.

An other Zire 150 would work, and once you did a Hard Reset on it, you would be able to load all of your PIM data and programs on it.  Given that Palm PDA are no longer manufactured, you would need to look on the net for a used.

  • Zire72 data and BlueTooth HotSync

Formatting / restored recently my 1 year old PC (Win7HomePremium on HP Pavilion) after 1 year successful hotsync with my Zire72. RELOADED Access 6.2 and tried to replace my data in Access, but couldn't make it work. Also, unable to hot sync via bluetooth as before. Unit connects and starts, gets to step 2 (calendar) of 13 and just hangs. Read that your old posts then let it run for more than 30 minutes and no change. You have to use Task Manager to stop. BTW, have uninstalled/reinstalled 6.2 Access but no change. Any ideas or other thoughts greatly appreciated. Thank you!

DBFixit2 as 'fixed' the DMwrite fatal error/deleted it, but anyway, now able to sync without the crash. Good investment... $ 12.95 and it seems they have same technical support for the product and the process for Palm.

  • HotSync does not work

I had to reformat my HARD drive and start from scratch after a catastrophic system failure. I installed the Palm software for my TE2 last week and hotsync worked well. Tonight I can't get the hot sync to work at all, I tried to reboot the PC by plugging the USB input / output, does not. All I get on the TE2 is the message "the connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. "Please check your nd Setup try again."

Fact any who have experience with this and help me to restore the hot sync function. Thank you very much

I got it. Ended up having to do a hard reset of the PDA and it worked the first time

  • HotSync the Palm foldable keyboard connection error

    Hello

I used a foldable keyboard (P10802U) for years and it worked fine on my M505 and my T3. I recently started giving me an error when I try to connect to the keyboard. It attempts to launch Hotsync and displays an error message that says: "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your configuration and try again. I downloaded and installed a new version of the keyboard.prc. This seems to be ineffective. No change.

Can someone tell me what is happening here? Is this a kind of collision of software or has my keyboard suddenly auto destroyed while I watched?

What kind of information do you need from me to make a decision?

Everyone had / has a similar problem? Is there a solution that does not involve a new purchase?

Any help would be appreciated at this point, until I started delving into the dark and really break something.

    Kind regards

    Deadoweyn

To SOLVE my problem... I put it in the cradle and did a Hot Sync with computer... who has restored the settings. I can use the folding laptop keyboard again! All that I really want the PDA to write away from office... then load in the Office for further editing. Wonderful device!

  • Restoration of lost data on an old Palm Pilot?

Restoration of lost data on an old Palm Pilot? My Palm Pilot erased when I don't keep not loaded. I backed up more data on my desktop, but I don't know how to get saved, transferred data to my Palm Pilot. How can I get the Palm Pilot back up and running?

How do backup you the data?  Palm OS devices come with disks that contain Palm Desktop.  To back up your data, you perform a HotSync operation on your computer.

To restore data, do the same thing!  If your device is really empty, Palm Desktop will recognize as such and it will ask you, "create a new account or use an existing one?  Choose existing, and choose your original account name Hotsync.

If you saved it another way, then I can't help you without details.

  • Lot of HotSync and wiped out computer info

    Hello

I just lost my Centro phone today.  I had my old Treo 650, I decided to hotsync to at least give me my agenda and past issues. The problem is that I didn't have the replacement parameters correct and wiped all my information on my office.  Is there a way I can restore my desktop settings, then when I get a new phone all will be back?

You synchronize your Treo under the same username as the centro?

Open the Palm Desktop program. On the top right, you should see your username listed. If you have more than one user name (that of your Treo) and the other of your centro, click on the username associated with your centro and check if all the information is here.

I hope that you are able to get all your info!

  • Treo 90 restoration OS

I picked up a treo 90 in a second hand store. I just had a charger & battery charge enough to turn on. It does not seem to have all the apps on it. I cannot hotsync but you can't go to the home screen. HotSync, prefs, citytime, cardinfo & security are only apps. Acting me House takes PREF. Definition of default BUTTONS turns them all UNSELECTED. The applications above are the only ones that appear to be assigned to the keys. Help. I have used other Palm trees for years. It is the first with a keyboard. I did all resets. Do I have to restore the operating system to the ROM. ?? If so, how do I do that. ??? I have the CD for a M125 and a Tungsten.

Hello pperk97 and welcome to the forums of Palm.

You can perform a hard reset to return the unit to its original factory default.  The hard reset for the Treo 90 is the same as one that employs the m123 and devices of series of tungsten.  If you need to review the process of hard reset, take a look at this Palm article.

You can also access the PDF the Treo 90 since the Palm Treo 90 support pageuser's Guide.
