  Hi all.  My MBPro bit the dust last week and I had to reinstall Snow Leopard and use Time Machine to get my "stuff".  I went and grabbed VMWare in the Applications folder and restored and now he tells me that he is not registered and I need to enter the license key.

  1 VMware Fusion needs to be installed through installer not only restored Time machine because there is much more to the VMware Fusion application then just the bundle "VMware Fusion.app".  If you need to download the latest .dmg on the VMware site and start the program uninstall, then reinstall, that's what I would do first.

  2. the serial number for VMware Fusion 3 is stored in the file ' / Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/license-merger-30-e1-200902 ' then you can find your TM backup for it.

  3. it is a known fact that the time Machine is not 100% reliable and backup or restore of virtual machines in all circumstances, and IMO not recommended for backup of Virtual Machines and so you should exclude from the TM backup and save manually as needed/wanted.

  Try the following.

  Open windows control panel, open Windows Update, select "View update history" in the left pane and then select "Installed updates" link in the next window.

  Locate the KB2962407 update, right click and choose uninstall.  Once completed, restart the computer, open windows control panel, open Windows Update and select "Check for updates".  You will see the update that you have uninstalled just offered once again - right click and select "Hide update".

  After that you may or may not need to remove and reload the sound driver - if you do, how to use Recovery Manager to reinstall the drivers and software is detailed in the document in question on the link below.

  Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

  When you are finished, download and reinstall the Chipset driver at the following link.

  Once the relocation of Chipset is complete, stop the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

  Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the default values (sometimes it is f5, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

  Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.
