Update the system with the esata disk configuration

I want to save my disk main boot to a 3rd sata drive uses the front esata port.  This so that I can install a new SATA (2 x 1 = 2 to) and using configuration RAID 0 with the new hard drive configuration.  Who currently use with 2 sata drives (WD 300 GB 10Krpm = C: disk main boot;) WD 1 to 72K rpm = 1 disc (unformatted); Seagate 250 GB 72 K rpm = disc 2 (unformatted).  Unable to find the training to get in shape for the transfer of backup... Be patient with me, I went big in my bench of first generation project and I started just to get back into the hobby of building a pc.  Any advice?  How can I get vista to access the esata to format it and do a full pc to save on disk 2.  So I want to install the new WD 1 TB sata 72Krpm and remove @D 300 GB 10Krpm drive 0.  At the end, and then restore the PC sauvegardΘ esata data.  Make sense, or is there a better way?

You partition / prepare a new disk by using disk management, before it can become available for use

    Hello

If the system still boot and CD/DVD Burns just put in a DVD-R (write once) or DVD - RW (burn
several times)-it will encourage - when its ready use Windows Explorer to drag and drop files (and
their content) on the DVD. When you're ready, click BURN. I would like to make a couple of each DVD for
Security with redundancy. These will not be encrypted and you can access the files out of them or
subsequently copy on a hard drive.

Basically, make sure you know what you want to copy the files and put them in a blank DVD to write.

    ---------------------

If the system does not start, then you will need to put the drive in another computer or in a
External enclosure USB so you can copy files to removable media.

    Hello

    ·         You have several configured on the system start?

This can happen if you have a multiboot system, or if there are multiple partitions on the disk.

During the installation of XP, make sure that you select C: as the partition where you want to install the operating system. Then to comply once more he comply when it prompts you to install XP on the C: drive. Check whether the problem is resolved. I suggest you follow the steps mentioned in the article below.

Can you please give me more info on the operating system installed on the external HARD drive? It is the same image as on F20 or some other HDD portable?

  • Need help with my hard disk configuration

    Hi guys,.
Ive read a lot about the best configuration of hard disk for my editing video pc... but I need some feedback. Here are my specs. Im running Windows 10 with this HD configuration. I use my system for Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, and After Effects.

1 SDS drive 250 GB operating system, program files, swap file

2 HDD (sata III) of disk 2 TB stockmedia / assets / my documents

Disc 3 HARD drive (sata III) projects 2 TB

4 drive HARD drive (sata III) 750Go export/renders, PP previews

5 HARD drives (sata III) of disk cache AE, PP, scratchdisk photoshop, captured 750Go audio/video media cache

If it would be really beneficial to my performance, I also have another HARD drive disc (sataIII) 2 TB which I could build in the case.

It looks all right? Or you guys change anything? I have a RAID configuration, but what I understand... RAID 3 or 5 would have need of more disks (same size preferred) and preferably a hardware controller. But my budget will not allow this for now.

Thanks in advance for your comments guys...

You probably already read this, but if you do not page Tweakers: Disk Setup

you drive configuration looks good, you can use the windows resources monitor to determine if the readers are struggling as well.

If I had to change something, I would try 2x2tb raid 0 (disk 2 and 3) for media/assets/projects using mbd raid (if your mbd supports raid). I might even try to add the spare hard drive 2 TB, 3x2tb RAID 0 for performance even more. If 'my documents' is just random storage (not for your active video projects), you can move to another drive out of the raid, as the 4 drive or another room to spare. Since you already have these parts, raid can be a good way to boost performance for free. any raid can add some risks more data loss, so you just make sure that your backups stick to the currents. You can save a copy of the project first (just the file .prproj) in a few different places at the end of your editing sessions, or use auto-enregistre to another location, to avoid having to save as much.

Moreover a unique fast sata ssd is comparable to 3 hard drives in raid, so you could look (s) ssd, sata for better cheaper and simpler vs an expensive hardware raid card. SATA ssd prices keep falling off and show no signs of slowing down, so if/when you get some later, they could be even more affordable.

  • Are unable to recovery system with a boot disk Options

I think my MBR is corrupted or my drive hard OS is dead.

I created a neosmart.com boot disk and have set the BIOS to boot from the CDROM.  After the POST, the display shows "Windows is loading files".  The Installation of Vista screen should appear and allows me to go click on "Repair my computer", but it doesn't.  It passes to the black screen with green bars of the hunt.  No window of the prompt... nothing. I want to get to the System Recovery Options so that I can run fixmbr and fixboot.  Any suggestions?

  • Disk configuration optimal (I know I know)

Hi, I've been through a lot of forum posts and read the guide to tweak for the suggested disk configuration. I understand that everyone is different and would just check my plan is optimal for what I have.

    Currently my system configuration:

    CPU: I7 - 4790 LGA 1150 K

    MB: MSI X 97

    RAM: 32GB

VIDEO: GTX 980 (have 2 but will sell such that there seems to be no advantage without CPU high range possibly)

HD1: MX550 Crucial 256 GB or 512 GB (purchase intent)

    HD2: Samsung 840 Pro 128GB

    HD3: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB

    HD4: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB

    HD5: WD 2 TB Black

    HD6: WD Black 1 TB

Based on the guide to tweak for the number of discs that I have, I should their RAID, but the problem is that they are not similar type/size and the LGA 1150 may be limited to an external RAID solution? In addition, software RAID can be problematic too?

I'm especially start with video editing and it's fun, but my attempts on my laptop low power gave me a long wait times/UN-viewable reading/crashes, so why I am trying to build a somewhat appropriate system. Currently, I'm only GoPro 2.7 K and raw footage of 1080 p and I hope perhaps soaking with images 4 K of a Panasonic GH4 (once I bought the camera hah) if my system takes care of everything. I don't plan to have my final exports longer than 5 minutes at the moment. Given current HW, I intend to configure the disks as follows:

Operating system and the programs -> HD1: MX550 Crucial 256 GB or 512 GB (not really play the games, but can try some, I know they say to clean your machine of editing)

Media cache and previews -> HD3: Samsung 850 Pro 256 GB (size will be sufficient for what I intend to treat?)

Project files -> HD4: 850 Pro 256 GB Samsung (once the project is finished, transfer to HD5: WD Black 2 TB)

Media Source files -> HD4: Samsung 850 Pro 256 GB (as a direct import from the camera to work with SSD speed, then once the project is finished, transfer everything to HD5: WD Black 2 TB)

Export -> HD2: Samsung 840 Pro 128 GB (as a direct export of rendering, and then transfer the file to HD5: WD Black 2 TB)

Backup of the HD1 and some media -> HD6: WD Black 1 TB

My thought to work on the SSD is first to get SSD speed, and then transfer them to the bigger HARD drive for backup, and the finished product. Would put HD3: Samsung 850 Pro 256 GB and HD4: Samsung 850 Pro 256 GB in RAID SW 0 be better for the Cache/previews of media and project files and then assign HD5: WD Black 2 TB for the Source of media files?

I'm seeing what I can get with what I have to work with the best configuration, and if there is a significant performance gain by changing the configuration a bit by adding another drive, or so, I consider that also. Thank you very much for your time and help in advance!

Wow, interesting and expensive record collection!

Do not buy the essential! I like critical readers, but you have a great opportunity to buy a 850 Pro always for one SSD RAID 0 array. My suggestion:

Boot/OS programs / = 128 GB Pro 840 - a bit small, but delete put into hibernation and it will do just fine

Data drive (and Windows cache) = 3 x 256 GB 850 Pro RAID array 0 (Intel ports - SATA III would be great, but even if your MB only SATA II RAID Intel ports very well happen)

You can use two of WD for storage, backups, etc.

In Adobe, set the 'other programs' (not Adobe) 6 GB memory if you have a lot of setting cached RAM for Windows disk.

Many will tell you that RAID'ing SSD is ridiculous, exaggerated, any faster, must have readers separated for reads/writes, blah, blah, blah, etc..

They are impressive and are really nice with Adobe Premiere Pro.

    Jim

PS - the 'old' PC, I am writing this email on has a range 0 5 SSD RAID x assembled 3 years ago, and its still humming along pretty well--fast and never miss a beat. My new build has a x 8 matrix RAID 0 on it - Yes, that's an exaggeration, but it must always be well big enough and fast enough for my needs of data for the next 3 years at least

  • Need help with the disks 'unreadable' configuring software raid after the death of the startup disk and system restored.

I'm looking for some advice on how to restore a windows xp installation software raid 5 that was running on my XP system. I had a problem when the startup disk has failed, but I was able to backup the system before it can. I replaced the drive and restored the system and everything came, but I was not smart to do this and accidently left the readers connected when restoring raid. I don't know if windows has done something when I tried to install XP on the new drive, or maybe something else has happened when I restored the system from the backup, but my raid drives can not be used. There was a moment in the restaurant business I saw a message on the MBR, but I thought that was just for the drive being restored. I didn't have a single player who held any information on the other disks in the system, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

When the system boots the windows logo screen takes 10-20 minutes before you get on the desktop. Windows Disk Manager takes 20-30 minutes to fill the list of drives and status on the disks three raid is 'dynamic' and 'unreadable' is not reassuring. I suspect it's a problem MBR or partition table that must be corrected before trying to reactive the raid, but this is just speculation.

The raid drives are on a promise ide/scsi disk and make it appear to start correctly with names and sizes. After that I get nothing. I do not have another scsi controller (or), but I thought I'd try active @ partition recovery to see if she can find information on the disks.

I hope someone has some experience with recovery like this, because this is a first for me. I thought I was pretty sure running a raid-5, but wouldn't you know, the tech gods have found a way to crush my plans...

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Update Win 7 Starter to Home Premium operating system from a hard disk of the laptop with old?

I have a netbook with Win 7 Starter.  I have an old laptop that the motherboard is dead hard disk.  I would like to transfer the Win 7 Home Premium OS from the hard drive of my netbook.  Since I already own the licence of this OS, is it possible to transfer?

If Windows 7 Home Premium came preloaded on the old computer where the motherboard is dead, the answer is no. If the Home Premium license is a retail upgrade or full version, then all you have to do is use the key and product upgrade Starter to Home Premium.

If the Windows 7 Home Premium license you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Home Premium. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option to enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Home Premium, when asked, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium files the stored settings and programs.
