Restoring Windows XP on Qosmio G20

Hi all

I have problems with my Qosmio running slow and I suspect some virus or Trojan. So I decided to restore my system, but to my surprise, it's that I can't find a windows restore cd. Is this possible? I don't have a CD that said QosmioPlayer Recovery CD-ROM and CD says the extra software CD and.
If I put QosmioPlayer recovery in the player, it will start on this subject and I get various recovery options: 1 recover the functions of the initial state 2 update qosmiopayer 3 remove qosmio Player 4 Cancel

This is not like a windows recovery CD :(

Is it possible to recover Windows without the CD? I'm sure that I lost all the CD that accompanies the qosmio.

Can someone throw some lihght? Thank you

Alain

> I decided to restore my system, but to my surprise, it's that I can't find a windows restore cd. Is this possible?
LOL why that shouldn't be possible ;)

> I don't have a CD that said QosmioPlayer Recovery CD-ROM and CD says the extra software CD and.

Recovery for the Qosmio player disc contains only the Qosmio Player software. additional software cd contains only the 3rd party applications that were preinstalled on this laptop. But it's not recovery disc!

> Is it possible to recover Windows without the CD
You need a disc; Microsoft Win XP disk or recovery disk.

> I'm sure that I lost all the CD that accompanies the qosmio.
Hmm, that means that someone stole your drive as described above; two additional Qosmio Player Recovery CD and software CD disks are NOT system recovery disc!

    Hello everyone, I have a Toshiba Qosmio G20 - 102 model: PQG20E

My operating system is Windows XP and iam trying to install Windows 7, when I run the Setup, choose "Custom Installation" (I can not choose the form of the option 'Upgrade' XP to 7), but when iam supposed to choose the drive I install windows, I get this message:

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows needs the driver for device [TOSHIBA RAID]. Click on "Load Driver" and load the required device driver. »

I tried to update the driver, I tried searching on the internet, but with no use, I'd appreciate it really if anyone can help, thanks :)

    Hello Ahmed

In general I put t if it is good idea to install Win 7 on this old notebook. OK you can try it but I fear that you will not be able to find the right drivers for it, especially some specific Toshiba m.

As you probably know, Toshiba doesn't support this model of laptop to Win7, not even for Vista so the history can be quite complicated.

Anyway, you can try to load THE RAID driver. You can find it in the KR10N folder.

Load it using the floppy or USB key. I put t know if it will work, but you can try it.

  • Qosmio G20: How can I reinstall the WinDVD?

My Intervideo WinDVD program is defective.

Reistall I can without reistall the operating system completely?

Windows XP Mediacenter - Qosmio G20.
    Thank you

You can reinstall this app if you have separately on a single CD.
On the restore CD, you will find image files that contain the operating system, drivers, tools and utilities and this application.
The WinDVD was preinstalled on the image, and I know he has not released on the CD single.

You are going to buy this program WinDVD or you must use the recovery CD.

By the way: have you tried to use the System Restore tool?
Still, this tool allows you to set the operating system to the beginning.
Maybe then the WinDVD will work

  • Qosmio G20 - restore settings factory

    Hello

Basically I have a Qosmio G20 and here is a brief history of the problem: -.

    (1) Started to get a cooling system warning, after some time the computer turns off.
    (2) stupidly, I ignored the warning system cooling and after a few weeks the computer would start is no longer.
    (3) computer is out of warranty so it took PC World UK for diagnosis.
    (4) PC World says have found 7 viruses (which they said they removed) and said there may be a hardware failure, but they couldn't be certain until they had restored the factory settings for the computer to work properly.

The problem with restoring the factory settings, this is even though I know that the hard drive is not actually deleted, I'm worried that he would make a few programs and inaccessible files.

All I want to do is start the Qosmio once while I can:-

    (A) launch Mozilla Firefox and export all my favorites so that I can then load into my new laptop
    (B) export all my Outlook Express emails and loading them in the new laptop.

With (A) above, I think the only way I can get bookmarks from Mozilla is to launch the program and then use the export option, it doesn't seem to be a way I can just scan hard drives for bookmarks setting the file and back to the top. And as for B), I did a scan of the hard drive and I found the 'dbx' Outlook Express files but when I imported in the new laptop there are a considerable number of missing emails.

    So my questions are:-

    (1) if I restore to factory settings, does this mean that Firefox and Outlook Express would more appear in my programs?
    (2) if not, can start the computer using a Windows CD, and then launch Firefox and Outlook Express directly from the hard drive?
    (3) or, if I plug the hard drive on another computer, you know the exact files (and places) so that I can get all my emails and settings of Firefox?

    Any advice would be appreciated!

(> A) launch Mozilla Firefox and export all my favorites so that I can then load into my new laptop

This isn't really a problem. Bookmarks could be saved on external USB flash.
You can find the bookmarks in your profile in
    c:\Documents and Settings\ [your user name] \Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
There should be a folder called bookmarkbackups.
You will find the latest bookmarks from html files.

Here you can find the FAQ about Firefox. Check * better

(> B) export all my Outlook Express emails and loading them in the new laptop.
You can save the mails too.

  • Qosmio G20: How to repair Windows without formatting?

    Hello
I have a qosmio G20 bought in October 2005. I need to repair my OS. The CD/DVD provided with the Windows XP MCE do not provide an option 'fix' as one provided when you buy a copy of Windows. How can I repair my OS without format my laptop?

Thanks in advance for your kind cooperation

    Antonis

The supplied restore CD does not contain the repair console because it s not an original Windows CD. The restore CD contains only an image of the files. Don't mix it with the CD of Microsoft!

To get into the repair console, you will need the original CD of Microsoft Windows.
I also read on the Microsoft site that it of possible to download the repair on 6 discs FDD console. Then you could boot from this drive FDD and you might be able to get into the repair console. But I have never tested this procedure.

  • Qosmio G20 - Blue LED for the volume does not work on Windows 7

    Hello

I have a minor problem. Yesterday, I update my Qosmio G20 on 2 GB of RAM and I have install Windows 7. Everything works fine even better than XP, but I notice that my blue led lights for volume no longer works.

Is there a driver I need to install or any solution that these blue lights for the volume can function again?

    Hi Gabriel,

I m not Qosmio G20 owner but I m asking you to install Windows 7. I think XP would be the best choice for this portable little plu

Normally the lighting on Toshiba laptop to install the package of added value. It s is only not for this model, so I put t know if it will work. You should try to download from another model of laptop that is Windows 7 supported.

In addition also check the BIOS if lighting is enabled.

  • Qosmio G20 and Windows 7

    Hello

I have an old Qosmio G20-115 that uses the RAID controller for two hard disks. I tried to install Windows 7 (RC1) and Windows Vista, but I'm still stuck at time of installation of Windows, detect hard drives. After reading the various reports from this forum and others sources on the web, I tried many times to get setup to detect the discs using drivers from various different sources, but nothing helped.

Is there something more fundamental, that I hurt myself? What RAID parameters need to be defined in the BIOS when trying to install an OS? If someone managed to get Windows 7 (RC1) working on their G20? Someone at - it pilots have tested and they managed to get Vista/Windows 7 on their G20-115 s?

For any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

When installing Win7, you must have the RAID driver on a floppy disk or USB key. Win7 Setup prompts you for a custom storage driver.

You can get the RAID for Vista driver on the Toshiba site. It should work in win7.

  • Qosmio G20-108 Windows recovery problem.

    Hello

I just purchased a Qosmio G20-108 of ebay and the seller said that the laptop is ok but I had a virus previously and it wiped the HARD drive. The DVD player has so replaced it by a new one, but he couldn't just load the recovery of Windows Media Center. I bought the laptop thinking that I can fix it but I could not and now I felt stupid: (.)

When I turn it on, you receive this error message:

    ERROR ATA #1

Intel (r) Boot Agen FE v4.1.16
    Copyright (C) 1997-2004, Intel Corporation

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit Intel Boot Agent.

Someone has an idea on how to solve this problem before sending it to the "Topaz" Support and cost me a fortune?

    Thank you.

If the DVD player is replaced, you are 100% sure it works well then you probably have a problem with faulty HARD drive.

If possible, try to get one for testing purposes. It can be used. Replace the HARD drive and try to install the top OS. Check if you have full access to the HARD drive.

    Hello

It is hard to believe that the Qosmio G20 may have some problems with the saving screen graphics and slower running.

In any case try check the energy saving settings and the use of the processor to maximum power. Check also running a process in the Task Manager and stop all unnecessary processes running. Don't forget that antivir application doesn t do any disk HARD analysis in the background.

  • Qosmio G20 Vista drivers? No need to install Windows Vista

    Hello
I'm new to this forum. My name is Francisco and I live in the Brazil. I have a Toshiba Qosmio g20_105 and it is running Windows Vista Ultimate EN RTM 6000 without problems.
To do this, you must perform a clean installation of Windows Vista. The drivers for network (Intel PRO100), audio (Soundmax), TV (Toshiba PCI Tuner), modem (modem of toshiba), Alps pointing device are installed directly from microsoft. You must install the Toshiba, Toshiba Bluetooth nvidia display driver (monitor and stack), driver Toshiba flash media, toshiba RAID texas (drivers and utilities), toshiba remote control manager and ConfigFree for Windows Vista.
You must have the Toshiba RAID drivers to install from the windows Vista DVD. Otherway, Windows does not recognize Toshiba RAID 0 and RAID 1.

Below some pictures of my desktop of the G20 screen:

    http://www.rabayjr.com/Vista/myqosmiog20screen1.jpg
    http://www.rabayjr.com/Vista/myqosmiog20screen2.jpg
    http://www.rabayjr.com/Vista/myqosmiog20screen3.jpg

And here is an example of the use of backgrounds animated with Windows Vista, deskscapes called dreamscene.
    It is in pause mode
    http://www.rabayjr.com/Vista/myqosmiog20screen4.jpg

To perform a new installation of windows Vista:

Please, download drivers Toshiba RAID here:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/Vista/drivers/RAID.rar

1 copy the contents of this archive on a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
    2. Insert your Microsoft Windows Vista Edition Bootable DVD.
    3. turn on your computer and press F12 to display the start menu.
    4. Select the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
    5. on the first Setup screen, choose your language options, and then press "next".
    6. press on "install now".
7 type your product key and then press "next".
    8. accept the license terms by checking the box, then press "next".
    9. when he asked "which type of installation that you want", press "Custom (advanced)".
    10. when it is asked "Where do you want to install Windows?", make sure that your media containing the Toshiba RAID drivers is connected to the computer, and then click on "Load driver".
    11. navigate to the location you copied the RAID drivers then press 'OK '.
    12. the installation program will return to the previous screen, but it will show that you have selected the TOSHIBA RAID driver.
13 make sure that the TOSHIBA RAID driver is selected, and then press "next".
    14. continue the installation of Windows Vista as usual.

Now, you will need drivers Toshiba for your Qosmio G20:
See the information of Device Manager:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/Vista/qosmiodrivers1.jpg

    Drivers:
    1. SD memory controller

    And finally the Toshiba Utilities:
    Toshiba Configfree

    That's all...

So, I say to you that Toshiba Qosmio G20 is Windows Vista Ultimate capable, indeed.

  • Qosmio G20 crashes before Windows can load

    Hello, I have a Qosmio G20.

Whenever I start the computer, sometimes a problem: the computer freezes before you download Windows (on the screen black, I sometimes see the mouse but nothing can be moved, sometimes I see nothing, it's just the blac screen), I have the hat to restart 1 or 2 times and after it's OK

You have an idea about this problem?

    Thank you!

    Phi

    Hello

This could be just what I want to say, that this problem can be related to software or hardware failure
If it s a delivers material then it might be possible something wrong with the HARD drive. However your question looks like a problem with the operating system files

In my opinion, there is only one real way to know if it s related to software or hardware. I think a fresh install of the OS

I know it extreme s to format the whole HARD drive and install the new OS, but I think it useful.
Backup your important data and try to use the Toshiba Recovery CD.

    Good luck

  • Qosmio G20 102: problem RAID the installation of windows xp media center

First of all I did not the raid driver for my qosmio. I tried the RAID of Qosmio G20, another pilot but when it reached the stage when I ask windows to format the C driver it shows me an error. It is said that there is an error in the KR10N file and it stops there.
Please help me and thank you.

    Hello

It seems that the Qosmio G20 102 belongs to the series of PQG20E.
Research on the European driver Toshiba page I found the RAID for Windows XP MCE driver v1.03.0008 (can also be used with XP Pro).

You will need an external USB FDD to include this driver in the operating system.
But note; After installing the RAID driver you shouldn't t format the HARD disk or create a new partition, because that will remove the RAID driver from the HARD disk and installing the OS fails!

I hope I could help you would also appreciate a feedback ;)
    Best regards
