Returning to desktop settings dual monitor after re-docking station?

I use two monitors and my office is configured accordingly. Occasionally I remove my laptop from its station home to use it somewhere else, but after re-docking station, all the desktop icons are crushed in one screen! V frustrating!

Is there a way to "remember" the original settings dual screen and automatically back to her, without having to re - adjust manually everything?

You will find a solution to www.winhelponline.com/blog/save-and-restore-desktop-icon-layout.

Once you have installed this hotfix, you should right-click on an empty area on the desktop to save the layout of your office.  Use the same procedure to return to the saved layout.

  • Grateful two monitors on a docking station

For some reason windows is not recognizing my two monitors I have connected to my HP NZ223AA 230W Advanced Docking Station.

I use Windows7 64 bit on an HP EliteBook 8560w with an AMD over-pants m5950 graphic card.  As near as I can tell the docking station allows the two DVI ports to use as well as the grahpics card is good for multiple monitors.

  • The main screen becomes secondary in a Setup dual monitor (DVI-HDMI)

Original title: WINDOWS PROGRAMMERS: problem with OS Windows7 not being not able change the numbers of identifiers when using multiple screens and HDMI

To be clear... This problem is with the Win7 OS - no video card GUI that allow to change number ID display on multiple monitors.

Problem with several screens and the use of HDMI cables substituent and #1 assuming that for its corresponding display view identifier.

    Not always ID desired.

But there is no way to change this.

    EXAMPLE:

Monitor is configured as primary display (ID #1) using a DVI cable

Then I connect my SONY Bravia or my LG HDTV displays using HDMI cables, the new screen automatically takes over as the display identifier #1 and the monitor becomes identifier #2.

-This introduces to the identifiers is not something I want, need or want to deal with every time I use several displays. And it creates problems.

There is NO way to correct or modify the identifiers.

Please provide a FIX as soon as possible if you have an ounce of concern for the customer service.

The solution can be as simple as:

GO to THE control panel - appearance and customization - display - change display settings:

Right CLICK... on one of the displays in the window to the left of "Detect" / "identify."

Then the OPTION 'Change display login' with a list of relevant identifier numbers according to the number of multiple connected screens.

    Click 'apply '.

    CLICK ON 'OK '.

and Voila! View identifiers are defined.

    Hi Jean-Pierre.

Thank you for all the information related to the issue.

This problem may occur if the display of the configuration settings dual monitor retain the configuration. Possible reasons could be installed on the computer outdated display driver.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer or the graphics card?
    2. Are you using double display card? Sometimes changing the display settings for the display cards might solve the problem.

First of all, if you have a display of the map or media panel installed on the computer, go to the control panel and change the setting under multiple display change. Assign the identity number according to the status monitor, then check if it retains the configuration when you restart the computer.

Additionally, make sure that you have installed the latest version of the display driver for Windows 7 from the website of the manufacturer of the computer. Sometimes, if the driver is not being updated, the setting may not keep the entire installation. See the link to know how to update the driver on Windows 7:

  • HP EliteBook 857w: docking station HP 90 w, supporting two monitors

I am currently working with an EliteBook 8570w on a 90w docking station.  I have an external monitor and the laptop lid open for a second, more small monitor.  I would plug a second external monitor and continue to use the laptop when the lid is open for e-mail.  I can't find a definitive answer on whether Yes or no this is possible and what is the best configuration to achieve the desired final result.  Right now, the external monitor is connected to the VGA port.  The second monitor has both DVI and VGA ports so I could continue the path with the cord or an adapter that would work best.  It is best to connect the second DVI or DisplayPort monitor on the docking station?  What installer, if necessary, would allow me to keep the 2 external screens and the open laptop monitor?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Thanks for joining the Forums today!

While using your monitor 8570w, when it is connected to a docking station (we tested this using an advanced docking station) there are two valid configurations for three independent displays. You can connect two additional monitors through DVI or only a monitor via DVI and the other through display port. It's using the advanced docking station.

If one of your VGA monitors should still work the same as above.

Here is a link to an image of an adapter, you can use to connect via display port: http://img.misco.eu/resources/images/products//100/HWP/FH/FH973AT/FH973AT_6_1600x1600.jpg

Download ATI Catalyst Control Center, which includes the updated drivers for your card, of the following:
    http://game.AMD.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=Vista64/common-Vista64

After installing the software and restarted, you can access their software by clicking on start-> all programs-> Catalyst Control Center, click on CCC
Then adjust your settings of dual monitor since the display under chart type Manager, here you can set the desktop, the refresh rate resolution and you want 1 of a possible 5 modes (press F1 to get help with their applicaton) display. Make sure that save you after having selected the desired configuration. My computer kept crashing after I had hung a dual monitor.  The second monitor was my television, playing a Netflix movie while I also used my computer to work on.  After splitting the two, I kept crashing for a few days.  I tried to delete the second monitor in the display settings, but does not know how to do this, if it's possible, but I think it's the problem and the cause of the double view of the desktop on my computer now.

Does anyone know how to confirm what the problem is for some, and/or instructions how to solve this problem if you already know what can cause this problem.  No assistance at all would be greatly appreciated.  I tried to understand this two days...

Strange problem.  5.5 Lightroom.  Windows 8.1. Setting up dual monitor.

I am processing a lot important photos.  I have #1 monitor set as my main to develop the window with #2 monitor configured only to display a larger version of the image, I work with. If I copy the parameters of development out of a picture and try to paste them on another image, Lightroom will increase from the #1 to the monitor #2 monitor in the main window to develop and does not display anything on the monitor #1.

If I then try to paste develop settings on another image on the monitor #2, LR then displays a larger version of the image, I have been working with the #1 monitor.

To work like I want to, I have to constantly drag my develop the window back to the #1 monitor whenever I try to paste the settings on a new image of development. How can I make this stop?

  • Do I need a dedicated video card to run a Setup dual monitor with HP 700-327c?

Recently replaced an old HP Desktop with the envy of 700 running Windows 7 Professional.

Old facility had a Setup to dual monitor with a video card that had two monitors - one HDMI and a DVI connectors.  The standard connectors on the old PC were VGA and DVI, but both have been capped to prevent use.

I wanted to set up monitors on this new PC to do the same thing and wanted to know if a video card with the two input connectors dedicated was the best set-up or simply use a mute adapter for VGA or DVI on the new PC ports.  The new PC has two video connectors standard - one VGA and one DVI currently.

FYI: Using an Intel i7-4770 with 16 GB of RAM and a video card using an Intel HD Graphics 4600.

An update as promised - not a problem - used another cord with the right connector and setting up monitors using Windows device settings and they work perfectly.  No need for a separate or higher video card as I am not in the game application for video features.  Thanks BH.

I took the liberty to do a little research on the ASUS HD 6450 map.  Are - what you got to get the ASUS HD6450 silent and low GPU or the bigger one with the fan?  It might be possible that those silent will not support Eyefinity technology since it was modeled for the home theater PC use.

I noticed that the model with the fan on the radiator mentions he is compatible Eyefinity, while the silent model does not work, but it allows you to choose between a VGA, DVI or HDMI port, but do not use them simultaneously.

I am currently under a dual screen setup with my monitor and a separate screen. It seems to work fine for a while and then all of a sudden my computer will start to act up, and then it will go to the blue screen of death. • Laptop with docking home & two monitors... need to get laptop to work after the withdrawal of the docking station

It drives me crazy.  I have a work Dell laptop connected to a station host and two double monitors. It works very well at the office that I work mainly on two large dual screens.  When I remove the laptop from the docking station and bring home the computer starts and displays a portion of my homescreen (like an extended display).  But I can't do anything else with it. I can't access my files or anything.

What I want to do now that I'm home with my laptop is to redo the settings so that the laptop is my main screen.  The normal methods of right click and change the screen resolution do not work because I can't access my Windows start tab.  Any ideas...

    Thank you.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to determine the root cause of the problem.

    1. What is the number and model of your computer and the graphics card?

    2. Have you tried to monitor primary as secondary and vice versa?

    3. All device drivers are updated?

Windows can detect automatically that an additional screen. If you connect two or more monitors, you must manually designate the primary display, arrange your desktop, and apply display settings, such as color depth and screen resolution. So, the next time that you connect these monitors, Windows automatically identifies the primary display and applies the settings that you previously specified for each additional display.

Try the methods mentioned below and see if it helps.

    Method 1

If you haven't tried Exchange monitors so I suggest you to try and see if the problem still occurs.

To change the settings of two monitors you can consult the links below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/change-display-settings-on-multiple-monitors

Note: This link is also applicable for Windows 7 .

    Method 2

If the problem persists I suggest you to update the display drivers. As the display drivers for two monitors are not the same, so try to update and check the status.
